“The Hunt for Red October” is the first film in the Jack Ryan film series. While Adam Baldwin is good as Ryan, though, this film belongs to Sean Connery as a Russian submarine commander who is trying to defect with a state-of-the-art Soviet sub called the Red October. With both the Americans and Soviets searching for him, Jack must try to figure out a way to convince everyone of the commander’s intentions. Plenty of great action and great performances make this a film worth watching again and again!

Writer and director Rian Johnson turns in a stellar film with plenty of fun humor and plenty of great twists and turns to keep you guessing until the end. Daniel Craig and Ana de Armas turn in fantastic performances in a film that is also filled with great supporting performances from the likes of Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon and Don Johnson. This was one of the greatest films of 2019 and is a fantastic film to watch again and again!

A Decent Sequel to an Immortal Classic

Make no mistake about it, “Doctor Sleep” is a bonafide sequel to Stanley Kubrick’s classic 1980 film, “The Shining”. Ewan McGregor does a great job as an adult Danny Torrence who is not only trying to deal with his ability to “shine” but also the demons from his past. This all comes to a head when he has to protect a young girl that is being targeted by a cult that kills those who can shine in order to maintain their youthful lives. The movie may not quite reach the heights of the original classic, but it definitely stands on its own and is a decent sequel to an immortal classic!

A Moody Thriller with a Decent Twist

“Shutter Island” is one of Martin Scorsese’s films that is somewhat overlooked in his vast filmography. However, Leonardo DiCaprio excels as a police detective who has to go and investigate a mysterious island that has a few surprises of its own.
Solid direction and cinematography lead the way in a story that is definitely worth either seeing for the first time or revisiting. The 4K Steelbook that just came out also looks pretty cool as well and it definitely captures the gothic mood set in this film.
I say check it out! I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

An Underrated Comedy Worth Your Attention

To date, this is the first and one of only two films directed by Tom Hanks. He also wrote the screenplay for this film about the rise and fall of a band called the Wonders. It is a heartwarming film that is heavily underrated.
The special features are nice I guess, but the true gem here is that this release also includes the Director’s Cut of the film that adds a few more layers that was cut out of the theatrical version. With both versions included, though, you can pick and choose whichever you like.
The most important thing, though, is that you go and check out one of the most underrated films out there and show it some love!

One Awesome Package!

I love the Mad Max films and this is the ultimate set if you want all the films! You also get plenty of special features as well, except for “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome”. Still, I also liked that they included the Black and Chrome version of “Mad Max Fury Road”.
There are only two reasons why this set doesn’t get a perfect score. First off, the only film to have a 4K copy is “Fury Road”. The second reason is that “Fury Road” is also the only film to get a digital code. I get why you wouldn’t do 4K releases for all the films because that would have driven the price up, but there should have at least been digital codes for all four films.
Beyond that, though, if you’re a massive Mad Max fan but hadn’t pulled the trigger on getting the films before, then this set is most definitely for you.
