Once only available as part of the Columbia Classics Collection Volume One box set, Lawrence of Arabia arrives in a standalone release on 4K UHD in this beautiful Steelbook. To each their own, as some dislike the design, but I feel it is fitting and beautiful with a metallic paint that sparkles in the light.
The transfer here is every bit as good as the reviews around the Internet had said...it is demo-worthy. It's simply astounding. From the opening scene with Lawrence on the motorcycle the HDR brings life and depth to the picture with colors looking vibrant, yet natural. Film grain is intact, but not too heavy, although, it can be heavier in some scenes and visible in the skies, just as it should be. The detail is amazing and the desert looks incredible. This movie on 4K is a true sight to behold. An epic for the ages.
The audio here is no slouch either. Dolby Atmos enhances the audio without detracting from the work of the original. At least, that's my take on it.
I cannot recommend this release enough...if you can get your hands on it.
Sharlto Copley delivers a riveting central performance as Ted Kaczynski in this unnerving biographical portrait of the technology-loathing academic turned mail-bombing hermit who'd achieve lasting infamy as the Unabomber. Told through sporadic incidents from the decade of Kaczynski's life before his 1996 capture by the FBI, and shot at the site of the Montana cabin where it's subject lived and plotted, it's an experience not to be missed. Drew Powell, Amber Rose Mason, Travis Bruyer also star. 120 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English.

I'm fascinated with the story of Ted, the Unabomber. I have seen some documentaries and other films or series that have portrayed those events. TED K does the job here nicely. It is well-produced, acted, directed, etc. and I would recommend it for anyone interested in the story.

It was great to see these films get the SteelBook treatment with the original poster art. This film isn't a huge upgrade over the Blu-ray in 4K HDR unfortunately, but it does look good here. The packaging is what sold me on this release.
The heat is on again in this funny and thrilling sequel! After Captain Bogomil (Ronny Cox) is wounded by a merciless gang of high-tech robbers, Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) once again travels from Detroit to Beverly Hills to investigate. Once there, he reteams with detectives Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) to solve the case. With Jurgen Prochnow, Brigitte Nielsen, Dean Stockwell. 103 min. Widescreen; Soundtracks English Dolby Digital 5.1, French Dolby Digital 5.1; Subtitles English, French.

It had been years since I had seen this film. The entire franchise is a lot of fun. The story here is decent and provides a reason for Axel to trek from Detroit to Beverly Hills in this sequel to the original Beverly Hills Cop. Directed by the late Tony Scott, brother of Ridley Scott, and it looks great in 4K. The orange horizons have never looked so good. Film grain and detail are intact here with slight touches of HDR, but nothing that is going to show off your new 4K HDR display. Still, it is enjoyable and a great price for a 4K disc. The audio here is still 5.1, so no immersive audio upgrade and extras are slim to none. If you enjoy these films, it is a worthy upgrade for the price.

With insight from a senior professor (Michael Culkin), Lyle believes she knows how to end the spirit's bloody reign. With Tony Todd and Vanessa Williams. 99 min. Having the previous Scream Factory! Blu-ray, I wasn't sure this would be much of an upgrade. Is it? Well, it kind of is, actually. It is a bit pricey, but you get a very good 4K picture with a nice layer of film grain, punchy colors, and good detail in the dark scenes, of which there are many. But the real upgrade here is the audio with the Dolby Atmos. It doesn't always impact the scene, but when it does...wow! Tony Todd's voice as Candyman fills the entire space all around you. There are some other moments, as well. I am glad I purchased this title but if you don't have the audio setup you might hold off for a sale.

When you see some of these older films released on 4K you wonder if it is worth the upgrade over the Blu-ray. This film has seen more than one release on Blu-ray: the more recent studio release with the silver, red and black slipcover, which had a new scan, and an Arrow Video Blu-ray with a newer scan. So, does this 4K HDR upgrade stand up to those? It does. It is an upgrade, but not a drastic one. The HDR here offers a picture with more depth than previous releases. There is still some grain in areas, like in the skies of the opening scenes. But there is good detail here and I liked the uptick in detail, color, and the addition of HDR.
If you own one of the two aforementioned Blu-rays, you may not want to rush out and upgrade to the 4K, as those are very good. But if you want this film in the best quality (and it is one of your favorite horror films), then this is a very nice upgrade. And if you don't want to spend the money for the limited edition, hold out for the upcoming standard release and you'll get the disc with the upgrade, sans the booklet and poster.

An excellent adaptation. The performances are great and I am glad to have this one on 4K. It is a nice upgrade over the Blu-ray. Plus, the packaging here is great. It was a nice touch to have the slipcover feature different art than what is in the case. Way to go on this one, Warner Brothers!

Amazing special effects and a furry sense of humor highlight this Joe Dante scareshow about L.A. TV anchorwoman Karen White (Dee Wallace), who after a terrifying event, goes on vacation at the Colony, a remote California rest resort. Once there, White finds the Colony is home to a host of strange characters, who all seem to be vicious werewolves. John Sayles loosely adapted the Gary Brandner novel; with Christopher Stone, Patrick Macnee, Kevin McCarthy, John Carradine. 91 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English.

Worth the upgrade to 4K!
ByIndyTim
Absolutely worth the upgrade to 4K. I have the previous Blu-ray from Scream Factory and I wasn't sure a 4K upgrade would benefit this film much. Boy, was I wrong. The picture is very pleasing. Film grain is intact but not heavy. The reds and lights of the opening scene pop and create a picture with more depth. Details can be seen in faces, clothing, and the effects. Oh, the effects. Though little of the werewolves is shown, what we get looks amazing and the transformation scene has never been more grotesque. The previous Blu-ray is included and it has loads of very interesting special features that I also thoroughly enjoyed after watching the film. The Howling is a classic. Buy it!

I got the slipcover, but I was in the store. Currently, all issued should have the slip. The wrapping is over the slipcover. At some point they might stop issuing slipcovers, but they are on the early runs out there now. So, even ordering online you should receive one.

Many have stated the the control panel is hard to see because it is not backlit. Has this problem been remedied with the newest model?
I can see the panel just fine, but I turn the light on when using the washer and dryer. That said, there are lights on the unit, but it isn't fully illuminated for use in the dark.

Does this player have an option where you can change the screen size?
I HATE letterbox.
Do any disc players do this? Every TV from the past several years has several built-in 'zoom' functions. So, use those. I see no such options in the player's manual.
