Does a 60 Hz set provide good picture quality?

Since most content is transmitted on a 60Hz signal or lower (currently there are no signals higher then 60Hz), the LN40B530 will have superb picture quality while handling both SD and HD content.

will this tv work with dish or do I need something to make it work?

Due to the nature of the cross compatible connectors (HDMI, Composite, Component), almost all devices will work with the Samsung TVs, regardless of manufacturer. There are no special converters or cables (besides the ones needed to connect between the devices) required.

what is a lcd monitor?

Good question. An LCD monitor is a unit that does not offer a tuner and is usually used as a PC monitor (depending on the connections on the unit).

Your measurements are on diagonal; What is actual exterior linear width & height of TV housing, not including stand or diagonal measurement of screen?

The dimensions of the LN40B530 with out the stand are: 39.3 x 3.1 x 24.4 (WxDxH).

What is the native contrast ratio?

What is the native contrast ratio of this TV? Not the dynamic contract, but the native contrast?

The Dynamic Contrast Ratio is the contrast ratio of the TV with all the contrast enhancing features active and working properly. Some of these features include the special Panel material and the unique Picture engine plus an active back light unit. Because these features are always active, the unit will always be higher then the native contrast ratio.

does this model have 24p?

The LN40B530 will be able to not only accept but also display a 24p signal. As long as the connection is made by HDMI, there should be no setting up required.

is the picture really clear and not blury at all?

can u see all picture s on tv for instance really clear and is the color bright and stuff.

Thanks to several features that enhance the color and picture quality (including the Clear Panel, Wide Color enhancer, and active back light unit) all sources will be clear and look HD on this unit.

Does this set work with a Direct TV remote?

We use Direct TV and want to be sure it will be compatible with the Direct TV remote. We do not want to keep up with 2 remotes to opperate on TV

I, unfortunatly, do not have any information of whether or not directv's remotes will work with our TV, but if there are codes for the unit, contacting Directv's Customer Service line will probably be your best course of action.

Does it play HD-DVD from a sony HD-Camcorder like a Sony Play Station 3

Since HD-DVD is a different format then Blu-Ray, I do not think that this player will be able to play them.
