Amazing Guide Does Not Cover Up Its Flaws

The 4th Generation Tablo is a neat OTA DVR with positive notes and also negatives that keep me wanting more but will never be with the hardware being limited. After opening the box and reading the directions, I added the Tablo to my current OTA Antenna, which is powered, and started the setup via my Android Phone. I did download the newest app as well with the Dark Blue background, not the older one, that is not compatible with the 4th gen Tablo.
Here is where issue number one started, I had over 3 hours on the first day trying to get the app to connect to my Tablo. I reset the app multiple times through the backend of the phone, uninstall and re-installed multiple time and still nothing. I gave up and walked away thinking this was a dead in the water. The next day I came back to it and all of a sudden the app finally loaded and found the Tablo. I set the app to start scanning the channels and was pleasantly surprised at the 77 channels found, this is more than the attanae did alone, but, without a huge negative spree.
The Channels that came through were new but I was missing 2 major networks, I unplug from my attannae and they come back. Secondly, I went from having ATSC 3.0 Tuner in my TV with 4K from Fox and CBS to a ATSC 1.0Tuner from Tablo and only seeing 1080P on CBS and 720P on multiple old 1080 stations and plenty of 480P which used to be 720P. The unit is downgrading my signal to the tv units, why this was not a main focus on the Tablo 4th Gen, I don't know, but it does not make for a comfortable purchase knowing my quality is worse.
Now, How do I combat this so I can still use the amazing DVR with one heck of a channel guide, the best channel guide yet? I have 2 outputs from my attanae so one is now used solely for the Tablo and the other for my tv to get the 4K content from my Hisense U8H ATSC 3.0 Tuner. With the move to ATSC 3.0, Tablo in my eyes failed to future proof only making their market share smaller to try and wait to make us buy another unit in 2 years, that is what I see happening and will only drive consumers away in the end.
So, with that information being said, here are my Pros and Cons of the 4th Gen Tablo DVR.

In the end, it deserves 2.5 stars, 3 stars at best if someone is using an older ATSC 1.0 TV, but, Tablo missed the mark for myself on this unit.

Fast Performance in a PC too!

The Crucial P5 Plus Gaming Solution is a Gen4 NVMe M.2 PCIe SSD drive that will out perform any other SSD in its price range, period. I have a nicely built gaming PC that already used another 2TB Gen 4 SSD from a main competitor and my motherboard had an open slot for more room. At the price point of the Crucial P5 Plus, it was a no brainer to choose the brand when upgrading the available space on the PC for more gaming.
The Crucial P5 clams a Read speed of 6,600 MB/s and a Write speed of 5,000 MB/s and I was not expecting to find at this price, the claims to be so true. After install, I did a read and write test once the drive was setup and compared it to the other "W" brand drive I already use. I will say, both have integrated heat sinks and at the same Gen 4x4 NVMe specs, just the size and brand are different.
The Following are actual test results using CrystalDisk Mark
Crucial P5 - Sequential Read 6746 / Sequential Write 4986

The Crucial Brand wins the Read/Write speed test hands down in my book. I then decided to transfer one of my Sim racing games over to the P5 to test performance and watch the monitors I have setup to try and catch errors, heat issues and any glitches. After 5 hours straight racing in a LeMans race, the drive never exceeded the max temps the "W" brand showed in the past and I never had any issues whatsoever.
Using the Crucial Brand instead of the other has shown me names mean nothing, look at the total package. The only downside to the Crucial is the way it looks, the heat sink is pretty blah with the logo very prominent, it is not as eye pleasing in my case but it does not make me want to buy another brand, just hope they maybe think about a little darker lettering or maybe just the name on the front.
All in all, the Crucial P5 Plus is a great SSD and I plan in the future adding more Crucial products when upgrading one of my 7 PCs in the house.

It Works When it Wants Too

The TERK Rechargeable 6-Device Backlit Universal Remote is aimed to be your total remote but falls short tremendously compared to another remote I use for my home system. The remote has features like backlighting, light weight and is rechargeable, along with being easy to program but the 2 main things that make me dislike this remote already made me go back to my old remote.
The device is decent, the shape is easy to hold, even my little kids can use it. The lightweight of it is awesome as well, one of the reasons it got a star, the other is no more batteries until it no longer holds a charge and is useless. The reasons for the missing 3 stars all comes down to execution of holding the correct codes and settings to keep them working in unison.
I set the remote for my Bose soundbar over 10 times in 2 days, it would not save it after I used it one time, that made the first strike. Next came up the Roku, this remote it bar far more worse than the Roku remote, you have to make sure the sensor is aimed right at the Roku, the original remote does not, that is minus 20 stars for me. My Hisense TV does not like anything about this remote, multiple keys do nothing that should, trying all the codes, no volume control, no menu, no mute, no input change and the power button does not register 90 percent of the time.
I could go on and on, but, you get the point. I do not know if I got a bad one or if my electronics are just not compatible with it, but it now sits in a basket while my 5 year old H brand remote still works and works perfectly on my 2023 Hisense TV I bought at Best Buy.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Addition To My Simplisafe System

I have been a 8 year user of Simplisafe and the reason why is right here, new products that work and work perfect every single time. I will always be a Simplisafe user due to the absolute ease of use and installation of every product they sell to use with their system.
The camera was a legit 2 minute install and register within the Simplisafe app, boom, new inside camera to watch the basement door incase someone tries to enter through the basement by breaking out the glass block, a traditions glass break sensor wont grab that noise, I tested it, so, the camera is now our protection.
The video quality is fantastic, better than many plug and play cameras at Best Buy and loads in the app within seconds since their last update to the Android app. Simplisafe also has one of the best teams when you have issues or questions, I called after setting up the camera to ask if my dog would set this one off like my old Arlo indoor and they said no, it will not, and they are correct!
Simplisafe is a great company, afordable, and the BEST and easiest DIY alarm system by far, you will not be disapointed.

The Escort Maxcam 360C Radar Detector and Dash Cam combo is a great concept, it just lacks some updates and a better app package for the Android atmosphere of phones. Yes, the unit does great at detecting radar and the camera is fantastic, but the amount of time to get the app connected and working properly made me want to throw it out the window.
The newer tech of the MAXcam 360c is great, compared to my old Escort, there are many more options added when it comes to modes, but I always go back to the auto settings and let it rip.The app is honestly the biggest shortfall for myself, and being a techy, it should not be this hard to update a radar detector. I had almost 4 hours getting the app to see my WiFi and the unit to update it, it constantly would say no internet connection. After I figured out a way to connect back and forth on WiFi settings in my S23 quicker, it finally updated.
The radar detector works great, picks up from long distances without issue and has honestly saved me plenty going back and forth to the hospital over the last month to see my wife then rush home to feed my kids and then back to the hospital. The camera works great as well except in sunny conditions where glare takes over and you cannot see a thing, my old dash cam did not have this issue. The video quality is great at 1440 at 30 fps, I can watch it perfectly on my phone but fails often when downloading it to my phone, this is a huge annoyance as well.
And last, Escort, it is time to go to a USB-C power connector, these phone cord connectors are just not it imo, much better options with solid mounting and power hard wiring with USB-C and integrating into aftermarket high end stereos for alerts and using the camera to record to another device for blogging.
With some upgrades including lighter weight components, this would be a 5 star product but at the price point now, they are simply too expensive for the old style and the app.

Works Great in Vehicles that can supprt it.

The Rexing 78W vehicle quick charger works great and is fast charging if your device and vehicle can suport it. My GM vehicle fro 2018 suported the draw needed for the fast charger to work, my 2018 Ram product does not.
When pulling out our of the box, I instantly noticed the quality of the charger, something I have noticed Rexing passing attention too over the past few years using their products. This is not a "Cheapo" company at all and is up there with other top tier brands that we all use for small electronics. I use multiple Rexing car mirror kits for recording and never have an issue.
On to the testing, i first went to my 2018 Ram product and tried to use this with a S21+ Ultra, S23+ Ultra, Tab 7s and a Chromebook for the USB-C and not one had power. I then tested the exact same lineup in my 2018 GM and every device charged at some rate. The S21+ Ultra would not fast charge but the S23+ Ultra and the others would, found it odd.
I then moved onto the USB-A snd again,y Ram would not charge a device, the 2018 GM charged them all. I do not know why the Ram will not give it the needed power but obviously Ram has some type of safety integrated.
Charging speeds where all great, fast charging was really good, standard was as well. No noises or humming with feedback through the stereo, that was nice to see, some brands do.
I only gave it 4 stars because it does not sense the power draw issue with Ram and lower the need, for the proce point, i think it should be able to do this.
I do recommend this though, I will continue to use it in the GM.

This Bottle is Fire!!!!

The Ember Baby Bottle Smart System is that, a easy to use yet feature packed bany bottle for the easiest travel and night time bottle ever!
Once I pulled the bottle, the smart base and all the accessories out of the box, I felt the quality of materials and the solid feel immediately. This made the proce tag seem less "sticker shockish."
I made sure to instantly start charging the base so I can get the first use right away. I made sure to clean the bottle thoroughly but there was no unusual oils or smell.

After setting up an account and connecting the base to the app, the fun starts with learming about tracking feedings, down to how much your baby drinks. The bix also included multiple nipples for different age kids, along with adapters for most common nipples available at any corner store. The box also includes a thermal dome cover which does very well at holding the bottle to body temp for a long time.
The bottle heats up very quickly yet not too fast that it burns the formula, just nice body temp formula or heated breast milk without microwaves or a stove. Have a day trip? You have 2 heat cycles before you need to plug it in, luckily, we have many ways to charge in both our cars so we can keep it charged up.
After a solid week with this bottle, we are super happy with it and is saving us time and the baby always gets perfect temp formula for her sensitive tummy. She also LOVES the Ember nipples, we are having an issue with her taking others now so we have to order extra nipples and an extra bottle. She is 3 months old and the shape if the bottle she is easily holding onto it while i support it with one hand as well, it seems balanced for her. Being able to track her feesing is one of the main reasons for wanting this bottle. She was born with a health issue and we have to track her feedings to a T for the mesications to work properly, this makes life so much easier.
Thanks Ember for a great bottle, the crazy part is we named her Ember, its one of the reasons we chose the bottle when we could.

These Logitech G Pro x2 with Lightspeed technology is the best wireless gaming headphones I have personally tested and owned.
Opening up the well laid out box, I was greeted with the quality headphones with soft vinyl earpads installed, a soft set if earpads, a charging cable, carry bag, microphone and more.
The included USB dpngle is a MUST when using with the heaphones for speed, I was able to hear and see a differences between the built in BT of the PC and using the included dongle from Logitech, sometimes up to a full second thw sound was differing from the mouth or action.
This was not as prevelant when paired with my Android Phone with the latest BT tech, my PC is not old but the motherboard is 3 years old already.

The sound is amazing, especially when setup for Dolby Atmos with supporting games for it. The sound is very realistic and on point with direction, my $400 set of headhones that are wired are barely better in any sound category with the bass going to these Logitech. Yes, real bass, not over processed and fake bass that ruins the experience.
The quick add/remove microphone is perfect for streamers, most of us have a separate mic, but, I can admit, the sound from this mic is great for any gamer and could be used for streaming with a proper sound equalization setup.

little footprint BIG COOLING

The Insignia 14 Bottlr Wine cooler/refrigerator is a great addition to my bar. We decided to use it for wine on the bottom and the two top shelves are for the enegry and juice drinks for our mixed beverages.
The Cooler came is a nice, easy to open box with it ready to plug in. Size is perfect for and small corner or end of a bar. It holds 14 full size wine bottles or whatever else and keeps it at 38 degrees. It is not loud at all, which is great, had a very small hum like any refrigerator does, it would be great for a bedroom drink holder as well.

The cooler includes 2 upper and 1 lower stainless steel rack for easy cleaning if a bottle or 2 were to leak. The smooth inside is an easy to clean surface as well. I place on using a few decals and a led light to make the glass window flow with some eye candy on the bar.
And for anyone looking to know, it gets cold very quickly, it was at 38 degrees from the 73 baseline in 1 hour and 12 minutes. Sound dBs while running at 10 ft is 31 dB, at 5 is 37dBs.
Grab this cooler/refrigerator, for the money and the great looks, it is an easy buy..

Great Beginner Wheel and Pedal Setup!

The Thrustmaster T128 Racing Wheel and Pedal package is a steal at retail price and I am going to tell you why I feel that way. I was able to compare this wheel to my 2 current setuos which include the Thrustmaster T300 Ferrari setup and a mid-tier direct drive wheel setup with a very expemsive pedal setup.
First, install is easy with the desk clamp if you do not have a sim rig like myself. I tested this wheel in both my sim rig and attached to my kids desk where it still stays as they now have their own wheel amd pedal setup. I also found the Thrustmaster 3 pedal setup from my T300 plugs in and works great as well as the Thrustmaster Shifter. Knowing the T129 uses/accepts many of the TM add ons is a hige positive as you can upgrade as your budget allows.
First, the steering wheel, it is a great piece of hardware for what you pay. Is it anywhere near Direct Drive? No, because in drifting and hard racing cknditions with a lot of jumps or bumpy race tracks, i was able to may the wheel slip off axis multiple times. Please take into consideration, I sim race for more than a hobby, I race series against very good drivers across the world in many games.
The wheel performs fantastic for what it is though, the kids can actually race against me now from the backup sim PC and they have yet to complain as they are used to only using the T300.

The T129 has some dead zones towards TDC of the wheel, it feels like I have to turn a little early so the wheel knows to start the turn in time and start exiting turns and apexs a little early as well. The Force Feedback is ok, nowhere near the Direct Drive wheel but on par with the T300, really not that far different, the T300 is just stronger.
Sexond, the pedals are good enough for the kids, not for me. Yes, the magnetic sensors are much better now than the earlier styke 2 pedal setup from TM, like night and day, but, they are not linear at all when tested. At 10% throttle, measured with a ruler, I was showing 16%, 50 was 52% and 100% did get 100%. Do they work, yes, they do, and do just fine for beginners and kids.
Make sure to download the TM software to setup and update the wheel and pedals as well, it can save you a ton of headaches.
I highly recommend this setup for any beginner or any kid out there on a birthday budget
