I hate printers that won't let me. I almost never use color but my Epson runs out of color for no reason then won't print. I will never buy another printer that does that.
My HP printer will print B&W with an empty color cartridge. But, I only use and buy HP Printers that use two cartridges. I have an older 3 in 1 model Deskjet 2512. Will the newer HP printers do it? I don't know.
*I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE BUT-I HAD MANAGED THE SETTINGS AND DID PRINT ON B/W INK WHEN THE COLOR WAS EMPTY ALTHOUGH I LEFT THE EMPTY CARTIDGE IN THE SLOT-NEW PRINTERS ARE GIVING REWARD PROGRAM WITH INK AND HAVING IT MAILED TO YOUR DOOR-BEFORE YOU RUN OUT-BEST BUY HAS THE FLYER DETAILS-LOW MONTHLY FEE/COST TO JOIN THE INK PROGRAM/REFILLS-ITS LESS THAN HALF OF WHAT YOU WOULD PAY IF YOU WERE NOT A MEMBER OF THE INK CLUB. 2015
You can only interchange inks if it is made with the same cartridge. Check it against the old one. If it's wider, longer, taller or just different it won't fit. You should be able to take it back, if you haven't removed the tab on the cartridge &/or destroyed the packaging...
You failed to mentioned the model number of your printer. All manufacturers use different types and styles of ink. In fact the printer are a "giveaway" and the ink is where the profit is. Back to your question... If the 63 fits and it's open, I would try. I don't think you would break the printer, probably the worse thing that would happen is a big mess inside your machine if the ink fails to preform. Good luck
Unfortunately I've made the same mistake & had no luck with it working, as long as it's not used you may have luck returning it, if not try selling it on CL. Either way it's a bummer
Bought a new HP Office Jet 4650 calling for use of HP 63 cartridges. Have a supply of HP 61 cartridges (black and color) on hand from an ENVY printer that died. Can I use HP61 cartridges on my 4650?
I don't see HP Office Desk Jet 4650 listed on the packaging for the HP 61 cartridges. If HP is listing a specific cartridge, that is the one I would use. The cartridges are manufactured especially for the requirements of the specific printer.
Isn't Noir french? It generally refers to dark as in a film genre. Or Black wine grape from a region I think. If so, either way, that would make it black black or dark black. To continue I would have to get all poetic...j me
if you open the printer where the cartridge goes, it might tell you what number cartridge to use, but if your smart, use HP ink, not generic, trust me.
I would suggest going to Best Buy and look for the HP 61 or 61xl cartridge. On the front left-side of the carton, there is a big list of printer models and series. This way you will be able to see if they would be compatible with your printer.
If you select the product on best buy website and scroll down past questions and answers you will see "from the manufacturer" expand it and it will list compatible printers.
Hi Tom, sorry for your predicament. Unfortunately, HP no longer manufactures printers that use that cartridge, and those printers are no longer available at retail. New printer models use updated ink technology for more efficient, quality-guaranteed prints.
Yes, you can replace just the black cartridge. In fact you can remove the color cartridge so the printer goes into "single cartridge mode" and doesn't even check for the color cartridge.
I believe that the price I paid was $13.59. However, I used a $5 reward to reduce the price from that. If you are a Best Buy Reward Zone member, you save 15%, and the ink is shipped free.
