I'm not new to electric shavers, I've used them for years. However, I have never used a rotary electric before. I've always wanted to try one. For me, this was an acquired taste that I never really felt comfortable with.
It performed OK, but it never felt natural for some reason. I never got a sense of where the blades were located and I never seemed to be able to get it in the exact right position to get the best shave. It's lightweight, maybe too lightweight. The motor sounds very small and under powered compared to other shavers I've used, and sounds like a kids toy instead of a quality razor, applying more pressure did seem to bog the motor down. I was able to get a good shave out of it but it took a lot of work re-positioning and going over the same spot several times. I found it especially hard to maneuver around my chin and upper neck area. The pop up trimmer looked useful, but again, it just didn't seem to work all that great and the angle I needed to use it at always eluded me. It's wet/dry feature may appeal to some, but I've never used a wet shaver. The head pops open for what would be easy cleaning if it included a brush, which it doesn't. You could clean it by running it under water, but I feel at some point you're going to need to do more than that.
This is not a bad razor, it's just a very basic entry level one. It's rotary style I feel would work better on people with rounder, fuller faces. If your face is more angular, you would probably be better off with a standard electric razor as I just couldn't get it to track well around my chin line.

Excellent Bluetooth speaker with lots of features.

This is a really nice little Bluetooth speaker. I really like the look of it. The outside is covered in a woven fabric mesh that has a really unique feel to it. The Bluetooth connection to my phone was quick and easy. All the buttons are along the top and are recessed into a rubber dish indent. There's also indicators for power (on) and Bluetooth connection. It has significant weight to it, and the rubber feet allow it to stay put while you're playing music.
There are actually a host of controls under a rubber door on the back side as well. There's a Batt button that will give you the battery life left, and also allows you to turn off the unique lighting feature on the front side. There's a WPC (Wireless Party Chain) button to connect several of these guys together (which sounds like a really cool idea). There's an input jack for the included power supply, an audio input jack and a usb port to charge your phone. It's got an IP67 water immersion rating so it's perfect for beach or pool area. The lighting feature is really cool and can be turned off if you want to.
Sound is quite good, plenty of bass, clear highs and mids. Really good when you consider the size of the whole package. Battery life is really good as well but also comes with a power supply if you want to plug it in. I really like this guy, good sound, some very unique features, and all wrapped up in a small package. Well done.

I have several sets of Sony headphones and ear buds. Generally speaking, they are adequate. The WH-CH700N's are actually somewhat better than I'm used to from Sony. When I first opened these, I found a set of headphones that are really quite nondescript visually. Nothing flashy and no gratuitous chrome parts, just a set of black headphones. That's not a bad thing really, and I've found that sometimes components with a lot of bling are covering up their lack of quality and functionality.
I have to say I was actually pleasantly surprised when I powered them up and connected them to my Samsung S8 smartphone. The Bluetooth pairing was a snap (as it should be). I think if a pair of Bluetooth headphones has trouble with this step, then they've already failed. Not the case with these guys. The ear cups are covered in a nice soft feeling material, and are very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time.
The controls are very intuitive once you are used to where everything is located. I appreciate the separate Noise Canceling button, which allows you to compare the difference between using the noise canceling feature and not. Some headphones make you go through an app to find this button, but this pair has it right on the ear cup. There's also a volume control rocker switch and a multi-function switch that lets you pause/play/answer and also skip tracks forward and back. My first impression was that this switch was going to take some getting used to, but I found it to be very intuitive, which is a pleasant surprise for Sony.
Sound quality was pretty good but not stellar, which is not to say it was bad. Quite the contrary, it was very good with rich full bass and clear highs. It just wasn't something that took me to another dimension when I started listening to them. My standard music app is Power Amp, and these headphones sounded great when playing just through the app. There is an app from Sony you can load that gives you things like an equalizer, and some DSP modes like Arena or Outdoor Concert, etc.. They do change the sound but I felt that the sound got muddy using these processors. I had the best sound experience using my normal music player app which left the sound un-colored and clean, much like plugging in a set of phones to an amplifier. If you don't have a go to app, then you might appreciate the Sony app.. It's a free download, and does give you some good info.
These were by far the nicest sounding Sony headphones I've used and I look forward to using them for a long time. At no time was the sound unpleasant, no bottoming out on the bass side or shrill, tinny high end. They pretty much reproduced what I sent them without masking the sound. Good battery life, comfortable to wear and just plain easy to use. They've made me rethink my impression of Sony audio for the better.

I've used several different brands of rechargeable toothbrushes over the years and all of them have fallen short of my expectations. This Sonicare ProtectiveClean 5100 is the exception to all my previous experiences. This one works fantastic. I was very pleasantly surprised by all it's features and abilities. First off, it's sleek and not at all bulky. The diameter of it is easy to hold and maneuver and I never felt like it was difficult to position it where I needed to. Even the charging base is small so it doesn't take up a lot of space on the counter.
It has three modes of operation. These I found were for three different types of brush heads. One is for normal cleaning, one is for whitening and the last is for gum care. It comes with the brush head for cleaning. When you turn it on, all you feel is a small vibration. It has a two minute timer on it that beeps every 30 seconds to let you know when to move on to the next quadrant in your mouth. I was shocked at how clean my teeth felt when I was done brushing. Honestly, they felt like I just had a cleaning at the dentist, nice and smooth. Brushing with a normal toothbrush doesn't even come close to the way this Sonicare made my mouth feel.
The brush heads have a microchip inside that communicates with the base and tracks how long the head has been used. After a set amount of time, the brush head replacement reminder lights up on the base letting you know it's time to replace it. It also has a pressure sensor to let you know with a series of pulses, if you're pressing too hard. This is really a nicely designed unit, they seem to have covered all the bases. It also comes with a plastic travel case. The best rechargeable toothbrush I've ever had, by far.

I love stick vacs, but so many times the suction is just too anemic to pick anything up. I've owned and used Dyson vacuums and the one thing that's consistent with all of them is the amazing suction that they generate. The V10 is certainly no exception.
First off, it's battery operated. This can make or break some vacuums really fast. I found the charge life to be adequate for running the vacuum at full power and getting to every room I needed to get to before it lost all power. It's quite light even with the floor beater bar attachment installed. The many tools can be interchanged quickly, and they are all well designed for a variety of tasks.
The suction is absolutely incredible, especially for a battery powered vacuum this size. There are three levels of power so that you can actually control the amount of suction you need. At first I thought this was a bit of a gimmick because comparable vacuums don't exactly have power to spare. This switch however, does come in handy when going from hard floors, to carpets, to using a different attachment. When on the highest setting, the beater bar literally sucks itself onto the floor so firmly, it gets difficult to push. It has more suction than I can believe, and way more than any other stick vac I've ever used.
Cleaning the beater bar is pretty quick and it actually has a way to remove the bar easily for removing any strings or long hair. The dirt cup empties very quickly and does a good job of removing all debris without digging around with your fingers to pull it out.
There were a couple of points I wasn't crazy about however. The first is, you need to keep the trigger depressed the entire time you're using it. It does not click "on" and then click "off". This gets a little tedious and can become hard on the trigger finger. It also makes it difficult to switch hands without it turning off in the process. The second point is, I wish the battery itself was removable. That way I could hang the V10 anywhere I chose and charge the battery separately. As it is, you need to put the vacuum in the wall mounted charging station to charge it. This would be a nice feature if everyone had closets with outlets inside, or an area such as a mud room that was convenient to hang it in. I don't have either one, so finding a good place to hang it that has power and is also out of sight is tricky.
Both cons aside, this is far and away the best stick vac I've owned or used. The suction was way stronger than I imagined it would be and it's light weight makes it easy to use in most of the places you would want to. It's certainly not inexpensive, but it does go beyond my expectations for a vacuum in this class.

I've used Photoshop Elements in the past and this new version is very similar. There are a huge amount of options and features with this program and it would be impossible to run through them all. It's actually two separate programs in one. When you open it up it gives you the choice of selecting the Organizer or the Editor.
In the Organizer, you have a program that lets you consolidate all your photos and directories in one convenient location. Just tell it where to look and it will add all your photos (including your directory names) to the main catalog. From there you can separate and further organize them 'til your hearts content. You can further break down your collection by People, Places or Events. It will attempt to group every face it finds into different people so that you can name the person. When you select a persons picture, you can elect to see all the faces in the group, or all the faces so that you can confirm that the face it's showing you is the same as all the faces it grouped together. You can always edit these people names. This works well, but it is very tedious even with this feature. It does a pretty good job, but you still need to name people and verify that it found the same person in all the photos. I've found that I still needed to edit quite a few, especially in the photos of when my daughters were very little because they looked similar when they were young. This sometimes happened with all of my wife's sisters and her as well. But if your willing to go through them all, you'll end up with a way to sort on actual people, which would have otherwise been almost impossible.
The editor program is a breeze to use and is always available from the organizer so that if you run across a photo in the organizer that you want to play with or edit, you can just open the photo up in the editor right from the organizer. There are a lot of editing features. A lot of which I haven't had the opportunity to explore yet. But all the basics you would want to be able edit are certainly included. It does a particularly good job at automatically getting rid of red eye, everybody's bane. You have your choice of Smart Fix, Exposure, Lighting, Color, Balance and Sharpen. Opening up any of these sub menus shows you a selection of alterations on the actual photo that you've selected to work on. This is a really powerful set of tools. You could pretty much fix any photo with these tools alone. All of them are listed under the Quick heading. Meaning that you can just click through any adjustment you want to make. There is also a heading labeled Guided, that will actually guide you step by step through fixing a variety of photo problems and obtaining stunning results while teaching you how to do things in a more manual way to fix them. This heading also includes many artistic affects that you can apply to any photo. This is really a great bag of tricks for anyone who enjoys doing a little more with their photos and applying artistic effects. The last heading is Expert mode. In this mode you can perform all the edits yourself without any help at all. This is handy if you know exactly how you want to alter a photo and don't need the aid of any of the included tools to fix it.
This version of Elements is really a wonderfully comprehensive tool that allows anyone the ability of organizing and altering any and all of their photos. If you want to spend the time, you will really benefit from the huge number of tools and features that it offers. I highly recommend it for amateurs and enthusiasts alike. Even experts would probably benefit from tools.

This is a really stunning looking machine. Elegant dark gray with brushed chrome accents, super thin. It has a full width, backlit keyboard with solid action on all keys and a wider and thinner touchpad that has a unique look to it. It comes with three USB ports (one of them is USB-C), a card reader, an HDMI port and a headphone jack.
The sound is by Bang & Olufsen. I haven't heard this name in a long time and great to see they are still around. The sound is no less than amazing. I would go as far as to say it's the best sounding laptop I have ever heard. I would guess that most people are just used to tinny sounding little speakers on laptops these days, and like myself, don't expect a lot in that department, but the sound was a nice surprise and refreshing to see included at this price. The speakers are on top, right above the keypad, not shoved on the front edge or on the sides. Plenty of bass and volume. The screen is beautiful at 1920 x 1080, and is seamlessly incorporated into the top panel. This is the first laptop I can honestly say it was a pleasure to watch a movie on. It comes pre-loaded with the things you might expect plus Netflix and Paint 3D.
The 1TB hard drive is nice but a solid state drive would have been better. Although for this price hp did cram a lot into this machine. An SSD would have really increased the price. The 8GB of memory is adequate, but this too could have been larger. The AMD processor seems quicker than most I've used and all in all, the performance is good, although the speed is not going to knock your socks off. But if you use the machine for the basics, like most people will, or you're a student that wants a larger size screen for word processing etc., it will do just fine.
I think for the price of this laptop, you actually get quite a bit, and unless you're looking for a gaming machine or a professional business machine where speed is the number one priority, you'll be quite happy with the included options. It has a really nice selection of things that you wouldn't think would be included in a machine at this price. I really like it.

This is a really cool blender. The safe blade really works perfectly and you don't have to worry about trying to take the thing all apart to clean it. It all stays together so you don't have to keep track of a lot of pieces. The jar sits on top the base unit nicely without having to try to turn it to find just the right spot. It has several timed cycles for different uses, one specifically for smoothies, plus it has various speed buttons, and a pulse button. There's even a button for a cleaning cycle. It all works fantastic. It varies the speed as it sees fit to get the most efficient blend. Smoothies turn out great, and it has absolutely no trouble with ice. I was a little skeptical at first until I tried it and as blenders go, it's not the cheapest one on the market, but it way surpassed my expectations. Incredibly strong motor and a unique blade combined with an easy to clean jar and a minimal amount of parts. It's quite possibly the perfect blender.

This is a really nice vacuum. Good suction, a beater bar, a lighted front end and loads of attachments. We've had a lot of this style of vacuum over the years, some better than others. This one has a lot of great features. It's relatively lightweight and very maneuverable with the beater bar connected. The front has LED lights on it that are bright and helpful. This is something that's missing from a lot of this style vacuum these days. The wheels and rollers on the beater bar attachment are made of rubber, not plastic, and are easy on the floors. Being rubber I would have thought that tooling it around the house would have been nice and quiet, but that's not the case. The rear wheels are kind of squeaky, which is really a bit annoying. It's because the plastic center portion of the wheels don't have any kind of bearings, they just seem to be snapped onto a plastic spindle, hence you get squeaking. The head unit has a feature called FloorSense which interacts with the beater bar attachment. On hard floors, this feature slows the speed of the beater bar so it doesn't scatter any debris on the floor. On carpets, it speeds up the beater bar to deep clean the carpeting more efficiently. There's also a really good battery indicator that shows how much charge is left. The battery is removable which is great. Just pop it out and put it in the charging stand wherever it's convenient to put it. This is also nice because we have ours mounted in the garage right outside the door. Cold weather would not be good for the battery. The vacuum comes with a lot of attachments that make it easy to do things like vacuum the stairs or the couch cushions. You can raise it up to clean the blinds or drapes in place as well. The dirt cup is clear and the first time I emptied it, I couldn't figure out how it all came apart. After a little exploring, I found that there was a way to take it all apart to clean it thoroughly. All in all a versatile, lightweight vacuum with every attachment you'll ever need. The suction is good and after racing around the house with it the first time, I was impressed at how much “stuff” it picked up.

I've reviewed Sony headphones in the past and I was anxious to try these out. Wireless is definitely the way to go, and I have about five pair of different ones from different manufacturers. Some are really easy to set up and just start enjoying, some take a bit more playing around with. The Sony 1000x's fall in the latter category. This is not to say they sound bad, quite the contrary, they sound very good. But, compared to other brands I've used, they just take more work to get to that point.
To start with, the overall design is quite nice. No wires at all, each one is individual. The size is very good. Just big enough so that you can manipulate them easily, but not so big they look silly in your ears. Sony, like a lot of higher end designer ear buds has opted for a nice charging case to easily charge them in, and it protects them at the same time. The case is nice, but doesn't seem to offer any way to charge the buds without actually plugging it in to a USB port. Other brands cases also include a battery inside the case that will charge their buds without being plugged in. The case also took some getting used to when inserting the buds. It took me a few tries to get it right. The small LED's on each one look really cool, not just a small pinpoint of light, but a larger reflected color that looks high end.
Pairing was, well not as quick and easy as it should have been. I'm used to putting in the buds and just powering them up to get a Bluetooth connection. I have an S8 so this should be an easy thing. These you have to take out only the left bud, press and hold the button for seven seconds ant then release. After that you can go to your phone settings and hopefully find them in the available devices. This also took a couple of tries before it would connect. After it connects, you can remove the other bud and then the two of them connect to each other.
Sizing them to your ears is very critical to get good sound. The first set of tips I used made the buds sound very thin and tinny with almost no bass. Experimenting with other tips (and there are plenty) finally allowed me to dial in some really good sound. When I say really good, I mean these guys sound very clean with the right amount of bass. This again was not my original experience right out of the box. I didn't get good sound until I downloaded the Sony app. It was from this app that I was able to select an EQ signature and adjust the volume. That's right, there's no volume controls on the buds themselves, you have to use your phones' volume controls. But these will only let you go up as loud as the app has been set to. As I said, these do sound very good and I'm just glad I had the patience to play around with them for as long as I did. The noise canceling seems to work well and there are several choices you have through the app to set this to your favorite setting.
Final thoughts. The sound of these guys is really worth the time it took fiddling with them. That being said, I have wireless ear buds from other manufacturers that took a fraction of the time to set up and sounded just as good. I occasionally get a 1 second drop out in sound from the right bud. It's not a huge deal, but it is a minor annoyance. The pictograph quick start sheet is huge and has no wording or explanations on it at all. I felt like I was trying to assemble something from Ikea. The regular instruction sheet had a lot more information on it, but the text is so tiny, it was literally impossible to read by itself. I like the selection of ear tips, and the buds are comfortable to wear. They are quite light weight. The storage/charging case is nice and after you get used to it, easy to use. All in all I loved the sound, but was not a fan of all the extra time I had to spend just to get a good sound.

Not enough suction

I bought this after reading a positive review in a leading consumer magazine. It comes with an impressive number of accessories but the suction is weak. It would not even vacuum up bits of grass on my doormat. I returned it and bought the portable Dyson instead. Night and day difference.
