Until 4K, this IS the standard for AWIL
on March 16, 2019

Verified Purchase:Yes
To begin, I'm an owner of both this restored edition and Universal's prior AWIL blu ray release, the "Full Moon Edition".
While the AWIL:FME had a solid picture, it was the 2+ hours that solidified it as the premium version to own. With the newest version, a supervised restoration by John Landis that has ported over all the extras that made Full Moon so desirable, it has made the FME the victim of a silver bullet.
The question becomes whether or not AWIL:RE's visual upgrades warrant a double-dip to add to or replace the FME in your library. (If you don't own it at all, then yes, yes you should be purchasing this immediately after calling yourself "a meatloaf" (movie reference!) 25 times in a mirror).
That may come down to your level of patience, how big a fan you are, and how important having the best looking version of a film is to you.
As far as just how good this restoration is, it's FANTASTIC. The only real comparison I can make would be to the very best of Scream Factory's releases. (With their release of The Thing being perhaps the very best of all restorations I've watched). AWIL handles a lot of color correction, deepening of blacks, and sharpening of images with near perfection. And the best part of this is just what a difference it made in bringing Rick Baker's amazing FX even further to life.
As much fixing as they do, it would be understandable to be concerned that you'd lose the feeling that it was originally shot on film, becoming an overdone mess. Thankfully, that's not the case. Great care was used with this remaster, and in that regard, this is currently the best version of the film to own.
So, what really remains in making a decision is something we don't have an answer for...
When will the almost certain 4K release hit?
No word on that yet, but at the price this version is offered, for the die-hard fans of one of the top werewolf movies made, it's worth the inevitable dreaded "triple dip" when 4K is announced.

Great genre combo film

Overlord is one of the better hybrid horror films in memory, trailing perhaps only From Dusk Till Dawn in its level of fun.
Important to note, that by "hybrid" I'm not including "seamless" films, such as, say, Aliens, where action permeates the entire film, but those movies, such as the aforementioned From Dusk Till Dawn, that suddenly "switch gears". Where Dusk goes from a typical Tarantino-esque small time gangster film to a vampire buffet in its second act, Overlord likewise has a point where a World War 2 film goes to a "near" zombie film.
But, these aren't zombies, as the previews left many believing. These are more along the lines of Captain America super-soldiers gone horrifically wrong. (Although the serum being used does bring the dead back to life).
While the second half of Overlord may not be quite as successful as its opening act, it's because that first half is SO effective that any small failures can be overlooked.
Because, that introduction and ensuing story is among some of the better WW2 story-telling we've had in some time. The opening scene itself is a spectacle second only to the opening moments of Saving Private Ryan.
And from those beginnings through the soldiers' trek, the characterization is top-notch, with viewers developing a relationship with the soldiers as they head off towards their mission.
It's that relationship with the characters that keeps things moving when we have a stumble here and there with the monsters. Those stumbles are more a result of a budget, but even some dialogue explaining some of what we've been exposed to in the laboratory would have been welcome. There's some missed opportunities in the latter half, but nothing that makes the film fall apart or kill the enjoyment.
Definitely a fun film to add to your library.

Decidedly Mature Fare

This review is broken into two parts here. In the first, let's presume you know nothing of the game, so let's call this a warning for the parents who may have found this on their teen's birthday list. Secondly, we'll look at the game itself.
For the uninitiated, the Senran Kagura series has been about large scale battles, with one or two scantily clad protagonists fighting off hordes of enemies. During battle, clothes will be lost, and your character has access to a transformation that usually results in an even skimpier outfit being worn while granting stronger powers.
Along with this, new costumes can be purchased, and "private time" with one of the many ladies (the roster is approximately 40 strong) can be had. From dress-up, to posing, to attempting to make the girls blush/ stealing kisses, the whole thing is a mash-up of actual fun gameplay, often with great humor in combination with surprisingly solid drama, with a creepy voyeur (and further) vibe. It's certainly a stark contrast to Western sensibilities and not for our masses.
Onto the game itself- Peach Beach Splash removes the girls from the various ninja schools in their familiar fight settings and takes them to a friendly water gun tournament. Self-awareness reigns here, with questions why the tournament requires bikinis in another example of the humorous writing involved.
The tournament will allow you to play with 4 teammates against another team, with a slew of various water-based weapons and swappable power-up cards. After each game, you'll earn packs of cards that will level up weapons or those power up cards, lending a slight RPG element to the game. Action is fast, with an added "water based propulsion" system, with each girl wearing water "rockets" that can boost your movement speed as well as adding to your jump.
Beyond the single player campaign, which is a pretty lengthy affair, with each of the schools getting their own story, the skirmish mode, unlocks, there is a full online multiplayer mode, as well, so plenty is on offer for those interested.
Overall, a fun game with some replay ability, but it is also intrinsically tied to its titillation and adult nature. If there's hesitation based on the Mature rating, be aware of that fact.

Possibly the best in the long history of Lego game
on February 16, 2019

Verified Purchase:Yes
I've been a long-time buyer and player of the Lego games- in some cases, just for myself, and in other cases, purchasing for the day when I would have my own "mini-me" to play with.
Once my son did come along, we've tried various games in the series with varying degrees of success.
That changed a couple weeks ago when I grabbed Lego City Undercover. We've been absolutely addicted to this open world Lego game that's offered us around 30 hours of gameplay and only an overall 40% completion so far.
Unlike some of their other games, there's tons to do outside of missions, and rather than relying on licensed superheroes, you swap between various "undercover costumes" to gain the abilities you need to accomplish tasks or discover secrets.
With no license to adhere to, LCU really opens up, and instead of being a worry for gamers, should be embraced. The humor is perhaps the best its been and the freedom a joy.
LCU is, like many of their games, ideal for family play. As standard, there's split screen play, and a real joy has been listening to my 5 year old audibly work out the next steps needed as he works his way through a story mission or puzzle. 90% of the puzzles and challenges have been done perfectly for young gamers, but those 10% that fall outside that zone also vary between "a challenge for youngsters," and "what were they thinking when they designed this in a game geared for kids".
Atop that, there are occasional camera issues that can make LCU frustrating for young ones without much gaming experience, and even for those that have been gaming for a long time.
But overall, these issues are minimal, and if a parent is playing with their child, that maybe 10% of issues can be worked out easily.
This is a wonderful game, one that promotes family play by dishing out fun for gamers new and experienced alike, as well as taking the time to introduce new concepts slowly and gently, teaching some critical thinking skills to the youngsters.
An excellent purchase.

Wonderful Release

As I stated in an earlier review, the 80s featured a glut of vampire and werewolf films. While most simply attempted to cash in on the popularity, that decade didn't produce just several great films in each sub-genre, they brought us two of each (okay, a third in vampire sub-genre if you include the overhyped, already within weeks of feeling dated Lost Boys,) that can arguably be considered among the very best of all-time within their categories.
While Fright Night and Near Dark take the two spots on the vampire side, American Werewolf in London and this, The Howling, take top spots on the werewolf side. There's an amazing similarity between this pair of twos in how they're presented. One of each (Fright Night, American Werewolf,) opting to add generous doses of humor, while Near Dark and The Howling play straight to the hardcore horror crowd.
Boy, does The Howling get it right. Not only does it offer up one of, if not THE best lycanthrope tales on film, it gives us a great trauma survivor story, as well. If you're here for the werewolves, you're in for a real treat. Here we are, almost a full 40 years later, and the upright, eight-foot tall, perfect hybrids have yet to be topped. Amazing that they haven't just stood the test of time, but have proven to be out of reach for four decades from FX people of both the practical and CGI sides. (There is one, and only one instance in The Howling where the FX drops off the shelf, becoming almost a parody of itself, probably due to a budget/ time constraint issue where, in its climax, in silhouette against a moon, a full body werewolf rears back and howls. Inexplicably, this scene was done as an animation, and stands in stark contrast to the rest of the film, and with it being a quick shot, easily could have been edited out altogether rather than remain so laughably bad.
It's worth mentioning that this is the excellent Scream Factory release, packed to the gills with extras after a superb remaster.
Two audio commentaries, two featurettes, 4 interviews, deleted scenes (with or without commentary,) outtakes, still, trailers, and an episode of "Horror's Hallowed Grounds," where the host revisits many of the shooting locations of the film today.
As a bonus, watch for Star Trek: Voyager's straight-laced Holo-doctor, Robert Picardo (also on one of the commentary tracks,) as DECIDEDLY different (and with long locks!) Character, Eddie Quist here.

About time!

Fright Night, released in 1985, finally gets a proper blu ray release, a LONG time coming. Surprising, considering it spawned a sequel, had a planned 3rd film (until the Menendez Brothers murdered their parents- a fascinating story linked to Fright Night 3, worth a Google search!) A remake, and a sequel to the remake (OK, actually a second reboot direct to video).
And, while perhaps "finally" is the wrong choice of word, it IS finally available to the masses, having previously only been released through Twilight Time, in small quantities, leaving Fright Night a difficult find at a reasonable pricepoint.
Thankfully, Sony figured out the market for one of the best vampire films made was worth putting out in a wide release, and all fans should consider themselves luckier for that, not JUST that it was released mass market, but that Sony managed to secure the majority, if not ALL of the excellent extras Twilight Time packaged with their limited release, primarily the highly sought after "You're So Cool, Brewster!" Documentary and behind the scenes DOUBLE feature length film following both Fright Night and 1988 sequel, Fright Night 2. "Brewster!" Clocks in at three & a half hours, so make extra popcorn!
But, the fun doesn't end there- 2 audio commentaries, another 4 featurettes beyond "Brewster!" (Including one honoring acting treasure Roddy McDowell) as well as yet ANOTHER piece of gold, the first ever reunion panel of the cast and director Tom Holland at Fear Fest 2.
As to the film itself, it's not just one of the highlights of an 80s decade obsessed with vampires, it's arguably a highlight of the entire bloodsucker genre. It blends horror and comedy seamlessly together, making it palatable to even those not impressed with straight horror films, yet keeps its fangs buried deep enough to entertain even the most die hard horror-heads. Fright Night is to Near Dark much as American Werewolf is to The Howling... very much not just highlights of the 80s horror scene, but some of the very best in their respective sub-genres of vampires and werewolves, respectively, of ALL-TIME, yet two different "flavors," with Fright Night & American Werewolf opting to inject breathing room in the form of humor, whilst Near Dark & Howling opt to stay the course of straight horror.
Whether you're a long time fan of Fright Night or a newcomer, this is the release to put on your shelf. Don't wait, because you're "in for a most frightful night" with this packed disc!

Wonderful

I was both excited and leary of Once Upon a Deadpool when it was announced.
On one hand, with as much as Deadpool has become visible, my 5yr old wants to know more and see the films.
On the other, as a big fan, and having seen Deadpool 2, I wondered whether it could truly make enough changes to justify being re-released, while also keeping enough in to even make the film comprehensible with the necessary edits.
It ticked every box imaginable and moreso. My 5yr old son finally felt like he was in on something he wanted to see, but couldn't, and the new scenes with Fred Savage were true LOL moments.
With the joys of the movie itself, there are a few negatives:
First, the only true minus about the film was the curious choice to edit down the electrifying of Juggernaut- power cord, meet Juggernaut butt. It was so brief and tame in the original film and truly only hinted at, to see it gone, especially at a PG13 film, where you're guaranteed to get a laugh from the kids, this was an odd choice.
Second: having seen the movie in the theater, I was shocked that among the mid-credits and post-credits scenes, the brief, but touching tribute to Stan Lee that ended the credits was simply not included. Extremely disappointed. That scene brought a tear to the eye in the theater, so its lack of inclusion here is just disappointing.
Lastly: you're getting a barebones blu ray (at a barebones price) but ANY kind of extras would have been appreciated, even if it was just the aforementioned Stan Lee tribute. But, what would have been REALLY appreciated? Some behind the scenes of filming the new footage, editing of the film, and even a separate intro by Deadpool, welcoming new fans. There was a bunch that could have been done in this unique re-release in filmmaking.
That said, with the Deadpool almost yearly double-dip on his films, I wouldn't be surprised should this be re-released soon with extras and this was pressed simply to get it into hands quickly. (Honestly, this was delivered to our home less than 3 weeks after seeing it in the theater).
Overall, this remains a fun film, one that has surprisingly kept its spirit despite the almost mind-boggling amount of edits necessary to get it the lower rating... especially considering they may have erred on the side of caution a bit much in the Juggernaut scene. The lack of extras and loss of Stan Lee tribute is disappointing, and perhaps something restored in a double-dip, but for $15, the risk is perhaps worth it to add to your collection and take a chance, especially if you have a younger one that has had Deadpool sensory overload by the massive campaigning, but kept from seeing the films by their youth.

Supersized fun for whole family!

"Whole family?" You ask.
"Indeed!" Is the reply.
My 5 year old, hitting the age where he wants to be involved with the "cool" stuff... where seeing a preview for a movie that he wants to see and the response has to be "no" to many, was happy that after my wife & I previewed The Meg, was able to watch it, and loved every single moment of this two hour film. (This really was a great year for Dads like myself, who are into horror, but have young ones at home that are aware of our love, but aren't yet old enough to participate. Between Meg, Venom, and Once Upon a Deadpool, both horror & "what's currently cool" was made available in ways to include our under-17 kids).
The Meg falls into more action than actual horror, and while there's a couple scenes many parents may not want their kids seeing, those bloody scenes are restricted to Meg on sea creature violence- a food chain connection rather than gratuitous violence for violence's sake.
Does this mean no humans perish at the hands... errr... flippers of The Meg? Of course not, but those scenes are amazingly blood-free to the point of disappointment to those going in expecting an ocean full of body parts.
Where everyone wants a piece of shark films since Jaws hit us 40 years ago, a genre SyFy never says "no" to, that's become a mockery of itself... in LARGE part due to SyFy and their mass produced "contributions" to the genre (and despite honest attempts from elsewhere,) there's only 6 truly great, fun shark films: the original Jaws, the first Deep Blue Sea, the under the radar Aussie film, Bait, 47 Meters Down, The Shallows, and now The Meg.
The steelbook art is gorgeous, and like many 4K films, it always seems like those featuring water tend to have more highlights for the format, and The Meg does NOT disappoint.
A ton of fun, and one I ACTUALLY hope they investigate a sequel for.

Fun, but disappointed.

All righty, where to begin?
First, I'm an Alien & Predator "super-geek" with the basement in my home devoted to both franchises. I hold Alien 3 responsible for, despite being an attempt at continuing the franchise, personally responsible for the downfall of the Alien series.
How is this connected?
It's at this point, this turning point in FOXs two tentpole sci-fi/monster series that the towel was thrown in and it became acceptable to simply turning out pulp films where having these creatures simply appear was good enough.
And that's where films like Alien: Resurrection, the AVP films, Predators and The Predator have been comfortable remaining since.
While the first two films in both the Alien & Predator franchises were executed with both entertainment and a semblance of continuity respectful of increasing canon, subsequent films need to be viewed with a mindset of simple pleasures and action.
The Predator manages to deliver on these two subjects, giving us plenty of action to drool over and thankfully, some fun characters, as well. UNfortunately, the duo of Shane Black & Fred Dekker, much like Ridley Scott's return to the Alien franchise, simply don't deliver on the hype. Their return doesn't mark a return to greatness, it's just familiarity somehow diluted by being away from "their" franchises for so long. They lost something along the way and they didn't find it upon their return.
So, bad news aside, is The Predator worth it?
As long as you go in just wanting action with an old friend in the Predator itself, sure! There's fun action, some funny comedy, and a great cast.
Don't let the reviews blasting the inclusion of the young son ward you off. He's wonderful and necessary to this story.
What you SHOULD worry about is the tired trope of "make the big bad bigger and badder" (much like Predators- so unnecessary and lazy writing,) as well as the last 5 minutes. You've probably read (and seen the photos,) of the now infamous "crossover" surprise ending that would have seen either Ripley or Newt arrive from the Aliens universe (and many a fans' personal universes where Alien 3 is written off for how hackneyed they were handled,) and maybe even thought- "wow, that's awful". Scary to believe the ending we DID get appears to be some War Machine (from Avengers) crossover that's equally as bad.
The Predator, IS however, a fun movie to toss in when you want some explosions, humor, escapist fun, or even background entertainment as you get work done.
The 4K looks great in this film, with lots of use of light, dark, and contrast, and for those with a steelbook collection, it may have my outright favorite art to display.

Get the band back together!

Take this nugget of info in your consideration while reading.
I'm still relatively new to 4K, and my focus, (with an 1100+ film collection,) has been on using this format where it shines best: most of the new releases and replacing older, previously owned films that utilize FX as a major film device.
While my library in 4K is still small, Avengers fit the bill on the latter category, as well as being packaged in my latest love: a steelbook.
The only "rehash" I'll give on Avengers as a film, is that among them all, Infinity War included, it's still my favorite of the Avengers film- even if only by the VERY slightest of margins, and really... only due to the magic of realizing a fully-fleshed out film featuring so many main characters without any of them truly suffering in this major get-together. It really was the first of its kind, laying the groundwork and standard for future Avengers AND DC'S Justice League.
As far as worthiness into a double dip to your wallet, in my opinion, it's a resounding "yes!" While some MAY be disappointed there's no new extras, that would be a poor excuse not to re-invest in one of the best looking, (again, my experience is still limited,) non-native 4K filmed movies upgraded to this new standard.
As a non-native 4K recorded movie, Avengers still stacks up against some of the very best that were filmed and released theatrically to take advantage of this new format, and of the films I own that fall into this "upgrade from non-4K" it really only ranks behind Peter Jackson's King Kong in highlighting what great care can accomplish in the upgrading process. Even then, Kong only outshines Avengers due to its more "natural" environments, settings, and detail- the skies, trees, and fur all really highlight an amazing usage that may be unfair to hold most non-native 4K upgraded films to as a standard.
Do not take that comparison as a negative against Avengers. If it weren't for Kong, Avengers and possibly 1987's Predator 4K (all of which can be found at Best Buy, of course!) Would absolutely be the gold standard. I'm not always overly positive about Disney, but there's no doubt they spared nothing when taking such a tentpole film and began this update.
It's gorgeous, it's beautiful, it's Marvelous, and it absolutely deserves a second spot on your movie shelf.
Excelsior!

Will the ps5 be in there

The actual PS5 console? No.

This is a collector's edition of the game that includes a large replica statue of Mjolnir (Thor's hammer,) along with a few other small physical items and some digital "goodies" to redeem for use in the game in the PlayStation Store... it also (as I recall) does NOT include an actual game *disc* you DO get the game, but it will be via a digital code you, again, redeem on PlayStation Store... despite the ridiculousness of including a steelbook *FOR THE DISC* lol (this is done to tempt some into possibly purchasing God of War's regular edition at another $60).

This is not a God of War-themed PS5, like the recent SpiderMan PS5 that sold out quickly.

While I find the lack of the game disc (which costs pennies to print) to be a scummy practice, these high priced, highly-sought collector's editions are becoming necessary by developers. The cost to make these big-budget games rivals that of huge Hollywood productions, while the $60 price paid (now becoming $70) for the "regular" edition of games has been the standard for near 2 decades. (Heck, back in the day when there wasn't an "across the board" standard for video games, some new Nintendo games were being sold up to $100).
So, developers have, more and more, begun relying on these collector's editions to help offset the costs associated with development, because scaling the $60 from 20 years ago to keep up would be closing in on $100 today. By issuing these collector's editions, which sell out to either the mega-fans of the series or characters (or the "sharks" who swoop in, cause them to sell out in a minute after going up for purchase, only to post on eBay for double the price to the actual fans,) this helps bring in cash they'd otherwise lose if they attempted to sell their games at $100 apiece.

There ARE, on occasion, "branded" versions of consoles (like the aforementioned, recent Spider-Man PS5 console,) but they are always clearly marked as the PS5 (or XBox) CONSOLE. Many will include the game (the Spider-Man PS5 is being released to hype up the upcoming Spider-Man 2 video game. The game comes out next month, and as such, does not include the game, because it's not out yet).

So, while the price may have your eyes watering, this is simply the game and both physical and digital goodies for the hardcore God of War fan, but no PS5 console/ system included. As this is becoming more common from developers, please remember, if the console IS included, it will say so, and, in the photos, often likely show the system.

Hope this helps!

Warmest regards!

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G Cell Phone for AT&T: This Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G cell phone can perform more daily routines efficiently and is packed with power while equipped with an intelligent battery that's big enough to share. The 6.9" Infinity-O display creates near-perfect images and features high-quality cameras with 3D depth sensing and 100x Space Zoom capabilities, capturing more details to create a realistic image. Backward-compatible with 4G networks.

Do you get any kind of discount by trading in S9+ for an unlocked S20 Ultra 5G? If so, how much? Also, since my old phone service is with AT&TV Wireless can I transfer info from the S9+ to the new phone and use it?

For the first part of your question- you should receive a discount on your old S9+, as long as it's in working condition and in good shape. How much of a trade in depends on these variables, but I can say that my old S8+ in working order, with no nicks or.scratches netted me $200 towards the S20 Ultra.

As for the 2nd part of your question: yes! Once you bring your phone in and begin the process of registering and setting up your new phone, part of the process will be to transfer your photos, contacts, messages, and apps over to your new phone. This can be a bit of a lengthy process, depending on how much you have on your old phone. To expedite the process, you're best served to backup your photos onto your computer or into the cloud and delete them, as well as any apps you may have on your phone that you no longer use. Some of your apps will continue to download in the background even after you leave with your new phone, but this part of the process took about an hour. And yes, I'm an AT&T customer, as well.

All told, I spent about an hour and a half in store, and some larger apps finished downloading once I was home on my WiFi connection. Good luck on your new phone!

Gather your friends together for wild adventures in JUMANJI: The Video Game for PlayStation 4. Team up with friends locally or online to confront dangerous enemies and avoid deadly traps. New outfits and weapon styles are unlocked as you play so that no two rounds of JUMANJI: The Video Game are ever the same.

Is this a 2 player game?

Jumanji supports up to 4 players locally, so feel free to gather the whole family around the TV!
In order to do so, everyone will need a controller, but local play- as long as everyone has a controller- supports anywhere from someone playing alone, all the way up to 4 players.
I'm unaware of how "busy" the online portion of the game is, but it does also feature online play for 2-4 players.

It's a fun family game, with no major systems to learn, so even the young ones can enjoy it. Our family of 3, including a 6 year old, has had a blast playing together- the only part that may be frustrating to a younger gamer would be a lack of a map; some levels, with twists and turns, may present a challenge until they're learned.

Outside of that, the 3 of us enjoy sitting down to play Jumanji together!

Defy the gruesome odds in World War Z for PlayStation 4. Six class levels provide distinct combat styles, and Swarm Engine technology unleashes massive flocks of zombies for an intense battle galore setting. Aim to be the last squad standing in a fast-paced free-for-all on player-versus-player-versus-zombies mode in World War Z.

does this pro-order coming with the Lobo Weapon Pack???

Yes, but keep in mind the following:
The Lobo pack is nice, but if you don't get it (I had no code with the game, it was just in my inventory,) it's no big deal. Yes, the multi-tool is different, but does the same damage as the machete (and honestly, the machete is cooler, IMHO).
Yes, you get 3 gold varient weapons that do more damage than their base counterparts... but, this is where it gets tricky. Those gold varients are NOT as powerful as the highest level weapons. And THIS is where it's important: those Lobos did not earn XP while using them. So, if you want to eventually unlock the most powerful AK-47 (well, their version of it,) you won't be earning any XP towards it while using the Lobo AK. AND, ATOP THAT, the Lobos are not silenced. While the basic rifle versions eventually earn that as you level, the starting varient pistol begins silenced, while the Lobo doesn't. Most maps, the opening section is almost always set up in a way where silenced weapons are a bonus to have.
So, if you don't get the Lobo pack, you can, (I believe) purchase it separately via PSN, but honestly, they hamstring progress towards the best versions to own.
