A cool band to get into, Blondie is retro good.

I always liked Blondie, never owned an album of theirs, therefore buying "The Best of Blondie" was definitely the right choice. I like the fact that Blondie has their ties to Punk Rock. All of Blondie's greatest songs are here and what a cool mix it is. Blondie always dabbled with their musical representation, "Heart of Glass" and "Rapture" are easily dubbed Dance/Rock while "One Way or Another" is a slick Pop-Punk classic. "The Tide Is High" has a groovy Reggae vibe happening. I never could really pigeon hole Blondie into one specific music genre, all I know is that the music they created is extremely catchy, the band can play and Deborah Harry can really sing. I recommend this "Best of Blondie" to any fan of Pop, New Wave and Dance music. Blondie can Rock too on some of these songs! Picking up this Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band is highly recommended.
There are no real liner notes with this CD.
What's great about it: 10 songs that cover Pop, Dance and Rock with a sliver of Punk.
What's not so great: No complaints.

"Arsenal Of Megadeth" is the most complete and total DVD package out there for Megadeth! You will see 20 Megadeth music videos! 20! Plus there are a ton more cool happenings on this DVD, which are: unreleased concert footage from international tours, Gigantour 2005 concert footage, an acoustic live performance from Argentina, interviews from 1986 - 1998 with band members past & present, backstage footage and television appearances. You simply cannot go wrong by purchasing "Arsenal Of Megadeth", it is such a justified Thrash Metal addition to any Metal or Megadeth collection. I have thoroughly enjoyed this DVD, I recommend it highly!
There are 8 really cool, full color photos of Dave Mustaine & Megadeth on the inside covers of the DVD package.
What's great about it: 20 music videos! Live footage, interviews, rehearsal & backstage footage.
What's not so great: Absolutely NO Complaints.

If you are looking around for some real Heavy Metal, not the commercial stuff, well you have found it here. "Danzig lll: How The Gods Kill" portrays Heavy Metal as it should be, heavy, dark, sinister and heavy again. The songs are powerful, with Danzig's vocals leading the way. Listening to this album makes you realize that Danzig does not fool around with music, no fillers, no pretensions. "Godless" opens this album's door to a very dark Metal journey that will satisfy your Metal needs. Listening to Danzig sing "Godless" will definitely grab your attention, he accentuates song like no other Metal vocalist. My favorite track is "Dirty Black Summer", it has a haunting riff and dark lyrics that only fuel the catchy vibe of this track. Overall, "Danzig lll: How The Gods Kill" is a classic Danzig album that needs to be recommended and hailed throughout the Metal community.
What's great about it: Every song, Danzig's vocals, heavy songs.
What's not so great: NO complaints ever with Danzig.

Vintage Over Kill Thrashes up a storm live!

This is one heavy duty Thrash Metal album. Over Kill pulled out all the stops in this live recording, a tremendous flurry of Thrash blast beats with razor sharp guitar speed and riffs! D.D. Verni is always amazing on bass with Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth belting out the mighty vocals. The title song is a studio track, it really burns! Tracks 2 through 8 are the live tunes, while "Rotten To The Core", "Fatal If Swallowed", "The Answer" and "Overkill" are studio tracks taken from the infamous "Over Kill EP". Overall the sound quality of the live concert cuts are incredible! There is verbal interaction between "Blitz" and the crowd, cool stuff. This is prime choice Thrash Metal from the early years of Over Kill, it is worth a thousand listens. "The Answer" is my favorite studio cut here, it has a slower than usual groove happening, with heavy, heavy, Black Sabbath style riffs making for a dark atmosphere. This song does eventually kick it up a level and picks up that Over Kill speed and Thrash they are famous for. Definitely pick up this CD from Over Kill, any Metal or Thrash fan will feel right at home listening to this great music. Any Over Kill fan who needs this CD for their collection should buy this now before it becomes an out of print collectible!!
Bobby Gustafson plays lead guitar and "Rat" Skates pounds out the drums on this one. The live stuff was recorded on June 3, 1987 at the Phantasy Theatre in Cleveland Ohio and on January 27, 1990 at The Ritz in New York City by Westwood One. The liner notes are a brief 4 pager, with individual band member photo's in black & white, credits and song credits. No lyrics are in the liner notes.
What's great about it: Early Over Kill years, live tunes and studio tracks from Over Kill EP!
What's not so great: NO Complaints.

Alice Cooper's "Greatest Hits" was released in 1974. This is an album which bestows the hits from Alice Cooper (the band) and what an important, legendary set of songs these are. These tunes were years ahead of their time, just as Alice Cooper was back in the early 1970's. Alice Cooper single handedly invented Horror/Shock Rock, lending a hand as well in the creation of Heavy Metal as we know it today. "I'm Eighteen", "School's Out", "No More Mr. Nice Guy", "Under My Wheels" and "Billion Dollar Babies" rock harder than any songs of their time, these songs sound just as heavy to this day, you would swear they were meant to never age at all. Many Hard Rock and Heavy Metal bands both past and present have covered these classic Alice Cooper songs. The reverence for the quality and pure unadulterated heaviness of these songs is well documented, every time one of these songs is covered is proof of this. Overall, the total package here is heavy Hard Rock that helped originate the Heavy Metal movement. The sinister clarity of Alice Cooper's vocals will dazzle you into wanting to hear these songs all the more. Musically, the band of Alice Cooper takes a back seat to no one during this era of Rock & Roll. A monumental contribution to Rock, this is Alice Cooper!
The liner notes are 8 pages of song credits, expanded artwork and a one page, brief history on Alice Cooper (the band). There are no lyrics in the liner notes.
What's great about it: Alice Cooper (the band), early 1970's hits, every song, lyrics, this Rocks!
What's not so great: NO Complaints.

Motorhead will rock your Metal senses straight!!

If you are new to Metal, new to Motorhead, well then, this is one incredible double CD to get you started. Actually, this "Best Of Motorhead" should get you well on your way to knowing some of the most important and awesomely heavy tracks ever recorded by Lemmy and the boys. Old school Motorhead fans will get a kick out of having a double disc of so many tunes, great for the car, beach, office and home! From the bluesy, Rock & Roll cover tune "Louie, Louie", to the Punk Rock cover "God Save The Queen", you will hear how Motorhead embraces the world of Rock and makes it sound like their own. Tons of original tracks are here as well, from the historic "Ace of Spades" to the more recent "Snake Bite Love", Motorhead plays it heavy and with unabashed conviction. The unreleased tracks are what lured me the most to make this purchase, having an extensive and almost complete collection of Motorhead is a good thing in life. In my opinion, Motorhead with their so unpolished sound, is so addicting, a life long addiction at that! Let your yourself go and buy this double CD "The Best of Motorhead", I did, plus it will serve you right!
Released in 2000, this double disc comes with a 16 page booklet of liner notes! This booklet in itself is a collector's item! Really cool photos of Motorhead throughout the years are featured, every band member past & present is shown. A 25 year biography is included as well, very well written and concise with tons of Motorhead facts, timelines and details that proves for an awesome read! No lyrics are in the liner notes. The entire booklet of liner notes are printed in black & white, (except for one page which shows past Motorhead album covers).
What's great about it: 2 disc set! 20 tunes! Vintage Motorhead, recent & unreleased stuff too.
What's not so great: Never a complaint about Motorhead. Never.

"Big City Nights" is a greatest hits of the Scorpions, a tremendous value with the song selection! You get studio and live versions of intense, Metal driven cuts from Germany's greatest musical import ever! "Still Loving You" and "No One Like You" are two live tracks that explode with the energy and vibrance only the Scorpions can deliver. I always admired the guitar skills of Rudolph Schenker, his unique sound is timeless Heavy Metal gold. Klaus Meine is one of the top ten Heavy Metal vocalists of all time, in my humble Metal opinion. This album gives you chart topping hits, ballads and deep album cuts. I like owning this CD for two reasons: One, it is the Scorpions, second, I get to grab this greatest hits and go - knowing it is some of the best material the Scorpions have done all on one disc. I highly recommend this CD to all Scorpions, Metal and Hard Rock fans worldwide. You positively cannot steer yourself wrong by purchasing "Big City Nights".
What's great about it: Scorpions and their musical talent, every song, all lyrics.
What's not so great: No Complaints.

Black Sabbath at their very best, a Metal classic!

Black Sabbath "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" is a tried and true Heavy Metal classic. Every song is a definitive statement of just how talented and forward thinking Black Sabbath was in 1974. These 8 songs are a journey of surreal riffs, post psychedelic musical heaviness, that molded Heavy Metal into what it has become today. The opener "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" has a lead riff that instantly prepares you for the remaining set of songs. The instrumental "Fluff" could only work for Black Sabbath on this album, it's convenient yet prominent position within these songs makes complete sense. "Fluff" and it's acoustic beauty embarks on the intelligence Black Sabbath held onto. Ozzy Osbourne is so unmistakably eerie on vocals, he was and always shall be one of a kind. Tony Iommi delves into the world of heavy riffs, formulating one after another throughout, unknowingly becoming the Metal riff king for all time. Geezer Butler on bass and Bill Ward on drums provide a legendary rhythm section, that shapes the dark moodiness of this beyond fantastic Metal masterpiece. I strongly urge any and all Heavy Metal or Hard Rock fans to add "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" to their music collection, it is an essential and important work of Heavy Metal.
What's great about it: Ozzy on vocals, the entire band, every song, eerie old school Metal.
What's not so great: NO complaints!

As I see it, Bullet For My Valentine have released a few cool albums, now they are a powerful and solid Metal unit. Yes, "Hearts Burst Into Fire" and "Forever And Always" are a tad more melodic and mellow than we are used to from this fine band. In a Metal nutshell, I really like these songs, the melodic, mellow sound and flow to these two songs make for an outstanding listen and only certifies that Bullet For My Valentine has a long future of great music ahead. I am always relieved to see that there are young Metal bands out there with integrity and talent, to keep the flame of Metal burning bright for new generations. "Scream Aim Fire", "Eye Of The Storm" and "Waking The Demon" are by no means Pop music here, these guys can Thrash when they want to. The musical labels have been thrown about in regards to this album and band, my label is pure and simple: Metal. Quality Metal like this is well worth owning, this has been an album that I continue to play since my purchasing it in early Spring of 2008. I have yet to tire from this new material. Matt Tuck on vocals diversifies throughout, he has shined as a lyricist on this one. Bullet For My Valentine can really play and play very heavy too.
The liner notes are great, with 16 pages of complete lyrics, a 2 page photo of the band and credits. Bullet For My Valentine are: Matt Tuck (vocals & guitar), Moose Thomas (drums), Jay James (bass & vocals) & Padge (guitar).
What's great about it: Matt Tuck on vocals, fine musicians all! Great songs & lyrics.
What's not so great: Cannot find a complaint here.

I bought this CD for many reasons. First, you are getting 2 great, legendary Metal bands with the Scorpions and Whitesnake. Second, it is loaded with power ballads. Third, these songs are real Heavy Metal classics, no matter how mellow the ballads are. There are many moments when these heavy power ballads are all you need to wet your Hard Rock/Metal appetite. The Scorpions deliver three heavy hitters here as well with "Rock You Like A Hurricane" "No One Like You" and "Tease Me, Please Me". These three tunes are guaranteed to pump up your Metal rhythm! I am not the worlds biggest Heavy Metal power ballad fan, yet when there are prolific Metal bands that are known for the power ballad and do it well, I listen. Klaus Meine on vocals for the Scorpions and David Coverdale on vocals for Whitesnake epitomize how the Heavy Metal power ballad should be sung. The Scorpions and Whitesnake are two Metal bands that have given the power ballad amazing integrity. This CD is a tremendous value for what you are getting, play these tunes loud and let the Metal engulf you!

What's great about it: Scorpions & Whitesnake, great power ballads galore, every song!
