Watching this in theaters, I was WAY into the first half or so of the film. Once it hit that third act - the one famously reshot and re-edited and hounded on by studio execs - I started to lose interest and then the "superhero" tacked on, please make a sequel ending really left a sour taste in my mouth.
As a huge fan of the franchise, and a mega fan of most of Shane Black's work, I gave it another go at home, and I'm glad I did. It's not the best Predator film you'll ever see, and I still hate that last scene, but the film is a real grower. It's not PC and doesn't pull any punches, there's a lot of old school 80's R-rated action, tropes and dialogue in here. I also appreciate the gang of guys and letting their characters develop some. Problematic but enjoyable once I let me initial reaction die down.
Anyhow, the home video release, bat your personal opinion, looks fantastic in 4K HDR and the Dolby Atmos sound mix (which I also heard in my Dolby Cinema theatrical screening) COOKS, should give your system a nice workout. There's deleted scenes, and while there's nothing revealing about the original third act scenes, there are a couple scenes that bridge together some story elements better.

With a new phone for my wife came the need for some much needed protection. Now, I could never talk her into an otter box or the like, cause they're just "too ugly" and what have you. This was a nice compromise in that it's pretty enough to look at, and, while I wish it was more protective, it does offer at least some protection - especially when mixed with a good glass protector.

It's strange to look at his films from this century and see Spielberg trying so hard, time and time again, to try and be taken seriously as an artist. He wants that so bad, to be looked upon as "grown up" from the popcorn pictures of his youth. Yet 25 years ago he proved his serious abilities with this film, beyond doubt. It's a living, breathing - and horrific - world in the film.
This home media version is top drawer too, Universal can be so hit or miss with their back catalogue remasters and restorations, but this is as good as it gets. The best audio and visual presentation one could hope for.

I've been waiting for this release since I got to see the restoration in IMAX earlier in 2018. The home media version doesn't disappoint, with the amazing new 4K transfer and the bonus of including both the remixed 5.1 and the original 70mm stereo surround audio presented in 5.1
The packing is also a step above of most modern releases, being housed in a nice box with some display cards. I can't recommend the film enough, nor this release.

Leone's other 4 big spaghetti westerns always get all the press, but this is a film that shouldn't be forgotten. It might not be THOSE films, but it's still a fantastic film that has its share of both entertaining and thought provoking elements. It's a nice bridge for the filmmaker between ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST and what would come over a decade later, ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA.
This film NEEDS a top dollar restoration, but it's still an enjoyable experience on this blu and it has a ton of bonus material.

This is the film that proves Kevin Costner can cheat on your Mom and push you way more than he should yet still find a way to be a great Dad. Also, Aaron Sorkin still thinks characters defining big words and phrases with little space in the scene makes for great dialogue.
That being said, it's an enjoyable film with some solid acting throughout.

The Bodyguard was quite the phenomenon when it came out. Don't believe me? Just look up it's worldwide box office total (and remind yourself that those are 1992 box office numbers!) and look up how well the soundtrack did.
Does it hold up? Well, mileage varies just like any film does, but as a Kevin Costner and early works of Lawrence Kasdan (the writer) fan, I still enjoy it even with it's dated aspects. I mean at the end of the day Whitney Houston basically sleeps with Kevin after he takes her to see an Akira Kurosawa film, so I can't complain much.
The bluray has a nice filmic quality to it, though it's not going to be your reference disc! The songs and music of course sound fantastic.

Hitchcock probably would have liked this film a lot, as it's a masterwork of suspense while still finding a way to work in some great surprises. I'm glad the film got a decent bluray release, including a nice commentary track from the director who I believe has since passed. This is likely the best we'll ever get this film on physical media.

I don't think a SW film has ever polarized audiences as much as The Last Jedi has, and it will be several years and further installations into the franchise until we really see where the reverberations from this land.
I have both positives and negatives to say about the film, so I'm gonna leave it pretty open cause no one needs me to go on a nerd induced coma of a rant concerning Star Wars mythos. I'll just say the steelbook is actually REALLY nice, but it's the presentation of the film that is lacking and gets 3 stars. The HDR looks rather, well, basic and even has raised black levels that don't have as much depth as there regular blu would on a plasma. The Dolby Vision is better but still not perfect, and the sound mix on this, much like THE FORCE AWAKENS, just doesn't have the depth and punch the prequels sound mixes did on bluray.
