Box for HD cable?
You say this has a digital tuner. However, the specifications say:
"Add HD-capable antenna to receive over-the-air high-definition broadcasts, where available. Optional set-top box required for high-definition cable or satellite programming."
I can plug my cable line directly into my current (ancient) CRT tv and get many (not all) stations. I assume the Samsung does the same, but are you saying these will NOT be HD?
There is a difference between HD and digital. Since the digital transition, all TV signals are now sent digitally. All the current Samsung TVs feature a tuner that can decode the digital signal with out an external box. In order to get HD, most cable companies actually transmit some HD channels over coax, with out the need of a cable box. This means that all Samsung TVs will also be able to display these over the air HD channels with out a problem. To get the premium HD channels, you will need to use a cable box from your cable provider. This is not a limitation of the TV, but just how the different cable providers code their signals.
