Hardcore for the new generation

When you think of hardcore, what comes to mind? Madball, Agnostic Front, Cro-Mags, SIck Of It All, Discharge, Biohazard? Those are old-school hardcore bands. Terror are more in line with newer bands like Hatebreed, Earth Crisis, and Throwdown. That's not to say they're any less like any older bands, and this album shows it.

This is Cannibal Corpse, nothing more or less. I know it's not saying much, but it's really good. This was obviously where the band came to a point where founding member Jack Owen would leave the band soon after the release of the album. It's not the greatest, but it's still worthy of your attention.

For both the band and the listener, this album is an exercise in endurance not only in length, but also technicality. By that, I think the band put a lot into their performance and spared nothing. This is an intense and engaging album that clocks at about 96 minutes and will leave you exhausted, but satisfied.

There was trepidation when Dream Theater parted ways with longtime founding member Mike Portnoy, but it was eventually put to rest when former James Labrie collaborator Mike Mangini joined in time for A Dramatic Turn Of Events. This is Dream Theater in top form, not that they have been recently.

One of the best from one of the best

This was an underrated album when it came out in 1998 on Roadrunner Records, so it makes sense to remaster and reissue it 10 years later during the band's reunion. This is an extreme slab of metallic hardcore that you'd regret not getting if this is your kind of music.
