Hi - No, only the telephone base of the VTech CS6949 requires connection to an electrical outlet and a telephone jack to function. The small charger for the cordless handset connects only to the electrical outlet. Thank you! - VTech Support

My old phone rings and then there is a loud static noise on it. How do I know if it is the old phone or the jack that isn't working?
Countrygirl - We are sorry to hear that you are having an issue with the VTech CS5119. Make sure that you are using the AC adapter that came with the unit and it should be away from other electronic devices that may cause interference. You can also try moving the handset closer to the base. The operating range may vary with environmental conditions and time of use. There may be places within your environment that a cordless phone will not work well. If this is not the case, like many electronic devices, a system reboot may resolve the issue. You can try rebooting your phone system by disconnecting the power from the telephone base then unplug the battery on the cordless handset for a minute. Reconnect and test. If the issue still persists, you may try another phone on the same jack, if another phone does the same thing, we can conclude that its a line problem and you need to contact you telephone service provider. The camera transmits 1080p high-definition video, so you can clearly see your little one on the viewer, your smartphone or tablet. You'll feel like you've never left the room.
So my monitor consistently has its signal cut out and I have removed all wifi devices that are close to the actual camera. Does the monitor need space as well from wifi capable devices so that it doesn't loos signal?

Please make sure that the camera is within Wi-Fi range and that your internet connection is working. Make sure that the camera is powered on, and the LED lights are on. Your router or camera may require a reboot. Unplug your router and camera for approximately 30 seconds and plug back in. Allow a moment for the devices to reconnect and try again. Hi - Yes, you can changed the number of rings before the built-in answering system of the VTech IS8151-4 picks up. Here's the procedure on how to change the number of rings.
Using a cordless handset:
When the handset is not in use, press MENU to enter the main menu.
1. Press ▼CID to scroll to Answering sys, then press SELECT.
2. Press ▼CID to scroll to Ans sys setup, then press SELECT.
3. Press ▼CID to scroll to # of rings, then press SELECT.
4. Press ▼CID or ▲ to choose among 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or Toll saver.
5. Press SELECT to save the setting. You will hear a confirmation tone.
If you are referring to a voicemail service from you telephone provider, please contact you provider on how to change the number of rings on your voicemail service through them. Thank you! - VTech Support
