It is very unlikely you will be able to view material you recorded on this WD drive while using a FIOS box when you change to DirecTV. And the bad news is that you probably cannot plug the My Book into someone else's FIOS box and be able to see the recorded material either. Don't know if you can use the MyBook on DirecTV, but you should be able to find that out on their web site - search support for MyBook and see what others have posted.

The WD MyBook AV 1TB Hard Drive is compatible with Direct TV set-top boxes R15, HR20, HR2, and HR23, so you should be able to access anything stored on this drive through your new Direct TV hook-up. Anything stored on the E-SATA extender may have different compatibility, so you should look into product information for that specific unit.

Is this a 'Supported device' for TiVo Roamio

I have a My Book AV DVR Expander (WDBABT0010HBK) eSATA that has been used exclusively with a TiVo Premiere DVR (TCD746320). The Premiere’s HDD has died and I have purchased a new TiVo Roamio (TCD846500). The Roamio does not ‘see’ my DVR Expander and TiVo Support says that it might be an ‘Unsupported device’. TiVo Support asked me for the ‘Drive ID’ which I don’t have and am hoping you can help.

Also, TiVo is selling a Western Digital My Book AV DVR Expander (1TB) on their website but they do not give the model or part number. Can you please tell me the full model number, eg WDBABT0010HBK-NESN. Can you provide a photo of the external box with the TiVo logo?

Yes this works with all TiVo's with eSata drive expansion connectors. Before you do this though first replace the internal drive with a 3TB WD AV-GP drive (you will lose all recordings currently on your Roamio). If losing those recordings isn't acceptable then yes just add this and you won't lose anything.

Yes it will. I have Tivo Premiere - the basic model that is usable with HD antenna.

Went from 100% full to 32% memory use. Super easy to install. Just follow the instructions provided in the box and then the instructions on the screen once you get both the Tivo and this hard drive powered up.

The WD My Book AV 1 TB External Hard Drive has been tested to work with the Tivo Premiere. Selecting "System Compatibility" on the following page: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=360 will show you a list of compatible devices under which you will find the Tivo Premiere. We do recommend you to check with your device's manufacturer for the latest information on USB support and functionality.

Not really designed for that. You can get a much better hard drive for backing up data for less money. This is designed specifically for adding space to a DVR

The Bell HD 6131 receiver is not listed as a compatible device with the WD My Book AV. However, you may refer to your system vendor to check on their compatibility list as well.

DVR storage question

We are with DISH network, and have a vip 722k hd dvr which is compatible with this external hard drive. If we connect it to our current dvr, save our movies, and then upgrade to the Hopper, will we be able to connect this hard drive and still keep the movies we have saved?
