Was not a Cold Play fan in the past, but this was a good introduction into their style of music. It became a curiosity because the music was used in some of the free skating in the 2018 winter Olympics. Now, I am a Cold Play fan.

This movie gave us a hint of the past which today seems as relevant today as it was then. Gregory Peck is very good, a bit laid back, but this was supposed to be fifty years ago when this happened. But it also seems that we haven't moved forward that much. This could be today in some parts of the country. Very good movie.

This Christmas album was something I wanted to hear since it has been a while since I last heard him sing. This gives away my age, but it reminded me of why I had some of his LPs years ago. Most of the CD was good with Sinatra singing the standard Christmas songs, but it fell off in the last third of the CD when he had his family singing with him. Also, some of the songs near the end were not standard Christmas songs but you listened to the end hoping that you could hear more of him. Not sure he would do well in 2018 with the younger generation, but he epitomized the 50s through 70s and the then current political environment. He was a character but his voice was something that got your attention.
In a world ravaged by a plague turning mankind into cannibalistic automatons, a British army compound houses researchers looking for an answer... and they're seeking it through rare children like Melanie (Sennia Nanua) who-though infected-retain their capacities for thought and reason. When the base is overrun by Inchhungries,Inch however, Melanie joins the few survivors on a flight to haven in London... which may end prematurely if she can't keep her impulses in check. Effective thinking man's zombie flick co-stars Gemma Arterton, Glenn Close, Paddy Considine; Mike Carey adapted his novel for the screen. 111 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English.

This was a surprise vampire movie. The title was misleading (The girl with all the gifts), and I thought this was going to be more of a science fiction movie rather than a vampire movie. There were gaps in the story, like Glenn Close was the scientist that was going to use the vampire children to develop a vaccine to protect them from other vampires. It was not clear exactly how this was going to be done. Gleen Close appeared to be a little out of depth in this setting. Not very convincing. The other supporting cast were not that convincing, but then again this was a vampire movie, so it would be difficult to carry out their roles as one of the last survivors that were not infected with a fungus. This was an interesting plot rather than the usual virus that might convert normal people to flesh eating vampires. Disappointing overall.

If you haven't seen the first two episodes of Taken, this is not such a bad collection. The first Taken came out almost 10 years ago ((2009), and it was pretty exciting. Since then the following episodes have been hard to accept because they follow the same script of father worrying about the daughter. In the most recent in the series, Liam Neeson has noticeably slowed down. He is not James Bond, but he is trying to replicate 007. Time to retire.

It was good to see some of the years past actors in their prime (or coming into their prime). Now we can see why Yul Brynner was so popular back then,, because he has this stage presence that takes over the scenes. Good to be reminded of the young actors that were coming into their own, such as Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, and James Colburn who was so cool in his role as the quiet knife throwing gunman. Also, have to give credit to Eli Wallach as the lead bandit who played a good role. Good to watch when in between other recent movies.

Chris Stapleton's Traveller was a pleasant surprise. His voice reminds me of some other country western singer, but I can't put my finger on exactly who. Anyways, the album has 14 songs of which they are generally pretty good in general. It was good to hear some songs that were a little less traditional country western and almost ballads. Good stories for some of them. Worth getting the album.

this was an interesting movie with Amy Adams again showing why she is one of the best actor of the day. There is something about her that she dominates the screen in some movies. In this movie, the flash backs were really frightening, and in some cases, it wasn't clear if it was the present or just a story that she was reading. Maybe not a commercial success but a good little movie that is better than most movies coming out now.

The story of the Boston Marathon bombing is still very close to us. So, this story even now brings sad memories now. Mark Wahlberg is really a likeable actor, but recently he has been in a lot of action movies so it feels a little like he is saturating the movie screen with the similar hero-type characters. However, still more tolerable than Jason Statham who pretends to act in the Mechanic Resurrection.

The story was very interesting. The action was terrific. Everything about the movie was good. But two problems. Could not get past Andrew Garfield playing this person because I could not get past his previous role as Spider-Man. In fact he still had the smirk on his face throughout the movie. The other thing was although the action looked so real, but I did not understand why as incoming new recruits that they did not get a buzz hair cut. In fact, this happens even in todays Army. That was a big mistake on a movie that tried to make everything realistic.
