What is Blu-ray?

Put simply Blu-ray is the current high definition disc format. A Blu-ray player accepts Blu-ray discs, and outputs its signal in 1080p resolution. 1080p resolution is the highest high definition resolution currently available, but keep in mind that to enjoy the 1080p resolution the Blu-ray player would need to be connected to a TV that can display in 1080p resolution. If the laptop is a product that we sold in our stores there might be some sitll available for purchase in a Best Buy® store. The only way to really find our is to call a Best Buy® store you would want to purchase the laptop at. Make sure you know the exact model number. If the laptop is no longer for sale on BestBuy.com you would not be able to purchase it there. I hope this helps out!

Both the Rock Band Special Edition for Nintendo Wii, and Rock Band 2 Special Edition for Nintendo Wii come with the game included. The Rock Band Special Edition for Nintendo Wii is currently sold out on BestBuy.com, but you might be able to find it in a Best Buy® store. I want to get a bigger hard drive(a 60gb or 120gb). Can you still purchase the packages that will transfer the contents of your old hard drive to the new one?

Is there a blu-ray disc burner available to copy VHS/DVD home movies to a blu-ray disc?

We do sell Blu-ray burner drives for computers, but you would first need to convert your VHS tapes to a digital format and then upload those files to the computer with the Blu-ray burner drive. Burning a standard definition (420p) signal like a VHS tape, or a DVD to a Blu-ray disc will not change the resolution of the movies. Most Blu-ray players accept DVD's, and I would purchase a VHS to DVD recorder, which we do sell here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.... I hope this helps!

You do not need a Blu-ray player to enjoy your new TV, but if you want to play Blu-ray discs you would need a Blu-ray player. Blu-ray has nothing to do with gaming, other than the Sony PS3 gaming system which plays both PS3 video games and Blu-ray discs. If you want to enjoy the highest resolution your TV is capable of you would need a Blu-ray player, and this is because right now only a Blu-ray disc outputs in a 1080p signal. High Definition (HD) Cable, HD Satellite TV, and HD Broadcast TV are either broadcast in 720p or 1080i resolution. If you decide you want to purchase a Blu-ray player you could just go to a Best Buy® store, or you could purchase one here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.... I hope this helps out!

what is the difference between upconversion and output?

On a Blu-ray player a Blu-ray disc should output a 1080p high definition signal to your TV, but many Blu-ray players are also upconvert players. An upconvert player is designed to play normal DVD's and upconvert the signal to near high definition resolution.
