Great hair dryer if you don’t mind the price

Note: Since I do not have long hair, I tested the hair dryer on my wife’s hair.
Before testing the hair dryer, I read through the instruction booklet to better understand the “nanoe” technology the product uses. It explained that the hair dryer expels miniscule water droplets, not visible to the naked eye, that infuse hair with moisture and add volume. I was initially skeptical about this claim, but was surprised to find that after use, her hair was indeed smoother than it typically is after a blow dry.
I was not overly impressed with the dryer’s power and speed, as it was comparable to the cheaper, no-frills hair dryer we currently own. However, the “quick-dry” nozzle that comes with the product did seem to improve drying time. The other two nozzles (concentrator and diffuser) worked as well as expected.
The hair dryer has three different temperature levels (cool, warm, and hot), as well as a cool shot button. The warm temperature was sufficient for drying her hair at a reasonable rate. The hot temperature was almost a little too hot.
Overall, I felt that the hair dryer functioned as one would expect, other than the fact that her hair did indeed have less frizz and flyaways. However, I am unsure whether this benefit was worth the rather high cost for the hair dryer, since we normally have purchased hair dryers in the $25 range in the past that have done the job adequately.

Great trimmer at a terrific price

About 4 years ago I purchased the Panasonic ER-GB40 trimmer and was very impressed with it, considering how little I paid for it. With this trimmer, Panasonic has managed to improve the small imperfections of the older model, while keeping the ER-GB370 affordable.
Design
Even though I am very satisfied with my older trimmer, there were a few design flaws I thought could be improved upon. I thought the older model handle was a little thin to hold, the plastic trimmer height was sometimes not easy to remove, and the trimmer teeth were a little too small to get a good cut without hairs being pulled. Panasonic must’ve listened to their customers, because the ER-GB370 corrected those issues by widening the grip, redesigning the plastic trimmer guard, and spacing out the trimmer teeth, while making them larger to accommodate thicker beards.
I was, however, disappointed with the charger for this model. Both models can use the charging base to store the trimmer upright, but I prefer the older base more. It is nice to not have a cord to deal with on the newer model, but this omission requires the outlet to be in the upright direction (see photo). I was able to charge the unit sideways, but noticed the stress it was placing on the outlet.
Functionality
Panasonic was able to speed the charging from 20 hours (older model) to 15 hours (this model). I never once had a problem with running out of battery, so I cannot compare the battery life since both are great.
I love being able to adjust the height of the cut just by a few simple turns on the dial. The trimmer did not pull any hairs and quickly gave my beard a professional-looking trim.
I normally trim my beard at the sink, but I want to mention that it can be used in the shower too.
Conclusion
I recommend purchasing this trimmer if you want to affordably keep your beard nicely trimmed. It does exactly what it is designed to do, and it does it well.

If you feel that the Bose Revolve or Revolve+ will meet your needs, then adding a charging base would be a good investment.
If you are going to invest in this speaker, it would be a good idea to put a little extra money in for a base. The base allows you to keep a micro USB cable plugged in without fear of damaging the main charging port of the speaker. You simply need to place the speaker on the base and rotate it until it falls within the grooves and starts charging.
I would recommend that you purchase this charging base if you decide on the Revolve or Revolve+

Maybe my expectations were set too high

I was very excited to receive the Bose Soundlink Revolve+ and the charging base and eager to test it out. I was impressed with a few aspects of the device, but overall I feel Bose left out some very important features.
Design
The device looks a lot like the Google Home, but has a rubber top with incorporated buttons instead of a touch pad. The Revolve+ is larger than the Google Home and feels just as solid.
Pairing/Setup
The automated woman’s voice is not very clear and the words sound jumbled together. The setup directions are straight-forward and pairs via NFC or Bluetooth, and connects to your phone via Bluetooth or an auxiliary port on the back. To set up your phone, download Bose Connect and have Wifi, Bluetooth, and location turned on. Select Bose Revolve+ from available devices, and the speaker is then ready to play music or be used as a speakerphone. I was unable to find directions on or figure out how to pair it with my Wifi network and thus doubt that is an option.

The speaker can be charged using a charging base or charged by a micro USB cable on the back of the speaker. I was disappointed to find that the speaker cannot be used as a power bank to charge a phone.
Pressing the multi-function button on the speaker will allow you to access your phone’s command features, such as finding a local pizza place or playing a game. I did not find any value in this feature since I have a Pixel and use my voice to activate Google Assistant to perform the same tasks.
The sound is great for such a small speaker and I was impressed with the amount of base it has. I thought if I played music on it via Bluetooth for 13+ hours, it would be almost dead, but it still had 60% charge left.
I made a phone call on it and was impressed on how well I could hear the caller, but was told I sounded far away if I positioned the speaker more than 3 feet from me.

The Soundlink Revolve+ has great sound and the base sounds rich and deep for such a small size. However for the price, I feel Bose should have included WiFi connectivity, voice activated commands, and a phone charging port to compete with comparable devices; therefore, I find it hard to recommend this Bluetooth speaker.

Great vacuum with great suction, and a few flaws

My first Dyson vacuum cleaner is over 10 years old and still going strong, but it is showing its age. I was curious to see what Dyson could do to improve an already great vacuum and was impressed with some of the changes, but not others.

This vacuum was a breeze to put together and did not require any tools. The vacuum came with 3 attachments, but the tangle-free turbine tool did not have a place to store it.

Cleaning power
I was very impressed with how well this vacuum cleaned. The strong suction pulled the carpet while the brush head spun and gave a great cleaning. I was surprised on how much fine dust this vacuum collected. You can even easily vacuum hard wood floors with no adjustment needed other than turning off the spinning brush. This vacuum is by far the best vacuum I have owned, even better than our other Dyson.

Design
Dyson has always done a great job at making a stylish looking vacuum while maintaining functionality. I like how the ball allows you to more freely move around the floor without the feeling of the wheels dragging. However, even though Dyson did a great job of improving this vacuum, there are a few design-related features I was not impressed with. I feel that the dust canister is too small and it does not fully empty without tapping it against the trash can. I am also not a fan of the locking mechanism that replaced the kick stand. When placing the vacuum in the upright position, sometimes it does not lock in place and falls to the ground. Also, when rolling the vacuum away, the brush head sometimes comes unlocked.

I find the Dyson Ball Animal 2 a great vacuum and would recommend it. It does a great job a cleaning both hardwood and carpeted floors and would say it is worth the money.

Great vacuum for hard floors/ short fiber carpets

This is my second review of a Shark vacuum (the other was a Rocket Complete) and I am impressed with how affordable Shark can make these vacuums, and they still have as great of suction power as my Dyson.
Assembly was a breeze and did not require any tools. I did not even have to glance at the instructions since the vacuum is labeled very well. The first thing I noticed about this vacuum was that it had a good weight; it was very light but heavier than a stick vacuum. It can be very time consuming to clean the rollers, but with the easy access (just push in the two latches on the floor nozzle and pull the lift out tab), it took only a few minutes. The roller is also very easy to reinstall after cleaning. After turning the vacuum on, I was surprised to find the vacuum’s volume was only 72dB by the handle in Hard Floor mode and 75dB in Carpet mode, considering that a normal conversation is about 60dB and an alarm clock is about 80dB.
I loved the Hard Floor Hero attachment. I normally use a regular vacuum without the brushroll turned on, but always notice that a lot of dirt is missed. The Hard Floor Hero solved this problem. I do not understand why other companies do not sell or include this accessory, as it is a must have for hardwood floors. I found the vacuum did a great job cleaning both long and short fiber carpets, but it was a bit harsh on the long fiber (about 1/2” high) carpet, as I could see tiny threads of fiber wrapped around the brushroll.
I was a little disappointed that I could not remove the pod and vacuum with the floor nozzle under tight spaces. Shark does offer a model (3-in-1) which does offer this feature, at a much higher price.

I would recommend this vacuum for anyone who wants a very quiet, lightweight, maneuverable vacuum for small to medium sized (1000 – 4000 sqft) homes with mostly hardwood or short fiber carpets. I would not recommend it for frequent use on long fiber carpets due to the extra wear it would cause.

Best mesh Wi-Fi network available

IMPORTANT: Velop cannot be added to existing routers as node extenders. They each act as a router, but can only “talk” to each other and not any other router.
Linksys has taken huge steps in the last year to compete with Netgear with respect to gaming routers, and I believe Linksys is the winner, for now, with this mesh Wi-Fi system.
Previously there was no good option to fix issues with dead Wi-Fi spots, other than a Wi-Fi extender or access point. I have never been a fan of Wi-Fi extenders due to the poor transitioning from one signal to the other, causing the speed to suffer. Fortunately, Velop has fixed this problem. It does not lose speed with each node placed, can be connected in a series (instead of each node requiring placement close to the primary router), and has excellent coverage (two covered my entire 3600 square foot home).
With the limited technology I have, I have come up some unofficial guidelines for how many nodes may be needed. A single Velop would be perfect for an apartment or house around 1200 square feet, two for a small business or house less than 4000 square feet, or three for a house greater than 5000 square feet (I am guessing on this one).
I ran a speed test on the primary node and secondary node and received over 100 Mbps download and about 20 Mbps upload (see photo).

Even though this is not the fastest router out there, it will meet and exceed most needs. It is nice to be able to customize the size of the mesh Wi-Fi network to fit the need for a strong signal without sacrificing speed. Even though these are pricey, I would recommend them to almost everyone, with the exception of hardcore gamers.

Great overall security camera

I have used the Arlo Pro for about a week now and am very impressed. It was very easy to set up and the app is very user friendly. However, it was very time consuming to set up each camera exactly the way I wanted it, but I am very picky. The only negative experience that occurred during setup was a frozen inverted preview image, which I could not fix until I uninstalled and reinstalled the app (I included a photo - it did not matter if invert image was turned on or off)
Settings options:
Turn camera on/off, label each camera, night vision on/off, invert image (in case the camera is upside down), zoom and drag viewing area, adjust video quality/battery life, toggle microphone and speaker, and adjust motion sensitivity. There are options to ensure your camera is set up just the way you like it, in terms of camera positioning and motion detection.

I like that Arlo will support up to 5 cameras with a rolling 7 days worth of recording (up to 1 GB) at no extra charge. There are options to add even more and increase cloud storage for an extra monthly fee.
The only really negative things I have to say about this camera are that it does not have 1080p ability (I’m not sure if it would even matter), it is missing a charging dock on the base station (it would be nice just to set a camera on the base and let the camera recharge), and there is a lack of GPS tracking in case of camera theft.

Deep bass that stays in place

I have owned many pairs of in-ear headsets, and I am pretty impressed by how well these stay in place during vigorous activity. So far Bose and Sony have been the only manufacturers able to make arch supporters which can keep the ear buds secure during workouts. I wish there was a one-size-fits-all with respect to headset comfort/fit, but everyone will have their preferences.
Since this headset has NFC (one-touch connection) technology, pairing was a breeze. The voice notification was a nice touch to confirm the connection. I liked how well the arch supporters helped hold the earbud in place and created a seal to improve the bass. However, it seemed as though the strong bass sacrificed the mids and highs. Just like all my other wireless in-ear headsets, I could hear the cord rustling on the back of my neck while playing music at low volumes or between songs. This could be prevented with a wire harness like the Jaybird X2 uses.
When I used these to make phone calls, I was told I sounded far away or in a tunnel. Just to be fair, I get the same comment when I use my Jaybird X2. Unlike with the Jaybird X2, I was a little surprised that the sound would drop for a half-second while running, although this happened rarely.

After turning on Google Home, I was impressed how easy it was to set up. I was able to install the Home and Keep apps easily and found the list very handy. The trivia questions are entertaining, but I wish I could choose specific trivia topics. I do not own any WiFi connection devices by Nest, Philips Hue, or SmartThings, and was disappointed that my Harmony device could not be controlled by Google Home.
I am not impressed by Google Home’s ability to understand commands. For example, when I said, “OK Google, Jordan is my son,” the response was, “Sorry, I am not sure how to help with that, but I am always learning.” In order to get the device to remember a name you must say, “OK Google, I have a son named Jordan.” With how advanced the Google search engine is, you would think that word order wouldn’t have to matter so much.

Overall Google did a fine job at an initial attempt for a personalized assistant, but I feel the technology falls short of meeting every day demands. I believe Google will partner with more companies such as Harmony and ADT in the future. Until I see these improvements, I will not be recommending this product.

Are you able to put your eye prescription on the frames?
You can have prescription lenses installed. However, you must have Ray-Ban install the lenses for the warranty to remain valid (per Ray-Ban website).

There is no need for a dimmer for this unit. The app allows you to dim the light without the need for a switch.

what does the medium size mean? for heights 5'4 - 6'3?
If your height is between 5 foot 4 inches and 6 foot 3 inches, then the medium boots should be the correct size. If the boot size is too small, the compression will not reach the upper thigh. If too long, then I would imagine the boot would push down on the feet and pushing too high on the inner thigh.

When using the charging case to obtain a wired signal such as PC or a laptop, is the internal microphone still operative?
Your question is awesome and made me want to find out. To test, I made a Duo call to my wife using my laptop. I thought disabling my laptop's mic would cause no sound to be transmitted, so I kept it active and walked 30 feet away from my computer into another room. I could hear my wife fine, but she could not hear me. So, in this test, I can conclude the mic on these earbuds do not work while there is an active Bluetooth connection with the charging case.

The question prior was asked if this is for a pair of dumbbells. An individual stated they reached the company and was for a set. Does that mean a set is a pair? Or a set is individual dumbbell set? Please clarify. The website is poorly written.
You receive two complete dumbells (two dumbbells which BOTH have up to 50lbs each). The box it came in weighed over 100lbs. I hope this makes it clear.

Will the dumbells function if there's a power failure with battery depletion?
If for some reason you had a blackout and the base was depleted, then there would be no way for the base to move the inner rod of the dumbbell. You could still use whatever weight was already selected before the depletion and power outage. To be honest, I would not think this should be a concern. If I ran into this situation, I would just hook up the base to a laptop or powerbank to keep the workout going.

Do these take internet?
The dumbbells do not require the internet and connect via Bluetooth via the app on a phone or tablet. If you wanted to do a live training session, your phone or tablet would need to have internet.
