The good news for the indigenous people of a northern Quebec reservation was that they appeared to possess genetic immunity from an erupting zombie plague. The bad news would become apparent months later, as the community would split on how to face this new world-from the disposition of the white survivors they took in to dealing with the shambling hordes without. At first glance this may seem like just another zombie movie, but it’s not just that. It is a smart, multi-layered film due to being written, directed, and starring Indigenous artists, from Canada. Natives, both Canadian and American, do not have nearly enough representation in the horror genre, and that makes this a groundbreaking film for that reason alone. Highly recommended!

The definitive collection, and probably the last one you’ll ever need (unless they do a 4K release in the future). The first four films have never looked better, period! And if you’re a 3D supporter (we’re a dying breed these days, but we’re out there!) then you will love finally having a proper 3D release of Part 3! Also, having the Unrated Cut of Jason Goes to Hell is a major plus! The bonus features are very informative, though it’s a shame that the Crystal Lake Memories documentary isn’t included. That’s not to take away from what Scream Factory put together. This is an AMAZING collection!

Criterion is always a great company when it comes to quality in their DVD/Blu-ray product, and this is no different. In this set you get all four of Bruce Lee’s Golden Harvest films (The Big Boss, Fist of Fury, Way of the Dragon, Game of Death) AND you get his sole American film, Enter the Dragon. All in great visual and audio quality. This is particularly a great release if you missed out on the single releases of the Shout Factory blu-rays from a few years back. The Enter the Dragon restoration is even better than the 40th Anniversary release from several years ago. Highly recommended.

This is a not only a great horror film, it is also a great coming-of-age film from the female perspective (or at least it is a metaphor for one). Walter Hill (The Warriors, 48 Hours) directs this film starring the late great Bill Paxton and underrated William Sadler, along with rap legends Ice T and Ice Cube. All the performances are great. The Shout Select blu-ray has great picture quality and audio. It feels just the way it did in the cinema when I seen this as a kid. Highly recommended, especially if you’re a fan of the actors or director.
