Languishing in the lockup of the garish Samurai Town, career criminal Hero (Nicolas Cage) has a shot at a pardon from The Governor (Bill Mosely) if he can invade neighboring, nuked-out Ghostland and rescue precious, abducted S*x worker Bernice (Sofia Boutella). To make sure he stays on mission, our protagonist is fitted out with an explosives-laden suit that'll blow if he deviates. Expectedly out-there English language bow for director Sion Sono co-stars Nick Cassavetes, Tak Sakaguchi. 100 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English. Two-disc set.

Underwhelming, but more than strange enough to stay interesting, with a mixture of vibes from the likes of Six String Samurai, Sukiyaki Western Django, and The Good, The Bad, The Weird. Cage isn't trying quite as hard as he was in Mandy or Color Out of Space, but somebody had to play the straight man to all the weirdness, and he does bring back some of that old Face/Off energy at one point. Not action-heavy as one might hope, but a nicely nutso final battle is a welcome payoff.

Okay, so imagine the Double Dragon and Last Airbender movies mashed together… but both of them were… like… GOOD, and thus the resulting mashup was pretty friggin' great. While SHANG-CHI still falls back on franchise standards of muddy cinematography (the final battle in particular becomes a bit of an eyesore) and a few lame jokes that defuse what could have been heavy moments, this honestly feels like a new dawn for the MCU. The people behind it are clearly fans of John Woo, Jackie Chan, and Zhang Yimou, and the spectacular fight sequences show off that love throughout. The jokes, meanwhile, thanks largely to Simu Liu and Awkwafina's chemistry, are, surprise surprise LEGIT FUNNY. Take it from a tired and cynical MCU viewer: If Shang-Chi is a taste of the films' future, then god help me, I'm a believer again, and there's plenty still to look forward to.

Mix Casino Royale's harsh emotional beats with Quantum of Solace's themes of trust issues and forgiveness, Skyfall's overwhelming villain creep factor and playful embrace of classic Bond-isms, and Spectre's massive scale, and you get something resembling NO TIME TO DIE. I've never been as hard on Craig's previous adventure as some have, but I'm glad he decided he had one more go in him, because this is the swan song his 007 deserved.

Between the all-star cast, massive scale production, stunning cinematography, and haunting, otherworldly score, DUNE has never looked or sounded better. Story-wise, it hits most of the book’s major and minor beats, and while it could have fleshed out a couple things a bit more, this is hands down the most complete and least cornball adaptation yet - or will be when Part Two comes out.

Apart from the usual tired MCU-isms here and there, it's very different in look and mood from most of its neighbors, unafraid of being quiet and somber between the bombast and asking some questions with uncomfortable answers. The Man of Steel influence is all over it visually and thematically, questioning the simple definitions of good and evil and spotlighting the consequences of both interference and inaction. What direction these particular characters take and where they'll eventually tie in with other emerging heroes remains to be seen, but going forward the MCU will definitely benefit from trusting more minds like Chloe Zhao.

Margot’s Harley was easily the best part of the studio-meddled Suicide Squad, and she shines brighter than ever in her deserved spotlight. The action hits hard, the soundtrack pounds, and the heroes get just as insane as the villains. It’s glorious and I giggled aplenty.

Beautiful and scary in all the ways familiar to those who grew up with 80s fantasy films like The Dark Crystal and The Secret of NIMH, and an enthralling Alice in Wonderland coming-of-age story with a unique anime twist one could only credit to Hayao Miyazaki.

A massive monster mash in the vein of Ridley Scott's Alien; a mix of slow-burn tension, charismatic actors (though lacking in particularly memorable characters), a triumphant score, and giant spectacle wherein the title character takes his sweet time taking the spotlight, but when he does, EVERY shot is a money shot.

The signature film of Hitchcock, in my opinion, is looking fantastic in 4K and offering a few snippets of extra footage thankfully preserved since its original theatrical release.

I have an older LG OLED television that has permanently burnt-in [ad] icon on the screen due to Hulu's yellow disclaimer. I want to ensure that this model isn't subject to the same problem as the older TV.
It's my understanding the risk of burn-in is still present, but running Pixel Refresh on a regular basis can help prevent it (google for a recommended schedule based on your usage).
Vinyl audio has authenticity that digital can~t compete with, but you can~t argue with the convenience of modern wireless speakers either. Music holds a lot of memories, and it can also create new ones. Make them count with this Insignia Bluetooth turntable.
Can I pair this with my favorite blue tooth speaker?
Yes. Just place the speaker in pairing mode, then hold down the Bluetooth button on the turntable until it starts flashing blue and red. It should be paired when it turns solid blue, and you should hear something from the speaker.
