why does the phone have no dial tone, checked all connections, was able to set time and date, but the screen says NO LINE, what does that mean?

We recommend that you try replacing the telephone line cord (if you have a spare one) and check if the service is restored. If not, like many electronic devices, a system reboot may resolve the issue. You can try rebooting your phone system by disconnecting the power from the telephone base then unplugging the batteries on the cordless handsets for a minute. Reconnect and test. why can you not add extra phone to this base because the base does not have a way to register another phone.

CJ - The compatible accessory cordless handset of the VTech CS6949 is the model CS6909. The telephone base supports a maximum of 5 handsets. Here's the procedure on how to register an accessory cordless handset. Please make sure the phone is not in use during the registration process.

Step 1. On the telephone base, press and hold FIND HANDSET for about 4 seconds until the IN USE light turns on, display shows Registering......

Step 2. On the cordless handset, press QUIET#. Display shows Registered and you will hear a confirmation tone.

My senior dad needs a phone with the option of programming numbers so he just presses one number to call family. He has eye sight issues. And hearing issues

Tammy - The VTech CS6949 does not have a speed dial feature. You may check the SN5147 that has eight photo speed dial on the telephone base and four direct memory keys (M1 to M4) on the cordless handset. Thank you! - VTech Support

Yes, the vibration mode can be set On or OFF with following steps:

2. Press Up or Down arrow key to choose VIBE ALERT, then press SELECT.
3. Press Up or Down arrow key to choose ON or OFF.
4. Press SELECT to confirm your selection. The screen displays SAVED and you hear a
confirmation tone.

Is there a way to mute an incoming message?

Mel - Yes, you can turn off the call screening feature of the VTech CS6949 if you do not want the incoming messages heard while they are being recorded. Here's the procedure on how to turn off the Call Screening feature.

1. Press MENU when the phone is not in use.
2. Press ▼ to scroll to Answering sys, and then press SELECT.
3. Press ▼ to scroll to Ans sys setup, and then press SELECT.
4. Press SELECT to choose Call screening.
5. Press ▼ or ▲ to choose Off.
6. Press SELECT to save. You will hear a confirmation tone.

This VTech CM18445 corded phone is compatible with anywhere from 1 to 4 telephone lines and connects wirelessly with up to 10 handsets. The digital answering system records up to 180 minutes of messages, announcements and memos.
 

I have two Vtech portable phones that were plugged into a land line. I just eliminated the land line and need what (?) so one of the phones works without being plugged into the land connection since it is gone now.

Carolyn - The VTech CM18445 requires connection to an electrical outlet and telephone jack/modem to function. We cannot connect a CM18445 to another console of the same model. However, you can get a cordless handset (VTech model CM18045/AM18047) or a cordless desksets (VTech model CM18245/AM18247) to expand your system. The main console is expandable up to nine devices. The cordless expansion units wirelessly connect to the main console and do not require connection to a telephone jack. Thank you! - VTech Support

We are in need of 7 phones but am not sure the "desksets or mobile" phone will connect from office out into a warehouse. Walls are not cinderblock but typical walls in between. Will one main console and 7 desksets with 1 or 2 handheld phones work .

Hi - The operating range of the VTech CM18445 varies and is dependent on the environmental conditions, the time of use and other interference such as walls, doors, and other obstructions. We recommend that you place the telephone base in an open location for optimum range and better reception. You can expand the system by adding a combination of up to nine cordless handsets (VTech model CM18045/AM18047), cordless desksets (VTech model CM18245/AM18247), cordless headsets (VTech model IS6100) and cordless speakerphones (AT&T model TL80133). I got the VTech ds6251-2 with two phones for my office. For some reason only line 1 works and when I try to get line 2 working it says “device not registered”. Line 2’s light also isn’t lighting up blue on the base. Can someone help me register line 2?

The type of telephone cord to use depends on the type of jack you have. If you have one jack that carries both lines, please make sure to use the cord that has 4 pins or the RJ14. If you have two single line jacks, you need two telephone cords connected at the back of the telephone base. If this does not help, like many electronic devices, a system reboot may resolve the issue. You can try rebooting your phone system by disconnecting the power from the telephone base then unplugging the batteries on the cordless handsets for a minute. Reconnect and test. why will the phone not record tje message, only the greeting?

The ANS ON/OFF button should have a steady red light on the base. Make sure that the memory is not full. If this does not help, like many electronic devices, a reset may resolve the issue. Hi - If you are subscribed to Voicemail service from your telephone company and the handset screen displays "New Voicemail". To remove the message from the screen, you can simply review the message left on your mailbox. If you are referring to cancelling the service, you may contact you telephone service provider to get assistance on how to remove it. If you are referring to the built-in Answering system of the VTech CS5129-26, you can turn it off by pressing ANS ON/OFF on the telephone base. Thank you! - VTech Support
