Is the 3D viewing only with 3D movies?
I am not up to date on the latest tech - I still have my old console RCA that is 25+ yrs old and it works like a charm! But I foresee not for much longer?? So I have been looking online only at some of the newest TV's around. I like the idea of having a Smart TV, we watch a lot of Netflix and now we need the Wii hooked up in order to do that. It would be nice to have internet available on the TV. But I am confused about the 3D part. Does it turn everything 3D? How does that work? Is it an option that is chosen only for 3D movies? It seems like a nice option to have but considering how often 3D is actually viewed, I am not sure if its worth it. Pricewise. Any input would be appreciated.
Jmj,
No worries - we're here to help answer questions and explain the new technology, so feel free to interact and ask as many questions as you want.
The 3-D televisions CAN upconvert all signals to 3-D, but you can watch 2-D television just like you normally do.
If you want to use the 3-D feature, you'll need 3-D content like a Blu-Ray disc, and then you connect your glasses to watch 3-D movies. Otherwise, without the glasses or the 3-D feature, it's just like every "2-D" television on the market.
3-D requires a faster panel, so that's something you'll benefit from when watching 2-D content, too. Most people will probably view a majority of 2-D content, even on their 3D televisions.
