There is a drain on the bottom left that you have to drain if you move it. Drain trap also allows you trap small particles. Trapped a diamond from a ring that went through the wash once.

A:

There is an access panel on the bottom left/front of the washer where the filter is located.
LG recommends the filter be cleaned once per month.
There is a hose which drains remaining water from the tub that needs to be emptied before removing the filter or "leaking" from the filter area will occur.
It won't leak randomly, but cleaning the water up from the floor under the washer would be difficult so be sure to empty using the hose before trying to remove the filter.

The washer should not leak at all. The lint trap (the door he/she was talking about) should be checked/cleaned on a regular basis, that is correct - it is part of maintaining the unit, it is not a problem at all.

Do you still like your washer?

Q:

For those who have bought it over a year ago- how do you still like it? I heard most washers nowadays are are of cheap plastic components (gears, etc) that expand, loosen or break over time.

I'm considering a Speed Queen brand because of this (they're commercial strong but for home use, but it's way more expensive (2,400+)..anyhoo, this LG would be my next option but am worried about all the plastic..

thoughts? problems?

The only thing plastic on the LG - 5.2 Cu. Ft. 14-Cycle Mega Capacity High-Efficiency Steam Front-Loading Washer - Graphite Steel Model # WM8000HVA is the control panel and I suspect this will be true for most if not all washers.
The PCM cabinet on the WM8000HVA is a kind of compound metal sheet rolled with color coating. The base metal is composed of a layer of 0.3mm ~ 1.2mm thickness of cold rolled steel, galvanized steel, or aluminum alloy plate and other metal sheets. No. But if you get the dryer you can. Dryer door is reversible. Washer door is not.

Standing facing the front of my washer when I open the door it swings to the left. The hinges that hold the washer door on the machine are on the left. However if you get the matching dryer that door opens to the right

Water supply hoses

Q:

In the manual it states that the water supply hoses are supplied and to only use the supplied hoses. Anyone know the length of these hoses and why must you only use the ones supplied? I believe the ones supplied are also a rubber hose and not the stainless braided hose sold in store. Also when purchasing the machine you're told that you must buy hoses from them or the machine will not be connected by installers. Thoughts on this

Hi Mine are stacked and not right next to the supply and they work perfectly. I had 10 year old LG's and those hoses worked until the units were replaced. Also, having a water softener helps if you have hard water. The hoses appear to be a meter long, or just over 3 feet. I also prefer the stainless hoses throughout my house. Hope this helps.

When they state "supplied hoses" they mean the ones sold in store, the stainless braided and rubber are both available. Installers will not connect them without new hoses for liability issues, if your old hoses burst and they installed, it could be put on them. It also protects your machine and home (if they burst and you got flooding). If you already have stainless hoses, let them know and ask.

Ft. 14-Cycle Mega Capacity High-Efficiency Steam Front-Loading Washer - Graphite Steel, Model # WM8000HVA is mainly for warranty purposes. The supplied hoses have been tested to make sure that they fit properly and will not leak and that they can withstand the recommended pressure for the water supply line. It is also recommended that these hoses should be replaced every 5 years. LG is not
responsible for product malfunction or accidents caused by the use of separately purchased unauthorized parts...^IFV

Dryer is very heavy i say no. There is no way to lift up. Washer is light so i 'd say no. Buy pedestal for individual also i would not advise not safe.

No and unless you are 10 ft tall you couldn't reach controls
But you can put a board on top of them to make laundry
Table for folding etc.

That might be advisable to place that much weight on top of the controls of the washer as the top is not designed to support that kind of weight...IFV
