A great surprise!

No one needed a Jumanji sequel or reboot, and I didn't have too high of hopes for this, though the trailer showed some promise. So I was really surprised upon finding it to be such a fun delight. The Rock has charisma for days, and his chemistry with Kevin Hart needs to be bottled and sold.
The UHD presentation just pops with the colors and creatures of the jungle and the dolby atmos soundtrack will rock your house and put your system to good use. The steelbook cover is a nice one and will please any collector or fan of the film!

Say what you want about Sony the company, but their back catalogue department is THE BEST in the biz as far as remasters and restorations go, and this has benefited their back catalogue UHD releases greatly. GROUNDHOGS DAY was in many ways the end of an era. Certainly the end of Harold Ramis and Bill Murray working together, and as sad as that was at least they went out on such a high note. This was also just about the end of Bill Murray's era as top billing comedy star, as he soon would be doing more oddball turns in Wes Anderson dramedies while tackling more dramatic turns in things like Lost in Translation.
The UHD looks truly filmic, with just the right touch of HDR, just a organically pleasing presentation. The audio gets an upgrade though this type of film isn't exactly going to be MAD MAX FURY ROAD as far as Atmos soundtracks go!

The Howling series went on and on and on...until the Howling 7 was so bad it killed franchise. Though it all goes back to the first one, Joe Dante's early film, and thankfully companies like Scream Factory give films like this the due that a normal studio wouldn't in this age of streaming taking precedence (quantity over quality!) over physical media.

This is kinda a forgotten western from the period, and I'm so thankful it's finally made it to bluray! Paul Newman is fantastic in it, as is the rest of the cast, and the bluray looks and sound phenomenal, putting the old DVD to shame!

Spaghetti westerns are owned by Sergio Leone, don't get me wrong! His WERE the best, his were the first and quite frankly, there's some people who think he was the only person to make them. That is of course, way wrong, and Sergio Corbucci made some fine ones during the same period. The best is almost unarguably THE GREAT SILENCE, which, in recent times, was a huge influence on every film students favorite director Quentin Tarantino's THE HATEFUL EIGHT.
Anyhow, this is a FANTASTIC presentation that looks and sounds as beautiful as a freshly printed 35mm version did back upon release. Even better, cause this one doesn't fade or scratch! Comes equipped with both Italian and English audio tracks and a nice little batch of bonus features as well.

Like oh so many, I slept on the awesome big tin box of Friday the 13th flicks that came out a few years ago. It went out of print, prices went sky high, and I was left stuck! Thankfully this was released, and while it doesn't include all the films or goodies that previous set did, it certainly fit the bill for what the wife and I were looking for this past October. Get some good slashers at a budget price!

I honestly got this for one reason, so I could watch Joe Bob Briggs make his triumphant return to the TV on Shudder with the Last Drive-in. I was not disappointed, and in fact while some other formats had trouble with the stream, the firestick rocked it! My wife loves it and has used it for several other apps like Prime Movies, Netflix, the CW app and other such things.

It's the Rock in a video game adaptation about mutations destroying a city. You're going to get exactly that, and it's fun for what it is. It's not the unexpected gem that the Jumanji sequel with the Rock was, but it's still a fun enough time when you're in that mood or wanting something to watch with family.
The steelbook has some nice art and is of good quality as per usual, though it's not exactly necessary collecting, but, like the film, it's fun. I can't help it. The quality of the 4K presentation and audio is top notch and the CGI monsters will certainly pop on your set!

Big upgrade from Season 10

Like many, I found the season 10 "limited event series" to be a bit of a mixed bag, with some episodes being better than others, and in fact some episodes being rather, well, not good. However I felt season 10 was, as a whole, quite excellent. Though the first episode was a bit of a rough start it immediately began to resemble the X-Files I love once the next episode hit.
As far as quality goes, the visual compression and depth the bluray provides absolutely KILLS the overly compressed streaming and cable versions. Also, the audio now pops with much more depth in it's uncompressed format here.
