Can you plug the GoPro Max 360 in a charger and record while it's plugged into the charger and if so, how long could the camera record while plugged into the charger, depending on the settings and SD card size used?

The MAX will record while using external power. Assuming it is getting power, the only limitation in recording time would the size of the SD card. What is the highest SD card size you can use in the GoPro Max 360? Also, how long can you record continually depending on the settings and SD card size?

There are some SD cards that up to 256GB that we recommend for the MAX. The list of recommended cards is at https://gopro.com/help/articles/block/microSD-Card-Considerations. Recording time varies on the bitrate, frame rate and the resolution you choose, along with whether you're shooting in HERO mode (just using one lens) or in 360 mode. Can this be used in an auto as a dash cam? I'm wanting video for crash evidence etc and this would work out to do the things I want to do with people sideswiping etc while on cell phones.

It could be used for that, but for a dash cam, you'll probably want a camera that offers a looping feature so that the video that's recorded overwrites itself at regular intervals so your memory doesn't fill up too quickly. One of our new HERO cameras like the HERO8 Black or the HERO7 Black may be a better option.

Does this record anything less then 4K? 1080p? I just don’t have the ability to view the 4K so I want to step it down to 1080p

With the HERO7 Silver, you have the option to shoot in 4K, 1440p, or 1080p.

Can older GoPro Hero 4 batteries be used in Max360? Or is it best to purchase the new ones?

The MAX uses an entirely different battery type than any of our HERO cameras. You'll want to buy batteries specifically designed for the MAX to use in that camera.

Yes, you capture individual frames from a video to keep as a photo. Perhaps the easiest way to do this is to pair your GoPro up to your smartphone using the GoPro app. Then, once your content is shared over to your phone, it's just a few clicks to choose and then save the image you want. You can also do this with content you've downloaded onto your computer and imported into our Quik for Desktop app.

Can recordings be viewed and played back on camera it's self?

Yes, the HERO7 Silver has a rear display that can be used to view photos and videos shot by the camera.
