I am using this as a productivity monitor, as opposed to a gaming monitor. For that purpose, I think this monitor has a great balance of performance/size/price. It's large enough to fill a nice field of view at a comfortable distance, but without being so big that the 1080p resolution would lead to the pixel structure being too noticeable. Colors are very nice. Refresh rate/motion smoothness is good too -- but again, here I'm talking about work/productivity type use... I can't comment on how it'd be for gaming.

I've said this in a few other 4K UHD reviews, but it bears repeating here. This truly is a large improvement on previous releases, and gives the most film-like (in this case, large-format film-like) presentation of the movie that I have ever seen.
If you are even a casual fan of classic horror/thriller films, run out and buy this. Then buy Doctor Sleep when it comes out, too. :-)

Good, but limited rewatch factor

I haven't seen the Scandinavian original this is based on, but I did think this was a pretty decent movie - and it looks fantastic in 4K UHD.
Between the great frozen landscapes, farcical bumblings of the criminal element, and a lack of shyness from violence, I got a bit of a Fargo vibe from it even. But make no mistake, this movie is not close to being in the same league as the Coens' masterpiece.
I give credit to Neeson, as well as others in the cast, for successfully walking the tightrope of playing it straight while cheekily delivering the film's humor. Watching progressively higher-ranking bad guys get their comeuppance was fun. And the meta-game like body count tracking is a fresh touch. But I sort of regret purchasing the movie, because after watching it once, I don't feel much need to see it again. I'd tag this as a "rent" vs a "buy."

Just picked this up to rejuvenate a 5-year-old ultrabook that was slow due to being saddled with a glacial spinner drive. Had no trouble popping this into a SATA/USB enclosure and cloning the HDD image to it via Macrium Reflect (with a small tweak due to the SSD being smaller than the HDD). It then dropped right in place of the slim laptop-sized HDD and I was off and running. This change alone really did bring the ultrabook back to life! Everything is so much faster now... an amazing performance upgrade for a very small price - I like it.

From VHS to Laserdisc to DVD to Blu-Ray... and now to 4K UHD. Alien is one of those movies that is so great, it justifies double- and triple-dips and beyond as each new media format emerges. Very rewatchable, and the uptick in resolution and dynamic range on this latest release dials up the tension, excitement, and atmosphere beyond probably even the best early theatrical runs of fresh film prints in 1979! Outstanding.

Why didn't I get one sooner?

I have been doing sous-vide cooking for a couple of years now, and the whole time I talked myself out of buying a vacuum sealer, reasoning that it was too expensive / would not provide enough benefit to justify its cost over the immersion technique with freezer storage bags.
I was wrong! Especially given the price I got this for around Black Friday. Honestly, even at full price, this is a good value.
This unit is slim and compact, works with pre-cut bags or rolls, and it includes the ability to vacuum without heat-sealing, along with a simple automatic vacuum+seal button. You can also manually pulse vacuum to control how much air/liquid is drawn out for delicate/wet items, which some other units can't do.
The result is much better air removal than I ever achieved immersing zipper bags, for better conduction from water bath to food - the bags also tend to sink and stay submerged better. Excellent!

It works very well for mixing protein shakes, and is good for smaller single-serving smoothies as well. Operation is very simple, and cleanup is pretty quick and easy too.
Things to watch -
Don't overfill; you may be better off making 2 small batches versus 1 big one (because if you do overflow, then cleaning is no longer easy)
Limit amount of frozen items and size of individual frozen pieces; this has a strong motor and blades, but heavy-duty frozen blending is more than it can comfortably handle

I ended up tagging along with a group of people to see this in the theater when it came out. I went in with low expectations, but ended up really enjoying the movie! It does a great job balancing action, humor, and heart - and the animation style felt fresh and exciting, too!
I'm happy to say my positive theater experience was faithfully recreated with this 4K UHD disc release. The imagery and sound is just as phenomenal on my home system, and the movie is one I can rewatch and also share with my kids. Highly recommended.

Manage your cords and cables efficiently with this Insignia cord keeper, which attaches easily to any flat surface. I have 2 packs of these - one I am using for the intended purpose of cord-keeping, and the other I am using to prevent a wire-style paper towel holder from skidding around on a countertop (sounds weird, but it works!).
I have found that in the paper towel/countertop application, these are working great. The adhesive holds nice and securely. In the cord-keeping application, at least on the desks I've tried it on, the adhesive eventually lets go and the keeper starts to slide around. Probabaly comes down to laminate surface on counter vs painted or stained wood on desks.
This is probably tough to avoid - the alternative would be to make these too sticky/hard to remove without damage. At least that isn't the case here - these have yet to leave a mark OK anything I've stuck them to.

Prometheus was interesting - it's like all the ingredients for a great movie are there (director, DP, cast, the overall Alien series mythos)... and yet, the result is less than the sum of its parts.
There are high points - some good setpieces, characters, and performances. But overall, the story felt a bit predictable and by-the-numbers.
If you are a completist, and can catch this on sale, it's worth a buy. But you'll probably find yourself reaching for the other films in the series more often than this one.
