Fun film!

I had hesitancy buying this film blind, as I hadn't had a chance to catch it during its theatrical run.
It looked kind of bland in the previews, and that transformation scene in the trailers that quickly became a meme giving Venom giant googly-eyes was something that just looked "off".
Still, my 5 year old really wanted to see this, and yes, I could have rented it, but it's a superhero film, I'm a sucker for exclusive steelbook art, AND it included early access to watch it via Vudu with the preorder, so, armed with a friend's recommendation, I took the plunge.
Happily, this removed my worries. It's probably more of a 4 1/2star film for me, but the enjoyment my son has gotten from it is worth rounding up. (As well as the hours of laughs afterwards as my son would imitate Venom's deep-voiced growl of "HUNGRY!" whenever he was... well, hungry).
Venom is a Sony film, and without the Marvel cooperation found in Spider-Man: Homecoming, it does suffer *slightly* in just missing the mark of the "loftier" MCU standards in their films.
Yes, it still has plenty of action, humor, and a top-tier actor in the lead (as well as an excellent performance by the "big bad" whose name/ actor escapes me at the moment,) but there's a certain "aura" missing here that I can't quite place: maybe it has something to do with Venom's scenes largely, if not exclusively, playing out at night, which IS a bit against the film's favor.
Still, whatever downgrade there is between the more "mainstream" Marvel movies and Venom may go completely unnoticed by you. It's still a heck of a lot of fun, with some of the best laugh out loud moments, (not just in quality, but quantity, as well,) with plenty of action and wonderful setpieces that holds up with ANY recent superhero films.
The FX are mostly excellent, but there's a few that don't always look as great as others, as well as the aforementioned love of making much of the film take place at night, which does take away from some impressive effects. Venom fighting the Big Bad, when both suits are being pulled away from their hosts, filling the screen with alien liquid and the respective actors, could have been even more impressive had there been better definition between the night sky and two dark/ black aliens. Even in 4K HDR, this scene could have "popped" even further had it not been (yet ANOTHER) nighttime action scene.
I will add that Venom also avoids the oft-boring "origins" first film story. Its pacing for a superhero first film seems tighter, with as much, if not more, action taking place.
Venom has some minor issues, but as a whole, it's an enjoyable romp that bodes well for the future of the franchise!

One of the best zombie films in recent memory

Train to Busan is an absolute blast of a time. Non-stop action filtered through the view of fleshed out and sympathetic characters makes this two hour film just fly by.
While Busan is most certainly great all by itself, its excellence draws me to think of this as a part of, if not a "true" story within the World War Z universe portrayed in the book, (not the film).
Those who read the definitive zombie novel/ collection had many an issue with the WWZ film, and had the studio had a larger world view of what could have been accomplished when getting the rights to the stories, Busan could have been one of the finest entries in a series of films- a series of films collected and financed by the studio from around the world. Each film, much like the various stories, could have taken place in a different part of the world, featuring different actors, at different points in the zombie outbreak timeline.
In return, a film like Busan would have garnered a larger audience by being given a wider theatrical release, one that matched its critical reception.
Busan fits so comfortably in the WWZ universe, (even the one portrayed in the film,) its easy to see it as such. The action often features similar rolling masses of zombies, particularly one beautifully filmed scene as they switch trains.
And that is as specific as I'll get- the less you know, the better, as far as specifics go.
As far as the disc itself goes, you can choose to watch it either dubbed or with subtitles, but the one omission here I really would have loved to have seen included would have been the animated "Seoul Station" the prequel to Busan that helped get this movie financed and made.
Outside of this one ache, this is a must-own for fans of zombie or action films. It hasn't gotten the widespread press it should have, but those critics that bothered, as well as the fans, have thoroughly enjoyed it, and with good reason. While action is fast-paced and hard-hitting, it finds the time to allow viewers to get to know and care about its characters, something far too many modern zombie films fail to do.

Stunning!

How do you describe Mandy? That one word title simply isn't enough.
Let's begin with a disclaimer before giving you a rundown of what Mandy is... I'm an artist myself, a movie-lover with over 1100 films in my collection. In both instances, I'm also a "basic" guy. My all-time favorite artists, outside HR Giger, are more likely to be found in the pages of comic books than hanging on museum walls. You'll find multiple copies of films like Alien, Aliens, or Predator than a single Ingmar Bergman flick.
Keep this in mind when reading what is written next.
Mandy is beautiful. It's gorgeous. It's breathtaking. It's a revenge film that took all those mentioned prior and has made art house palatable for the masses.
If you're like me and use the majority of your film-time as release, as indulgence, you're going to enjoy this intrusion into your typical fare of art, metaphor, and reflection. None of it replaces any of the story, it enhances it in ways you never thought was necessary, but leaves you wanting more films exactly like it.
At its heart, Mandy is horror, action-revenge, and drama, all packaged in one of Nic Cage's best performances. He runs the gamut to extremes in ways only he can do, even pulling some of the finest psychosis since Vampire's Kiss (giving us the meme-worthy, "YOU RIPPED MY SHIRT!" in the process).
Panos Cosmatos, son of Tombstone director George Cosmatos, has truly made a modern day arthouse masterpiece that speaks to the masses that fall on either side of the cinema line. Mandy shouldn't be missed, no matter which group you throw your hat in with.

THE definitive edition!
on December 28, 2018

Verified Purchase:Yes
Let's start with a truth. I'm not the one for an unbiased opinion on Jackson's King Kong. I LOVE this film. One of the top 10 of films in my lifetime (I'm 47 for reference).
I adored this film in the theaters. When it released as a Deluxe Extended 3-Disc Edition DVD, I gobbled it up and was STUNNED at just how much the studio forced PJ to cut. Certainly, the runtime was long enough, even after the cuts, and it wasn't the quantity of the edits, it was the sheer quality of what was pulled out. Mind you, had they left in these excellent scenes, almost all based around action, and made those edits elsewhere, say from narrative, it FEELS like we would have been left with largely a 3hour movie trailer of fights.
Still, much like his Lord of the Rings films given the uncut treatment, when it comes down to it, it's almost unfathomable studios demand PJ make ANY cuts, as they invariably remove action scenes and still leave us with lengthy movies that should come with built-in intermission breaks. Removing dinosaur stampedes, raptor attacks, and Piranhadon fights is shameful and should cost people jobs that make such decisions.
After moving to blu ray, they released a KK disc that featured both the theatrical and extended editions, but was missing the ENORMOUS amount of extras that came in that 3-disc DVD set. (It has somewhere in the vicinity of 15 various bonus features). So, I grabbed that.
Then came the Ultimate Edition blu ray, which had both film versions and restored the majority of the 15 bonus features from DVD, and I grabbed THAT.
So, of course, after I upgraded to 4K and saw the low asking price of this- $16- for one of my all-time faves, I couldn't NOT add that version to my collection, now could I?
Now, this appears to be the "definitive (almost) definitive" edition. It's still the Ultimate Edition as far as extras, (I *BELIEVE* it's missing 2 or 3 small bonus features from the ancient 3disc DVD version, hence why I kept that set,) while upgrading the film to 4K. (Note: like with the regular UE blu ray of Kong, many of the featurettes are NOT upgraded, and remain in their standard definition format!)
Is it worth it?
As I said, I'm biased. BUT, still, at more than 1/2 off the price of newer 4K titles, I believe yes... yes, it is. Kong is gorgeous in 4K, with many scenes not this jaw-dropping since I saw it in the theater. However this transfer was handled should be THE standard for older, pre-4K films moving to the new format. My 4K library is still growing, but this was one of my favorites as it rolled along.
I simply cannot find a reason NOT to double, triple, or, like in my instance, quadruple dip on this film if you have 4K.

Continued fun, blah blah blah

Hotel Transylvania 3 proves there's still plenty of bite left in the series, even if it feels just a touch long in the tooth.
Perhaps the ratio of LOL jokes to eye-rollers aren't quite as favorable as in the previous two installments, but there's plenty of blood left to be drawn on, where you'll realize it may be a touch short of the standard it's set for itself, but still rises above 75% of the family movies produced currently.
It entertained our family, with our son a bit of a HT snob- he's adored the first two films, really enjoyed this one (especially "Sprinkles," the newest member of the Dracula family, Denisovich's pet dog,) but watched all of one episode of the Netflix series cartoon and immediately pronounced it, "NOT MY Hotel Transylvania".
What I respect most about the Hotel Transylvania series, above say, Cars, (which my son also adores,) is that it isn't tied intrinsically to merchandising. New characters don't feel pressed into service as a new toy for the Disney overlords. Characters are allowed to exist much more naturally in the story- while I'm lucky enough that my son doesn't often feel a need to want the newest Car character, (in fact, i'm more likely to hunt it down as a gift for him if he seems to enjoy the character in question,) it's refreshing to know that watching a family movie won't be tied to neverending commercials to sell the newest tied in toy releases that pull at a child's desires.
HT is a wonderful series, and it may have lost a quarter step here in the 3rd story, it's still a fun film that will keep the kids and adults entertained. Even if a Hotel Transylvania 4 doesn't return to 5 star territory, if it manages to match the third film, it will remain a welcome, fun, and funny series for the entire family to enjoy!

Just as irreverent as the first

If you loved the original, you'll love the sequel.
There may not be that original "shock" of the first film as a fully-realized superhero goes fully into breaking the rules with over the top carnage and language... because, let's face it, 'Pool already broke those rules into a million tiny pieces, but it's more of the same with a budget to match. No "playing it safe against a potential box office flop". Deadpool is given many more dollars to play in his world, and fans are better off for it.
4th wall-breaking, off-color humor & language, and plenty of bloody violence ensure you're getting all the Deadpool for your buck!
XForce cannot happen soon enough!

One of, if not THE, best in the MCU
on August 17, 2018

I kind of waffle on where Infinity War falls on the list of "the best" in the MCU films.
As a 47 year old who grew up with his nose in (mostly) Marvel comics, there were only three other "eye openers" in the MCU.
First, when the original Iron Man hit. It was proof, when given proper care, a superhero movie could live up to the comics.
Second, when Guardians of the Galaxy came out, that (as an avid reader of the original GotG comics, where Yondu (and the characters making a cameo in Vol2)) that a third tier series, in capable hands, could be just as impressive as the "big leaguers".
Lastly, when the original Avengers blew into theaters. The culmination of all the prior films, a movie that proved so many larger than life heroes could share the screen properly. It was a feeling of something huge, something unseen prior and, despite its success, may be difficult to duplicate.
Infinity War somehow managed to up the ingredients, bringing all but a couple heroes from the now expanded MCU into the mix, up the stakes, and surpass expectations. It's the kind of event that the comics would spread out over 5 or 6 titles and 3 or 4 months, successfully smashed into a 2 movie event.
If you're one of the dozen people who didn't see this in the theater, make sure you sit down with Thor Ragnarok first, as it'll have the answers to several questions (particularly about Thor and the opening of the film,) laid out to begin Infinity War.
One of the brightest jewels in the MCU gauntlet.

Will the ps5 be in there

The actual PS5 console? No.

This is a collector's edition of the game that includes a large replica statue of Mjolnir (Thor's hammer,) along with a few other small physical items and some digital "goodies" to redeem for use in the game in the PlayStation Store... it also (as I recall) does NOT include an actual game *disc* you DO get the game, but it will be via a digital code you, again, redeem on PlayStation Store... despite the ridiculousness of including a steelbook *FOR THE DISC* lol (this is done to tempt some into possibly purchasing God of War's regular edition at another $60).

This is not a God of War-themed PS5, like the recent SpiderMan PS5 that sold out quickly.

While I find the lack of the game disc (which costs pennies to print) to be a scummy practice, these high priced, highly-sought collector's editions are becoming necessary by developers. The cost to make these big-budget games rivals that of huge Hollywood productions, while the $60 price paid (now becoming $70) for the "regular" edition of games has been the standard for near 2 decades. (Heck, back in the day when there wasn't an "across the board" standard for video games, some new Nintendo games were being sold up to $100).
So, developers have, more and more, begun relying on these collector's editions to help offset the costs associated with development, because scaling the $60 from 20 years ago to keep up would be closing in on $100 today. By issuing these collector's editions, which sell out to either the mega-fans of the series or characters (or the "sharks" who swoop in, cause them to sell out in a minute after going up for purchase, only to post on eBay for double the price to the actual fans,) this helps bring in cash they'd otherwise lose if they attempted to sell their games at $100 apiece.

There ARE, on occasion, "branded" versions of consoles (like the aforementioned, recent Spider-Man PS5 console,) but they are always clearly marked as the PS5 (or XBox) CONSOLE. Many will include the game (the Spider-Man PS5 is being released to hype up the upcoming Spider-Man 2 video game. The game comes out next month, and as such, does not include the game, because it's not out yet).

So, while the price may have your eyes watering, this is simply the game and both physical and digital goodies for the hardcore God of War fan, but no PS5 console/ system included. As this is becoming more common from developers, please remember, if the console IS included, it will say so, and, in the photos, often likely show the system.

Hope this helps!

Warmest regards!

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G Cell Phone for AT&T: This Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G cell phone can perform more daily routines efficiently and is packed with power while equipped with an intelligent battery that's big enough to share. The 6.9" Infinity-O display creates near-perfect images and features high-quality cameras with 3D depth sensing and 100x Space Zoom capabilities, capturing more details to create a realistic image. Backward-compatible with 4G networks.

Do you get any kind of discount by trading in S9+ for an unlocked S20 Ultra 5G? If so, how much? Also, since my old phone service is with AT&TV Wireless can I transfer info from the S9+ to the new phone and use it?

For the first part of your question- you should receive a discount on your old S9+, as long as it's in working condition and in good shape. How much of a trade in depends on these variables, but I can say that my old S8+ in working order, with no nicks or.scratches netted me $200 towards the S20 Ultra.

As for the 2nd part of your question: yes! Once you bring your phone in and begin the process of registering and setting up your new phone, part of the process will be to transfer your photos, contacts, messages, and apps over to your new phone. This can be a bit of a lengthy process, depending on how much you have on your old phone. To expedite the process, you're best served to backup your photos onto your computer or into the cloud and delete them, as well as any apps you may have on your phone that you no longer use. Some of your apps will continue to download in the background even after you leave with your new phone, but this part of the process took about an hour. And yes, I'm an AT&T customer, as well.

All told, I spent about an hour and a half in store, and some larger apps finished downloading once I was home on my WiFi connection. Good luck on your new phone!

Gather your friends together for wild adventures in JUMANJI: The Video Game for PlayStation 4. Team up with friends locally or online to confront dangerous enemies and avoid deadly traps. New outfits and weapon styles are unlocked as you play so that no two rounds of JUMANJI: The Video Game are ever the same.

Is this a 2 player game?

Jumanji supports up to 4 players locally, so feel free to gather the whole family around the TV!
In order to do so, everyone will need a controller, but local play- as long as everyone has a controller- supports anywhere from someone playing alone, all the way up to 4 players.
I'm unaware of how "busy" the online portion of the game is, but it does also feature online play for 2-4 players.

It's a fun family game, with no major systems to learn, so even the young ones can enjoy it. Our family of 3, including a 6 year old, has had a blast playing together- the only part that may be frustrating to a younger gamer would be a lack of a map; some levels, with twists and turns, may present a challenge until they're learned.

Outside of that, the 3 of us enjoy sitting down to play Jumanji together!

Defy the gruesome odds in World War Z for PlayStation 4. Six class levels provide distinct combat styles, and Swarm Engine technology unleashes massive flocks of zombies for an intense battle galore setting. Aim to be the last squad standing in a fast-paced free-for-all on player-versus-player-versus-zombies mode in World War Z.

does this pro-order coming with the Lobo Weapon Pack???

Yes, but keep in mind the following:
The Lobo pack is nice, but if you don't get it (I had no code with the game, it was just in my inventory,) it's no big deal. Yes, the multi-tool is different, but does the same damage as the machete (and honestly, the machete is cooler, IMHO).
Yes, you get 3 gold varient weapons that do more damage than their base counterparts... but, this is where it gets tricky. Those gold varients are NOT as powerful as the highest level weapons. And THIS is where it's important: those Lobos did not earn XP while using them. So, if you want to eventually unlock the most powerful AK-47 (well, their version of it,) you won't be earning any XP towards it while using the Lobo AK. AND, ATOP THAT, the Lobos are not silenced. While the basic rifle versions eventually earn that as you level, the starting varient pistol begins silenced, while the Lobo doesn't. Most maps, the opening section is almost always set up in a way where silenced weapons are a bonus to have.
So, if you don't get the Lobo pack, you can, (I believe) purchase it separately via PSN, but honestly, they hamstring progress towards the best versions to own.
