Having owned each of the previous Kindle readers, this one is without a doubt the best of the bunch. I highly recommend that the serious reader consider this device. Do note that this is a Reader, not a tablet. Grab an iPad or Kindle Fire for your tablet needs but get this to read books. The high dot-per-inch count makes it easy on the eyes, as does the evenly-distributed light. Superb device!

Nice PC in a Pinch

Out and about this PC tablet does a great job. With adequate onboard memory and a slot for a microSD card it proves to be a useful device. The price is amazing considering the power that you get in such a small package. This is just what you need to stay connected when away from your main PC. At this price I'm tempted to grab a second unit.

A Bit Lacking

I have purchased many Franklin devices over the past years and have always been delighted with the quality and amazing wealth of information provided. In this case, I had watched this translator for quite a while and when I found it on sale I grabbed it. Honestly, I must confess that it is a bit difficult to navigate and despite the numerous volumes contained in the device's memory, it is not particularly easy to use it as a translator or dictionary. It seems that the volumes need to be brought together into one database that can be accessed through one simple search. For the sale price, it may be worth the trouble.

Fantastic Gaming Unit

The Vita is perhaps the best-kept secret in the gaming world. The unit is quite amazing with its powerful processing speed and brilliant display. The battery life and quick recharge capability also adds to the quality of the device. Getting this package, with the game and memory card included for $199 is indeed the best offer I have seen on the Vita. I have been delighted with my Vita, and find it a great companion when on the go. It goes far beyond the competitors in this class.

With 198 pages (100 sheets), this Livescribe 1 ANA-00045 replacement journal allows you to write plenty of notes with your Livescribe 3 smartpen. The on-page and inside-cover controls offer quick and simple access to functions.

This is the bound journal containing the special LiveScribe paper - excellent for use with the new LiveScribe Smartpen 3. It is well constructed and serves as a rugged leather-bound notebook of top-notch quality. While it is designed for the LiveScribe pen, it would actually serve as a wonderful journal for any pen due to it's high quality cover and binding. I am always impressed with the LiveScribe products.

Having owned every single version of the LiveScribe pen, I do feel somewhat qualified to evaluate this most recent iteration. Let me preface my comments by saying that after having owned all of the LiveScribe3's predecessors, and having been delighted with each, I was not in a hurry to upgrade to this new model. In fact, after reading about it, I was even less enthusiastic about taking the plunge. Then, I finally decided to give the LiveScribe 3 a go and let me say, I am amazed! The pen does far more than the literature seems to indicate, making you feel that you are tied to your pen, notebook, and iPad. The fact is that you do not have to have your iPad anywhere near to use the pen. Write all you like in the notebook and when you get near your iPad and activate the LiveScribe app, it will automatically upload all of your data from the pen to the iPad. Seeing the pages magically appear with crisp image of your written notes is somewhat of a rush in itself. The image quality is the best yet and the simplicity of moving the pages from your LiveScribe notebook to the iPad is completely without effort. Reading the literature regarding the LiveScribe 3 gave me the distinct impression that I would have to keep my iPad near and have a paid subscription to Evernote to find it useful. That is so far from the truth. You do not need an Evernote account at all, but will need a modern iPad. In short, write your notes with a pen in your LiveScribe notebook and they will almost magically appear on your iPad, allowing you to review and manipulate them there. The device allows for audio recording as you take notes and syncs the audio with the written notes. I could go on and on, but simply put, this device is amazing! I would recomend you go with the Pro version to get the leather (or leather-like) portfolio which holds a journal-sized notebook and has a band for the pen as well. Very slick, professional package. LiveScribe, you've done it again - even better than ever.

No-Compromise PC

Having used the original Surface Pro, in this model it has finally come to maturity. While I would still prefer the 512gb i7, at some point price does become and issue and this seems the best compromise of the full line of Surface Pro 3s. With 8gb of onboard ram and 256gb of storage - before you even add the SD card, it is impressive for a portable PC tablet. While the increased screen size does add to the overall size of the machine, when you start digging into serious programs, it is a better choice than the earlier models. The extended battery life was a while in coming, but it was worth the wait. Grab the keyboard and the Bluetooth mouse and you have everything from a highly-portable tablet to a powerful full-blown PC computer. It is truly a replacement for your desktop machine, and not only more versatile but more powerful than most. If you have the spare change, give it a go. You're going to be glad you did.

Amazing Quality Especially using Earbuds

Exceptional quality both recording and on playback. Since it has a music folder, you can easily drag your MP3s to the folder and have your music library with you too. It has all of the bells and whistles I could desire - AAA battery and/or AAA rechargeable. SD Micro slot for adding to the already 4GB on-board memory. Variable playback speed and pitch. USB connection for easy transfer of files - which can be created as mp3, wma, or PCM (Note that the wma is only mono with a low bit rate strictly for voice, while mp3 is 128 or 256kbps). It is a fine device, as one would expect from a product bearing the Olympus name.

The iPad Mini Case I Was Waiting For!

I have looked for some time for an iPad case for my iPad Mini that included a keyboard. The ones I saw were either two thick and bulky or did not provide any protection for the back side of the iPad Mini. Then I saw this today and made a quick impulse purchase - not actually an impulse since I had been looking, but an impulse in the sense that it took me about 5 seconds to decide. The keyboard is exceptional, with the feel of a quality keyboard. The case completely encloses the iPad and remains quite thin and light weight. I went with the black but almost wish I had been daring and gone with one of the color options. I am delighted and am using it now to type this review. Best case-keyboard combination that I have seen for the Mini - hands down!

Having owned a number of tablets from iPads to Samsung's to Nook to Kindle, I give this little unit two thumbs up. If you can live with 8GB of internal memory, then this model will not disappoint. The first thing you will notice is the amazing screen clarity. It is fantastic, whether watching a movie, playing a game, reading a book, or whatever you wish. Read the ad for details and specs, but hold it in your hands and look at it for the real sales pitch. Excellent device.

I imagine that a Microsoft store could help you with that but a simpler solution may be to pick up a book for beginners explaining the Surface Pro. There are some wonderful ones out there for those just getting started. Good success with your new computer. I have that model also and have very much enjoyed it.

What to buy
What would you suggest buying a samsunf 2014 or a surface. My husbaand is on the computer alot watchin videos and amoazon along with a few others
I would compare the battery life of the two units you are considering. Since he likes to watch a lot of videos, the one with longer battery life may be the one for him. All the best!

Can the nook get used by a 6 year old for reading and learning purposes?
Books appropriate for all ages are available through B&N. If you want color and sound, as many children's books may offer, you should consider a color Nook, such as the Nook HD or HD+. Get a good protective case in case the child drops the device.

Yes. You will have to get the ebook in a format that Nook can read. Loading books into the Nook that are not from B&N is not a complicated task. Do a Google search and you will find many sites that explain the process, step by step.

Do all Barnes & Nobles Ebooks work on the simple touch?
Barnes & Nobles has thousands and thousands of ebooks and I would doubt that every single one will work. For example, the device would not be suitable for books where color is necessary or important to enjoy the book. Novels, history books, etc. will work just fine. I personally have yet to find a book that will not work on the Nook Simple Touch and I have literally hundreds of books.

how can u only dowload books and other media without unlimited access to internet
.I don't want middle school child to have access to internet.
You need to be somewhere where WiFi is available - such as a Barnes and Noble store, a McDonalds, a Starbucks and thousands of other locations. You can also use the WiFi in your home if you have it. There is no charge for downloading books to the Nook through WiFi.

Is This Just For Books ?
Will this work as a stand alone TABLET, without any of the book stuff ?
Most of the devices in this genre can be "rooted" and used as an android device. I am not sure about the Nook Simple Touch specifically, but out of the box it is a reader. It is not capable of playing games like Angry Birds. It is a monochrome screen so you would probably prefer a color device if you wish to play games too.

DOES IT TALK the books ?
Id like to have it READ BOOKS to me while I drive, etc,,,, Can it read the books, or is there a APP Download ?
The Nook Simple Touch cannot read a book audibly. The Nook HD and HD+ can, but the best voice I have found in a reader comes with the Kindle HD. It is not a robotic voice. Stop by Best Buy and listen to the different readers and you decide what you prefer.
