How do I open the DVD to install something when pressing the V-underlined doesn't open it?

That is the correct button. Be sure the system is turned on, the door won't open if the system is not powered up. If the system is powered on and the door still doesn't open when you push the open button, there is a small pin hole above the open button. With a pin, push this unlock button to manually open the door. Again, the system must be powered up.

This is an entry level system. From what you describe as the work you will be doing, yes, this system should work well for you.

I'm planning on using this laptop to complete online hm work & use Microsoft Word/ listen to pandora. The associate at Best Buy said i shouldn't download my Norton antivirus on this laptop because it will take up too much space and cause it to run slow .

We recommend you check with Norton for their recommended amount for free storage space you will need for their software before you install it. This system has approximately 18GB of free disk space before the install of any software. If you have loaded other programs on this device, you may have less available.

Laptop is not turning off fully. When I hit "shut down" everything closes and the screen goes black - but the power button light remains on. Battery dies because of this. I have to hold the power button down to turn off, which is not recommended. Help?

The power button will stay on if the system is still plugged in after you turn it off. If the power button stays on after shutdown and the system is not plugged in, try updating your system's drivers, including BIOS and power management drivers. It is not preinstalled. The Windows 10 operating system uses Bing Search. But you can certainly download Google to this system.
