What is the battery life on this? I see reviews saying it is low--maybe 6 or less. Someone here said 7. What's your experience been, with typical office tasks and surfing?

You should expect approximately 4 to 6 hours of battery life. This is due to the Core I-5 processor and the discrete graphics card on this model.

There should be no gray tint to the screen. There may have been a video driver update that was necessary to correct the issue.

You can scale down the screen resolution on the Yoga 900-13. Just right click on the Windows 10 desktop, select "Display Settings" and you can adjust the screen resolution there. Try out the 4K setting first. Microsoft Office 2010 may be OK at that resolution.
