waste of time

geek squad tv and video setup was a total waste of money, $150 and there less than 15 mins, did not remove the empty packaging they removed the tv from, did not show how the tv worked or what the different buttons on the control were, did not show me that the dvd was working or how to get to that setting using your keypad, did not refer if the place that they put the video and cable was ok and was I satisfied with the placement, attached wires and left a mess did not remove their trash. Do NOT recommend wasting your money not friendly and do not show or explain anything..
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Worth it if you will use all the services

Sure, I could have probably done everything that the Geek Squad did on my own if I wanted to spend an entire day on it but I'm not sure I would have saved much money. We had a huge old TV that no one is their right mind would want and we would have had to pay to recycle it.
They came right on time and called on the day of delivery for final confirmation. They both were very friendly and set up the TV in under 10 minutes. After that, they went through the basic hookups and did the basic programming. There is nothing fancy here but I guess it could be helpful if you don't know how to do it yourself.
But the real value is that they took our MASSIVE old TV and will recycle it. In my opinion, this combined with basic delivery are worth the price.
In summary, even if you know how to setup a TV, this service is worth it if you:
1) Have a big old TV that no one wants and needs to be recycled
2) Need delivery of your TV
What's great about it: Recyling of the old TV is included with delivery
What's not so great: If you don't have to recycle an old TV, this would not be worth the price
I would recommend this to a friend!

Frustrating Service

I purchased a TV on 1/21/08 and it was backordered until 2/17/08. I paid $100 extra for the Geek Squad to set up the TV, DVD, VHS and Surround Sound in addition to the 'so called' promotional Geek Squad set up of $99 included with the purchase. The serviceman came out on 2/21/08 and installed the set and left the TV playing a DVD. When only the TV would play there was no surround sound. I called that same day and the serviceman returned and hooked up the TV's surround sound. I did not play a DVD again until 2/27/08. When I turned on the DVD player I had audio but no video. I called back to the Geek Squad on 2/28/08 and was told they would return on 3/2/08. However; on 3/2/08 the Geek Squad called and said they would not return unless I pay an additional $100.00. I've already paid a promo of $99 and an additional $100 and still do not have my set working properly. Make sure all your equipment is working properly before they leave your property. The guy that was at my place was in such a hurry I did not insist on playing every piece of equipment.
What's not so great: Does not perform
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

ridiculous. the squad installed a tv and dvd player. placed dvd player out of reach so that 91 year old customer has to use a step stool to access player. also in order i requested the old tv be removed and recycled. this appears in the order. the installers did not remove tv even upon request and left it in the garage.
What's not so great: set up the dvd player so that my 91 year old mother has to use a step stool and did not remove old tv as requested
I would recommend this to a friend!

The Geek Squad set up my Samsung LCD. I know this would have taken me hours to figure out and spoiled my day if I had tried to do it myself. They carried off my old CRT and got rid of all the cardboard packaging too. Programmed my remote and showed me the commands. Cabled up my HD DVD player. They were done in about fifteen minutes. This was so worth the 150 to save the pain in my *ss. Highly recommend.
What's great about it: They did everything right
What's not so great: non

I ordered the geek squad package needing a dependable person to hook up my 42 plasma. I was advised the geek rep would come with the TV. I was told I could schedule my day to acomdate my work and school schedule. Both statments were false the on-line option only let you select standard shipping no date. Then, when I called the geek dpt they told me they have no visability to on-line order for 10days and within that time frame they send you a letter. I advised them I see a tracking # with scheduled delvry for 10/2. Cynthia said that is their services but not their order and apologized for it sounding so dumb. Why except orders when you can not meet the cus service nor help them at least by pulling up the account. So, consquently you wait 10 days for them to get the account in their system then up to another 10 days for them to come and service you but you paid them almots 20 -30 days ago horrible service. In additon, I was disconnected 2x by male indivudals after requesting a supervisor.
What's great about it: Nothing
What's not so great: You purchase the package on line it shows with shipping and tracking number but really the geek squad dsnt have it
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I waited to speak eith a technician for over 20 minutes, only to have to call the store and find out that was the wrong number given to me to set an appointment. When I called the correct number, I waited another 20 minutes to speak with someone who could only give me an appointment 2 weeks out...and still had me wait while he consulted for the appointment and tried talked to a technician. They need to hire more people if they want to advertise this service. Will never use them!!!!
What's great about it: nothing
What's not so great: phone lines are awful, long waits for nothing

We've tried ourselves and hired professionals twice before to set-up our TV/DVD/VCR player/recorder and cable service so it all works together. We've been trying for over a year with no luck. What we needed wasn't unusual or tricky - just beyond our level. Finally the Geek Squad came through and got it all connected and working like it should. They were on-time, professional, quick and helpful. Thank you!
What's great about it: Best thing - they got the job done.
What's not so great: Couldn't ask for more.
I would recommend this to a friend!
