It's hard to say for sure without knowing exactly what printer you have, but any digital camera should produce high quality image files that should be able to print fine on a HP photo printer. If your in the market for a camera that should take great images, and is built to last I would look at get a DSLR. A DSLR will not fit in your pocket, but should take superior images in comparison to any point and shoot cameras. You need to go to the shooting menu and choose the black&white option. Directions on how to do this are on page 93 of your camera manual. I would suggest that digital images should always be shot in color, and converted to black&white (using editing software) as needed. This camera does have a nice feature that allows the user to record an image in color and black&white simultaneously.
