Yes, charging is done with the USB cable, which also comes with an adapter that allows you to plug it into the wall. You can also connect it to a computer or powered USB device to charge as well.
Additionally, there's an optional accessory - part IA-BC9UA4 - that can be purchased separately if you'd like to remove the battery, or charge a second battery while the other is in use.
Is it possible to press record only once and then have the camcorder record continiously until the battery dies or the sd card is full? I read earlier the file size is 1.8GB (approx 20 mins) and then a new file is automatically made but does this mean that the cameraman is required to press record again or does the camcorder still continue to record after reachng the file size of 1.8GB? For my particular sport I will not have the opportunity to press record every 20 mins and hopefully this camcorder is capable of continuous recording. Thank you.
It will continue to record until you stop the recording. It just breaks up the recording into 20 min files. When you play it back, it will play continuously with only a fraction of a second pause between files as one ends and the next one begins. I didn't find it to be a significant issue.
The maximum continuous recording time is under 20 minutes. The maximum video file size is 1.8GB. When a video recording time is more than 20 minutes or a video file exceeds 1.8GB, a new video file is created automatically.
You don't have to press record again, although your playback will be in 20 minute segments.
Can you record without a memory card? If so, how much? I only need to keep 2-3GB on it at a time. Our last camera, a Flip, didn't use a memory card and you just plugged it to the flash drive. It was great.
This video camera does not have any internal storage capacity for recording. It will just blink a message "Insert Card" if you attempt to record with no SD card mounted.
The included battery can record up to 200 minutes, so in ideal situations, you can actually record approximately 3 hours on a single fresh charge.
Also, keep in mind that the maximum continuous recording time is under 20 minutes. The maximum video file size is 1.8GB. When a video recording time is more than 20 minutes or a video file exceeds 1.8GB, a new video file is created automatically.
You can purchase an SD card. I have this camera and I have a 16GB CLASS 10 - 30 Mhz Card. That should work the best, but the card can be kinda costly when it's not on sale.
The description says that the camcorder, rechargeable battery (IA-BP105R), and owner's manual are included. But according to the Q&A, the camcorder comes with a USB cable and adapter that allows you to plug it into the wall. Which one is correct?
Camcorder comes with everything you will need except for memory card, tripod, storage case, etc. But you will get the battery, USB cable and wall charger.
Is this camera plug and play so I can just take the sd card out and put into computer and watch video or save on to computer to burn to home movies on dvd? If so, what systems is it compatibly with? This is what I want it for. I have an older video camera that works fine but it is a pain to save to computer and create home dvds.
yes, you can either plug the SD card directly in your computer or connect the camcorder and use the software that comes with the camcorder. I use Windows 7 64 bit, I don't know if it works with older Windows version, but certainly with Windows 8
Yes, you should be able to plug the SD card into the computer and watch your videos or look at your photos without needing additional software. There may be software included that can allow you to do more with your videos/photos as well as transfer the files off the device itself, but files saved to the SD card should not need anything extra.
I received a Samsung HMX-F90 as a gift and this is my first camcorder so I'm still learning how to use it. Does it have a flash for pictures or a light for recording in the dark? If so how do I find it, and if not is there any kind of attachment that I can get to upgrade my equipment?
The camcorder does have a low light function, that helps in dim lit areas, I am not sure about an upgrade for the camcorder, I don't believe it has a flash, on it, as I have just bought it myself and haven't used it that often yet.
The Samsung allows you to record video in environments ranging from low light to completely dark. This is performed using a beam of infrared light that's emitted from the camera to illuminate the scene.
