This is an upgrade from my original DVD series which for the time way back when was pretty decent but, in three gigantic Tricorder replicas that were also expensive. Now for a good price and more shelf friendly packaging, we finally get to see these classic episodes in Blu Ray glory. The transfer is fantastic and the aspect is true. I have only watched with the updated special effects (I don't mind a little tinkering as long as it's below Lucas level) they look great, are tasteful and I don't think they distract at all, while helping my overall enjoyment. The steel books are a nice touch and although a bit garish for some tastes, they are fun to look at. This is a must buy for fans of the original series as everything is extremely well done.

Yes you do. Bonkers great transfer. I've owned this in just about every format (HD-DVD anyone?) and I thought oh man, do I need to get this again? Comparing this to my Shout Factory blu-ray (which was great for the time) side-by-side (yes I did) makes the Shout version look almost silly color scheme wise. They've gone back to a chilly, blue and black scheme and it completely works on my Sony OLED. Absolutely zero adds to the features and maybe some takeaways but, I'll be keeping my Shout Factory for that. But, I will be watching this version from now on. Truly immersive picture for one of the top sci-fi horror movies of alltime.

Fantastic product that has already provided hours of fun for us. I've been skeptical of some of Arcade1Up's products seeing them in stores but, the build quality here seems very impressive. The cabinet is great, backlight is very cool and the plunger and flippers really help with the illusion that you're playing the real thing. The 10 games are all different and worthwhile which is a plus over an electro-mechanical game. The fact that it's digital pinball also allows a lot of non-real but, very fun things to happen, like Mr Fantastic stretching and taking pinballs off the playing field as part of a side mission. The high score listings for each game keep the multi-player competition going. It does take about 30-45 minutes to put together but, the packaging is ingenious and comes with a relatively simple bag of parts that work like they should with instructions that are mostly pictures and mostly very easy to follow. The legs to the machine are especially impressive. We've had and used this for about 3 weeks and so far it's everything we hoped.
From John Carpenter comes this chilling tale of a primordial essence unleashed from it's prison of seven million years by scientists. We don't know what the evil-looking liquid is in that ancient container, but with hordes of creepy crawlies around it, and a glow that turns folks into zombies, we bet it isn't Moxie. Donald Pleasence, Jameson Parker star. 102 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English; Subtitles English. Two-disc set.

A very nice transfer of a surprisingly influential Carpenter film. The 4k transfer is very good if not spectacular but, the original video effects are well done and surprisingly still chilling. It will explain how Carpenter got their first visually and why he is so influential. The film is arguably a bit dated but, fans of low budget will appreciate the shots and the pacing (glacial like The Fog or Precinct 13) and efficient use of the actors. Don't get this because you think Alice Cooper is in it a lot, get it because he's in it just enough. Very old school plot, weird, funky 70s/80s vibe that probably would have really worked had it went full documentary vibe, which was a few years off. But, as I say, see it just to view the nightmare/video sequences which are really well done and involuntarily set your nervous system on edge. Worth the time if you're not in a hurry or expecting a bunch of jump scares.

Wasn't sure I would ever watch this one again but, I was telling my son about this crazy flick, he seemed interested and the cheap price on a 4k pushed me back in. Totally worth it. The story is an over the top (but amazingly well done script) cautionary tale about drug use (of many forms) and the slide it creates but, if you view this as sort of a goofy but true life horror show it is unbelievably disturbing with some fantastic acting. The 4k transfer is really good. You now feel like you are entering this world and it's hellish consequences. This is not for everybody but, man if scaring people straight actually works, this might do it.
PATHETIC EARTHLINGS... WHO CAN SAVE YOU NOW? Super producer Dino de Laurentiis (Dune, Barbarella) brought Alex Raymond's beloved cartoon strip and the long running movie serial to the big screen with celebrated director Mike Hodges (Get Carter, Black Rainbow) at the helm, in a delirious space opera, where Flash is King of the Impossible! Merciless Emperor Ming (Max von Sydow) decides to wreak havoc on Earth in a moment of cruel boredom. Boarding a rocket as a means of escape, star quarterback Flash Gordon (Sam J. Jones), Dale Arden (Melody Anderson) and Dr. Hans Zarkov (Topol) find themselves on Mongo. Taken prisoner Flash must save Dale from becoming Ming's concubine, avoid the amorous intention's of Ming's wicked daughter Aura (Ornella Muti) and unite the warring Kingdoms of Mongo. With endlessly repeatable dialogue, inimitable camp style, the sonic stylings of Queen and a delightful band of characters and actors playing them it's no wonder Flash Gordon has become one of the most beloved sci-fi spectacles of it's era with directors such as Edgar Wright, Taika Waititi and Seth MacFarlane paying tribute to it in their work.

I love this movie. I've owned just about every version and format of it. This one is the ultimate. The picture is just perfect. Eye-popping gorgeous transfer, I think my mind was truly blown when the space ship went into the cloud and they started electrifying it. My Sony A8 OLED adores presenting this movie. It's earned it's reputation as a classic and you can spot the echoes of it's influence throughout the years. Overall, fantastically done, from the script to the cinematography to the acting. The 4K is very true to the picture, keeping the grain and emphasizing the (out of time) score. Why do I say out of time? Because it's not of the period and that threw me off right at the very beginning but, the extras do a great job explaining that and many other things which, if you like additional interviews and commentary, there's a lot of goodness in how this was made. Especially the story of Paul Newman sawing the Director's desk in half that he then nailed back together. LOL. Basically this is a movie for people who like movies and it's a must have on 4K. Well done.

Blade snuck by a lot of people including myself. If you are catching up with it, you should love this 4k transfer. Picture is top notch and the sound is very good. The shades of gray, brown and black is very appealing. Overall while a bit of a convoluted storyline it is good with the plot and action constantly moving forward. Great hero, great baddie, it's worth your evening.
