It was great to see this foreign film original released to, and distributed by Netflix, get a physical media release on 4K. I watched it on Netflix and found it to be a powerful film. Would it be worth the upgrade to physical media? While the visuals probably didn't not see a huge jump, you do get high bitrate and an overall pleasing picture. Now, the audio is an upgrade if you have a nice system. If you're using a basic system, or for goodness sakes your TV speakers, then you may not perceive any difference. I still advocate for physical copies, and I am glad that should it disappear from streaming, I have the physical copy.

A spectacular technical achievement in animation. It is a pretty film that deserves to be enjoyed in 4K with HDR. That said, I am still uncertain about how I feel about this film. It has moments. It is around two and a half hours long and you learn that it has been setting up the next film. I knew that going into it, but this film just didn't have a payoff for a single film, in my opinion.
As for the audio, it is also stellar. This will have your system working throughout.

A classic. Dreamworks Animation made an amazing film. It is beautifully animated and well told. Here, we get the 4K presentation with HDR. The HDR does enhance the film to make it more dynamic and it really gives the animation life without going overboard. I often felt 2D animation would not benefit much from 4K HDR until I saw a few and I realized how good the results could be. Now, I am upgrading my favorite animated films and I have no regrets. Yes. The Blu-rays are good, but if you have the 4K TV and an appreciation for the artform, you will enjoy the upgrade.

This was a blind buy. I wanted to see the film, but once I saw this amazing SteelBook packaging, I had to run out and buy it. Oh, I am so glad that I did. The film is intense. The landscape is amazing with incredible colors and highlights thanks to the 4K HDR presentation. And the audio will have you in the middle of the action. It is an enjoyable experience and the SteelBook is one I am happy to have in my collection.

What an amazing SteelBook! I love the creativity of the design on this one with the storefront imagery with the misty slipcover protector. Then the discs have packaged meat from a market on them; a color one for the colored versions and a black and white one for the black and white versions of the film. By the way, if you haven't watched the black and white version, that needs to be added to your watch list. The 4K here is a nice upgrade. Film grain is intact. There is nice detail in the picture. And the audio? A nice upgrade here with the monsters walking or flying right through the room. If you opt for the slipcover package, it is also very nice and the contents are the same but the disc art is not.

Worthy of upgrading to 4K? Yes!!

Having owned this film on a few formats and having it on Blu-ray already in the complete animated series release, I was not sure this upgrade would be much of a step up. Well, let me confirm that it is, both in terms of picture and audio. I understand that Warner Bros. sent out a press release about the restoration efforts that went into this release. They rescanned it and kept the fine film grain that was present and they upgraded the audio to a more immersive loss-ess 5.1 audio track, but do not fret, the original audio is still there if you want it. So, we get a nice upgrade with fine detail in the animation, great color, and a touch of HDR in the highlights without going overboard. And the audio? It hits. From the amazing orchestral score from Shirley Walker to the booming voice of the Phantasm and on to the blasts of guns of resonating bass in the explosions, it has an audio track that I find very enjoyable and elevates this to a theatrical experience like you have never experienced before from this film. Extras are a bit light, but it is a good one. We get a half hour retrospective honoring the work of Kevin Conroy, who passed recently. It's a good piece. The newly commissions art is good, but it would have been nice to have a reversible cover to display on the jewel case, as it is so iconic and I have always liked it, as well. This is one to pick up and add to your collection if you are a fan of this film.

The SteelBook is amazing. I love the images. The SteelBook has a matte finish, which I like. The restoration is good here, but as I have heard others say, not quite to the level of the original Jaws. Audio is 5.1, not Dolby Atmos. Still, a good release for fans.

Mind blown! I have watched all of the BBC nature documentaries, including in 4K, for the past several years. It's incredible seeing how the documentarians top their previous works. The lengths they go through to get the shots amaze me. In this documentary they also use a new camera rig to take time-lapse video of the plants. That might not sound so innovative, but what if I told you that you get time-lapse with moving camera angles? It truly has to be seen. Plus, the plants they feature and how they feature them is simply amazing. I sat on this purchase for a while before watching. I knew it would be good, but I like seeing the animals and wasn't so sure how much I would enjoy the focus on plants. This is absolutely one of my favorites. The 4K and Dolby Atmos audio here are stellar. A reference disc. Buy it! Support this release and others like it. More please!

We actually canceled the installation. We wanted to get the dishwasher installed before Thanksgiving. Best Buy's contractor had hired some new people and were going to be a few weeks out. No fault of theirs. We just needed to get it done a little sooner. We have had good experiences in the past and would still consider them for other installations.

Absolutely worth the upgrade to 4K. I have the previous Blu-ray from Scream Factory and I wasn't sure a 4K upgrade would benefit this film much. Boy, was I wrong. The picture is very pleasing. Film grain is intact but not heavy. The reds and lights of the opening scene pop and create a picture with more depth. Details can be seen in faces, clothing, and the effects. Oh, the effects. Though little of the werewolves is shown, what we get looks amazing and the transformation scene has never been more grotesque. The previous Blu-ray is included and it has loads of very interesting special features that I also thoroughly enjoyed after watching the film. The Howling is a classic. Buy it!

I got the slipcover, but I was in the store. Currently, all issued should have the slip. The wrapping is over the slipcover. At some point they might stop issuing slipcovers, but they are on the early runs out there now. So, even ordering online you should receive one.

I have a Samsung 3D capable th, that I have played 3d bluray discs on. My samsung BD payer doesn't function anymore. Will this play 3d discs faithfully?
