I have been using the Lenovo Yoga 920 for about 4 months now and notice that the pen sometimes is not recognized on the screen or it will loose contact/skip around. I am not holding it to close to the tip either, what is the problem? Is this normal?

Make sure the screen is clean. Be sure the battery is new. If you have been using the same battery in the pen for 4 months and you use the pen heavily, try changing the battery in the pen.

There is a fan within this system. It will keep the system at proper operating temperatures. You will be able to hear the fan when it runs. This is normal.

Is the case a sturdy plastic or aluminum..... or is it flimsy. example the screen "twists and flexes" when opening and closing? Guess the easiest way to say this.... Is the screen the only thing preventing it from snapping in half.

This model is constructed of polycarbonate ABS plastic. This system including the screen and the hinges connecting the screen to the computer body is durable under normal use.
