Death Angel "Act lll" is Thrash Metal with a twist

Released in 1990, "Act lll" is Death Angel delivering the Thrash Metal with expediency, 'Seemingly Endless Time" and "Stop" gets the Thrash ball rolling. However, this is an album from 1990, it is not to be compared to the no holds barred Thrash Metal attack we heard on Death Angel's 2008 release "The Killing Season". With that said, this is a great album, I really enjoy hearing a band of any Metal genre step outside the box once in awhile. "A Room With A View" is a song that reminds me of what Duran Duran meets Def Leppard would sound like musically. I like the song, yet it is not even light years close to being a Thrash Metal tune. It shows that Death Angel was not afraid to write a song that they wanted, I can absolutely respect that. Musical creativity can coexist with Thrash Metal, Death Angel proves it on "Act lll". Mark Osegueda is vocally spectacular on "Act lll", with the entire band displaying Metal skills that defined Death Angel then and now. I recommend "Act lll" to all Metal fans, especially new Thrash Metal fans who want to hear the very beginning of a very important Thrash band that is doing very well to this day.
The liner notes are 12 pages of complete lyrics, with b&w band photos, credits and music credits.
What's great about it: Mark Osegueda on vocals, lyrics, diversity, Thrash Metal

Released in 2004, "Master Of The Moon" is as powerful and Metal of a Dio album that you will ever listen to. Ronnie James Dio indicates here, that he still has his most incredible and expansive Power Metal vocals. Quite honestly, Dio sounds better than ever! With a new lineup of standout musicians, Dio of 2004 plays Heavy Metal with thunderous intros, atmospheric keyboards and trademark lyrics of personal battles against oneself and ones own demons. Jeff Pilson plays bass with tremendous fluidity and Simon Wright lays down the Metal beats on drums, both are true polished veterans of Metal. Craig Goldy on guitar/keyboards has nestled into his very own signature sound with his leads and riffs, making this album sound current while still establishing the old school sound. Scott Warren on keyboards is superb, no Dio album would be complete without consistent skill as heard here. "Master Of The Moon" never strays away from the Dioesque way of presenting Metal, the mood, atmosphere, imagery, sound and musical entirety is embellished with heavy maturity. "Shivers" is my favorite track here, thundering along with pure Metal groove and lyrics that are melancholy and spooky. "One More For The Road" is the opener that dictates exactly where this album will take you, that is on a heavy and steady Heavy Metal human experience, delivered the Dio way.
The liner notes are absolutely a Metal kick, with complete lyrics, additional artwork, a band photo, one very cool photo of Dio himself, song credits and thank you's.
What's great about it: Dio on vocals, Jeff Pilson on bass, Simon Wright on drums, every song!

Ronnie James Dio was/still is an elite vocalist for Black Sabbath, he is simply majestic at Metal vocals with his solo career as well. Every song here is ramped up Metal that not only showcases Dio's vocals, the musicians that back up Dio are incredible. Vinnie Appice on drums and Vivian Campbell on guitar are true Metal greats. Dio sets the mood for each song, his vocals are what provides the imagery and tempo, always leaving me in awe as I listen to his music. Lyrically, Dio always provides the Metal fantasy with personal triumph and defeat as his subject matter. This CD is essential to buy for all new fans of Dio and Metal. For veteran Dio fans, this CD is perfect with the song list, with having 16 greatest songs. I can never shy away from the greatest hits CD's, especially when you are a serious fan of the artist for so many years. Ronnie James Dio epitomizes every aspect of Heavy Metal!
What's great about it: Ronnie James Dio on vocals, every song, great lyrics! It's Metal!

All I can say about "Loud Fast, Ramones Their Toughest Hits" is that it defines what Punk Rock should sound like. O.K., there are other reasons you should buy this album, the total attitude and feeling of Punk Rock is so evident on all 30 songs. 30 songs!! The Ramones are so historical to Rock N' Roll, they exhibit their 1950's influences in their music and the lyrics are so much fun! Do yourself, a friend or loved one an enormous favor and buy this album! For veteran Ramones fans this is a must addition to your collection, for new fans this makes for an unbelievable introduction into The Ramones Punk Rock world of music. I listen to this album constantly, it reminds me that Punk Rock and The Ramones will always live on through the music! The Ramones never tried to reinvent the wheel, instead they reinvented Rock N' Roll.
What's great about it: Every song, every lyric, Ramones and their legacy of music! 30 songs!!

This was the first live album from Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band and what a live performance it is. "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man", "Katmandu" and "Travelin' Man" are such vintage Rock songs. The energy of these three songs, captured live are enough to get you up and movin'! "Turn The Page" is a song that I can never hear enough, the mood and honesty of the lyrics are stuff of legend. "Beautiful Loser" is just another tremendous hit from this album, the musicianship of The Silver Bullet Band really shines on this one! Every song has it's own story, the lyrics are just as tremendous as the music itself. "Live Bullet" to me, is one of those albums that has made a significant, positive mark on the history of Rock N' Roll.
The liner notes are eight pages of live concert photos of the band with many credits. There are no lyrics in the liner notes.
What's great about it: Great live atmosphere and sound, Bob Seger's vocals, every song, The Silver Bullet Band!

In my opinion, Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band is an American Rock N' Roll treasure. "Nine Tonight" is a live album that is also a greatest hits, based on the song selection. This album was recorded live in June 1980 in Detroit and October 1980 in Boston. Some of Bob Seger's most successful hits are here with "Against The Wind", "Hollywood Nights" and "We've Got Tonight". The good time Rockers are here too, Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band do not disappoint with "The Fire Down Below", "Old Time Rock And Roll" and "Her Strut". Wow, does Bob Seger make these songs really come alive, coupled with Seger's vocals and the excellent musicianship of The Silver Bullet Band. There is just a real, feel good vibe that is going on when you listen to "Nine Tonight". The combination of the songs with their memorable lyrics, plus the live atmosphere definitely provokes a positive Rockin' good time!
The liner notes are eight pages of live concert photos of Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band, along with credits. There are no lyrics in the liner notes.
What's great about it: Quality live recording, a greatest hits of songs - 16 in all!

If you are prodding, looking, searching and asking around for a really great and cool Christmas album to buy, your search is over. Joey Ramone "Christmas Spirit... In My House" is a true gem. The late and legendary Joey Ramone will knock your socks off with his trademark Punk Rock vocals. He had such an easy going delivery with his voice, yet it also contained the required toughness, swagger and Punk attitude that came out so naturally for Joey. "Don't Worry About Me" and "What A Wonderful World" are two classics from Joey Ramone's solo work. "What A Wonderful World" is covered here with remarkable, inspired spirit that flows over you like a wave of Punk Rock joy. These two songs can be enjoyed all year long, heck, this EP is so good I will listen to the Christmas songs all year long too! After you here "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" you will never want to hear another artist sing this song again, Joey Ramone is that incredible here.
Ronnie Spector lends her vocals on "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)", while the great and legendary Marky Ramone is a special guest on "What A Wonderful World". All fans of the Ramones and Punk Rock need to own this EP. Fans of all other Rock genres need to lend an ear to what Joey Ramone created here and add this brilliant work to their music collection for Christmas and the rest of the year too.
What's great about it: Joey Ramone, each song, Marky Ramone guests, the music, music, music!!!

Kiss "Revenge" is an album dedicated by Kiss to the late Eric Carr. The "Carr Jam 1981" is nearly three minutes of Eric Carr being featured with an amazing drum solo which was recorded in 1981. "Domino" is a vintage Gene Simmons song that has the lyrics, attitude and Metal zest that only Gene can pull off. "God Gave Rock N' Roll To You II" is a prolific Kiss Heavy Metal anthem, that is certain to leave an inspired impression on any Metal fan. Paul Stanley sings this song with lot's of heart and soul, the chorus is an instant sing along. Overall this is a solid Kiss album to own, a Kiss lineup that played awesome together and it really shows on "Revenge".
Bruce Kulick played lead guitar and Eric Singer played drums with vocals on "Revenge". The liner notes are 12 pages of complete lyrics with credits and a dedication to Eric Carr. There are two really cool photos of this Kiss lineup in the liner notes as well.
What's great about it: "Carr Jam 1981", formidable Kiss lineup, Gene Simmons on "Domino"

If you are looking for a solid greatest hits of Quiet Riot, "Super Hits" is it. You are getting the most famous Quiet Riot hits ever with "Metal Health (Bang Your Head)", "Mama Weer All Crazee Now" and "Slick Black Cadillac". Plus, you get to hear deeper album cuts and relatively not so popular Quiet Riot songs that really rock. "Condition Critical" and "Don't Wanna Let You Go" are two great examples of Quiet Riot delivering catchy tunes, that never really hit the airwaves. "Don't Wanna Be Your Fool" and "Sign Of The Times" are two more strong Metal tunes that will surprise new listeners. The late Kevin DuBrow had his unique vocals that are so signature of Quiet Riot and their total sound. The extremely catchy riffs, ripping guitar leads and stomping bass & drums are what made these songs so cool. Melodic with a tough attitude, the songs are geared to psych you out and deliver a good time. Quiet Riot was the very first Heavy Metal band to hit #1 on the album charts in 1983 with "Metal Health", single handily they revolutionized the Heavy Metal genre by creating mainstream respect for this music. "Metal Health" went on to sell 6 million albums! Rudy Sarzo on bass, Carlos Cavazo on guitar and the great Frankie Banali on drums round out this historic Metal band that has and always will command my musical and Metal respect. You are getting great Metal music, value and a historic Metal band to add to your music collection with Quiet Riot "Super Hits".
The liner notes are song credits and contain two paragraphs of Quiet Riot info. There are no lyrics in the liner notes.
What's great about it: Great song selection, originators of '80's Hair Metal, "Metal Health (Bang Your Head)"

Every time I listen to Molly Hatchet "Greatest Hits" I get positively pumped and put into the best of moods. The Southern Rock crunch of Molly Hatchet coupled with the back roads feel of all their music will never be matched by any band today. Molly Hatchet, in my opinion, was the heaviest Southern Rock band of their day. They treaded the fine line of Metal later in their career with "Satisfied Man" and "Shake The House Down". Early in Molly Hatchet's catalog of music, "The Creeper" made it known instantly that this band was playing heavy and for keeps! This song off of their debut album "Molly Hatchet" is bass heavy and the guitar work slams it down! The signature heaviness of Molly Hatchet is also linked to the unique lead vocals. The tough as nails vocals you will hear are from Danny Joe Brown and Jimmy Farrar. Both vocalists were so similar in their attitude and make no mistake Southern Hard Rock delivery. The FM radio hits of the late '70's and early '80's are all here, with "Flirtin' With Disaster", "Beatin' The Odds", and the lengthy guitar driven masterpieces "Dreams I'll Never See" and "Fall Of The Peacemakers".
I have never, ever, heard such incredible guitar jamming in my life like I hear with Molly Hatchet. This band legitimized guitar jamming and put it on the map! This is the ultimate "Greatest Hits" you will find from Molly Hatchet. Give the Hatchet a try and you will be hooked for life! The liner notes are eight pages. Two pages are devoted to a summary history of Molly Hatchet, along with four cool band photos and song/album credits.
What's great about it: 15 songs! "The Creeper", unique Rock sound, every track Rocks!
