Clean and shiny
on January 29, 2022

from Scottsdale, Az
For most of my life I have just washed my face with soap and water in the morning/taking a shower and before going to bed. Of course, I used sunscreen and occasionally would use generic lotion and never thought much about changing my routine - but the Luna 3 for men – has changed my mind. It’s a nice compact/portable way to quickly clean your face (or any other body area actually) regardless of skin type. It left my face feeling freshly scrubbed and “tightened” with a nice glow, something my soap and water regimen does not do. Also, I have a beard and mustache and that was not an issue when using. I am looking forward to seeing the longer-term benefits and would certainly recommend.
Packaging is nice and there is nothing to assemble as unit comes ready to go. I did charge it before trying, using the provided 18-inch micro-sb USB cord (no AC plugin provided). While charging I downloaded the Foreo app (came with an insert that supplies QR code to scan). Also comes with a card giving basic instructions and info regarding the device.
The app will walk you thru syncing your device with your phone/app. The app is well organized and provides a lot of information about using the device as well as settings. The device is preset for 4 areas of the face, and you can set the intensity of each area from 1-16 as well as the duration up to 180 seconds. You can set all zones same or have different intensity/length for each so should be able to fine tune to your liking. It comes preset to intensity of 8 and 10 seconds per zone. I changed time to 20.
It came with a small bottle (.67oz) of Foreo micro-foam cleanser and a very small tube of serum. I liked the cleaner but didn’t try the serum.
Using device is very easy - you just moisten your face; apply your favorite cleanser to your face and start unit. It “stutters” when the time is up and to move to another area. Once done you just rinse your face and device. It is waterproof and can be used in the bath or shower. The silicone touch points feel great and according to provided info removes 99.5% of surface dirt, oil and excess sebum. The use of ultra-hygienic silicon is supposed to help resist bacteria buildup and be 35x more hygienic than nylon bristles.
Supposed to last 650 uses between charges but assume estimate is based on default settings – and would differ depending on your settings.
The other side of the device has a few small ridges which can be used as a massager and to apply serum, etc.
There is a mirror function within the app that works like a selfie and shows you on screen as you use the device. I can’t see using that but others might.
2-year warranty
At 65 years old and never really giving skin care much of a thought, and probably should have, I can honestly say I look forward to using this every day. It leaves my skin feeling very clean and soft in a way soap and water didn’t. I would give as an example that your face feels like your teeth do after having then cleaned at the dentist. A nice product nicely priced.
I would recommend this to a friend!

No more excuses to not floss
on December 30, 2021
Posted by: mkcar1
from Scottsdale, Az
I was brushing with an electric toothbrush plus then flossing and finally using my waterpik. But many times, I would skip the waterpik as I just didn’t want to deal with another device. The waterpik sonic-fusion 2.0 all-in-one makes it easy to floss every time you brush. With just a push of a button you can go from brushing and/or flossing – so no more excuses not to floss. Overall, a nice unit and would recommend.
Easy step by step instructions made for a quick setup.
Compact all-in-one design takes up less counter space.
The first time using the brush/waterpik mode I made the mistake of not turning the water pressure down first as I got a face full of water. Suggest starting with the water pressure on low setting. The waterpik did an excellent job flossing and it is a tad noisy but not anymore than my prior waterpik only unit. Toothbrush did a nice job of cleaning my teeth too.
The option to detach toothbrush from the base for hose free brushing is nice. Hose quickly snaps back in place to floss.
Like that you can detach the tootbrush/power handle for travel and comes with a protective travel case.
Only one brush head included with unit but when you register your product you receive 50% off the purchase of an additional brush head plus free shipping. Looking online 2 heads normally run about $25.
Also comes with a 3-year warranty.
Seems like a nice sturdy unit and look forward to having nice clean gums and teeth and recommend for anyone looking for better dental health!

Nice upgrade from my 1080P Eufy
on December 20, 2021
Posted by: mkcar1
from Scottsdale, Az
I have an Eufy 2k video doorbell, Eufy 2k solar security camera and a 1080P spotlight security camera (all of which work very well). So, I was excited to try this 2k upgrade replacing my current Eufy 1080P security spotlight camera (which requires a base to store videos). I was not dis-appointed as it was easy to setup and takes great quality video.
If you are new to security cameras and/or want a compact all-in-one unit not requiring a base – I would recommend this camera.
An added plus was I had purchased a solar panel for the 1080P Eufy and I found it works with this new camera, which was a nice surprise – although I had to get a mini-usb to usb-c adapter. Also, it used the same base attachment as the 1080P so didn’t have to redo that either.
Nicely packaged and comes with;
Security Camera (relatively small) with adjustable 600 Lumens spotlight.
Onboard 8GB AES128 secured storage.
Meets IP67 standard -indicating how watertight, heat resistant, etc. a unit is.
90dB siren (which I did not test).
3-foot 6-inch USB-C charging cable
No AC brick/adapter to plug charging cable into. This seems the case with many manufacturers now, I guess they assume everyone has several lying around. Which is certainly the case with me – they are everywhere in my house.
Small cone shaped camera mount including screws and wall inserts to secure screws.
Quick Start Guide
24/7 Monitoring Security Warning stickers
Was very easy to un-pack but before I did anything though I charged the unit which took several hours.
Setup is pretty similar to all of my Eufy devices;
Install Eufy app – since I already had it installed I just chose the add a device option, selected the SoloCam from the list of products provided and it walked me through synching and installation (uses your phone to scan camera). It uses 2.4 Ghz band to connect to wi-fi so I made sure my phone was using that band before adding unit. Once added app will walk you thru installation options as well as do’s and don’ts. Also once connected you can access the camera through app regardless of wi-fi or cellular connection and can be done remotely from anywhere.
Once added there are multiple settings, etc. you have access to. Since I have other devices, I was able to re-order the way they showed up in the app home screen. You can also choose whether there is a water mark, date/time or both or none on your recordings as well as rename the camera. Set-up how you receive alerts, set whether spotlight comes on and how bright, night vision, motion detection sensitivity, power manger, video quality, storage, wi-fi connection, there is a mounting guide, and option to restart or remove device.
Since I had added the Solar Panel I checked Power manager to ensure that it was working and getting enough sun to charge.
Camera is about 20 feet and 3 walls away from nearest mesh unit so wi-fi signal is good and I have no problem streaming/viewing 2K video.
Day and Night motion and sound detection are extremely good with very little lag time starting recording. You can set the detection level as well as recording all movement or only humans – it uses its built in AI to decide. I have it set to all. Having option to view live is nice but eats into the battery. It provides accurate and fast recording with 2K resolution being very good with nice color. Doesn’t get nearly as grainy when zooming in as my 1080P did. Field of view is great and records in color at night when you have the flood light option on. But I use infrared only so have spotlight turned off – I only used once for this review. 2-way audio is available also - you can also speak through the camera speaker which again I only tried once and its reasonably clear
It is very easy to download an event onto your phone if you want to save it.
Can be used with Alexa or Google but I didn’t try either.
1-year limited warranty.
Negatives;
Can’t add/upgrade memory. It would be pretty much perfect if you could upgrade but having access to memory/battery probably would compromise the weather sealing/rating?
Since I already had the base, it would be nice to have option to use its storage. If camera is stolen, you won’t have any record as memory will be gone with the camera. To help avoid this I installed camera so that a ladder is needed to access it. I guess an argument could be made that base could be taken if home broken into.
There is no computer application to work with Windows, etc. So, you must use android or apple to access.
Must recharge battery at some point unless you can keep it plugged in or spring for optional solar panel.
Overall, very nice and recommend. Just make sure you go through all the options in the app so you can fine tune to your liking.

A total package
on December 9, 2021
Posted by: mkcar1
from Scottsdale, Az
I have been lucky to have tested several robot vacuums the last few years, (Roomba 690 – 7/2017, Ecovacs DM81 – 10-2017, Samsung R7065 – 09-2018, Neato D6 – 09-2018 and Shark AI – 11-2020). While each one had its good and bad points none of them had this mix of software and cleaning power right out of the box.
This I6 does everything well. Software is great, set-up was as simple as could be connecting to 5Ghz, designed nicely fitting under all my furniture, quick and measured cleaning (no wasted motion), simple to empty dust bin (although a tad small), long run times between charges, charges quickly, very accurate in creating map of the house, easy editing of map with ability to create very detailed no-go zones (avoiding areas with wires, etc._ and what I consider to be its biggest plus(!) I moved docking station from one side of house to the other, after map had been generated – and it updated units position within the map/house – no need to remap!!! What’s not to like - so yes I recommend adding it to your Christmas shopping list, especially given its on sale right now!
Actual use;
Unpacking was easy with minimal packing material which is recyclable.
To get started I followed the minimal instructions provided - plugging in base and docking unit to it. I left it overnight to charge before proceeding further.
I downloaded the app and started setup the next morning. I already had an account from prior iRobot so just signed in. Unit connected to my Wi-Fi 1st try and as I mentioned it connected using 5Ghz.
I decided to have it clean while also mapping the house (3200 sq ft single story) and it ran for over 12 hours (around 6 hours cleaning and 6 hours charging - docking 3 times). But the map was still not complete with app stating it needed more info to finish - so this time I decided to continue mapping but not clean – and it ran an additional 4 hours (but didn’t require docking), and this time map was completed. The total of 16 hours to create the map seems a tad extreme but the robot went through several rooms multiple times. The upside to this is once completed the map was 99% accurate, I only needed to make small adjustments to a couple of “walls” to finish. I named all the rooms; you can use pre-programmed names or add your own if you want. Also, a BIG plus was adding no-go zones. Under my office desk against a wall is a jungle of wires - I was able to zoom in on the map and add an area 8 inches wide and 4 feet long to avoid robot getting tangled in those wires and added a larger area in the master bedroom around treadmill. I would suggest naming your rooms as that allows you to designate specific room(s) to clean or just select all - using the app. Just select “New Job” and it will bring you up a list of rooms. I tried it out and this worked great. Nice to be able to pinpoint your cleaning.
Another benefit of naming the rooms is app will tell you what room it is cleaning and how long it has been there.
As far as cleaning it was a perfect time for me to try it out as my 6- and 3-year-old grandsons had come over for Thanksgiving and they did what little boys do, they left a trail of crumbs around the house, particularly under the dining table. No problem for this unit as it picked up the smallest particles on up to a quarter of a cracker. This unit is the 1st I have encountered that has 2 rollers - which I am sure helped. It has only 1 side brush for sweeping against walls/corners, but it positions itself to use that side if necessary. I did my due diligence before running making sure doors were open, things picked up and it did not get stuck on initial run nor in any following runs! Can’t say the same for other units I have used.
You can also add carpet zones, but I didn’t try this, nor can I think of why I would.
Noise while running is comparable to other robots I have used. I did have to turn up the volume of the TV while it was cleaning that room but only a couple of degrees.
History option in app gives detailed account of each run – such as total run time, highlights areas cleaned, charging time, sq ft cleaned. It is very useful to determine what rooms you have or have not cleaned recently when not cleaning all.
Has a “find my robot” function where unit makes a sound or indicates where it is.
Remote access works well. I ran it remotely from my son’s home. To help check that it was cleaning room specified I selected room that had a security camera that I could monitor live.
You can create a schedule for robot to run. By using “favorites” you can name and setup multiple schedules. I didn’t try this yet.
It seems you can add a hands-free dust bin stand. Not sure how well this works and probably cheaper to buy as a package. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/irobot-clean-base-automatic-dirt-disposal-compatible-with-roomba-i-series-robot-vacuums-only-charcoal/6300421.p?skuId=6300421
1-year limited warranty.
Even though unit is near perfect there are few quibbles.
Small filter on dust bin.
No replacement parts included, such as side brush, filter. You can purchase a “replenish” kit for about $55 - https://www.bestbuy.com/site/irobot-roomba-e-and-i-series-replenishment-kit-green/6300422.p?skuId=6300422
I could find no way to change suction of unit. You can set “room-size clean” (smaller rooms get cleaned 2/3 times and large only once) or “Daily Clean” – one pass per room or “Extra clean” – 2 passes each room.
Room names are not alphabetized, nor could I find a way to accomplish that. Would make it easier than scrolling through room list, I think.
Overall, a very well thought out unit made better by app software that works as advertised (other manufacturers please take notice)!
If you are in the market for a robot vacuum, this would be a welcome addition to any home, and I highly recommend.

Hour-glass design to clean air
on November 12, 2021
Posted by: mkcar1
from Scottsdale, Az
The design, to me, resembles an hour-glass – so it is a tad different from the normal cylindrical shape of my other purifiers and I found the shape and black color a nice change from other units.
It is easy to use, and it seems to do a good job of cleaning the air. It is very quiet in sleep mode so much so that I replaced a different manufacturers unit in our bedroom with this one. You could have it next to your head and not hear it, but not sure how much air it is moving/cleaning. I did find the low speed gave out a rather low “hum” for lack of a better word. It disappeared when running medium or high speeds where I could just hear the air moving, like an old circulating fan would make. I tried removing/re-installing the filter but that didn’t seem to help. Also, while the app is easy to navigate, I could not find a way to set up a schedule – which was dis-appointing since this is a smart unit and I can access anywhere from my phone. So overall I would recommend but that hum on low speed is annoying but may be an issue with just my machine.
As far as setup I just used the QR code provided in the provided full manual. It took me to site to install the app. The machine connects to Wi-Fi using 2.4Ghz. Normally this means your phone must be on the same band to finish the install/connection – but I had my phone on 5Ghz to see if it would install – and it did! This is how all devices should work. After installation of app there was a firmware update which took a few minutes to complete.
The app is easy to navigate, and I like that the filter estimate is in hours not percentage (starts at 2160 hours)– gives a better indicator if the life of the filter – but I don’t know if fan speed impacts it though – lower speed running less air = more hours to replacement? But as I stated there appears to be no way to setup a schedule for device.
The units controls are pretty standard for these devices these days with On/Off, Wi-fi indicator, Mode (speed), Timer (1/2/4/8 hours), Filter reset, Air Quality (white = excellent, yellow = medium and red -= poor – in the app you can see particulate count and history as well) breevaShield turns anion/UV-C function on/off) Child Lock and Ambient light (an LED light that runs around the middle of the device – kind of like a night light – could be good for child or dorm room – brightness can be controlled from app).
It’s a nice size (9 x 9 x 19 in) and is light enough to easily move from room-to-room or change the filter.
One of the issues I have had with using prior air purifiers is – how do you know if it is working - cleaning the air? Upon plugging this unit in I set it to auto and it registered white which is in the excellent range, and it basically stayed there for a couple days of running. As I have done with other units, I fried some foods which seems to fill the air with pollutants and is a good way to test. The unit went yellow quickly and took a couple of hours to go back to white. Unit is rated for 246 ft. The living room we have the unit in is around 300 ft with 12-foot ceilings – and is open to the kitchen.
Manual suggests vacuuming the filter every few weeks and dusting off the unit with a dry rag. To change filter is easy – just flip unit over and unscrew base.
Having a child lock is a great idea as my grandsons like to play with the lights.
1-year warranty
I have tested 4 other air purifiers from different manufacturers, and I would put this number 2 on my favorites list. Also only 2 of the others have function to setup schedule.

Nice upgrade from 1080P
on November 8, 2021
Posted by: mkcar1
from Scottsdale, Az
I currently have 2 1080P Eufy wi-fi security cameras that I have used for over a year as well as an Eufy Smart wi-fi 2k video doorbell for 18 months – and while all have worked well, they required a base to store the videos and their batteries needed charging at some point. So, I was excited to get a chance to check out this new solar unit with built in storage. I wasn’t disappointed as it was easy to setup and relatively easy to install. If you are new to security cameras and/or want a compact all-in-one unit not requiring a base – I would recommend this unit.
Nicely packaged and comes with;
Security Camera (seemed kind of shaped like a cow bell to me) with 8GB eMMC memory (not expandable) and 600 Lumens spotlight. Also has an onboard 13400mAh battery. It also meets IP67 standard - yeah that didn’t mean anything to me either so looked it up and it deals with how watertight, heat resistant, etc. a unit is. Also has 90dB siren (which I did not test).
3-foot 6-inch USB-C charging cable (to be used for initial charge which took several hours)
No AC brick/adapter to plug charging cable into. This seems the case with many manufacturers now, I guess they assume everyone has several lying around. Which is certainly the case with me – they are everywhere in my house.
Cone shaped camera mount including screws and wall inserts to secure screws.
Quick Start Guide
24/7 Monitoring Security Warning stickers
Positives;
Was very easy to un-pack and setup following nicely detailed instructions. But before I did anything though I charged the unit which took several hours.
I already had Eufy app installed so I just chose the add a device option, selected the SoloCam from the list of products provided and it walked me through synching and installation. It uses 2.4 Ghz band to connect to wi-fi so I made sure my phone was using that band before adding unit. Once added thru the app it will walk you thru installation options as well as do’s and don’ts.
Set-up how you receive alerts, set whether spotlight comes on and how bright, night vision, motion detection sensitivity, power manger, video quality, storage, wi-fi connection, there is a mounting guide, about device and option to restart or remove device.
After installation you will want to check Power manager to ensure that the solar panel is working and getting enough sun to function. You can run on battery and documentation states you can do so for up 4 months – but why pay for solar and not use it? Deciding placement of the camera was more difficult than I expected. The new unit is maybe 3 times larger than my old 1080P and maybe twice as heavy. I couldn’t just put it where my 1080P camera was as would not get enough sun to function and the camera mount is larger too, so screw holes don’t match. With that in mind I decided to mount camera on my patio overhang ensuring that some of the mounting holes/screws went directly into the wood structure under my stucco - as I didn’t want it falling off. Setting angle of camera. etc. is easy as you just tighten the camera mount once it’s in place.
The camera is connected using AES 128 -bit encryption.
Camera is only about 12 feet and one wall away from my satellite mesh unit so wi-fi signal is very strong and I have no problem streaming/viewing 2K video.
Day and Night motion and sound detection are extremely good with very little lag time starting recording. You can set the detection level as well as recording all movement or only humans – it uses its built in AI to decide. I have it set to all, but I had to set the detection level down a couple of notches as sound set it off as did moving tree branches. You have option to view live. 2-way audio is available also - you can also speak through the camera speaker which again I only tried once and its reasonably clear - would have been good to scare trick or treaters though I think!
It is very easy to download an event onto your phone if you want to save it.
Can be used with Alexa or Google but I didn’t try either.
1-year limited warranty.
Negatives;
Can’t add/upgrade memory. It would be pretty much perfect if you could upgrade but having access to memory/battery probably would compromise the weather sealing/rating.
Worry about elements affecting camera over time. I live in desert so snow and even rain really aren’t an issue – it’s the heat. I had problems with doorbell overheating in the summer and shutting down. Had to move to more shaded side of doorway. This camera will get morning sun so hopefully it won’t overheat.
There is no computer application to work with Windows, etc. So, you must use android or apple to access.
Since I already had the base, it would be nice to have option to use its storage. If camera is stolen, you won’t have any record as memory will be gone with the camera. To help avoid this I installed camera so that a ladder is needed to access it. I guess an argument could be made that base could be taken if home broken into.
Overall, very nice and recommend. Just make sure you go through all the options in the app so you can fine tune to your liking.

Where is the bang for the buck?
on October 23, 2021

Over the years I have owned dozens of desktops, laptops, 2 in 1, all in one as well as helping friends choose a computer for their needs. Out of all of these computers there is only 1 that, after using, I didn’t recommend, and it was the Google Slate I tested for BB 2 years ago (and has been discontinued since). I now have a 2nd computer to add to my do not recommend list, and it is this Surface Go 3. And I don’t recommend it for basically the same reason I didn’t recommend the Slate - I just don’t feel that you get enough for its price. Considering its entry level processor and addons which increase the “real” cost quickly – such as keyboard ($80 – 130), pen ($66) and maybe mouse ($35 on up) – all prices from Microsoft website. Also, with only 1 USB-C you might need a port multiplier and/or a USB-C to USB 3.0 connector to allow using any non-USB-C component., all at additional cost. So where is the bang for the buck?
Out of the box, this unit is more suited for streaming, light productivity and surfing – than for work or gaming – all with an eye on anything stored being mostly done in the cloud. If you must have a Windows 11 Surface tablet and not being able to upgrade/replace any component isn’t a concern, then I suggest you spring for the more costly units with more powerful I series processors, more USB connections, more/better memory, etc. giving better performance and utility.
See attachments with my performance comparisons and speed tests for this device.
This unit has the following specs;
Power button on top. Nice position so you don’t accidentally turn it on/off. Also takes a tad bit of pressure to use, which is good.
10.5-inch 1080P 60Hz LED touchscreen with pen support. I believe it’s a 3:2 aspect ratio which I found fine for watching wide screen movies. Pretty wide bezel though.
Intel Pentium 1.10 Ghz Kaby Lake 6500Y processor. doesn’t use much power and will run Windows 11 - which is about all the good I can say about it.
8GB DDR3 2400 MHz memory. DDR4 is better with DDR5 now being the best.
Microsoft U3E1 motherboard
Intel UHD Graphics 615 (1920X1080@60Hz)
KIOXIA 128GB KBG40ZPZ128G BG4A NVMe hard drive. Pretty fast too.
Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 160MHz. No hardwire option.
Bluetooth 5.0
Studio Microphone built in.
Front facing 5-megapixel 1080P camera.
Realtek HD Audio. Built in stereo speakers sound okay. Couldn’t find wattage specs. Volume control is on top as well.
1 USB-C connection
1 Surface Connect port. Used to charge and can buy additional dongle to add additional ports/functionality.
Power cord is about 6 feet long and plugs in using Connect Port. Nice that connection is magnetic in case you pick it up to take and forget it is plugged in - it will just unhook without damaging device. Also, can be plugged in up or down.
Headphone jack
Micro SD card reader
Windows 11 S – I changed to 11 home so I could use apps I wanted to install. But I get why others may see this as a positive.
Dimensions are 0.33” depth, 9.7” width, 6.9” height at just 1.2 lbs.
Positives;
It was nicely packaged and was fairly easy to setup. Plug it in, start it up and it walks you thru Windows 11 setup which took a while.
It is very nice looking with the brushed aluminum case and seems well built. Built in Kick stand is nice.
Screen is bright with vibrant colors.
Touchscreen worked well. On-screen keyboard is nice size with normal sized keyboard/functionality easily selected.
No “bloat” software to get rid of.
Boots reasonably fast – but I have most everything turned off at startup.
Apps open okay but having multiple windows open with different things running slows it down a tad.
1080P screen resolution/color is great for me with nice viewing angle, but a tad “shiny/reflective” screen.
I turned power to performance mode and got about 4 hours of use before it shut down after reaching 20% left. I was doing a lot of downloading/installing/running of apps for my performance tests and they take several minutes and a lot of processing power to run so, 4 hours was decent. I got a little over 6 hours run time playing a 1080P movie from micro-sd with Bluetooth off, power set to “recommended” and Wi-Fi and HDR on. I had external keyboard dis-connected too.
The USB port is fast – especially if you have a true USB-C SSD drive/connected device.
Having Micro-sd slot is nice to be able to easily add storage and having it underneath the kickstand helps protect it. But it is slow (see speed attachment).
Super quiet while running and size makes it very portable, even if screen size makes it a tad hard to see/read sometimes (old eyes).
1-year warranty
Negatives;
Only 128GB SSD and, as far as I could research, no way to upgrade. Windows takes up almost 40GB by itself.
Screen is pretty reflective.
No keyboard included (additional cost). Initially this didn’t seem too much of an issue. But as I continued to use it, I found that having a keyboard is a must, at least for me, to give it some semblance to a true laptop. I happened to have a USB 3.0 external keyboard as well as a USB-C to USB 3.0 conversion connector laying around so just connected it with no real additional cost to me. But I would not travel with this keyboard, and it uses up the 1 USB-C connector.
No pen included (additional cost).
Only 1 USB-C connection (duplicator additional cost).
Can add a Microsoft dongle to the Surface Connect port for more flexibility – but again additional cost.
Adding Micro-sd – additional cost.
Back got hot while charging. So much so I had to set it on table as to warm on legs.
This is not a situation where the device doesn’t work. It is nicely engineered, light weight, etc. – and what it does it does well, and it may grow on me. But with its entry level processor, limited storage, I can’t help but feel it is too pricey for what you get. And with that in mind I would not recommend as there are better options out there for the price.

Just keeps getting better

This 8qt. 14 in 1 is the latest iteration of Ninjas line of Pressure Cookers/Fryers. The big difference from my prior 8 qt Foodi is the pressure cooker and fryer lids have been combined - no separate pressure-cooking lid to store anymore. Since the pressure-cooking lid is now built in there is slide adjustment to select either pressure cooker, SteamCrisp or AirFryer/Stovetop modes. Also temperature now goes to 450 – up from 400 in my old unit. The downside to all this is its now even heavier and slightly larger than my prior unit. My wife could not lift it up/down from counter to store.
Base of unit is sturdy with easy-to-use controls. Temperature and cooking time are selected using up/down arrows with digital readout. With slider in left most position rotary control only allows pressure cook. With slider in center position 2 rotary control allows you to select either steam/crisp (new) or seam/bake (new). With slider in right most position this allows you to select from air fry, broil, bake/roast, dehydrate, proof for baking (new), sear/saute, steam, sous vide (new), slow cook and finally yogurt.
There is on/off and start/stop buttons as well.
Layer rack
reversible rack used for broiling or steaming
non-stick cook and crisper basket with detachable diffuser
non-stick 8 qt. removable cooking pot – a tad thicker than my older 8 qt Foodi.
A nice “starter” booklet of recipes with an bar code to get even more recipes. At the back of provided recipe book there is a list of foods with general cooking times if using steaming, broiling, air crisper, pressure cooking, etc.
Nicely organized owners guide that lists several accessories that can be purchased separately such as roasting rack, dehydrating rack, loaf pan, crisper pan for specific cooking applications.
Actual use.
Using air crisper French fries came out great. Only effort was to stir occasionally. When you lift the lid cooking stops and re-starts when closed. Also you can change temp or time on the fly.
Cooked chicken wings using steamer/crisp using the 2-layer reversible rack(s) inside the cooking pot. I added 1 cup chicken broth (you must add at least ½ cup of a liquid) to build steam. Wings on top layer cooked slightly quicker than those on the bottom. But bottom wings were crisp on the bottom which was somewhat of an issue with my old Foodi. I was apprehensive about the cooking times suggested as it just didn’t seem long enough to cook, so I added about 10% more time and temp. This was a mistake on my part as they were just a tad overcooked. Believe the times listed/suggested. Also, I would suggest spraying the racks with oil, so food doesn’t stick.
Also used sear/sauté option to make gravy from the above chicken drippings. Just removed chicken (and skimmed grease) set selection and heated it up. Didn’t need to dirty up any other pans.
Cooked a rack of baby back ribs using recommended pressure cooker time. Cut ribs in half to fit into basket and turned them on their side. When done did not use air crisper but instead put them on hot outside grill for about 5 minutes to crisp up and put BBQ sauce on. They were very tasty and succulent.
Used steamer/crisp to cook 6 lb. chicken. Just salt and pepper with a cup of chicken stock for liquid. Very impressed that bottom was crispy. Again, I cooked too long not trusting time/temp suggested. As such breast came out just a tad dry – but that’s operator error. Just reinforces to follow their recipe directions.
Cooked banana bread, which I had never tried before, using provided recipe. It came out great, but top was a tad crispy. I am attributing that to fact I didn’t have a Foodi loaf pan, so used an 8-inch by 2-inch round pan that fit. Since the pandemic I, has have a lot of others, started making my own bread. Cant wait to try the proofing option but just didn’t have time before review was due.
Used air fryer to cook boneless pork chops using suggested times. They came out juicy, but I would have preferred a little more “crust”. May pump up the temp for the last couple of minutes next time.
Clean up is mostly a breeze. The cooking pot, cook & crisp basket and its detachable diffuser are all non-stick and dish washer safe. Also, the tilt up crisper/pressure cooker makes cleaning much easier than other units where element is built into the top. But I have had issues where food bakes itself onto the diffuser making it hard to clean sometimes.
The outside metal of the unit does get pretty warm but never hot enough to burn you. Plastic vent on top stayed cool.
Nice to cook things in one unit, with minimal mess and no heating up the kitchen/oven.
Could not try all the cooking options but plan too soon.
The new steam/crisp mode is a fantastic idea. Certainly, seems to help food stay moist and cook quicker. You can even safely cook frozen beef, fish, pork, ravioli, etc. No need to wait to thaw!
Provided hints suggest lowering any current recipes temperature by 25 degrees when using this unit. Doesn’t mention time adjustments.
Downsides.
It is large and heavy.
While it doesn’t “rattle” like my old Foodi it does produce a “whine” when using any of the fryer selections. Over a long cooking time it can get a tad annoying. But we have an open floor plan making it hard to escape the noise.
We have had our current 8qt Foodi for 2 years and use at least a few times a month – with no issues. Hoping for same with this unit long term.
Another great product from Ninja and highly recommend.

We’re bringing Quantum Dot Color to the people. Enjoy over one billion colors, without worrying about how many commas are on the price tag. You’re welcome. The U6G also has 4K resolution, Dolby Vision HDR and Full Array Local Dimming Zones. Sounds like science, looks like a way more expensive set. Especially with a quad-core processor managing all the algorithms that add up to more colors, more precision and more ooohhh.

Premium TV at reasonable price
on September 7, 2021

Another winner from Hisense. Their TV’s keep getting better and better. If you are looking for a 4K UHD (3840x2160p) TV that won’t break the bank - this is the set for you. This is their “entry” level to their top-of-the-line U series – U6, U7, U8 and U9.
Comes nicely boxed that, once you remove the 4 lock handles on the sides, allows TV to easily slide out. I would suggest having 2 people for unboxing and attaching the legs - I used a piece of Styrofoam from the packing to raise bottom of TV up to attach. This set gives you 2 options for leg attachment – outer and inner. Since I had a wide enough TV stand, I choose the outer as I felt it would be more stable - but having inner option allows it to fit on a smaller stand. Weighs a little over 63 lbs. and measures 41 inches tall, 66 inches wide and 14 inches deep - with stand. For those interested in wall mount it uses 600mm x 300mm VESA. Comes with basic setup and function descriptions. I could write pages and pages concerning all of the settings but would suggest going to Hisense site when registering and downloading the complete guide – it has a LOT of important.
Has 4 4k inputs (1ST arc enabled), 2 USB 2.0 dc 5v – 0.5a, and AV in connections on left side of TV making it easy to use these connections if mounting to the wall. Straight out the back are connections for LAN (hard wired), digital audio out, headphone and a service jack. Power connection is on back right side again nice if wall mounting. There is no component/composite connection I guess AV in replaces this
Positives;
Easy to setup as TV presents step by step onscreen instructions to setup wifi and date/time.
Supports 802.11ac 2.4GHz/5GHz wifi as well as hard wired LAN. I used both and was able to stream 4K content with no issues. I do have an AX mesh wifi system though which certainly helps.
Picture quality is very subjective but with the wide array of settings/options you should be able to get it set to your personal liking. As for me I always turn off the auto backlight, contrast etc. as they just never seem to give me the consistent picture I want. This is no knock-on Hisense as I have wound up doing the same on all my TV’s. I did, however, find that turning the auto color space option on really enhanced the picture. I would really suggest going to Hisense site and downloading the full manual.
Once I got the screen settings done the picture was very good watching 1080P HD Cox cable channels including football/baseball/indycar/F1 and movies. Since this TV has 60Hz response I was a tad worried about ratcheting/jittering/shadowing/etc. but everything I watched looked fine. Any 4K streamed content was great. Colors really pop. Also, when streaming some 4K content the TV automatically went into Dolby Vision Bright mode – which seemed to override all my settings - which was fine as the picture and sound were great. Opening an app seems to go very quickly – but can be impacted by internet/site usage, etc.
I tried attaching a USB thumb drive and it didn’t automatically show up as an option to use/play. I had to go to the TV manual to find out another option was to go into apps then select media. USB then did show up., It played M2ts formatted videos with no problem and most had Dolby Digital audio which sounded pretty good using just TV speakers.
Has several sound options for the around 13-watt internal speakers – which provide adequate sound, but I normally use soundbar.
Remote is fairly well thought out with reasonably sized/tactile buttons. Has voice control which I found works well, sometimes – depends on what you are searching for. Has a nice “find me” button on TV that helps you find a “lost” remote.
Comes with a lot of apps pre-installed and has an option to add more. It does use Google and is always reminding me to sign into my account.
Screen looked good from all the angles we watch TV from.
1 year warranty
Negatives
I have a somewhat dark but semi-transparent “block” about 2 inches wide and maybe an inch tall in the top right and left corners of the screen. Depending on what you are watching it is more prevalent. I am a tad concerned but don’t feel its worth returning set for at this time. Since I have had a Hisense 60-inch 4K TV for over 3 years and have not had any issues I am hoping this doesn’t get any worse. But took a star off for it.
Remote isn’t fluorescent nor does it have a “light” button – so not easy to use in dark room. Also doesn’t have an exit option on remote to get you directly back to screen. So, as you drill down thru the options you only have a back button which requires you to go back thru all the options to finally get to screen.
Occasionally when using the cable remote for turning off the TV I get an off or restart option that can only be selected using the TV remote. Can’t quite figure out why as it is intermittent but after it happens when I turn the TV back on it goes to main screen not the input I had been watching. A tad irritating but not a huge deal.
Overall, a worthy option and do recommend.

The Levoit PlasmaPro Smart True HEPA Air Purifier completely refreshes air 5x per hour in a 403 sq ft space or 2x per hour in a 1,007 sq ft space, running with noise levels as low as 24dB. With 3-stage H13 True HEPA filtration, the air purifier filters 99.97% of airborne particles 0.3 microns in size and neutralizes household odors such as pet and kitchen smells. HEPASmart Technology filters 99.99% of bacteria and mold, as well as 99.9% of viruses, keeping your home fresh and healthy. PlasmaPro Technology releases negative and positive ions into the air, which then bind with contaminants and break them down into harmless matter. The laser dust sensor scans surrounding air for airborne particles and displays the amount detected on the PM2.5 display. With smart control, you can control air purifier settings no matter where you are, connect to third-party voice assistants, and receive real-time notifications about air quality and filter life.

Solid, quiet, thoughtful design
on August 21, 2021
Posted by: mkcar1
from Scottsdale, Az
The design is simple but well thought out. It’s a nice size (10.8 x 10.8 x 20.5 in – basically a cylinder) and is light weight (11 lbs.) with built in carrying handles – making it easy to move around or change the filter. I have tested 3 other air purifiers from different manufacturers, and I have to say this is my overall favorite. Attention to detail, overall ease of use, filter maintenance/replacement and extremely quiet operation makes it a true winner and I highly recommend.
Unit was nicely packaged. Just open it up, remove wrapping from around filter and plug it on using about 5 ft power cord. I used the QR code provided in the manual to download the VeSync app to my android phone. It loaded easily and “synched” with the unit 1st try. The app allows you to add multiple units/homes as well as accessing all controls/functions remotely using internet. Its main screen shows air quality and whether unit is on/off allowing access to fan speed. I have it set to quiet so that even using auto mode it will not go to highest fan speed. I found the app to be easily navigated but am having issues setting up schedules on/off times - I am sure it is operator error but still irritating.
All the unit’s physical controls are on the top in a small “ring”, just a bit larger than a coaster. Around the outside of this ring are its controls – on/off, wi-fi indicator, fan speed, sleep mode, timer button, auto mode, display off, display lock and plasma on/off. The center of the ring indicates air quality (there are 4 color ranges blue = very good, green = good, orange=moderate and red= bad) and displays PM2 particle count and timer if being used. Display is bright and easy to see and use.
One of the issues I have had with using prior air purifiers is – how do you know if it is working - cleaning the air? Upon plugging this unit in I set it to auto and it registered 001 which is in the very good range (blue), and it basically stayed there for a couple days of running. I have found that frying chicken seems to fill the air with pollutants (making me wonder how much “particles” I have breathed in over my lifetime - just from frying chicken!) and is a good way to test. The unit went from 001 to over 600 and the screen s air quality ring was red. It took about 1.5 hours for it to get back to blue. Unit is rated for 403 ft. The living room we have the unit in is around 300 ft with 12-foot ceilings – and is open to the kitchen.
This is the quietest unit I have used so far and the only one I have set to use auto fan speed.
The filter consists of a pre-filter, H13 True HEPA filter and a High-efficiency activated carbon filter. There is an indicator in the unit for filter replacement and the app shows you percentage left – manual states you can expect about 12 months before filter needs replacing. In manual it also states clean air rate is 260 cubic ft per minute. Air change per hour is 5 meaning it can “change” the air 5 times in an hour on high speed. I checked on Levoit website and new filters run about $50. Some of these units’ replacement filters are almost as much as the unit – kind of like inkjet printers….
Manual does suggest vacuuming the dust sensor as well as the pre-filter every few weeks.
I wondered why there was an option to lock the unit’s controls and why would anyone bother to use it? It only took 5 minutes when my youngest grandson visited to see why this is a great option. He was attracted to the lights like a month to a flame. I could not get him to stop touching all the controls and turning machine on/off. He then thought it would be an excellent place to set his sippy cup. Its then I remembered I could turn off the display and lock the controls – once that was done, he moved on quickly.
2-year warranty and according to Levoit website they are the #1 air purifier brand in the US.
No negatives I can think off other than my not being able to figure out the scheduling, but as I stated, its probably me.

Protect yourself in the event of an accident with this ESCORT dash cam. The built-in collision detection system stores important footage in the event of a crash, and Wi-Fi connectivity lets you instantly share data with your insurance company. This ESCORT dash cam uses super-capacitor technology to keep recording, even in extreme temperatures.

the BestBuy site recommeds buying 128gb card, however the Escort website says: Q: What is the largest size microSD card I can use with the Escort M1? A: The Escort M1 supports up to 32GB microSD cards. WICH SIZE IS THE CAM MEM. LIMITED TO?

I swapped out the 16GB with a 256GB micr-sd and it formatted fine (fat32) and has been recording fine. I have not recorded enough to actually confirm it will use all 256GB, but it accepted it.
