Do I need a digital camera to upload photos to my computer?

I need a way to upload(download) photos to my computer and various chat rooms.Do I need a digital camera and if so what other software do I need/Can I download photos from my cell phone and if so how?
Downloading photos from your cellphone to your computer is usually done by a USB cable specific to that phone or a paid service by your phone provider. Check with your cellphone company, they will have more information about that.
Getting a digital camera will give you better photos than the cellphone will. Most digital cameras come with some kind of software and cable connection to transfer the photos from camera to computer. For more control over the photos once they are on your computer look into Photoshop Elements found here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...

I need a digital camera without video capability

I want to buy a digital camera without video capability. I go to a lot of concerts that won't allow video. Any suggestions?
Generally ALL compacts have video mode now.
Very few D-SLR cameras have video mode. The photos will be noticeably better on a D-SLR and the price of an entry level D-SLR...like the Nikon D40.... is not much more than a higher end compact,

What cameras are wifi compatible?

There are very few cameras that are WiFi enabled. It was a feature that hasn't caught on yet.
However you can make almost any camera WiFi with the Eye-Fi. To find out more about this SD 2gb memory card that is also a wireless connection look here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...
and the 4gb version here:

What equipment is best?

I am interested in taking professional pictures to start a side business. I wanted to know what would be the best digital camera, with panaramic addiction included. Also, what would be the best printer. I hope to mainly take on parties. I would also like to print out the picture for the customer right there.
If you are planning to take just portrait photos at the start you have many options. Doing event photography such as sports or performance (bands, dances...ect.) you would need a camera with a fast burst mode (continuous shooting). That is what some of the cost of the more expensive cameras is for.
Some good cameras to look at as portrait cameras are:
Sony a300
Canon Xs
Nikon D60

As for the printer...if you are going to print just 4x6 prints (which I would suggest) look at the Epson
Picture Mate found here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...
It has a built in card reader and screen so you don't have to use your camera as a pictbridge.
Printing a 4x6 on the spot is great and if your customers want bigger prints they can order them and you can print them out at home later. People at parties don't usually plan on carrying a 8x10 photo around with them.

Which is the best format for making a travel video?

I will be traveling in Europe and we want to make a travel video which we will later use Adobe Premiere to edit on our computer. Which format of camcorder would be best/easiest to use?
I also edit with Premiere (Pro 2.0) and I still find for worry free...no problems editing...I go with Mini DV and use Firewire to input/capture to the computer.
I like the size of the Flash based camcorders and the LONG record times of the memory. But editing the format, especially the AVCHD format in Premiere was tricky. There are conversion programs for the AVI files that might help with that but I still like the Mini DV for ease of use.

whats the difference between xs and xsi

i know the screen size, frames per second and meg are different but what else? why would i buy the xsi for $150 more then the xs?
There are a few other things. The Auto Focus goes to 9 points vs 7 points on the sx. This will give you more focus accuracy. The metering system adds Spot Metering, which will only take a reading where the “Spot” is on helping you control contrast.
I will eventually come down to what you feel you need in the camera. The increased MP is helpful in cropping out unwanted subjects and still having a high MP count left behind. The faster frame rate helps in sports and action shooting.
Hope this helps.

Which is better battery operated or rechargeable camara?

They both have good elements. Battery are a constant layout of money, but can be found anywhere.
Rechargeables are expensive, but it is a one time cost that more than makes up for itself in the long run, but you have to have a place to recharge them..
As for battery run time...that depends on the type rechargeable. If it is a AA rechargeable, some cameras run faster...but work less time between charges. If it is a OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer ) battery, the run time is MUCH longer...up to 10x longer.

What do you use in a digital camera instead of film?

Digital Cameras use a Memory Media instead of film. The ISO settings on the camera are the same as the ISO speeds of film. The benefits of digital over film are:
Instantly see your shots.
Not have to wait until a roll of film is empty to change film speeds. You can change up or down any time with digital.
Not have to learn new settings. The ISO speeds are the same.
MUCH more shots. Your are only limited by the size of the memory. It is not unusual to get over 1000 photos on a 4gd stick.
