So much more than just a monitor!!
on March 6, 2023
Posted by: Orion
The new Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 display surpasses mere monitor functionality. This cutting-edge device serves as an all-in-one entertainment and gaming hub, harnessing the latest and greatest features and technologies, to provide users with a fully engrossing and all-encompassing experience. When utilized independently, the monitor exhibits impressive abilities, with an extensive range of entertainment and cloud gaming capabilities. However, when connected to a computer, arguably the main function, this device delivers an unparalleled gaming encounter that is both fast and visually stunning. The OLED screen illuminates colors to an extraordinary extent, and the profound shades of black, previously only visible on smartphones and tablets, amplify the experience to new heights.
The monitor comes securely packaged in Styrofoam and cardboard. Mine shipped quickly and arrived in perfect condition even though it was obvious the box had been dropped or banged against something along the way. Included with the monitor is a foldout Installation Guide, a three page Quick Setup Guide, a one year warranty paper and some other safety and precaution papers. A user manual is not included however there is one available online for download on the Samsung website. Also, the monitor has a built-in e-manual that can be used for instructions and troubleshooting tips. Also included is the power cord, power supply brick, a display to display mini cable and the remote control.
Setting up the monitor was a breeze. You do need to have a Phillips heads screwdriver to attach the base to the arm for the stand, but other than that, everything is included.
The first thing you notice when setting up the monitor is how sleek and premium it looks. The bezel on the top and edge of the monitor is thin with a gradual taper outward toward the middle and bottom, to house the speakers and the Core Lighting. The display has a beautiful glossy screen and the stand is thin and allows space to rest things on it, such as a keyboard when not in use. The overall design is great and looks good from all perspectives.
This monitor comes equipped with a Neo Quantum Processor, optimizing every frame on the OLED panel for maximum quality. Speaking of the OLED panel, it is the first one I’ve owned and it looks just as beautiful as I thought it would. The pure level of black displayed is only comparable to that of smartphones and tablets. It truly is a pitch black without pixel light bleed, granting a new level of color and depth expression while gaming. The only drawback that I’ve experienced so-far is that the whites do not get nearly as white as my other Samsung monitors. I’ve tried adjusting all of the picture settings, power saving options, brightness, picture mode, eye saver, game mode, color tone, etc., and I cannot get the white to be as bright as other monitors. Perhaps they will fix that with a future update. I probably only notice because I have it connected to another monitor with the screen extended and it’s really obvious with the monitors side-by-side.
The Smart Hub and Gaming hubs on this monitor really bring it to a new level, offering all of my favorite apps for streaming movies and tv shows, while also coming with Xbox, GeForce Now and other cloud gaming apps. The monitor can connect to Bluetooth controllers for gaming and controlling the device. I was able to use my old controllers that I purchased for a big name cloud gaming platform that was closed down at the end of last year. Luckily the controllers work for the monitor and pairing them was easy. I actually like controlling the monitor with the gaming controller better than the included remote, partly because I have another Odyssey monitor in the room that also gets controlled by the G8 remote, which became annoying. Also, you can more easily access the picture settings to adjust them while watching movies through apps using the controller versus the remote. And finally, the Bluetooth controller is more responsive and faster. I’ve tried the XBox and GeForce cloud gaming and both of them work great. However none of the games I played with either app allowed me to change the aspect ratio to match the ultrawide format of the screen. I can say the same thing for the majority of the streaming apps, you usually have black bars on the left and right of whatever you are watching. The monitor does offer a “Zoom to Fill '' feature with two levels of zoom, however, unless the source is in the correct aspect ratio, you will lose content beyond the edges of the screen. Although this isn't always the case. Using the Paramout+ app, there are a few shows such as Picard, that fit the full screen perfectly when using the Zoom to Fill feature, without any loss at the edges. I do wonder, and somewhat worry, about how having the majority of content on the middle pixels of the screen will affect how the display wears over time. Will the bars start to become noticeable when viewing fullscreen content in a few years if the majority of my content is in the 16:9 ratio? I’m no expert, so I can’t be certain and only time will tell. On that topic, why isn’t the main menu in the 21:9 aspect ratio of the screen? If Samsung can’t seem to fit their Smart Hub to the 34” screen, how many other content providers will? I hope a future update changes this and allows the user to change the Smart Hub to a larger aspect ratio to take full advantage of the ultra widescreen, seeing more app and game choices.
Speaking of the Smart Hub media and gaming apps, I've only added one additional app at the time I checked, and the storage on the monitor is already almost maxed out at 2.96GB used and only 0.89GB remaining. There are a lot of pre-loaded apps I probably won't use and will remove to free up space.
Finding the correct cable to connect my gaming laptop to the G8 was a bit of a challenge. The monitor comes with a Display to Display mini cable, but my laptop doesn’t have a standard display port, just HDMI and USB C Display. I checked three local department stores along with my local Best Buy and nobody sells an HDMI to HDMI micro cable in the store. That’s something I need to special order for shipping and I still haven't found the one I want to buy. I also had a hard time finding a high quality USB C to USB C display cable, as my second choice, with the proper specs. I ended up buying a two and half foot long Apple thunderbolt cable at Best Buy, in store, because it was the only cable in the store that would solve my problem, it worked and everything looks great. It does provide a small charge to the laptop, but according to the pop-up warning from the computer, the power source isn’t doesn’t provide enough power for long-term and so I reconnected the main power cable to the laptop.
The speakers on the monitor sound great to me. They certainly aren’t soundbar quality sound, but they are better than any other monitor I’ve heard, and they rival most TV set sound as well, especially considering the light weight and slim design of the monitor.
Overall I really really like the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8. It has one of the most beautiful display’s I’ve used and actually is an all-in-one entertainment hub, no computer needed, unless you really want it to sing! With the OLED screen offering rich colors contrasting the deep pure black while gaming on a monitor capable of 175Hz w/ a ultrafast 0.1ms response time, this truly is a new level of play and game immersion when connected to a gaming laptop. Combine that with the cloud gaming, workspace and Smart hub functionality and you really couldn’t ask for much more. Well, aside from those few things I mentioned earlier about the brightness of the white, the aspect ratio of the hubs and the difficulty finding locally available cables to connect to a laptop without standard Display ports.

Not for me. Hurts more than helps.

I’m somebody who works out a few times a week and often has sore muscles and some lower back pain along with other random aches from time to time. I saw this Vertiball and really wanted to give it a try.
The packaging is simple and includes a brief user guide to get you started. Additional information including an instructional video can be found online using the QR code shown in the user guide.
I was immediately impressed with the simplicity of the design and how well it holds to the wall. I really didn’t expect it to hold on as tightly as it does, but it doesn’t budge at all. And, best of all, it doesn’t damage the wall or leave any marks.
Using the Vertiball is a unique experience, and something that takes some getting used to, IMO. I don’t know why they didn’t include a softer ball, but I feel like that would work better. I’ve tried this on both clothed and bare skin and the roller ball is hard and honestly, I feel like it hurts more than it helps. Trying to find a good position is awkward, but luckily the unit is quickly dismounted and remounted to a new spot so that you can try again. But even then, it just doesn’t feel that great, at least not for me. My husband tried it also, and he doesn't seem very impressed.
The portability is great, but I’ll never take this to the gym. Using this in public is a dance I don’t want to do.. lol We might pack it in our luggage when traveling, but probably not.
This might be okay for somebody who cannot reach their sore muscles to massage and rub them themselves and has nobody to help, but honestly, I don’t see myself using this much at all and I can’t recommend it to anyone.

Lightweight, Quiet, Quality, Smooth shave!

I’ve been using my new Philips Norelco shaver for over a week now and I can confidently say that it’s the best shaver I’ve ever used, and I’ve owned more than a few over the years.
The shaver comes very well packaged with a box and packaging that are made from fully recyclable materials. Included in the package are the shaver, USB power source, plug and Qi charging pad. Also included is a click-on precision trimmer attachment, cleaning brush and the travel/storage pouch.
Setting it up is as simple as plugging it in to charge for a little while before your first use. Mine did come with a bit of a charge, but most wireless products recommend a full charge before using, so I allowed my Norelco to fully charge for about 3 hours. According to the user manual, a full charge takes about 3 hours and gives you about 60 minutes of shave time. The minimum charge time is 18 minutes which allows for a single shave. I do love the Qi wireless charging feature, and the fact that it comes with the wireless charging base which I can also use for my phone and any other Qi compliant device that I own. I don’t like that it cannot be charged any other way. Qi wireless, with the included pad only, seems to be the only way to charge this shaver.
Using the shaver is a refreshing experience. The Norelco Prestige shaver glides across my face, neatly trimming and collecting my whiskers while doing an amazing job of not tugging or pulling on any long whiskers. This shaver does the best job of not pulling my longer hairs, than any other shaver I’ve used. I even let my beard grow out to about ¼” -½” and the razor did a nice job of shaving me smooth without pulling one hair! There are the occasional hairs that I need to tease or push up, then shave, to get cut, but that’s always been the case with every shaver I’ve used. Emptying the hair chamber is as simple as a press of the button, with the spring-loaded shaver head quickly flipping up, allowing for you to dump and tap the hair from the chamber, then continue your shave or rinse the head when you're finished shaving. There are 3 shaving speeds to choose from, depending on the sensitivity of your skin. I use the third level, fastest shave, but I’ve been using rotary and foil shavers for a while so I’ve acclimated to using them. Others who may be new to shavers, may want to start on the lowest level.
I love the design and layout of the shaver. It fits ergonomically in my hand while I’m using it and it seems much lighter than other shavers, while feeling durable and well built. The display looks great, while charging and being used. I like that I can see the battery level remaining and I appreciate the notifications that appear when the shaver needs to be cleaned, the head replaced or the battery is low. I also really like that I can long-press the power button for 3 seconds to put the shaver into travel mode, locking it while it’s in my luggage. Speaking of luggage, the travel pouch is nicely made and the shaver, and attachments fit into it well. I do wish they made it so that the Qi charging base would fit also, but it does not.
Overall I love this shaver and it really is the best shave I've ever had from a wireless shaver. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a high-end wireless shaver.

A frozen treat lovers dream come true!
on October 22, 2022
Posted by: Orion
The Ninja Creami Deluxe is one of the coolest Ninja appliances that I now own. I probably shouldn’t admit this, but I eat a lot of ice cream and other frozen treats. I do try to choose a non-dairy, healthier option, when I can. But I also like to treat myself to a milkshake or some good old fashioned dairy ice cream, if I’ve been good at the gym and deserve a reward! With this new Creami Deluxe I’m in total control and can choose what ingredients to use depending on my mood. I get to decide if I want to go the healthy route with a sorbet or lite non-diary ice cream or if I want to indulge myself in a fully loaded Death by Chocolate, chocolate ice cream recipe. With the cost of ice cream and other frozen treats skyrocketing, making my own at home should help me to save money over time. Especially if I use berries, fruit and other ingredients that I can harvest from my yard, garden, and family owned land. And I can get as exotic as I want. Who’s excited to try some Morel mushroom ice cream next spring and maybe some PawPaw sorbet later next fall? I am!
The Creami Deluxe comes well packaged in a cardboard box with cardboard inserts and plastic bags, which can both be recycled. Getting the unit set up is very easy. Just unbox it, unbag a couple parts and find the included quick start guide and the 73 page recipe booklet. Also be sure to read and review the owners guide and safety instructions prior to using anything. You will want to wash/rinse off all the parts to remove any dust or debris from packaging and shipment, just to be safe.
Once everything is unboxed and rinsed off, spend some time reviewing the recipe booklet and decide what to make. All recipes require a base that needs to be prepared and frozen for at least 24 hours. The Creami does not freeze or cool anything itself, it only mixes and creams the ingredients after they have been frozen in your home freezer. This might be a deal breaker for some, but I don’t mind and I’ll probably buy a couple additional Deluxe pints and lids from the Ninja website so that I can have a few bases on hand at all times. According to the recipe booklet most of the bases can be frozen for up to two weeks before using.
The first recipe I tried was the Rocky Road & Double Cookie Ice Cream. Mixing the ingredients for the base is simple. Combine softened cream cheese, cocoa powder, sugar and vanilla, until smooth. Then slowly mix in heavy cream and milk until fully combined and the sugar is dissolved. Freeze the mixture/base for 24 hours. Once frozen, remove the lid, inspect to ensure base has frozen level, and place the deluxe pint, containing the frozen base, in the outer bowl. Attach the Creamerizer Paddle to the outer bowl lid and attach the lid to the outer bowl, placing the outer bowl onto the base unit. From this point you select the program to use and begin processing until the program is complete. I didn’t realize it when I made my shopping list, but this is a recipe for two different ice creams that use the same chocolate base. I already had all the ingredients for both types of ice cream, so I proceeded to make each type from the same base. The Creami Deluxe gives you the option to process the top, full or bottom of the deluxe pint. For this recipe you process the top, remove the pint, dig a hole half way down, add ingredients, process top half only, remove blended ice cream and repeat the process for the bottom half with different added ingredients. It’s a pretty great way for two people to have two different ice creams using one base. You can also choose to freeze and store the bottom half of an unblended base to use later if you want. I don’t know if it’s because of the fresh ingredients, or just because I made it with love, but it really came out tasting fantastic! Both flavors were great, better than any store bought chocolate ice cream that I’ve had, that’s for sure!
The next recipe I tried was the Frozen Chai Latte. For this recipe you only need two ingredients, which I already had. Concentrated chai latte mix and whole milk. The milk can be substituted for any dairy-free alternative if you choose. Making this frozen drink is super easy. Just add the milk and chai to the Drinkable Freeze Line on the deluxe pint, mix it and freeze it. Once frozen add some more chai concentrate as a “pour-in” to the Drinkable Pour-In line, and mix using the Full setting and the Creamiccino function. The drink came out smooth and delicious, so great that I immediately mixed up another one to freeze for the next day.
Clean up is fast and easy. There are only four parts that need washed and they are all top-rack dishwasher safe. The unit itself doesn’t get messy at all, unless there is a spill or sticky fingers pressing buttons, but even that should clean up easily.
I’m so happy that I got this new Ninja Creami Deluxe and I can’t wait to show it off to friends and family over the holidays. I sense home made eggnog milkshakes and peppermint candy cane ice cream in my very near future. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys frozen treats and frozen mixed drinks. Just be prepared to wait 24 hours, which isn’t too bad if you plan ahead for yourself your family or any parties or events where you might like to use it.

A camera that does it all, and does it well!
on October 16, 2022
Posted by: Orion
I have been using the new mirrorless Nikon Z30 for just over a week and have fallen in love with photography again! I am an armature photographer, having been out of the game for many years, who is just now delving into the world of vlogging and content creation for some of my social media groups and channels. I like to collect things and I love to share photos of the items I collect. From the start, the Nikon Z30 has been an amazing camera for a newly emerging content creator such as myself. From shooting photos at 11fps to recording 4k at 30fps, this is an extremely powerful camera and tool to have in the vlogging world, especially with the highly useful Nikon SnapBridge app.
One of the first features I really liked is the VR, aka Vibration Reduction, which, in combination with slower shutter speeds your images will come out sharp and clear without motion blur. The CMOS sensor combined with the Exspeed 6 processing engine dramatically help produce high quality photos in very low light conditions. Even some astrophotography, such as pictures of the moon, when using the right settings, comes out looking really great!
The creators accessory kit for the Z30 comes with a mini boom mic, tripod grip and remote. The remote fits perfectly in the handle of the tripod/ selfie stick, which I love. I recommend using the boom mic when outdoors where wind might cause some unwanted noise interruption. Otherwise, the mic on the camera itself is fantastic and easily isolates sounds closer to the device. The tripod/handle makes handling the camera solo much easier when taking video, especially with the rotating LCD monitor. And with the remote a solo act is all you need to produce high quality film and photography.
The Auto Focus on the Z30 is great! The eye detection on people and pets is really unique and accurate. I was very surprised at how quickly the camera picked up eyes in the shot and adjusted everything including a slight blur in the background. The quality of the Auto Focus makes capturing photos quick and easy at a time when timing is everything.
The 4k video capture on the Z30 is very sharp and has great detail, even in low light situations. There is a separate button for video recording and during recording there is an indicator light on the front letting you know the camera is rolling, which is always appreciated. I also like the red light because it lets others in public know to be courteous when walking by.
Overall I love this camera. It’s helped to bring out the photographer in me, who I thought I lost years ago. I do have some major brushing up to do, as this camera is much more advanced than what I used to use in High School many years ago. But with the help of the Nikon School online and the free 30+ minute training video I received when purchasing this camera, I’m picking it all back up pretty quickly and can’t wait to take this baby on vacation somewhere beautiful! I highly recommend this camera and the content creators kit to anyone who vlogs, owns a website or shares their content on social media sites, groups and channels.

Instant pain relief for my lower back.
on October 15, 2022
Posted by: Orion
This is my first time using a muscle therapy device like this and I was impressed almost instantly with the support and compression it provides to your back. I stay very active and often have persistent lower back pain, so this was a game changer for me. The portability of the Venom 2 makes everything so much easier instead of having to stay stationary in a massage chair. I can actually move around, go shopping, even work, while I’m wearing the brace.
The first time I wore the Hyperice Venom 2 I had already been having issues with a small back injury that flared up earlier that week, so it was perfect timing. Starting with the download of the Hyperice App, which connects via Bluetooth, you can control the vibration intensity and rhythm, as well as a three tier heat option. The wrap allows you to wear it as tight as you want which gives me fantastic support without shifting as I move. Feel free to wear it sitting down, walking around the house or even to the gym, it stays in place very well, regardless of your activity.
When you open the box you’ll find the venom 2, three interchangeable options for power plugs so you can use it outside of the US and a user guide. The setup is very quick and the unit itself had enough power out of the box to try out for about half an hour. The timer comes stock at fifteen minutes but you can change that in the app. I myself prefer heat and vibration for fifteen minutes and heat alone for another fifteen. The Bluetooth connection is lightning fast once you open the app which makes using it that much easier to operate.
The battery life is two and a half hours, so you can get quite a few sessions before needing to be recharged. The heat function works very well and warms up quickly. When set to tier three, I would recommend keeping it off of bare skin, as it can get really warm. There are three different vibration rhythm options but no intensity option and after using it for a few days I find that I enjoy the constant vibration more than the pulsing options. Once on, worn comfortably tight and with the heat and vibration activated, the Hyperice Venom 2 provides almost instant relief wherever applied.
There are a few things I’d like to see in the next model. I would like more intense vibration to penetrate deeper into my muscles, the current vibration is great but I do believe you could benefit from a little more power, if that possible. I like the shape of the wrap but if it could be designed to cover a little more of the tailbone. Although that might make it less versatile, so maybe not. But IMO, I feel like it would make a big difference, almost like a rounded V shape in the back. One last thing I would like is a bit more stiffness on the back and sides of the unit, as to not allow my spine to curve where I’m trying to keep it supported.
Overall I love this product! I like to keep moving so I love the mobility, battery life, great heat intensity and support. I think you could even call this a good upgrade to a back brace if it had stiffer material. Forget massage mats you lay over chairs, the venom 2 is where it’s at and I recommend it to anyone seeking instance pain relief to be used as needed.

Comfort and Clean Air!
on October 9, 2022
Posted by: Orion
With winter quickly approaching, this new Shark 3 in 1 Air Purifier with Purified Heat is exactly what I need to get me through those cold winter nights and mornings. And now, I don’t have to worry about running a separate air purifier, this new Shark does both jobs at the same time, saving me space and money! I get to have my cake and eat it too!
The air purifier comes well packaged in cardboard and plastic bags that can be recycled. Recyclable packaging is always appreciated since it keeps waste out of the landfills and saves me a trash bag.
The purifier comes fully assembled with the filter inside the unit, within a plastic bag. Be sure to remove the plastic bag from the filter or it won’t work. Shark makes this pretty obvious with a couple different indicators on the unit and in the set up guide. Once you get the filter reinstalled, replace the filter cover and place the unit somewhere where it will be at least three feet from any walls or furnishings.
Once you turn the filter on it will begin to analyze the air quality, indicated by rotating lights on the front. It takes a few seconds and then the current air quality and air temperature are displayed. You can also access your real time air quality information by pressing the info button on the remote. From there you can see the PM1, PM2.5, PM10, Filter Life and more. Once ready, you can begin using the remote to customize your settings. Keep in mind that there is a knob on the side of the unit that must be manually toggled forward and backward to select between the three available modes. This cannot be changed using the remote. Rotating the knob forward allows for the Purified Fan and Purified Heat features to be used, while backward activities the Purified Air mode. Another thing to keep in mind is that while all three modes do purify the air, the Purified Air mode does so without the fan blowing forward and it does a more efficient job cleaning the air in this mode when run with Auto turned on. The Auto function allows the filter to automatically adjust the fan speed and purification power based on the air quality of the room.
I’ve been using this new Shark 3 in 1 for a few days now and am more than happy with the level of purification it provides and the heat has been great as winter approaches. It’s been sitting in my office for now, since I spend eight hours a day in there, and recently it’s been pretty cold in the mornings. The air in my office has never been more fresh! I use the heater in the morning, while it’s chilly, then around noon I’ll switch to the Air Purifier mode and change it to Auto. The Auto function really does a great job keeping the air at 100%, according to the readout on the display. I have noticed that the air quality readout works incredibly well. It drops down pretty quickly when the unit detects smoke, aerosols, fragrance, and yes, flatulence set’s it off! It will go from silent to near full speed fan if somebody passes gas, rapidly clearing the air of the offending odor! I love it. Haha. Another great feature has been the fan. Although the mornings have been cold, we did have a warm evening recently and the fan helped to keep me cool while working. This is nice for me, because it can get warm in my office in the summer time with the extra computers and other electronic equipment. I also really like that the fan oscillates, distributing air throughout the room as it works to clean and cool/heat.
The remote controls everything on the air filter other than the mode selection, and the front air vents, which manually tilt up and down to adjust the airflow. It would be nice if the remote did it all, but that would probably increase the cost substantially. And I’m okay with having to get up and change the mode from time to time, so it’s no big deal. Another small critique would be that you need the remote to control the air filter. The only button on the unit is the power button, beyond that, the remote docks on the top to be used as the buttons for the unit. But I worry about families that might break or lose their remote, also losing control of the air filter until a replacement is purchased. Probably nothing I need to worry about but something I wanted to mention.
The filter life will depend on your environment and if you have a smoker in the house. Flip the filter every three months to extend the life. Doing so will equalize the balance and distribution of captured particles throughout the filter, allowing for extended use. The filter cannot be cleaned or recycled and needs to be replaced when the unit tells you that the filter life is low. This can be checked using the info button on the remote. Replacement filters are found on Shark’s website.
I’m really happy I got this new Shark 3 in 1 Air Purifier for my home and home office. It’s really been a great addition and helps to keep me healthy by breathing fresh clean air and comfortable by warming or cooling me depending on the time of year. I highly recommend this to anyone who uses both a heater and air filter during the winter or a fan and air filter during the summer.
I would recommend this to a friend!

So lightweight and No More Dustclouds!

I’ve been excited to try this new self-emptying vacuum by Shark from the moment I saw it was released. As far as I can tell, self-emptying vacuum tech has been on the market in the robot vacuum family for many years, but it’s just now starting to make its way to the handheld and upright vacuum family. I know Shark makes a great vacuum and I’ve never been disappointed with their products, so as soon as I saw this new self-emptying Wandvac by Shark, I got it!
The vacuum arrived safely packaged in a mid sized shipping box, containing the product box. The box is cardboard and so are all of the inserts, along with some poly bags, which is great if you like to recycle your product packaging like I do.
The Wandvac Self-Empty System comes with everything you need to get started including the Owner’s Guide and a helpful Quick Start Guide. Once you get the parts unpackaged you simply click them together, plug-in the docking station, dock the Wandvac and wait for it to charge. There are only five main parts, along with a couple cleaning tools. The filters and battery are already in place. The Hand Vacuum clicks into the wand which clicks into the floor nozzle. The docking station is mostly assembled, though there is a post to slide and click into place. All together unboxing and setup only takes five minutes. My unit did come with a charge already, but I prefer to fully charge electronics with batteries before I use them for the first time. I did not time it, but the battery does seem to charge quickly.
I’ve been using this vacuum for about a week now and it has been convenient to have available. It’s definitely not my go-to vacuum for a deep clean of my rugs and carpeting, however it’s nice to have around for daily messes and little cleaning odd-jobs that pop up from time to time. When the dogs track in some dirt/debris from outside or when I notice dust/hair building up in the corners and along the edges of the floor. A cobweb hanging from the ceiling or maybe a spider crawling across the couch! Whatever the situation, this vacuum is quick to tackle the challenge. And best of all, you don’t have to worry about a cloud of dust when you empty the bin. Just dock the vacuum, and within seconds it sucks out the dirt you’ve collected and stores it in the main dustbin until you’re ready to empty it.
I own a couple other Shark vacuums, both corded and cordless. Compared to those, this vacuum has the weakest suction. That being said, Shark vacuums typically have powerful suction with my cordless Shark vacuum having the strongest I’ve ever owned. Although the suction may not be the best that I’ve ever used, it is more than adequate for most jobs and probably an ideal match for the dust bin size, which is quite small. This vacuum won’t pull up dust and grime from two years ago, but it will grab all the dust and debris scattered about the surface of your flooring.
Even though the dust bin on the hand vacuum is small, it doesn’t seem to fill up too quickly. Probably because of the low suction. If it does get too full, you can either dump it manually by pressing a release button over the trash can, or you can dock it and let the unit self-clean, which only takes a few seconds. Then you can pick it back up and continue your cleaning job. The main dust bin, part of the docking station, is much larger and can accommodate many cleaning jobs worth of debris before you need to empty it. Once it is time to empty the main bin, doing so is very simple. Press the release button with your thumb and using the hand grove on the back, slide the bin out. Once over the trash can, another button can be pressed to release the door, allowing the debris to fall into the trash using gravity! It falls out without me having to touch anything, which is ideal.
This vacuum is very lightweight and extremely easy to hold and use. It might actually be the lightest vacuum I’ve ever used, especially when only using the hand vacuum section. Even though it’s lightweight, the parts and construction are all very solid and appear to be very well-built, as most Shark products usually are, from my experience.
The main floor nozzle works great and I love the Powerfins technology. Powerfins rollers from Shark are the best because they don’t get tangled up with pet hair and other long fibers like traditional brush only rollers. I also like that I can attach the floor nozzle directly to the hand vacuum to easily clean my carpeted staircase steps without the extra length from the wand.
All of the filters can and should be cleaned regularly. There is one in the hand vacuum and there are two in the base. Just take them out, wash them with cold water and allow them to fully dry for 24 hours. A tip from me, to get them extra clean, is to let them dry in the full sun if you have that option. This helps to kill germs. Another tip from me is to put them in the freezer for a day after fully drying. I do this every few months to help kill germs.
The Shark Wandvac Self-Empty System comes with a five year limited warranty that covers non-wearable components deemed to be defective. And it also comes with a two year limited battery warranty, covering defective batteries for up to two years. You do have to pay $20 shipping, but that’s acceptable. I appreciate these warranties, especially the battery warranty, as these can go bad sometimes.
Overall I really like this vacuum and enjoy the extra convenience it has added to my household. I like being able to grab it for a quick mess and not have to worry about emptying the bin when I’m done cleaning. I really like how light it is and the wand attachment along with the Duster Crevice tool that help me to reach almost any spot in my house to give it a quick cleanup. I like that I can take it to my car for a quick vacuum of my rugs and interior without the bulk of a traditional corded vacuum cleaner. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a secondary vacuum for their home or office that’s lightweight, easy to use and cleans itself.
I would recommend this to a friend!

For those looking for the best in the latest television technologies, the U8H should be a top contender. The most exciting 2022 upgrade is Mini-LED. With Mini-LEDs that are 50x smaller than traditional LED lights, local dimming and contrast control reproduce incredible black and white levels within the same scene like never before in the series. The U8H is now compatible with the Wifi 6e router protocol. Streaming from the wide selection of Google TV apps is now easier and smoother when connected to a dedicated router channel that won’t be competing with other connected devices on the same router. For gamers, the U8H now comes equipped with Dolby Vision Gaming and FreeSync Premium Pro for enhanced gaming picture contrast and even smoother, tear-free motion. And lastly, the U8H now comes with a 2-year warranty and is available in a 75” screen size. 2021 was a huge year for the Hisense U8H series and with so many upgrades, 2022 looks to be just as promising.

Big, fast, great contrast and SUPER Bright!

This is my new favorite TV! The Hisense U8H 75” really has everything the average consumer could ever want from a new television. It’s big, displays vibrant colors with bold contrast and is literally the brightest TV I’ve ever owned. Best of all, it’s priced much lower than I would expect for a TV of this caliber. It’s almost as if they priced it this low, daring consumers to give it a try, because they are confident you will love it and become a Hisense fan going forward. Well, that’s good marketing, because it’s working for me as I’m now curious to try other Hisense products.
The U8H 75” was delivered using a contracted delivery person through Pegasus Logistics. The driver called me when he was in my neighborhood and I met him in the driveway so that he could drop the TV off into my garage, since I was the only person home at the time. The box is large and heavy, weighing approximately 118 pounds. It was shrink-wrapped and secured to a wooden pallet, which the driver left with me to dispose of or reuse.
The Hisense U8H 75” is very well packaged with foam all around it and a thick heavy cardboard cover over the screen. The box I received was dented on the outside corner, but the packaging worked well to protect the TV and it was undamaged. Unboxing the TV is easy but does require two people to lift it out from the foam inserts and attach the base stands and/or the wall mount. Keep in mind that the TV does weigh approximately 82 pounds as your stand will need to support this weight.
If you are using a wall mount make sure it’s rated to support that weight and VESA 600mm x 400mm with M8 mounting screws. The TV does not include the mounting screws and I only had the M6 size, from my previously mounted TV, so I had to buy some screws at the local department store. I actually found a TV mounting hardware kit that had the M8 mounting screws along with spacers and anything else you need, for only $5!
Once I had the TV mounted and all of my external devices connected, I was ready to get it set up and start watching content! Setting it up did take a little longer than I expected, selecting preferences, connecting WIFI and Google accounts, downloading apps, etc., but that’s a one-time task, and something that really helps to give your TV a personalized touch. In-fact , I learned that this TV can support multiple user log-in’s, using Google accounts. So different household members can have the home screen and settings customized for each of their accounts.
I really like the home screen setup and navigation on this TV. It’s very intuitive and as I said before, feels very customized based on my apps, content, and usage. I love that it learns what content I enjoy and scans my apps for related content then presents viewing options to me in an organized layout that I can browse when I am looking for something new to watch. It’s much easier than going into each app and looking for content, I really like it! One thing to note is that you do not have to opt into this personalization and/or Google account. You can set this up as a basic TV if you are concerned about protecting your personal data.
The display on this TV is amazing! The color and contrast, with the new Quantum ULED technology on a 75” VA panel combined with how incredibly bright it can get, really works well giving viewers an eye opening beautiful IMAX like experience when watching movies. This TV has the best picture I’ve ever had on a TV, to date. Getting the picture set up fine-tuned to where I like it, for each source, does take some time to become familiar with all of the features, what they do, and how it looks, but again, it’s time well spent. Once you set up a source, the television remembers that set up, for the most part, depending on the content being shown from that source. I have noticed if it’s Dolby Vision, my picture options will change and I can only select from the Dolby options, it no longer offers options such as Filmmaker Mode, Standard, Vivid, etc. The Dolby for the most part looks great, but there have been times where I wanted to tweak the settings because it looks a little washed out and/or dark/bright. However when Dolby content is being displayed all of the other picture options are locked for some reason.
Gaming on this television is immersive and looks great! The 4k HDR 120Hz really gives you an amazing gaming experience with really fast response time, beautiful color, and sharp detail. The size and Dolby Sound bring it all together to make this a huge gaming theater experience.
Overall I really love this TV. I’m so impressed with Hisense for producing a high-end television at a bargain price when it’s on sale. If you are looking for a new TV, and are tired of TV’s that don’t get bright enough, don’t have enough contrast and don’t game fast enough, without costing an arm and a leg, look no further than the Hisense U8H 75”, you will not be disappointed at all.

The ultimate immersive gaming theater experience!

This is an amazing monitor, something that I’ve been dreaming about for many years, and finally, the future of TV’s and monitors is here! A monitor that can display multiple content sources, arranged in little content box’s that can be resized and rearranged on the massive 55” curved screen.
They call this thing a monitor, because it does far exceed all the desired specs for a high-end gaming monitor, but let’s be honest, at this size it’s a highly functional television that comes with a super heavy stand so that it can be easily rotated to a vertical display.
When I say heavy, I mean it. I can tell you that the shipping box weighs 122lbs according to the packing slip, so be ready for that. And the monitor with the stand weighs 92lbs, so make sure you have a table or desk that can support that weight. I use a hand built, sturdy solid wood compact kitchen table as my desk, and it supports the weight just fine. But lower quality desks might collapse under this weight. I can’t figure out what the display weighs by itself, without the stand, for mounting purposes, but I’m guessing it’s much less, because the stand is a beast! You’ll have to email support or do your research to find out. Because of the weight, you will need two people to move the monitor around, per the included installation guide. You will also need to carry and hold it, in a specific way, shown by a diagram in the installation guide, to protect the monitor while moving it.
Unpacking the monitor and getting it set up does require two people and will take about an hour. You need to pay special attention to the Installation Guide steps. On step eighteen, after moving the monitor to the desk, the guide instructs you to rotate the monitor to horizontal. I either didn't understand the icons on the step, or just got it wrong, but I’m pretty sure I broke the locking mechanism that locks the monitor into a portrait or landscape position. I didn’t raise it up a few inches before rotating and heard a grinding/clicking noise as it rotated. I actually had to contact support to request a user manual, which did not come with the unit, to find out that it was supposed to lock when put into position. Mine no longer locks, but seems to sit level just fine.
The screen on this monitor is epic! With a brilliantly lit 10000 nits bright 4k display, 1000R curved screen, 1ms response time with HDMI 2.1, Quantum Mini-LED and so much more, (see the product specs). This is the most impressive, top of the line gaming monitor I’ve ever used, and I expect it to hold that title for a long time. This thing is going to be hard to beat, though the competitors are trying their best, Samsung really gives it all to you with this display making your content, video, gaming and viewing experiences come to life unlike other displays. The contrast from the Quantum Mini-LED is OLED-like IMO, and is a huge step up from traditional LED.
There is no display port, which surprised me, but it makes up for that by including four super fast HDMI 2.1 ports which can handle next generation consoles at 4K/120Hz, and PC gaming at even faster refresh rates. In my experience, this has been a huge upgrade and all my games look absolutely amazing, regardless of the source. Xbox, Switch, PC, Samsung Gaming Hub, Stadia. I’ve tried them all and they are all fast, responsive and look beautiful! All four ports also support variable refresh with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro on board for PC players.
I was excited to use the multi-screen feature on this display, something I’ve been wanting since I was a kid and another wish list item checked off. However it’s only a partial check because although it does display up to four content sources at once, only one of those can be from the connected One Connect HDMI hub. The other three have to be a combination of apps and widgets or screen mirroring/shared desktop. And not all apps, only a few of the preselected built-in apps. This might change as the unit receives updates, but I can’t be certain. You can display a PC, YouTube, an internet browser and the time/weather, things like that. You can also put the monitor into vertical mode and show up to three sources, stacked. It’s a really awesome way to view content and stream live, but you’ll want to put something “secondary” on that top slot, something you only glance at, otherwise you will get a stiff neck trying to watch it. The content on screen can be moved around and resized quickly and easily using the Ark Dial. I will admit, it does take some practice navigating the different content sources and selecting your balance between up to two audio sources, but once you get it, it’s not that complicated really.
This monitor features a built-in, six speaker Dolby Atmos surround sound system featuring a speaker in each corner and two subs in the middle, creating a sound dome that you can hear and feel. You really can hear the sound dome effect, which seems to have a passive component created by the curved screen. Just sitting in front of the monitor and talking creates a noticeable sound effect that you can hear. The sound is very impressive, with a nice range and clarity. The monitor includes a sound boost feature that makes it even more rich and booming!
I love being able to easily adjust all of the screen and picture settings quickly using either of the remotes. Having the option to go from a 16:9 ratio to a 32:9 ratio, depending on the game you are playing, is really cool and can be a huge benefit when playing a strategy game where I want to see more of the map. I’ve also enjoyed playing games at 9:16 ratio with the monitor rotated to the portrait position. I couldn’t find that many games that play well in this perspective, but the few I tried, FPS, were really cool. I’ve also watched some 4K vertical film on YouTube and I was blown away! The screen clarity, brightness, contrast and color in combination with the unique perspective brought to you by the vertical film create a truly unique viewing experience. I want to find a full length vertical movie now!
The monitor comes preloaded with a bunch of apps Like Xbox and Stadia apps, and app suggestions along with Samsung TV and the Samsung Gaming Hub that allows you to stream games without downloading them. I’ve never used Samsung TV until now, but it’s a collection of hundreds of free TV channels, which is a huge added bonus! The monitor does connect to most gaming remotes, that you can use for gaming and controlling the monitor. It also comes with a uniquely designed “Ark Dial” remote and a traditional Samsung TV style remote control. Both remotes are USB-C rechargeable and feature a solar panel to increase time between charging. Another wish list item checked off. I actually haven’t charged either one with the charging cable yet, just solar and that seems to be fine. The Ark Dial remote can be held but is designed to sit on a surface to be used. It does take some getting used to, but once you learn the icons/button functions, you’ll pick it up in no time. There are a ton of features on this monitor/TV. From the multi-screen option, to picture settings, all sorts of contrast, brightness, and picture adjusting AI/programs to turn on/off and so much more. Learning the features and getting this thing set up to the sweet spot you want, is going to take some time, but is well worth the effort.
Not only have I been using this monitor for gaming and watching movies, I’ve also set it up to be my work monitor, since I work from home. I know what you're thinking, “he must get no work done”, but you're wrong. I actually am getting more done, being able to display my computer as five screens, one in each corner, with my task at hand in the middle. I don’t use the multi-screen when working, but it would be helpful if I had to remote connect to a separate computer at the office. The monitor comes with some great eye-saver settings, which I thought I wouldn’t use, but with the size and brightness of this screen, I decided it was a good idea. I have the eye saver set to max, which makes all the white space a pinkish hue, but it really does save my eyes and I feel less strain at the end of the day than when I was using three screens. I LOVE having this as a work monitor. The only problem is that now I never leave my home office. I can go from working to gaming to watching a 4k movie, all on one screen. LOL
The spectacular screen specs of the Samsung Odyssey Ark along with the immersive sound dome technology and the ability to show multiple content sources on the display, make this the most advanced personal gaming theater ever created. The price tag is steep, so I cannot recommend it to everyone, but if you have the money to spend and want to step into a fully immersive gaming theatre experience, this is the monitor for you!

Amazing Phone
By bzm3j81 from Detroit, MI
First and foremost, this phone is amazing. Performance and quality exceed my expectations from Google.
Pro’s:
- Build Quality
- Phone Performance
- Google Assist
- Unlimited photo storage
- Battery life
- Camera!
Con’s:
- Cost
- Lack of some “flagship” features (i.e. IP67 rating, wireless charging, removable storage)
Build quality: This phone is solid in your hand from the moment you pick it up. The aluminum body feels solid and the phone has enough weight behind it to sit comfortably in your hand. I was concerned about the glass portion of the back panel, as I cringed every time I put the phone down on a solid surface, but it has endured very well so far and beyond adding a little flair it helps to quickly identify the top from bottom of the phone as I bring it out of my pocket. The front screen is probably the best screen I have ever used on a smart phone, colors are vibrant, the blacks are deep, and I would put it up against any screen that Apple or Samsung produce. It would really be nice if this was IP 67 rated for water resistance and dust resistance.
Performance: The new Qualcomm 821 processor doesn’t seem leaps and bounds above the older 820 model, but there are times where it is noticeable. Transitions are smooth, scrolling is faster and more responsive, and the phone overall just seems more fluid. The finger print reader is very quick. The camera does load faster than my old phone, but isn’t instant.
Software: The new launcher is very smooth. Took a little bit of time to get used to the “pull up” for the app drawer, but it seems much more natural than the old app drawer button. The Google assistant is nice, but seems to be a slightly more powerful Google now… I expect this will get better over time, but right now seems to be a little basic. Verizon did a great job with the phone’s “bloatware”. I haven’t “noticed” the applications and it seems that they can be uninstalled if I want to. (good job guys). Everything seems to work really well, and the 3D touch is really nice for the applications it works with right now (mostly google apps) but as with most of the software, it will just get better with time.
Camera: This is hands down the best camera I have ever used on a phone. I was worried about the lack of OIS (optical image stabilization) but after seeing how well the EIS performs, it really isn’t a concern anymore. Photos look amazing, the stabilization is awesome, and the HDR+ mode is so fast, I do not even know it’s on. Combined with the unlimited Google photos storage, I really don’t mind the 32GB storage size. Low light photos are amazing and the autofocus is fast. Colors look amazing. I really can’t say enough about this thing. I do wish it had OIS to cover those situations where EIS struggles (lose some details in low light with HDR+ and shaky hands) but I do not think it’s needed overall.
Battery: bottom line, rock solid. I run my phones hard, and normally have to charge them in the car to and from work. (sometimes even at work). But no issues with this Pixel XL. The Qualcomm 821 processor combined with the OLED screen seem to have really helped battery life out. I am looking at 18 hours of life today alone and that’s with about 7 hours of screen time on.)
If you are in the market for a phone, and you have the money, this phone will not disappoint.

3D Touch?

I've read that it does not have a pressure sensitive screen, so no 3D touch. Not sure what your referring to, haptic touch?

Grill and brown food to tasty perfection all-year-round with virtually no smoke thanks to the Philips Smoke-less Indoor BBQ Grill. Advanced infrared technology and special reflectors guide heat to the grid for delicious, evenly grilled food. The drip tray underneath remains cool so there is up to 80% less smoke and minimal splattering when cooking.

did it char like an outdoor grill? Thinking about getting this since we can no longer have outdoor grills in our complex.

No, it does not. The chicken I cooked took about 22 minutes and had no burned/chared areas at all. It's still a great grill, you just have to get used to the non open flame taste for some things.

When is this going to be available to order? Keeps on saying sold out online

I was able to snag one Open-Box online, and it was delivered the next day. I tried like 20 times and finally was able to get one. I just kept checking the site like every hour and adding it to my cart and trying to check out, lol. Persistence pays. :) The unit I received still had all the plastic wrap and my guess is that whoever owned it before me only had it to review it. Keep tyring!!
