Had been waiting on Alita for years, didn’t disappoint. In an era where we get more or less the same Marvel movie over and over again (entertaining as they may be) it’s a shame this didn’t do better business in the states.
This release features excellent Dolby vision HDR that help pop this great mixture of live action and CGI awe well as a very active Dolby atmos track. The steelbook packaging is sharp and does include artwork on the inside as well.

Saving Private Ryan has one of the all time great opening scenes in film history. The rest of the film is pretty good too, but everyone will always go back to those opening 20 or so minutes.
The film is shot in a unique way with it's heavy grain and odd shutter speeds, and this 4K HDR presentation does a great job of handling those things and giving this film it's most organic to original theatrical run look. Also, the new Dolby Atmos sound mix is AMAZING. The steelbook is a fun bullet case.

No, Memoirs of an Invisible Man isn't going to top anyone's favorite John Carpenter's film list, but it IS kinda underrated. It's not him going for his master or horror tag, it's him having a fun time with a sci-fi infused version of North by Northwest.
The film look great for how old it is, with some nice bonus material. Enjoy reminding yourself that this in fact was a big stepping stone between Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park when it comes to the visual effects work Industrial Light and Magic were doing.

People often forgot about this 90's gem from Carpenter, where he put his love of Lovecraft and his friend Stephen King on full display. This release has the best visual presentation of the film yet, great artwork, and is chock full of great bonus material.

This isn't going to be a classic film on any AFI lists anytime soon, but if you're in the mood for an old school slasher, that has great atmosphere because of it's inspired location, this will be a fun ride.
The location and way it's shot make this an a 4K title that has some of the most fun HDR on the market. So many colors and highlights popping through and invading the screen while at the same time in very dark and shadowy locations.

This is probably Spike Lee's best move in 10 or 15 years, inspired work that speaks to the times. Adam Driver also continues to show he's extremely underrated when it comes to straight faced comedy or ridiculous situations in serious films.
The visual presentation is great, especially considering the wide variety of film sizes and stocks used to make this film. Highly recommended!

Horror and Horror Schlock isn't for everyone. I have has as many criterion collection titles as the next pretentious film cinephile, but I also enjoy the OTHER end of the spectrum. These films aren't for everyone and you'll either enjoy their quirkiness and oddball low budget nature or you won't. Great box set regardless, that does the best it can with the materials at hand.

You've most likely seen Karate Kid, but if you haven't, it's long considered one of the all time great underdog stories.
This new release is, like almost all of Sony's bluray and 4K releases, top notch and the best this film has ever looked or sounded. The Dolby Atmos is great without being TOO revisionist, and the visual presentation is beautiful and organically filmic.

Samuel L Jackson certainly earned his eponymous credit before he even speaks a word in the film. It was also great to see him in a comic film where the third act was not only unpredictable but didn’t revolve around a black hole in the sky...or a city getting destroyed...or the world watching it all unfold at some landmark. It even slightly tongue in cheek mocked that idea as even being necessary for a final showdown.
I feel like where the Marvel formulaic recipe and bright, glossy look is so embedded in the zeitgeist as “what a comic movie should be,” people are struggling that a third act of a trilogy ISN’T that. It’s not full of sprawling, world trekking setpieces or a CGI infested final act. Not to mention, while the film (like all of Night’s) has levity and comedy, it’s major drama and action moments arent infused with constant puns and one liners to remind you no one is really in danger. Cause, in this world, they are.
Anyhow this is a fun release that allows you to choose which character is your cover. The video and audio presentations are top notch as well.

I've seen Alien on the big screen both in 35mm and in this new 4K master's DCP version, and I've owned it on VHS on thru bluray. This new 4K release sits alongside of that aforementioned 4K DCP as the absolute best release of this flick ever. Just watch that "Jonesy!" scene with Harry Dean Stanton to see the deep blacks and HDR just POP.
The steelbook artwork is pretty cool too, and it features the original 70mm surround mix as a 4.1 option.
