Comfortable and stylish.

I am 66 years old and have never worn a wristwatch but was intrigues about the opportunity to monitor my activity. I was very apprehensive about how I would adjust to wearing this, but I found the watch to be very comfortable from day 1 – even after wearing it all day.
Overall, I found the watch to be easy to live with, providing good health monitoring with prompt alerts as well as good battery life (around 48 hrs. set to normal with saver starting at 10%) and would recommend it. But if choosing again I would probably go with a larger face – these old eyes had trouble reading some of the screens.
Unpacking it was easy and charged it using its propriety interface which attaches to back of the watch. This was kind of disappointing but understandable that a more universal USB interface could not be incorporated given watches size.
Adjusting the band was initially confusing until I searched for an answer. You can take to a jeweler, or you can remove the links by using a small, pointed tool and pushing out the “pins” – but one end is larger (the one with the split) so you want to push the other end – there are also arrows in the links indicating which way to push. There is also an adjustment in the clasp – again using a small, pointed tool – but be careful as this pin is under pressure and can fly out.
Instructions had a QR code which led to downloading Citizen app. This walked you through synching watch and phone. Initially the setup worked fine but after 2 days the app could no longer synch with the phone. I tried multiple times to resynch (removing from Bluetooth, restarting phone and watch, etc. Each time indicating it was synched, but app still could not find the phone. I had to reset the phone then add it as new to the app – it has worked fine since then).
The watch is thoughtfully designed and seems sturdily built. Using app- you have several face and screen options to allow for personalization.
Swiping up or down from the main face allows you to access other functions. Down presents a set of options not unlike a phone would. Settings, plane mode, etc. Swiping up presents you with a screen you can customize for different functions.
The app keeps track of your steps, calories, heart rate, etc. on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. It also has options to inform you about the watch, sign up for offers, app news, Instagram, my preferences, have a question, Alexa (don’t use), configure tiles (face), new arrival, set up notifications.
Can make phone calls (again a function I won’t use) – but it is nice to receive an alert if you have a phone call.
There is a lot to absorb and learn about this watch, especially in just a few days. I look forward to learning more about its operation and uses. Good so far and recommend.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Large coverage and ready for the future
on June 7, 2023
Posted by: mkcar1
The Deco BE85 BE22000 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 7 System (3-Pack) units supports Wi-Fi 4 (theoretical speeds up to 600mbps), 5 & 6 (theoretical speeds up to 8640 Mbps on 5GHz Band, and 1376 Mbps on 2.4 GHz Band with max 160MHz bandwidth) and the newly, almost approved 7 (theoretical speeds up to 11520 Mbps).
Each unit has 2 cooling fans to help with thermal loads and 8 high gain antennas, 12 high power FEMs and Quad-core CPU. There was no noticeable sound from the unit.
It seems each unit can operate as a base or satellite, allowing for multiple set-ups. Each has 2 - 2.5 Gbps Wan/Lan, 1 – 10 Gbps Wan/Lan, 1 10Gbps + SFP (fiber optic connection) combo and 1 – USB 3.0 connection. Wireless or wired backhaul. IPV6 compatible. Security is WPA3, TP-Link Home Shield Pro (extra cost after 1 month free). Wi-fi 7 allows for MLO (Multi-link Operation), 3 channels at 320Mhz broadband, 4-K QAM, Multi-RU and MU-MIMO. Each band supports 4 streams and supports beamforming. Each unit is 9.29 inches tall and 5.04 inches wide – and is hefty at almost 13 lbs. Specs indicate it supports up to 3 satellites, since it comes with three it is unclear if that means you can add 1 more or not. Can have up to 200 connections total – I have at least 35 connected at any one time and up to 50 with no issues.
If you want the system can take care of itself – but you can dig into the settings if needed. Suffice to say that this system has you covered literally (techwise) and figuratively (9000 sq ft. of coverage). I have installed several base and mesh Wi-Fi systems over the years, and this is by far the easiest to install and has the widest coverage and fastest speeds.
The system comes nicely packaged with each unit having a power cable (with in-line brick), one RJ45 ethernet cable and a very small quick installation guide (I was reaching for my most powerful reading glasses). Using QR code provided in guide I installed app on my android phone and followed screen prompts. The Wi-fi 7 connection requires a different name – it took my Wi-Fi 6 name and added _6GHz. Adding satellites was as easy as plugging in and waiting a minute or 2 for each to be recognized - that was it. I really like that the power/connection indicator is at the bottom of the unit (pulse yellow it is resetting, pulse blue it is ready for setup, solid blue deco is setting up, pulse green it is updating firmware, solid green means good to go, pulse red it is disconnected, solid red – it has “issues”). Others mesh units I have used have had indicators on top – so if unit was placed high it was hard to see. One word of advice if replacing an existing Wi-Fi – make sure you document the name of the existing network and password exactly! Use the same when installing new network and all devices should reconnect themselves – saves a lot of time and make sure you check for firmware updates.
The app itself is nicely designed where you can see what devices are connected to what base or satellite(s) access wi-fi settings, test internet speed, name each device, select which band a device should connect with or auto, etc. Provides a weekly report for devices added and parental controls (if using). It also provides a scan of the network checking touter and wireless security.
It does not appear there is any way to do any remote administration using computer or browser interfaces. Which is very disappointing.
While the system allows for blazing speeds – it can’t provide any faster speed than you are paying for from your internet provider - currently I have 300 down and 30 up. Using wired connection my desktop reached 330 and 31. Using Wi-Fi 6, on my phone, I had same speeds 5 feet from base. Where this mesh system shines is I now get same 330 and 31 speeds everywhere in the house and in the front or back yards. Now that I have this type of coverage, I am considering upgrading my speed – a “hidden cost” as I now want to have the fastest speed I can get!
There are only 1 or 2 devices available that can use Wi-fi 7 (802.11be) – so could not test that. But in researching it seems it will be 13x faster than Wi-fi 5 and almost 5 x faster than Wi-fi 6.
Comes with free base Home Shield security but can upgrade to Pro with monthly/yearly fee. I don’t need the extra functions Pro can provide.
If you work from home, make video calls, stream 4k, view the internet, access email, update computers (which seem constant), etc. and need to do all at the same time – this will handle it no problem.
2-year warranty.
While the cost of unit(s) is rather high, Wi-fi 7 connection requires a different name (might be combined in future updates?) and only phone app administration is currently available - are concerns to be sure. But if you consider each can be used as a base or any combination together for mesh system, the ease of installation, speed, etc. – I think it is well worth it – and highly recommend.

Power in small package
on June 5, 2023
Posted by: mkcar1
This 2 in 1 laptop strikes a nice balance between size (14” screen) and weight (3.5 lbs). It is a well-constructed 2 in 1 with silver aluminum clam “case” and sturdy hinges. If you want a sleek, fairly light unit that will travel nicely and can handle business apps, video streaming and some gaming - this is worth a look and would recommend.
It was nicely packaged and easy to set up. Plug it in, start it up and Windows walks you through the setup process. No real “bloat” software to get rid of. On/off fingerprint reader works well and was easy to set up.
14-inch 1920 x 1200 60Hz (WUXGA) FHD + IPS touchscreen, 250 nits screen is a step up from normal 1920 x 1080. I found the touchscreen to be very responsive. The screen was much brighter than I had expected and enjoyed watching movies but is a bit reflective - adjusting the angle does help. 16:10 screen ratio leaves a rather large unused area at bottom.
Intel 13th generation i7-1355U. In researching it seems it has a total of 10 cores and 12 threads. 2 cores and 4 threads operating at 1.70GHz with Turbo Boost of 5.00 GHz are used for performance. 8 cores and 8 threads operating at 1.2GHz with Turbo Boost of 3.7 GHz are used for efficiency. Cache is L1: 160 KB, L2: 2.5 MB, L3: 12 MB. Meaning it should handle almost anything you throw at it with no problem multitasking, Apps opening quickly, etc.
Intel Iris Xe Graphics does support HDR – but only if streaming. I don’t do much gaming anymore so I can’t speak directly to how it might work – but it should handle lower to mid-level games not requiring high level graphics.
16GB LPDDR5 memory – could not find response or number of slots, but it appears too not be upgradeable.
KIOXIA KBG50ZNS1T01 1TB PCIe 4 x4 NVMe M.2 2230 SSD. Allows for fast booting – but I disable anything not necessary during startup using task manager.
Intel 6E (802.11ax) AX211AC 160MHz Wireless and Bluetooth. No ethernet hardwire option.
Dolby Atmos up-firing speakers on either side of keyboard. This purport’s to provide 3D sound for movies, music and games. I could not find output specs for speakers, but they are on par with other laptops as far as loudness is concerned, which is to say not too great.
1 USB 3.2 Gen Type-A connection
2 Intel Thunderbolt 4.0 USB-C connections either of which can be used to charge laptop. Thunderbolt 4 is fast and can support a docking station allowing for virtually unlimited connection options. Having said that I would have liked 1 or 2 more USB connections. If charging you are left with only 1 usable Thunderbolt connection, but again these seem to be de rigueur these days.
1 HDMI 1.4 connection. As such the maximum output resolution is 1920x1080 @60Hz. But I connected it to my 4K TV, and it indicated 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz connection (see pic).
1 SD card reader. Why not micro-sd?
The keyboard keys have a nice tactile feel. A backlit keyboard is great for low light usage and can be turned on/off with a choice between 2 brightness settings – but could not find anywhere to adjust time it stays on. As is normal with smaller laptops some keys have dual functions, requiring pressing function key to be used in combo.
65w wall charger with 8 ft USB-C cable with detachable inline brick. Being able to charge using Thunderbolt USB C connection(s) is great. It makes charging more “universal” allowing to carry just one charger for my 4 laptops as well as my phone!
1080P front facing camera with built in microphone. Has a manual slider to cover camera lens– a very nice security feature.
Universal microphone/audio jack
Windows 11 home
4 cell Lithium-ion battery.
Dimensions are 0.61” H x 12.36” W x 8.92” D. Weight: 3.48 lbs.
1 year warranty with onsite/home service after remote diagnosis.
Switching between laptop/tent/tablet modes is easy. I did notice a little node on each hinge whose function appears to be tilting the keyboard a little for easier typing. Have not noticed these on any other laptop.
I tested the battery using balanced power plan, with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled, looping a movie as well as having 3 tabs open on browser and email open which automatically retrieves email every minute. After 7 hours there was still 15% battery left with low battery settings kicking in.
At 3.5 lbs. it’s almost a pound heavier than my 13-inch laptop with very similar specs but 1 lb. lighter than my 15-inch gaming laptop – striking a nice balance between the 2. Weight seems to be more biased towards the base where keyboard and screen connect, making it feel a tad unbalanced - but I do like the extra screen/keyboard size.
While it doesn’t break any new ground, the laptop is nicely packaged, functions well and is very portable. I look forward to everyday use and recommend.

Cooks great - a couple of foibles from perfection
on May 6, 2023
Posted by: mkcar1
Having recently purchased a GE Profile wall oven with Wi-Fi etc I was really looking forward to testing out its smaller counter-top sibling. I was not disappointed as it’s like having a small portable wall oven with all its functionality. I love the way it cooks and would recommend it with 4.5 stars.
Unboxing was easy but the unit is a tad heavy at 28 lbs. Using built in handles on the bottom of the sides, just lift onto the counter and plug in. It does recommend cleaning all components as well as running oven empty for 20 minutes at 450 to burn off any protective substances before using – appetizing thought, yes? Comes with about a 34-inch power cord that winds neatly in the back to adjust.
I already had the app since I have the wall oven, so I just added this device to it. Connecting to Wi-Fi It does have its benefits, allowing for over-the-air updates (there have been a few for the wall oven) and being able to keep track of cooking processes such as alerts when done, etc. which are nice.
The manual pretty much covers components, set-up, usage, cleaning and troubleshooting. Comes with front removable crumb tray in bottom, rectangle (deep) baking pan, wire rack, sheet rack (fits inside baking pan) and air fry basket.
The oven itself is nicely constructed with multiple rack positions and large glass window for viewing cooking action with a bright light to help aluminate the proceedings. The center rack is termed self-presenting in that it has push pins in the back that the rack(s) slide into allowing it to move forward a little when door is opened and slide back when closing door, which is a nice feature but has a weight limit of 15 lbs.
The touchpad on the base of the oven is easy to use and clearly marked. Some settings require touching multiple buttons to access – such as Wi-Fi setup, loc (lock controls), etc. which complicates things a little.
Cooking modes:
Warm
Toast
Broil
Pizza
Pastry
Remote (allows for oven access thru app)
Reheat
Bagel
Roast
Cookies
Bake
Air Fry
Controls:
Conv (turn convection on/off)
Temp/Shade (temp for cooking shade for toasting)
+2 Min (adds 2 minutes to cooking time – comes in very handy)
Timer/Slice (set cooking time or number of slices being toasted)
Start
Cancel
On/Off button (to turn off you press for a could of seconds to ensure no accidental touching turns oven off)
Wifi Indicator
As far as cooking is concerned it works very well, especially with a 500-degree max temp. We tried convection baking 2 rock Cornish hens – came out great. Tried pizza using pizza setting which turned out well but it only took 80% of the time as I think it is set for frozen pizza and ours was not. Tried air frying 2 chicken breasts and 2 leg quarters - and while messy -they came out very nicely browned with crunchy skin and juicy. Same for air frying tater tots – came out crisp on outside. It is quiet during operation.
I don’t see toasting anything as we have a muti slice toaster we like very much. But could come in handy for thickly sliced French bread or overly large bagels, etc.
No preheating required is a fantastic time and energy saver. Nor do you have to heat a huge oven when you don’t need to.
1 year parts warranty
Downsides;
The center rack “present” function is nice but when I air fried the chicken pieces (using air fryer basket which is mesh) it allowed grease to drip onto the front panel. To be fair, the manual suggests using the baking pan for meat when air frying, which I used in the bottom to catch all the drippings - which worked fine.
The door moving up and over the top of the oven is nice as you are less likely to burn yourself or have someone bump into open door - but it makes cleaning the inside of it a tad more difficult. Also need additional space above oven to allow for door clearance. Cleaning the inside of any counter/toaster oven is always a challenge and this one is no different. Heating elements to clean a round, tight space, etc. – all to be expected.
It states and shows a picture of 12-inch pizza in oven. 12-inch will fit - but just barely – and seems it needs to be frozen or at least pre-baked (must set on open rack). Even then it was a tight fit so I cut off an inch or so small section to flatten out the area going towards back of oven for better fit. If you like to make/use fresh dough, as we do, that doesn’t work using the rack. A round 12-inch pizza pan does not fit due to lip (we have several different pans, and none allowed door to close). I searched the web and have ordered an 11 inch pan I hope will fit – will update after it arrives. Using the provided rectangle baking pan just didn’t appeal to me due to its shape and how deep it is. Why not make the oven 1 inch deeper?
Also states a 7 lb. chicken should fit. I tried a 5.9 lb. and it only fit if I did not use the sheet rack inside baking pan on bottom rung.
Baking pan is only accessory that is dish washer safe. Crumb tray, racks and air fryer basket are all hand washed.
Outside gets warm so make sure it is an area with ventilation and keep “little” hands away.
Overall, a great oven with just a couple of foibles from being perfect and would recommend.

Fast printer let down by frustrating software
on March 11, 2023
Posted by: mkcar1
In 2017 I purchased my 1st Canon printer – a MX922 Pixma and while I liked the printing I returned it after just 3 days as its software/interface was just to frustrating to use. Unfortunately, it seems nothing much has changed – this printer suffers from the same non-friendly, unintuitive software/interface as the inkjet. The touch screen is a nightmare - can’t scroll without selecting an unwanted option, cant back out of an option as using the back arrow top left of screen as it just sends you into a “loop”. Paper settings in touchscreen do not match the options in the printer dialogue software so you get an error that has to be accepted to print. But even with all of this (give 2.5 stars for software/interface) I would recommend as the print quality and speed overrides these issues (5 stars) – at least it does for me.
Unpacking printer was easy except at almost 50lbs it’s a tad heavy. I could move it myself but be aware you might want to have someone help you. Plug it in and it turned itself on and touchpad walks you thru setup. But due to its sensitivity it was a tad frustrating but I did get it setup to use wireless. It comes with an install disk but I went to Canon website to download and install drivers/software.
As far as print quality I printed same 11 x 8 picture on my HP 9025E (normal print using HP photo paper), Brother Color Laser MFC-L3770CDW (using HP Laser 150g 40lb Glossy paper at 1200dpi) and Canon Laser (using same paper and settings used on Brother). The Canon was a little more defined than the HP inkjet and color was 95% as bright, the Brother lagged behind both in color and detail but is several years old in its defense. It took the HP 45 seconds from print button to photo. Brother laser took 3 minutes and Canon took 15 seconds - that’s fast and its quiet. Also, the laser paper is substantially cheaper (and can print on both sides) then inkjet photo paper. Double sided regular paper printing is fast as well whether black/white or color.
You can use web interface (Remote UI), using printers ip address, to access a lot of settings instead of using touchscreen. Unfortunately, it appears there is no desktop app for print settings but there are standalone Scan Utility and Toner apps which work well. There is an office store Canon Office Printer Utility, but it just sends you to web page support – not helpful at all. If using a windows computer, depending on what software you are using to print from, you may be able to access the print dialogue – it allows for easy access to print options such as page size, quality, color or black and white, etc. To access dialogue directly, do a search for printers in settings – select Canon printer then select printer preferences and it will open this dialogue. There are a LOT of options but once everything is setup to your liking you can easily save them for later use but once saved, I could not edit them (event though there is an edit button) and wound up deleting and starting over.
There is a Canon Business app for phones that allows for decent controls to print.
Scanning app worked well but size is limited to 11 x 8 size. Using photo option I scanned an 11 x 8 picture I had printed - it took 8 seconds to scan and the jpg it created was true to the original. There are presets or you can manually set options such as dpi, etc. There is also a “stitch” option that allows you to scan 2 items and then “stich” them together to create 1 item. I did use the “stitch” function and I did get it to work but it takes a little practice.
One of the advantages I like about lasers is the cartridges won’t dry up as can occur with inkjet printers.
3-year warranty is excellent.
Overall, the printer is fast and efficient, and while it is let down by clunky software I still would recommend it. And let’s hope Canon updates/upgrades it interface(s) soon

Having used several different trimmers over a 40 year span I was interested in trying out this latest version. I was not dis-appointed – the unit is quiet, powerful and comes with a wide range of heads and attachments. Can be used wet or dry and has a stainless-steel handle. Due to the fact there are so many (21) attachments/settings I am still working thru what combinations works best where, but am sure I will work that out with time and would recommend.
The packaging was an issue for me. The product was delivered, and I could hear something rattling around. Turns out the trimmer was loose inside the box, cracking the plastic holder and a head had become detached as well and was loose in box too. Not the best of starts but trimmer seemed to work fine.
Comes with a large travel case that houses the attachments with places for some of the heads as well.
Charging is done by using the provided USB-A 36 inch cable with a proprietary 2 prong connection into the trimmer. No adapter is provided, which is the case for most products these days. What did dis-appointment me a little is if you are going to go to using USB power to charge (nice idea) why use a proprietary 2 prong connection to trimmer – why not use USB-C? Would be even more “global” and cable would be easy to replace if broken or lost.
Documentation states 6 hours of run time on a 3-hour charge. 5 minute charge is supposed to provide enough power for 1 trim (no time given). Seems you cannot use while charging.
Very easy to switch heads and attachments. Easy to set trim depth using spinning adjustment wheels on 2 of the comb attachments. Attachments come in 3 colors, black = full size beard & hair, medium grey = extra wide hair trimmer and light grey = body/eyebrows.
• Steel Trimmer
• Steel precision trimmer
• Precision shaver
• Nose and ear trimmer
• Extra-wide hair trimmer
• Body shaver
• Precision trimming guard
• 3-7 mm adjustable guard
• 5 wide hair guards
• 2 wide fading hair guards
• Eyebrow guard
• 2 body guards
• Cleaning Brush
I trimmed my hair, eyebrows and did some body trimming as well - all with great results with no nicks even on shortest setting(s). That has not been the case with prior products used, sometimes painfully so.
I didn’t and wont use wet so didn’t test that…..
Comes with an 8-year warranty which I think is exceptional. And does not require blade oil.
Overall, a nice product that should be able to trim whatever hair needs trimming. It is powerful so would suggest being careful when using – don’t want to end up with a bald patch.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The best just got better with the new Nextbase 622GW 4K Dash Cam. With an abundance of new features and world’s firsts, the 622GW is the most accurate, powerful and highest image quality Dash Cam in the market today. Ultra-clear 4K recording at 30fps captures those all-important finer details, with recording at 1440p HD at 60fps or 1080p HD at 120fps for super slow motion available. An improved sensor ensures enhanced night vision on even the darkest roads. Image quality is at the forefront of the Dash cam revolution, with Image stabilization reducing vibrations from your vehicle and improving footage clarity. Another first for Nextbase is Extreme Weather Mode, to provide a clearer image in misty conditions using special defogging algorithms, crucial for winter and night-time driving. The 622GW is the world’s first Dash Cam to include what3words. This provides your exact location to a 3m square location without the need for a data connection, crucial for emergency services to precisely locate you. Coupled with Emergency SOS and Alexa Built-In, the 622GW shows its further ahead the field with technology advancements. Increased connectivity for transferring footage to your mobile phone is key with new built-in Bluetooth 5.0 and Hyper-Sync Wi-Fi 5GHz speeds are up to 10x faster. This ensures syncing times with the MyNextbase Connect app (IoS 12.1 or later and Android 5.1 and up). The 622GW is compatible with any Nextbase Rear View Module, to offer-all around protection, whilst crucially maintaining front 4K image quality, with 1080p full HD rear recordings. The 622GW features all the much loved Nextbase features including Intelligent Parking Mode, high accuracy 10x GPS readings, a 3” HD IPS touch screen and the fully patented Click&Go PRO mount design, for the ultimate Dash Cam user experience. Note- For this product a U3 class Nextbase microSD card is required (Not included). The ability to maintain a high WRITE speed consistently is what Nextbase SD cards are designed to do better than any other SD card. Any drop/fluctuation in WRITE speed within the SD card causes the Dash Cam footage to buffer, and in some cases will stop the recording entirely. Our Nextbase SD card controller and Firmware on the SD card achieves the requirements from our Dash Cam, where other SD cards cannot. Due to the continuous recording and overwriting of the card, the SD card needs to be a high-endurance card, otherwise the card may develop faults after a period of time; if a lower-capability card is used, certain features on the camera will not fully function due to being unable to re-write and record. Nextbase has over 3 million dash cams sold, 115 unique patents, custom designed processors and improved sensors which record fast moving objects in perfect picture clarity for day and night time driving. Auto adjusts contrast and brightness to further improve the footage details in the event of an accident. Save time, money, and ease with Nextbase Dash Cams.

Easy to install traffic security

This is a lightweight unit that was very easy to install with good video/audio. Having a recorded account/witness I think is a must these days and while this is my 1st dashcam so have nothing to compare it to – I would recommend.
One issue I had was it did not come with a suction cup – only 3M tape. I wanted to be able to easily move the dashcam around the windshield to find the best position for recording and least obtrusive to vision while driving. As I was contemplating how to proceed, I went to NextBase site, and they have a suction cup available - so I ordered it and waited a little over a week for it to arrive (free shipping). It easily replaces the provided tape with just a click or 2. I am glad I waited as I wound up moving it around the windshield multiple times until I found the perfect spot. Now I can easily move from vehicle to vehicle as well – an added benefit. So, I would suggest purchasing the suction cup, but I am dis-appointed it wasn’t included with the unit (took off a star).
Another quibble is the little plastic ball that connects unit to cup has limited side to side motion and no way to tighten. I am concerned that this connection, overtime, will start loosening allowing unit to move.
It does come with a 32-inch USB mini plug to charge unit – no USB-C. I charged for a day - not sure how long internal battery lasts but its only used when parked in case of break-in, etc.
Also provided is a 150-inch 12-24V power cord and a handy little plastic “device” to help you tuck cord into your cars seams to make it “invisible”. It worked well and the length should be more than enough for installation.
I decided to record using 1080P 60 fps video (multiple options) and 2 minutes video length ( 1 or 3 also options). Recordings are clear and has minimal distortion or and audio was exceptionally clear. Even night recording was impressive.
A micro-sd card is not normally included but a 16GB was provided for my review and it came with a SD adapter. If purchasing the card needs to be a U2 (minimum 20MB/s) or better. I tried a U1 and while it did let me reformat it gave an error when trying to record. I had a 500GB U2 card around and it formatted (FAT32) and recorded fine – so up to 500GB card can be used. Its easy enough to take out and review recordings on a computer too.
Setup in app was easy enough as was connecting to wifi network. I am still fiddling with the settings/app but look forward to using. Overall, a nice light weight compact unit simple to setup and use.
I would recommend this to a friend!

A Laptop in Desktop clothing
on December 9, 2022
Posted by: mkcar1
It takes up the space that just a monitor would for desktop systems. Making all in ones a nice alternative for those not wanting to deal with having a separate computer case, screen and cables - and where your computer doesn’t need to be mobile. This unit is very functional supporting light gaming but would be excellent for students Office processing and streaming needs. I would recommend as I found it easy to use and is probably upgradeable, but I have not tried to open it up – yet.
Setting up was very easy and has minimal packing. It comes with a 2-part 8-foot cord with a small inline brick – just plug it into back of screen. There is a USB 2 connection bottom right of base which is convenient to use for USB keyboard and mouse connection. I had issues with my previous AIO were using USB connector on back lead to less-than-optimal connection to keyboard/mouse. Then just turn on and it walks you thru setup – and after numerous windows 11 home updates, I was finally ready to use.
This unit’s design doesn’t break any new ground, but it is pleasantly sleek and the provided keyboard (while a tad small - has full keys) and mouse are functional, but no on/off switch on mouse (in case storing/traveling).
The Intel® Core™ i5-1235U Processor 1.3 GHz (12M Cache, up to 4.4 GHz, 10 cores) and 8GB DDR4 SO-DIMM (4 x 2) allows for decent processing power but using only built in Intel UHD graphics it only supports light gaming but should be more than adequate for most all other processing needs.
The anti-glare (works well) 24-inch 19020 x 1080P touch screen with 8-bit color 250nits supports SDR while doing processing but will support HDR (300 nits minimum) if streaming – which is a tad disappointing, but colors are vivid. Also, the screen only tips to adjust angle – it does not adjust up/down for height. Touch works well and screen has very little bezel. I was able to view screen even when almost 90% to the side.
There was virtually no “cware” to get rid of. MyAsus app is used to check for updates, system maintenance, etc. but I didn’t think was very intuitive to use.
The 250GB M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD drive is a tad small as once I had everything installed, I was left with only 77GB available and that was before copying over 30GB in music. I wound up moving music to a USB thumb drive. According to speccy drive is WD SV530 SDBPNPZ-256G-1002. Drive is fast as noted in my attached pic. In researching it appears there may or may not be a 2nd HDD slot. If I open this up to upgrade SSD I will find out.
There are 3 USB 3.2 ports, 1 USB 2.0 port and 1 USBC 3.2 port on the back. Of course, having these connections on back can at times make them difficult to access.
There is one HDMI 1.4 in and 1 HDMI 1.4 out also on the back. The HDMI in allows screen to be used as a standard monitor maybe for viewing input from a phone, disk player, cable box, etc. Out of course would allow for adding 2nd monitor. There is a mode button on bottom right that will switch to/from HDMI in
Unit has wi-fi 6 (802.11ax – dual band). I have a mesh 11.ax wifi system and this unit connected using 11.ax at 350Mbps down and 33Mbps upload. This matches what I attain using wired ethernet for my just built desktop. It does have a gigabit ethernet port on back as well.
Bluetooth 5.2 – great for using headphones or connecting keyboard/mouse.
Camera is only 720P, but it is at the top of the screen with microphones on either side of camera. I don’t plan on using the camera and as such am dis-appointed it doesn’t have a manual slide to cover the lens for security.
Speakers are at the bottom and as with most units - not fabulous. But if you use the Dolby settings you can tune them so it’s not too painful use. I could not get the Realtek Audio Center to connect to RPC. I tried uninstalling the Realtek devices and re-installing but that didn’t work – but has on other machines. I have found Realtek app is better than Dolby.
Has dual purpose headphone/external microphone jack.
It is energy star certified and comes with 1 year warranty
The BB description of unit indicates on there is a card reader, but I could not find it and its listed as an option on manufacturer site.
It is very quiet to use, and its black/silver design is sleek. It is not going to break any processing marks and the 720P camera, onboard UHD graphics and non-HDR screen could all be better but if you are in the market for a computer with very small footprint to use for school or streaming this is worth a look and would recommend.

We spend 90% of our time indoors where the air is often 2 to 5 times worse than the air outside. Continuous monitoring of indoor air quality is key for minimizing negative health effects, preventing illness and increasing productivity, energy and good health. Airthings, air quality specialists and experts in radon, created the Airthings Wave Plus as the first smart air quality monitor with radon detection. Wave Plus has since won multiple awards for consumer electronics and innovation and was among the 2019 TIME Magazine inventions of the year. It is the perfect solution for homeowners to gain full visibility into six indoor air factors; radon, carbon dioxide (CO2), airborne chemicals (TVOCs), humidity, temperature and air pressure. Airthings Wave Plus includes a free app to connect to your smartphone (iOS/Android) via Bluetooth and an online dashboard with advanced analytics. Battery operated allowing you to install anywhere, with 16 months battery life. Please allow for a 7-Day settling period for the sensors to adjust to their new environment. By monitoring daily and continuously, you can avoid radon side effects, get the best indoor humidity level, low voc levels and low carbon dioxide levels. Made to the best indoor air quality standards, Airthings Wave Plus is essential in every home.

Breathe easier knowing

This unit lets you know your radon, VOC, CO2, Humidity, temp as well as pressure levels. It does all this in a way that is easy to understand with each item having a “info” button that explains in more detail what your level(s) mean. I found this all very helpful and recommend the unit.
Its small light-weight circular shape makes it easy to move around or mount on a wall. Setting up was as easy as taking it out of the box and removing the battery slicker. I downloaded the app and using Bluetooth it synched very quickly – creating account as part of this process. While you get up to date info when synched they suggest waiting a week before crunching the numbers to allow for more accurate aggregate information. You can also review the information thru the web – which is much easier to view than on phone. By moving your hand over the unit it provides a general reading with color ring glowing green, orange, red.
It is easily moved from room to room but again it suggests waiting a week for more accurate information. What I found interesting was the CO2 levels in our family room. Room is fairly large and has 12-foot ceiling and is open along one wall to kitchen. Levels went up almost to red when we had 4 adults and 2 grandkids in it. It made me wonder what levels we experienced growing up in our basement(s) and tiny rooms?
Also, after setting up account, I received email(s) welcoming me and asking if I had any questions. I also receive periodic email updates providing more info as to what numbers mean, etc.
Would be nice to have wi-fi connection but that would probably require an additional power option/supply. It does take 2 AA batteries to power.
1-year warranty but I noticed on website if registered within 30 days it extends to 5 years.
Overall, a nicely designed unit helped by its interface.

Holds everything I need and more

I had been considering a backpack for several months and this was perfect for me. I had been using 2 bags to carry everything which was cumbersome to say the least. I was able to fit all of that into this 1 backpack with room to spare and would recommend.
Large enough to hold everything but still lightweight – specs indicate 24.5 litters.
Nice lightweight fabric with carry handle on tap and nicely padded/adjustable straps. Dark camo pattern on front.
2 large, zippered compartments Back compartment easily fit my 16-inch gaming laptop. Front compartment is a tad smaller than back but does expand and has several pockets to help keep accessories/pens, etc organized.
Each side has expandable mesh pockets for bottles.
There is a small, zippered compartment in front perfect for tickets, boarding pass, etc.
Backpack style allows you to have your hands and arms free.
5-year warranty.
Attachment pic shows everything I carried and there was room for more.
I look forward to many years use and recommend.

Protect yourself in the event of an accident with this ESCORT dash cam. The built-in collision detection system stores important footage in the event of a crash, and Wi-Fi connectivity lets you instantly share data with your insurance company. This ESCORT dash cam uses super-capacitor technology to keep recording, even in extreme temperatures.

the BestBuy site recommeds buying 128gb card, however the Escort website says: Q: What is the largest size microSD card I can use with the Escort M1? A: The Escort M1 supports up to 32GB microSD cards. WICH SIZE IS THE CAM MEM. LIMITED TO?

I swapped out the 16GB with a 256GB micr-sd and it formatted fine (fat32) and has been recording fine. I have not recorded enough to actually confirm it will use all 256GB, but it accepted it.
