BEAST of a Blender - Go Get One!
on December 1, 2017
Posted by: BADog
from Hoover, AL
Do you want a BEAST of a blender? Stop here, ADD TO CART, and save the rest of your day looking up blender information and making comparisons. This is THE best blender you will find at the consumer level.
--PROS--
* This thing is a BEAST. It has a 3HP motor, tops in the consumer blending industry. It's basically a commercial grade blender.
* The BEST THING - the VORTEX suction. YOU DON'T NEED A TAMPER! I currently have another branded blender (which hasn't Aided me in the Kitchen), and I'm constantly having to push the ingredients down to the bottom. With the Blendtec, no tamper is needed. Due to shape of the container and the design of the metal non-sharpened blades, everything is sucked down to the bottom. It's an engineering marvel really. It doesn't get any easier than this.
* It will blend through anything thoroughly, though I haven't tried putting rocks in it yet.
* Settings galore in order to make the perfect mix including a finger slider speed adjustment module.
* The touch interface is awesome and extremely EASY TO CLEAN
* Did I mention the blades are not sharp like some brands? No worries of cutting your fingers if you get to cleaning the bottom of the container.
* The 8-YEAR WARRANTY. For close to $500, you expect greatness from a kitchen appliance such as this. They back up their product with 8 years of replacement/repair in the event the beast has issues. This is rarely seen anywhere in the kitchen appliance realm.
* Some blenders bases move or rotate slightly when using - this one stays put.
* The stainless look with LEDs look great on the counter top. It just LOOKS like it means business.
* NO ICE CHUNKS. I have made about 10 pineapple smoothies so far and every single one has been creamy smooth. You won't have any ice chunks getting stuck in your straw.
--CONS--
* Yeah, it's loud. It's a 3HP motor that has a job to do - and to do it well. Blenders typically make quite a bit of noise... if you want it done right, it's going to be a little louder. I'll sacrifice sound for a job done better than any other blender.
* Manufacturer states you can dishwasher-clean this thing on the top rack. Problem: It won't fit on the top rack upside down in many cases. If this is a problem, you can put on the bottom rack; however, this could VOID the incredible warranty they offer.
So get ready to fall in love if you have used other inferior branded blenders like I have. It's not even a fair fight. Power. 8-year warranty. Performance. You get it all. Stop reading and comparing.... once you get this thing, you'll be saying the same thing.

Great Thermostat Upgrade!
on November 7, 2017
Posted by: BADog
from Hoover, AL
Disclaimer: I have central air with a TRANE gas heat furnace, already on a battery-powered digital Honeywell thermostat which only has basic thermostat operations.
My installation story - problem and apparent fix:
Upon receiving this new thermostat, I uninstalled my previous "regular" Honeywell thermostat to find my current system connected via 4 wires (green, white, yellow, and Red [Rc]). This new thermostat requires a power wire, or C-wire, to be connected from the gas furnace (in my case). Luckily, the wireset "sheath" that my thermostat uses has 8 total wires inside, so I simply connected this new thermostat to the same connection points as the previous thermostat and then connected the already-present blue (power) wire connection to this unit and the gas heater. Upon connecting, I flipped the breakers back on, set up the thermostat, set the display colors and wifi tech info, and I was set. One problem: The fan didn't turn on even though the unit showed it as "Fan on".
I checked all my connections - they were ok. I called Honeywell tech support. They said everything was wired correctly and that it was likely a TRANE issue. I called a TRANE technician, and he stated it was wired correctly over the phone. I started from scratch and went through setup again - same result. I tried going well above and below the current 65-degree temp to see if the A/C or the heat would trigger the fan to actually run. It did not.
After waking up the next morning, I decided to check the wiring inside the thermostat and everything was tightly connected. Upon placing the thermostat back on the base unit, the thermostat went though its checks, initialized the system, and eventually turned on WITH THE FAN.
After speaking with another Honeywell representative, it appears that the unit just needed to be reseated in order for this "glitch" to clear as no wires were changed, tightened, or moved during this process of removing and reseating the thermostat unit to the base plate. Very strange.
OBSERVATIONS:
The unit works and looks great and is easy to operate. You can operate via the Honeywell Wi-Fi app, your PC browser, or the unit itself. It can be operated from anywhere by using the app/PC. Setup for temperature scheduling was simple.
The fixture itself has a brightness/color/hue setting which is set for both active and passive modes. Active is when you are currently touching the screen... passive mode takes affect after 5-10 seconds of not touching the screen. The current temperature is displayed in the middle of the screen which is very easy to read from a long distance away. Display also shows indoor humidity along with outdoor temp/humidity.
The unit itself is rather small. Keep in mind that if you replace a bigger unit with this one, you will need to check the paint behind your previous unit, or in my case, an electrical box like the ones used for light switches/plugs but mounted horizontally. There was actually a small hole visible on one side of my unit, so I'll need to fill that in with some spackle and then paint. If your thermostat is in a very visible area, you may want to consider this prior to installation. I have requested Honeywell to develop some sort of frame (or multiple frames) to go around the unit for cases such as this. Then wall repair or painting can be totally avoided.
Overall, the thermostat is working great. Other than the "glitch" of the fan not blowing until I reseated the unit to the base, it has worked fine. The touch-screen is awesome and put together well. Arrangement of options on the display are perfectly placed. And the ability to check or change temperature at anytime, anywhere is a huge plus.
Great job, Honeywell.

Good PC, but Upgrades are needed to become Elite
on November 7, 2017
Posted by: BADog
from Hoover, AL
Out of the box, this gaming PC tower looks for real. It includes a sturdy built-in handle to carry with, and has a sleek look about it. Box includes the tower, keyboard, mouse, power cable, and a little metal rectangular tool which HP is unable to identify after calling their tech support. They said it went with the Omen X series but it was packed with my PC. I'm not sure what it is for at this time other than a tool for another desktop possibly.
I'm not going to bore you with SW included, stats, measurements, and basic tech specs of the machine as there would be a ton to post here - and they are already available via this Best Buy ad and also on HP.com, not to mention other reviews. I won't reinvent the wheel here... but instead will offer up my observations after playing for about 3-4 days now.
PROS:
* Easy to pick up and move with built-in durable handle on top of the unit.
* Great design and look. Looks very cool on the front with the red lighting.
* Great for gaming as it was designed to do. I saw some improvement in performance over my previous system in the games HearthStone Heroes of Warcraft and another game, League of Legends. Transitions were very smooth though a hiccup every now and then did occur, possibly due to internet connection or possible RAM limitations (8GB).
* Plenty of 'regular' USB 3.0 ports, 4 on the back, 2 on the top/front
* Nicely placed and covert DVD drive - on the front - hardly detectable, masked very well.
* Roomy inside the tower itself. Great access to RAM slots, 2 extra HDD slots on the front top (nice camouflaged location), spare slots for cards on the back.
* PC is generally very quiet even with the multiple fans running inside. During gaming sessions, it remains relatively quiet.
CONS:
* The keyboard, OMG the keyboard. Gamers don't want crammed and compacted keyboards. If a keyboard comes with a gaming system, then it should be a gaming one. I know most people will have aftermarket keyboards, and this may be a cost-savings thing by HP... "they're not going to use it anyway, so let's just give them a bad one". That appears to be the reason. Be prepared to use your current keyboard or buy a new one. For gaming purposes, this keyboard is rendered practically useless.
* The mouse - same issue. Basic, and rendered practically useless for gaming. I loathe this mouse. Previous HP mice iterations work better IMO.
* 8GB of DDR4 RAM? Ok, the system is upgradeable to 32GB, but a gaming computer should start out with 16GB out of the box in my opinion. Windows 10 struggles with 8GB by itself. And generally, you can buy RAM at better pricing in pairs... you can't buy 3 as a pair which is how many slots are left in the tower.
* Biggest complaint - No VGA or DVI connections available. Only 1 HDMI port and 3 DP ports are available.
* No DP (display port) converter to VGA/DVI. Personally, I like using DVI the most. Without a DP converter, your only option out-of-the-box is to use HDMI for connecting your display/TV.
The sound provided by the PC is of normal quality. Nothing good or bad there. I have a Logitech sourround sound hooked up using the audio jack and it sounds fine.
Overally, a good gaming PC. It's also priced well if you want the minimum requirements (AMD, minimalistic keyboard/mouse, 8GB RAM, etc) of gaming online. By the time you pay for upgrades to the system, you have spent more than you would normally spend on a better out-of-the-box system.
If this is all you need, then the price and specs are right. If you need more, you may want to explore other options before spending more money on upgrades.

Great for Main or Secondary Monitor using VGA/DVI
on October 11, 2017
Posted by: BADog
from Hoover, AL
Out of the box, this monitor looks great and is easy to setup. Note that even though this is an “edgeless” or “zero-frame” monitor, Acer creates a ¼-inch black frame around the edge of the monitor. So the screen extends to the edge but when turned on, there is a black frame created on-screen anyway. You will see this in one of the attached photos below… the screen is on but there still appears to be a quarter-inch border around the content – that’s still screen material.
APPEARANCE:
• Very sleek and thin. Screen “surface” goes all the way to the edge of the monitor’s top and sides.
• Monitor can be angled slightly or straight up and down – HOWEVER, the connecting piece between the base and the monitor itself needs to be removed from the monitor body before adjusting as the metal plate and hinge is very tight and may damage components on the monitor if adjusted while already inserted into the monitor body.
• Lit-up power button when in the “on” or “standby” mode.
• Power cord has an in-line transformer block. The cord segment from the block to the monitor is very thin which helps with concealment and appearance.
PROS:
• Great and crystal clear VGA/DVI picture. The 27” screen pops with color and brightness, both of which are adjustable.
• Videos as smooth as laptop processor will allow on full screen.
• No-glare screen
• Monitor offers DVI, VGA, and HDMI inputs
• Rubber feet, sturdy
CONS:
• HDMI picture from HP ENVY PC causes much video loss… black lines are missing, colors are off quite a bit. I was unable to fix via graphics card options or screen resolution troubleshooting.
• HDMI picture from a set-top box (I have AT&T U-Verse) provided an ok picture but not as clear and crisp as a regular 1080p TV. I was able to see some minor wavy lines in the picture… the best picture came with VGA/DVI connections via PC.
• When providing an HDMI input to the monitor and then using the audio jack on the back of the monitor, the audio is weakened greatly in quality and volume range. You will need to use the main audio source (cable box, PC, etc) instead of using the audio jack on the back of the monitor. You lose a great deal of sound quality using the monitor's audio/headphones jack.
• There is no remote, so you will have to use the buttons next to the power button on the underside of the right side of the monitor. It was a little cumbersome at first and hard to navigate, but once you see how to maneuver the menu, you can eventually get everything set like you like. Since this is only done once, this isn’t a huge negative.
• It would have been nice to have the picture extend all the way to the edge of the screen instead of creating a black ¼” border on-screen. I’m not sure why that was done when you’d have more real estate the other way… even if by ½ inch total.
Overall, if using VGA/DVI, this is a great monitor with a great picture. You may end up avoiding HDMI use, as PC inputs provided a much better experience. I use as a secondary monitor with a DVI cable and audio directly from my PC so my experience has been nothing but superb with this model so far. But work could still be done to improve HDMI and audio shortcomings.

BOSE Clearly at the Top of Their Game - Again
on October 4, 2017
Posted by: BADog
from Hoover, AL
DISCLAIMER: These earbuds have been tested using a Samsung Note 8, Samsung Galaxy S7 Plus, and a Windows 7 laptop.
BOSE continues to be on top of their game. These wireless headphones are truly completely wireless and sound great.
PROS:
• NO wires, not even connecting to each earbud. This eliminates getting hung on collars and mere wire annoyance.
• Incredible sound. All frequency ranges are covered well and bass hits when needed.
• Easy BT connectivity. Easy to connect via the Bose Connect app.
• Earbuds charge magnetically via battery charging case for on-the-go charging (2 full extra charging cycles). Since these buds don’t last but 4-5 hours, they may need to be charged on the go when you don’t have a power connection. Instead of having to bring a backup charging battery, the case IS that battery. The case is slightly bigger than a roll of quarters.
• Good BT range. If staying in “line-of-sight”, BT (bluetooth) range was good up to around 50’. However, once a wall was encountered, 25-30’ was the max (normal BT range).
• Battery indicators on both the battery case and earbuds when case is opened. Each white dot on the front of the case represents 20% of battery life on the case itself. When opened, each bud has a white light that signifies if it is charging or not. Simple concept….
• Automatic BT pairing after removing from case. You don’t have to put the earbuds in pairing mode – it’s automatic. If it’s already paired with a device in range, it automatically connects and states what it’s connected to in the right earbud by spelling out the device name.
• Case locks shut – the case shouldn’t open if dropped. As a matter of fact, you have to press the button completely in all the way before it will open… that’s a slight con. A magnetic case closure seems to be a better idea, however it would likely pop open if dropped.
• FIND MY EARBUDS!!! If you lose an earbud (or 2), they have GPS built-in so you can find them using the BOSE connect app – assuming they are still powered up.
• Tight fit. They won’t come out of your ear when running, jumping, and other normal activities.
CONS:
• BT antennas can act flakey. While wearing, I can cup my hand over the earbud or put my hand on the side of my head at times, and the covered ear may cut out its sound. It’s a bit strange given the fact that the earbud’s signal to the other earbud goes through your head – but covering it up causing the sound to go out sometimes.
• Buttons slightly tough to press. The main vol/select buttons on the right ear are durable but slightly hard to depress. This is not a huge deal, but having a slightly easier button to press would be nice.
• After a long time, earbuds can become slightly uncomfortable in ear. After about an hour, you may need to take out of your ear to give your ear a break and then put them back in. The monotonous feeling in the ear where the wing is can cause a little discomfort.
• No wall charger included. With the money spent on any BOSE product, a wall charger should be provided. There isn’t always a computer handy with USB ports, and you may want to charge the case up somewhere not by a computer. If you have plenty of other devices that comes with USB wall chargers, this obviously isn’t a problem unless they are also being used.
• Phone calls are right earbud only. I have a couple other brands (wired and wireless) where calls are in stereo – much more comfortable to listen to and doesn’t overload one ear.
• Volume levels vary per device. This was tricky. When testing on a Note 8, the volumes of the earbuds (BOSE app) were aligned with the volume of the Note 8 itself. That was fine because everything was synced up. However, when using the Samsung Galaxy S7 Plus, the volumes of the app and the volume of the phone (media) did not sync up at all. In this state, the S7 was actually able to increase the volume dB level about 2-3 more pushes of the volume increase button on the earbuds. In the end, the MAXIMUM VOLUME WAS LOUDER USING THE S7 PLUS THAN USING THE NOTE 8. Of course, if you don’t have multiple platforms to test between, you’d never know that. I am not certain of the volume levels when paired with Apple devices.
• Still a little large in size. The earbuds poke out of your ear quite a bit but luckily stays secure with the wing attachments. With the technology and batteries in each piece, I’m not sure how much smaller they can go and still have battery life that is desired.
• Only 2 colors available right now – 1) black 2) blue. If you want anything else, you may appear out of luck unless a new color is released.
Overall, one of the best set of wireless earbud sets around, if not THE best. The construction of the earbuds appear well built as it was with its predecessor. I can’t confirm how well they work with wetness/sweat as I generally don’t wear them for that purpose. However, not having a wire flinging around or attached to your clothing has to be a plus. I highly recommend!
Great job, BOSE!

LG’s SJ7 Sound Bar Flex offers endless entertainment from a versatile dual-speaker design: The two main speakers can be placed in front of the TV, or to the left/right vertically or in front of and behind the listener for an even more cinematic experience. Both speakers are Bluetooth, and the right unit has a built-in battery, so it can work independently just about anywhere.

Great Versatile System, LG!
on August 12, 2017
Posted by: BADog
from Hoover, AL
This LG system was exactly what I have been looking for. All of the TV’s in my home have an area to put a sound bar except my master bedroom – we have a split TV entertainment center area below the TV. With the ability to split the speakers, this works great. See pictures.
As for the product itself, LG is back in the game. The sound is quite good though some of the higher sound frequencies could be enhanced a bit. Even with the Sub, Treble, and Bass controls, the treble still needed a little more.
PROS:
1. Optical audio, HDMI pass-through. When you have the option for fiber audio out of the TV (and the TV speakers can be turned off), this is the best option soundwise – one that this system allows for.
2. Great bass. Overall clear and full sound. Great for any room in the house. If you’re in an apartment, the neighbors will be asking you to turn it down – it can thump very well, especially when in BASS BLAST mode.
3. SUPER easy setup. Out-of-the-box ready. I plugged in all 3 pieces, powered up the system, and everything was synced immediately. No pairing or other needless processes to get things working. After playing around with the remote (sound preferences, functions, etc), I got it to levels that were quite comfortable in a couple of minutes.
4. The #1 reason (for me) was the ability to split the speakers into a left and right channel. I have 2 areas below my TV in which I can put components, and a full-sized sound bar just won’t fit – and I’m unable to put a full-sized sound bar aesthetically-pleasing in front of the TV based on our setup. This was perfect!
5. The 2 main speakers aren’t completely cordless, and can be limited to 3 wires if LG Audio Sync isn’t used. No one likes wires, but there are 2 power cables (1 to each unit) and the optical cable (instead of HDMI pass-through). If using this configuration, a little cable routing with zip ties will make for a pretty clean installation.
6. The system has an “auto-on” feature. If it recognizes a signal coming in (wired OR BT [Bluetooth]), the system auto-powers up the unit and starts playing on whichever function is actually triggered. To power OFF, you have to manually turn off the unit either with the (a)remote, (b) power button on the left side of the left speaker, (c) via the LG BT app, or (d) after 15 minutes, the unit will auto-shutdown.
7. Uses the latest BT version – BT version 4.0.
CONS:
1. Needs some work on the treble frequencies. This is something that can be fixed in the next iteration of SJ# series I’m sure. The highs were only high when I used my phone’s graphic equalizer to amp up that frequency range. It’s definitely not a deal-killer though. It gives me enough treble, but to nit-pick, that’s one area of improvement needed.
2. If using battery-only with the 1-speaker option, the battery will only give you about 4 hours of operation… low by BT speaker standards.
NOTES:
** I am connected via Samsung Galaxy S8 & Note8 devices. When connected via BT, I can turn up the volume on my phone to MAX and the number on the LG speaker shows 20. Note that if you use the remote/unit to turn up the volume more, it can be done up to level 40 (MAX). Now if at that point I hit the volume down button on my Samsung phone, it immediately goes down to volume 19. Apparently, the device’s software isn’t quite in sync with the full volume spectrum allowed by the device which I thought was strange. So if I wanted to go higher than 20 volume, I had to do it with the LG remote or left speaker controls.
** BT connectivity was in the normal range of around 30-40 feet before the audio started to skip out.
** Both speakers use small power block adapters but there is quite a bit of thin cord on the speaker hookup side. The subwoofer has no power block – it is a basic power cord that’s detachable.
** The subwoofer fires out the front/back of the unit. Some units fire downwards – this one does not.
** The remote uses 2 AAA batteries. The remote is extremely light in weight. The buttons are soft and do not click. It has great response with the system.
** When powered down, there is a red LED on the bottom left part of the right speaker that remains on.
** When powered up, that same light turns white along with a small LED area on the left speaker that shows what function you are using. When using other functions like volume, surround sound, treble, etc, it will temporarily show that information before showing the current input again. There is no way to manually turn off or dim the white LED display or power lights; however, they are at a comfortable level for me. After 15 seconds of no key input, it auto-dims on its own. It brightens when a key is depressed again.
OTHER FEATURES
1. Can be used as a single BT speaker on battery power. This is not very ideal as it shows dirt easily and will tip over easily as well, even with the detachable stand. By itself, it doesn’t pack a huge punch without the subwoofer. I’d go with a unit that’s really MADE to do that type of job. Besides, should you take it somewhere and it get dented or scratched up, then you have one speaker that’s in mint condition while one takes a beating of BT use outside the home – not to mention the fact that if you go on a long trip, it will need to be recharged – and you’ll have to take the power cord for that speaker too.
2. Front-Rear setup. I don’t have that setup at my home, but the remote does offer the option to raise and lower the volume of the rear speaker should you opt to use that configuration.
3. The ability to offer a couple of stands makes the unit look better if propped up, but it can still be tipped over easier than most units.
4. You can only use power cables to hook up the unit (omit the HDMI or optical cables) if you have a “compatible” LG Sound Sync TV which uses BT. Well, I don’t have such a TV by LG that has that technology, so I have to use a trusty optical cable instead.
5. LG offers the “LG Bluetooth App” which will pair up with the device and you can use certain controls like on the remote – but a bit more limited. You can also play songs that are on your phone from the app. I didn’t see a lot of use from the app though.
6. 4 sound modes – adaptive sound control (ASC) which is the default, Standard, Bass Blast, and Cinema. I tend to use ASC the most.
7. Supports LPCM, Dolby Digital, DTS Digital Surround.
Overall, a really SOLID system that I would most definitely recommend.
LG – Welcome to the party!

Love the concept - but it needs more
on July 28, 2017
Posted by: BADog
The Roomba 890. Great concept though I have questions about the direction of the company making different levels of robots which I will get to later.
POSITIVES:
*It really sucks… in a good way. It sucks hard on carpet, and sucks even better on non-carpet. When travelling from non-carpet to carpet surfaces, you can hear the motor rev up to do harder work on those carpet fibers.
*It’s generally easy to use. 1 button – CLEAN – and away it goes.
*Easy to dump dirt bin without dirt and dust getting everywhere. No bags to buy.
*Can run via app while away from your home.
*Battery is great! After running on tile only, I cleaned a giant room which included a ping pong table, a foosball table, an air hockey table, and a 6-ft long eating table with chairs… it took an hour and still had juice before it decided to dock.
NEGATIVES:
*Though there are no bags to buy, you do have to purchase new paper filters. Surely that could be resolved with a cleanable filter right? After paying $500 for a vacuum cleaner, I would hope to not have to make a lot of further purchases just in order to keep it working at peak performance. I’m forced to buy filters regardless. In this day and age of bag-less vacuums and washable filters, that’s one feature that should be implemented.
*It’s random where it decides to go. It doesn’t get everywhere that you need it to go. If there is a heavily dirtied area, I didn’t see it really focus in on that one area more than others. If a person is to pay this much money for a vacuum, even a robot one, I would think it would do a thorough job and get all/most of the dirt. After all, what did I buy a vacuum for?? – to vacuum 60% of my floor? That means I have to get out my main vacuum and nearly do the entire floor again in order to make sure everything was done.
*Once done vacuuming, it’s done. It does not pick up where it left off once it docks (after low battery or cycle just ends).
And now I get to my point about different levels of robots. Why, as a company, would you want to make different levels of devices that clean your house? Why would I ever want my house only partly vacuumed? I have NEVER in my life vacuumed a room fully (not a spot vacuum) and not fully vacuumed it. It’s assumed in the definition of vacuuming a room – you vacuum the entire room. These robots are a bit random in their movements, and quite a bit of the room is not even touched one time, especially in a complicated room. However, take the Roomba 980 though, and you have more of a complete robot because it has a camera and tracks its movement to tries to cover an entire room before docking. And, if it doesn’t finish, it will dock, get charged up, then go start where it left off. Why would a person want anything less? For $400 more than the 890, you can get the 980. Personally, I think that’s a lot, but that’s relative. There is a lot of technology in these machines, but to pay $499 for a random floor cleaner vs $899 for a more thorough one… me? I’d pick a manual vacuum and do it myself in ¼ the time and for ¼ the price. Look at it this way, if you wash your car, would you only wash the hood, trunk and wheels? Same applies here.
Great concept, iRobot – it TRULY is – however, there should be only ONE Roomba… one that does it all, and at an affordable price. Anything else is just shorting the customer IMO.

Nice simple "wired" camera
on July 28, 2017
Posted by: BADog
Disclaimer: I used a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge as my app device.
Setup was simple. Using it was simple. The best feature is the fact that it uses CLOUD storage - and it claims to save the last 24 hours of footage, assuming it stays on and there's daily movement. I didn't have a lot of motion with my camera and so far, it has stored 3 days worth of footage. The user interface is so simple that you almost want there to be more a times.
The negatives:
"Though 1080p capable, when pinching/zooming in on the picture, it's not as clear as one would hope for. Objects 10 feet away are still a bit blurry when zooming in. The full picture of the camera looks fine though.
*You can ONLY view it in Landscape mode on your phone (the image doesn't rotate with how you situate your phone)
*The unit had to be restarted 3 times in 3 days in order to connect. When trying to connect to the camera, all I got was a spinning circle in the middle of the screen. After restarting the camera, the video came up. That's a pretty big deal if you are away and can't get video that you paid for.
*The picture is colorful but a bit distorted. This can be adjusted a little in the settings, but it has more of a fisheye look than what I would normally want. No horrible though.
POSITIVES:
*Though a "wired" camera, it's really wireLESS as far as internet connectivity. The "wired" just means a long USB cable for POWER only. So in that sense it is wired. There is no ethernet port anywhere on the camera or base.
*Easy setup as I said before.
*LED started off a little rough. There is a very thin LED circle around the center of the camera that's about 1.5" in diameter. At first, in the settings, I tried turning it off, but it would never go off. I waited a day, took a firmware release that was just released, and it went off finally. If the camera is to be stealth, it does not need to be lighting up at night especially. It turns green, red, white, and yellow depending on the settings you are using it for.
*It's a little big in diameter to fit in small places. This isn't really a "covert" camera, but it's oblong size on top does make it a little difficult at times to squeeze in small areas. A lot of times, we don't want our cameras to be seen - this one is clearly seen with a white body and black front.
Overall, not a bad camera. For that price though, there are better options and quality elsewhere. For a simple camera, it fits the bill perfectly... for monitoring pets, children in cribs, and possibly even a front door outside. However, with the power wire having to be used, uses are quite limited at times.
I did not use outside, so I can't vouch for the waterproofness of the camera. However, the speaker and mic work though a little distorted at times. It's hit or miss here. If you're looking for advanced features, you'll want to get something else... simple things - it's right up your alley.

Great rugged speaker with nice powerful sound
on June 21, 2017
Posted by: BADog
Normally, I would post a pic, but this thing just is what it is in the picture. It's big, and it's a boss. And this is only the REBEL - not the bigger version.
The devices comes with a regular-sized male-male 3.5mm audio cable for connecting to a sound source (input) or by adding one (aux out). Instruction manual, safety manual. Proprietary charging cable with 4-5 different snap-on AC plug prongs which allows use in different countries. Personally, this is a waste since these plug adapter kits can be purchased online to adapt to multiple plugs anyway.
I paired up with a Samsung Galaxy S8 with no issues. I used manual BT connection (not NFC) and it connected immediately. The S8 and the Rebel do not have "volume pairing", so the 2 volumes work independently of each other. The best solution is to turn up the volume of the Rebel all the way and then control the volume with the handset. There is no volume indicator; however, once max volume is reached, the entire row of buttons on the Rebel blink rapidly as long as the vol+ button is pressed.
Phone functions all work perfectly with the speaker. The built-in mic worked without flaw, and my sister (on the other line) could not tell that I was even using an external speaker as my communication. The device did not have music on it, so I used Pandora to listen to some tunes. All buttons on the Rebel (play/pause, rew, ff, vol+/- all worked perfectly with Pandora. I maxed out the volume on the S8 and the Rebel on multiple songs including heavy rock (Metallica), and there was nearly no distortion whatsoever. The bass sound was flowing out of the ends of the speaker while the mids/highs came out the front. Sounded great and powerful.
I tested out the AUX OUT with a Bose Revolve+ speaker using the 3.5mm cable and when I hooked up the Bose and spread them out, it sounded phenomenal. The Bose Revolve+ added a little more highs that the Rebel did not offer - and combined, it really mixed well with each other.
I had the Rebel on a marble counter top and even with the super sticky rubber feet, it did tend to move slightly due to the bass it was able to generate. So words to the wise - if you put this speaker up high, keep an eye on it if it's jammin' because after some time, it may vibrate off of the surface and onto the floor.
The build was great. Very sturdy. The handle was a must-have engineering necessity. To carry this thing without a handle would be extremely awkward.
The rear panel also offered a power indicator button which has around 5-6 little white lights that shows how much battery you have left. Good feature, but IMO, that's something better shown in a more visible place so it's easy to check.
I have a couple of gripes about the speaker....
1. The charger doesn't need to be proprietary. It needs to have USB charging capabilities, even if a USB-C connection. Everyone has USB charging cables (well, maybe except for some apple people?) for their phones and other devices... no one wants to take another cord that can only be used for this device.
2. The sound of the highs isn't ideal. It's always good to find a speaker that has it all - bass, treble, mid-range... this one does, but it does lack that added high that some other speakers offer where you can hear the cymbals a little clearer or the high-hat on the drum set.... going up on the audio frequency range would help tremendously.
3. Finally, this BT device claims to have 100-feet range. I tested in my house, and it cleared as far as any other BT device - around 30-35 feet before it started clipping out. Keep in mind that the S8 I used has BT 5.0 which claims 4x the range of regular BT. Having said that, walls matter. Once you get to that 25-30-foot range and walls happen, your audio will begin to suffer. If I'm doing something wrong here, perhaps NYNE will let me know what I need to do to get that 100' range. If it's merely OPEN space to 100', that usually only happens at the beach or a park. In a home, if walls matter, then 100' will never work - at least it didn't in mine.
Overall, a great speaker. It will get plenty of use during travel baseball season. If it rains, it will be semi-protected as it is only splash/dust proof to an extent. Other speakers can nearly swim... so you'll still need to keep it pretty dry if you don't want it to fry.

Great headset for a hard-of-hearing old guy

Verified Purchase:Yes
Bought this for my father-in-law so he could listen to TV via headphones without blowing out everyone else's eardrums in the room. These things serve their purpose and actually sound GREAT. He said they are extremely comfortable... and with volume controls on the headset itself, if he ever needs to increase or decrease the volume of what he's watching, the remote stays put - he just adjusts the headphones volume so the volume in the room remains the same for everyone else. Great product - and THANK YOU SONY!!

how does it sound with music on a computer?

Sound is good for gaming mainly. If you have bass sounds in a game, they sound very good. But if you're looking for bass sounds in music using this speaker, you'll probably want to go with a speaker system with a dedicated sub.

Keep your patios and entryways looking great with this Hoover ONEPWR cordless hard-surface sweeper kit. The lightweight construction makes cleaning tasks easier, while the long-lasting battery lets you get through extensive jobs before having to recharge. This Hoover ONEPWR cordless hard-surface sweeper kit blows up to 85 mph to get solid results fast.

How long does this run after a charge?

I got around 14 minutes on a full charge. Hoover claims 16 minutes but I was unable to get that multiple times. If you get the 3Ah battery, time will be more, but I'm not sure how much more since that battery was not included in the box.

Drive safely with this Cobra super HD dash cam. Its 1296p recording resolution captures high-quality video footage in any lighting condition, while the extreme temperature protection is tested to withstand sudden fluctuations. This Cobra super HD dash cam provides iRadar route tracking and live police alerts when connected to the iRadar app, so you never miss a thing.

How long does the cobra dash cam hold the footage does it erase it over how can you look back a week to see the footage

it keeps the footage until it starts looping and writes over it. That is, unless the file is protected by manually hitting the blue button on the back of the unit OR if a video is triggered due to GPS event (car is hit). It will also depend on how big of a microSD card you use and how much time is used driving. Many factors.

What is iRadar? How does it work

iRadar is just an app you put on your phone that works with this Cobra dashcam. Without the iRadar app running on your smartphone and bluetoothed to your unit, you won't get GPS data. So you have to turn on the app each time you drive if you want GPS data embedded on your videos. And even then, your MPH won't be on the video itself - it's only seen with the HD Dash Cam program you download from the Cobra website. I have a couple of screenshots on my review with GPS data and without GPS data.

Enjoy a theater-like experience in the comfort of your home with this 370W Samsung soundbar system. Wi-Fi functionality offers hands-free voice control with select devices for an easy intuitive user experience, while dual HDMI ports connect multimedia equipment. This Samsung soundbar system includes a wireless subwoofer that adds rich bass for immersive audio.

Will the new hw q80r shut off like the hw n850 after 5 min of paused movie.

Q80 should do everything the N850 did. Based on specs and my experience with the two, the changes from last year to this year are a name change and a couple of cosmetic changes (dark gray to black chasis, smaller Harmon Kardon label on top of bar, circular fabric over the subwoofer driver instead of cloth covering the entire side). Oh, and they now offer 1 more wifi audio service in addition to Tune-in. They offer Deezer too. Still no Pandora or Spotify via the Smartthings app unfortunately.

You can if they have it of course. Just call them up and give them the SKU and they can easily check inventory.

Will the lid hinge rest/scratch upon the surface when opening it?

It just opens/closes with no latch mechanism. It rests flat against the base but I don't see how it would scratch it.
