Very nice but not perfect
on January 26, 2017

The head phones were very easy to connect to my iphone 7 Plus. I downloaded Under Armour’s Record app and I was able to connect the headphones via blue tooth. I like how the app lets you set audio prompts after you reach a specific distance or time. The audio prompts tell you your pace, distance, calories burned, heart rate and heart rate zones. This is nice instead of trying to have to get your watch to turn on and find the data or having to try and swipe through your smart watch as you are exercising. It is nice to have an audio option too. What I really liked was that you could tap on the Under Armour logo on the right ear bud for an audio update about your HR, this was very convenient especially when it is darker. The HR seemed to be accurate when I compared it to a smart watch and a smartwatch hooked up to a chest strap. The longer I rode my bike, the more consistent my HR was. When lifting weights, the accuracy went down some, but it was better than just a smart watch. Chest HR monitors still seem to be the gold standard for HR, when lifting weights.
The fit is nice. I prefer in ear head phones that can rest on top of the ears with a loop hook. I ride an Air Assault bike that uses my arms too and I need a good fit from keeping in ear phones from falling out. The hook loop on top seemed to help keep the head phones on tight. The ear phones use an open design, which does let you hear noises around you (cars and people when you are outside) but it will not block noise (exercise machines, music played over speakers, etc). I listen and watch streaming on an ipad while working out and when riding my Air Assault bike, the noise from the bike fans did cause me to turn up the volume but not at a level that hurt my ears. I do wish that the ear buds did go further down the ear canals to block more noise.
The ear phones came with a nice and easy to use carrying case and there are four different size earbuds which is nice. The ear phones charged using a micro usb port located on the remote. The remote was easy to use to pause and fast forward or reverse songs too. I would rate the sound as good as it gets when using Bluetooth. No Bluetooth ear phone will be perfect and using head phones while exercising is not considered perfect conditions for optimal sounds.
The ear phones are rated IPX5 so they are not fully waterproof, but they are rated for light rain and they survived a 50 mile indoor bike ride and I sweat a lot.
If you are someone who likes to listen to music while, walking, jogging, biking or some other form of cardiovascular exercise and wants to know your pace, distance, calories burned and HR but does not own a smart watch or fitness watch and does not want one, this is a great item. If you do a lot of weight lifting, cross fit or High Intensity exercise where your HR is going up very rapidly, I wouldn’t recommend this for you, buy a chest HR monitor. Sound is good (though I prefer hearing less background noise) and the ear phones did an excellent job of staying in my ears while riding my bike.

Great Mesh Wifi easiest set up ever
on January 11, 2017
Posted by: giper54
This is my third Wi-Fi mesh system I have used, and the Linksys Velop is my favorite one. What I like best about the Velop is that it has fast performance and able to cover a large area because it has a dedicated 5 mHz band for back haul connection. Some mesh Wi-Fi systems and repeaters loss up to half the speed when using the extender or additional mesh unit. The dedicated channel for backhaul lets you experience faster speeds with your additional Velop units.
I have 50 up and 5 down cable internet. In my main room with the router and modem I can get speeds of up to 61 Mbps up and 6 Mbps down. In my living room I have an additional Velop unit. I experience the exact same numbers. With my old systems my speed would be around 25 Mbps down and 2 Mbps Up. The Velop I was able to have the exact same speeds 61 Mbps down and 6 Mbps up. I experienced the same numbers where I watch streaming down stairs with an iPad pro. No longer do I experience any buffering or lose of signal and clarity has been greatly improved. I set a third Velop unit in my garage and here is where I love it. Speeds in my garage used to by 3 Mbps down and >1 Mbps up. With the Velop I know have 40 Mbps down and 5 Mbps down. By my pool I could never have a signal and now my speeds are 30 Mbps down and 4 down. At the back of my property (3/4 of an acrea about 120 feet from the main router and 100 feet from the 3rd Velop unit) I have speeds of up to 30 Mbps down and 3 Mbps down. I now have internet all over my house and yard. I have an older house with plaster and concrete drywall, with a tiled full shower so there is a lot of barriers in my house preventing a strong signal.
Set up was a breeze. I downloaded the app and set everything up. The app let me know if my units were too far from the source and helped me for optimal placement. The app is nice because I can change settings all from my phone. This was the easiest set up I have ever used. My favorite part of the app is that I can set up to three devices as priority devices. This will ensure that they receive top speeds when a lot of other devices are using your wifi.
When I travel throughout the house and outside I never noticed a temporary slowdown in speed as I was watching a movie on Netflix. This is not the case for my other systems I have used. The Velop supports dynamic frequency selection that allows the Velop to automatically pick the best channel or band at a given time to connect your phone, tablets, streaming units, etc and clients together. I like also how I can connect an Ethernet cable to my Apple TV to eliminate signal loss. The Velop also allows for Amazon Alexa to control your home network. Velop also uses airtime fairness which means that when you have multiple devices with different Wi-Fi speed needs, the devices are treated differently based on their top speed. This allows all devices to connect at their best speeds for improved performance and use. The Velop also does support MU-MIMO, but I did not use this.
Lastly I love the style of the Velop. It is tower based and easily blends in with your house. The tower set up doesn’t take a lot of space on a desk and most of the wires come out the back and are out of site.
If you want a wifi system that will cover all of your house, super easy to set up and not have to think about it in order to for your wi-fi to perform at a premium, this is the wi-fi mesh system for you.

Great compact blender
on December 22, 2016
Posted by: giper54
I mainly use a blender like the Ninja NutriBowl for making a smoothie and I am very happy with the Nutri Ninja NutriBowl. First the packaging, the blender was well packed and easy to take out of the box to set up. It seems like it would be easy to put back in if you had to repack it if you were moving. The blender is very compact but powerful and it does not take up a lot of space, which is nice if you are limited in counter space, but need a compact device to blend many different items. The Ninja was able to easily blend 4 cups of kale, a lemon, a table spoon of chia, 1 and a half cups of blueberries and strawberries along with a scoop of protein powder. I blend the kale, chia meal and lemon with 2 cups of water first. The Ninja NutriBowl easily blended the kale and chopped up lemon and blended most of the precut kale well with little bits of kale still left and a piece or two of lemon grind. This is very similar to other high end blenders I have used in the past. Next I would add another cup of water, and 1 and a half cups of blueberries and strawberries with protein powder and blend again. The Nutri Ninja left me with a well blended and easy to drink smoothie. I put the extra in a large thermos and drink the rest for lunch usually around 2 cups and after an easy stir it was still smooth. I also used the Ninja to blend chia seed into meal and it worked well even for those hard to blend items. The presets on the blender worked well and are accurate. Clean up is easy. My smoothies did not leak while I made them, which made cleaning up the motor easy. Having suction cups on the bottom of the blender was nice as it made the unit more stable which helped keep the unit cleaner. The blending cups are easy to clean and can be washed in the dishwasher which is nice since my smoothies tend to stain other blenders. You do need to be careful if you put a lot of items in the blender and are trying to pack the items in. Do not use your fingers as the blades in the blender are very sharp and can easily cut your fingers. Over all this is an excellent diverse blender that blends many different items well, is compact and easy to clean.

Great system for your medium to large house
on December 8, 2016
Posted by: giper54
I have had the 3 piece Google wifi router for two days. Set up was very easy. You can download an app for either ios or Android. From the app you can set up the router and the two other extenders and it took me about 5 minutes. The app is nice as it allows you to prioritize a device and you even have the ability to turn off the router for certain devices, which is nice if you have kids and want to make sure that they are only using wifi when you want them to.
The wifi units themselves are nice. They are not shaped like your traditional routers with antennas sticking out. They easily blend in and become part of the background. You can even adjust the light level. The LED lights are nice to see what kind of signal you have between your routers too.
Speed was good for me. Right next to the main router I had 61 Mbps. I have a smaller house 1800 sq feet, but there is a bathroom between my router and the TV room. There is concrete drywall between the two rooms along with a tile shower that interferes with my typical wifi signal. The other extenders work well and I can download 61 Mbps. I placed another one in my garage that is not connected in the house and I can receive a signal there too (I do not have a signal without an extender). The mesh system is nice as I do not notice any difference in performance as I go from on router to the other.
This is a great system if you want to be able to hook it up easily and be able to access your wife via your phone. If you are one who wants to be able to really tinker with your wifi settings I would suggest a traditional router and extender. The Google Wifi is probably the most cost effective system out there to ensure a strong wifi signal throughout a medium to large house and to not have to think or worry about it once you have set it up.

Keep unwanted hair to a minimum with this Philips grooming tool. The waterproof design lets you use it in the shower, and eight attachments make this trimmer perfect for grooming different sections of the face. Nice all in one shaver
on November 17, 2016
Posted by: giper54
This is a great starter face, head and body trimmer. The packaging of the shaver was nice and it was very easy to unpack and keep track of all of the attachments. A leather bag is also included which helps store the shaver and all of the attachments.
It took about an hour to charge the shaver for the first time. I used it to shave. I like the shaving attachment as it has two small blades to precut any long hairs and then the regular shaving attachments has an easier time for a closer shave.
The clipper attachments are easy to put on and they seem to stay in place so that an even cut is made.
Attaching the other attachment takes a little used to, but once you figure out how to connect them, it is easy.
The trimmer has enough power to shave, trim body hair and cut hair.
I like how their are two different size clippers blades for an even closer cut.
Over all I was very happy with the trimmer. The only improvements I would like to see is a usb port for a charger and different finish where the metal part is, as it is a little bit slippery at first.

Great Router if you have a lot of devices
on October 23, 2016
Posted by: giper54
I received this router from Best Buy to use and review.
The packaging of the box is excellent. The router and antennas where packed in molded foam along with the power cord, ethernet cord, CD and installation instruction. This made for easy unpacking.
Set up was very easy. The quick start guide that was included in the box was one of the easiest to use and understand. I probably had the router set up and connected in five minutes.
The four antennas that were included attached easily and are firm so that they stand up or can be angled and they will stay in that position.
I used a Mac to set up the router.
The following devices are connected to the router, laptop, iPad pro, two iPhones, Apple TV, HP printer and an iPod, along with a direct connection to the Mac.
The majority of the devices we use are connected using 2.4 MHz.
5 MHz was ok, but I found a better range and performance with 2.4 MHz. 2.4 seems to have the best connection and speed at my house (1800 sq feet). I am seeing an improvement of speed and reception compared to my last router. I watch Sling TV on my iPad and it would buffer periodically, this no longer happens with the new router.
The software is easy to use and I like how you can prioritize which device gets the best connection.
The unfortunate thing is that there are not any devices that can currently take advantage of the latest Tri-band 160 technology.
If you need to upgrade your router and you have a lot of devices to connect, this is a great router. If you more range you may want to look at the more expensive Linksys routers.
