If I don’t want to purchase Office 365 but instead want to purchase MS Word separately, can that be done? If so, would the Word software install locally on the hardrive?

There is a 30-day trial of Microsoft Office 365 included as part of the Windows 10 operating system. In order to keep the program active after the trial period, you will need to purchase a product key. You will not need to download any additional software. We recommend you contact Microsoft about purchasing just Word and what the cost would be.

Could you simplify the explanation a little more please - about the reasons why I would prefer the 64-bit OS instead of the standard Windows 10 S-Mode? I’m not understanding that at all. Also, if I want the 64-bit OS, how and when do I do that selection?

Windows 10 S-Mode provides added security by only allowing APPs available ( and therefore certified by Microsoft) at the Microsoft Store. So if you use 3rd party software that is not available at the Microsoft Store, you will want to switch out of S-Mode to be able to use your software. If you don't need the added security or you need to install APPs not available at the Microsoft Store, you can switch to standard Windows 10 Home 64-bit Operating System, at no additional cost. One, but not all of the pics, shows a nifty storage slot for the pen. It is in a different place from the one in my Thinkpad x1 Yoga, but still a feature that I consider essential. It was not available on the 920. Can anyone confirm the 930 has slot?

Can you use a USB external DVD/CD drive?

The short answer is yes, you can use an external USB CD/DVD drive with a Chromebook. There are some major limitations to using a Chromebook external DVD or CD drive. External devices are limited as to storage of readable files, and music and movie files are not, without drivers, which cannot be installed on a Chromebook.
