A Miyazaki classic with big improvements

This and other Studio Ghibli animated movies were originally released by Disney some years ago. While those releases were pretty good, these new releases by Shout! Factory/G-Kids are even better.
Both the video and audio have been improved, and there are more extras.
A great movie, as all Miyazaki movies are. This is one of his early features based on the manga he created, and was the start of Studio Ghibli.

Pixar at its best

Beautiful movie. One of Pixar's best. The 4K looks great; added depth, sharpness, and color. Not a huge difference from the blu ray, but still a noticeable improvement. Great amount of extras on the blu ray discs. The Dolby Atmos track is ok, but the DTS is actually a little better as far as depth of sound.

Fun for this Kevin Smith fan

If you're a fan of Kevin Smith's View Askew movies, then this is an easy recommendation; especially so if you liked Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, which I did. Everyone involved looked like they were having fun. You'll appreciate this movie a lot more if you've seen Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and Clerks 2.
Picture and audio quality are great, but keep in mind this movie had a tight budget. Extras are good, but I would have liked more of Kevin and Jay talking about coming back to these characters and looking back at the previous movies in context - That doesn't detract from what is here, though.

Picture quality is better than DVD, but still could have used a clean up. The bigger problem is that most of the special features from the 2 disc DVD release are not included here, which is a shame. If you have the DVD, hold on to it.
For the price, it's still worth the upgrade.

Bought this as an everyday monitor and it works perfectly. Easy set up. A subtle power light that doesn't draw attention, which is a nice touch. The IPS screen has a decently wide viewing angle - a great pairing with a laptop that doesn't have a fantastic monitor.
The stand arm is pretty substantial; feels like it's strong. Do note that the stand base is a matte silver and so is the back of the stand arm. The front of the stand arm is matte black. The edges and back of the monitor itself is a shiny piano black

Fun, different take on super-heroes

Doom Patrol is odd and fun, and very different from the average super-hero stuff (this was true of the original comic in the 60's and especially the revival in the 80's by writer Grant Morrison whose run has been the biggest inspiration behind the TV series).
Video and audio are excellent. Extras could be better, but what's here is welcome.

The original Ghost in the Shell is an anime masterpiece of style, character, and story. While this live remake doesn't quite rise to the original's level of art, it's good. It takes liberties and deviations from the original, and maybe feels the need to explain more than needed, but it's stylish and well-acted, and it's worth seeing.
Picture and sound quality is excellent in 4k.

Great TV with just a somewhat minor issues

We've had this TV for a month and we're very happy with it so far. 4K source material looks gorgeous. HD material looks great.
For regular TV watching, turning the color, contrast, and backlight down a bit helps a lot, especially with material like news as it can look a bit too bright and over-saturated with those settings set too high.
We watch TV with captions on all the time and blooming was not an issue.
The one thing I wish we could turn off is the screen dimming which happens when what's on the screen is low lit. Turning off the Eco setting doesn't help and neither does turning off the Ambient Mode. We read that it's not supposed to dim in Movie mode, which is the mode we keep the TV in, but it still happens. It doesn't come up that often, so it's not a deal breaker, but it would be nice if a future firmware update could fix it.

Great, solidly built 4K player

Great player for the money. Solid construction, very quiet, fast disc loading. Playback looks and sounds great.
The remote is decently laid out. No backlight, but that's a pretty rare feature.
A nice selling point for the UBP-UX80 (as well as the other models in this line) is that it plays a very wide variety of video file formats. If you have files that won't play on a Roku Ultra, for example, this player will likely be able to play it.
