when the phone rings can 2 people accidentally answer the same line at the same time or will it roll the second pick up to line 2? Is there a hold button on cordless phones??

Molly - The call will go to the first unit of the VTech CM18445 that will pick up and the second unit that will try to answer the same call will get the dial tone for the next available line in the system. The VTech CM18445 has a call privacy feature, that is set to ON by default, which will not allow 2 person to answer an incoming call. Any system extension of the VTech CM18445 can join a call in progress by pressing the line key which is currently in use to set up a conference. To place a call on hold on the cordless handset, you need to press the Hold Softkey when the handset extension is in use.

“Hello - We have the 4-line business system and I cannot seem to be able to put a call on hold via the handheld device. I have checked the manual and it doesn't appear to be in it. Is there a simple fix for this user error that you can assist me with?”

Hi- We are sorry that you are having issues with the CM18445's hold feature. Here's how you can place the call on hold. Here's the step on how you can place the call on hold on the cordless handset. While on a call, the handset display shows the word HOLD on the screen. Press the corresponding softkey button below and it will place the call on hold on the handheld device. I have the phone plugged into the auxiliary port on my fax but when someone faxes me something, the answering machine answers will not let the fax come through is there a way to shut down the answering machine

John - The VTech DS6771-3 is not capable of detecting if a call coming in is a fax or a voice call. You must set your fax machine to answer on fax calls only and its number of rings must be set lower than the answering machine. You can contact the fax manufacturer to get assistance in setting the fax machine to fax calls only.

Can recorded messages be accessed directly from the Caller ID log, or do you have to listen to messages in the order they were received?

Paul - The messages left on the VTech DS6151 cannot be accessed from the Caller ID log. You need to press the Mailbox 1 or Mailbox 2 to listen to messages. If you have new messages, the telephone plays only the new messages (oldest first). If there are no new messages, the telephone plays back all messages (oldest first). During playback, you can press the SKIP button to go to the next message.
