SimpliSafe is Simply the Best

I love SimpliSafe and have since 2017, that is the reason I upgraded my system by choosing the 17pc kit and even added 2 sirens and an extra key pad and multiple smoke detectors and the Co2 detector as well. The reason I stick with SimpliSafe is ease, ease of install, ease of setup, ease on my wallet and puts my mind at ease every day.
When you receive your box of parts, the easy to follow instructional videos on YouTube are all you need to watch, then, take the 30 minutes at most to setup your entire home. The way you register each item and can name them and just stick and go for the most part is so easy. The cameras are the hardest to setup and still only takes a few minutes each.
The keypads are nice as always and have a proximity sensor and knows when you are about to touch it and it lights up, pretty neat if you ask me, nice upgrade to the gen 1 setup for sure. The panic button is nice to have, I installed it near the bedrooms so anyone can run out of a room and hit it easily. Each window and door sensor is so easy to instal, peel and stick, done. The glass break sensors are great for basements as they usually have non opening windows so this is a viable option to protect your basement for being the point of entry when you are sleeping. The keychain buttons are nice but would never actually leave the house with it, someone could hold you up and use the buttons to get into your home where your kids are, I decided to use it with guests or my pet sitter, if they are scheduled, they will get the key fob for that week or few days we are away.
The cameras are nice, both with great 1080p pictures and the outdoor one looks great even at night with the built in spot light. The cameras take a few minutes to setup, once done, it is easy and they are fast at picking up movement and sending my phone a notification of the movement. I will say the app is a little slow at connecting to the cameras to view them live, sometimes taking well over 45 seconds, my other cameras take less than 5 seconds from anywhere, SimpliSafe NEEDS to fix this to be considered a top tier Camera service addition. I love the cameras but that is a huge hit to me and is why I knocked it down to 4.5 stars even though it shows 5 stars.
If SimpliSafe fixes the camera app issue for Android and makes it connect within 5 seconds, this would be a 5 star only review, you would not find a better all around security system period, they would be the only market choice.

Great Program with a little Footprint

The McAfee+ Premium program is working great so far on all 4 of my Daughters lap tops for school plus my phone. Being I have 4 daughters and 3 of 4 are gamers like most kids today, I wanted a software that can protect them all around for school and gaming plus just surfing the web. I have used other free software and it works decent but McAfee+ comes in strong and cleans up the leftovers from the others.
I ran the new McAfee+ on all their laptops and all came back with old issues the other software I used missed including many trojan and tracking issues. Knowing we are still finding issues on the laptops is scary as the other software I used was marketed as free for residential with the strength of a corporate account. What this shows me is their either lying to use our laptops for Beta growth into the main program or their corporate customers are getting hit with a lot of left over issues.
I have to bring up the VPN as well, and it is decent for what my kids need when not gaming. For normal school and web use, I am making them run the VPN and they said it is fine, but as soon as they try to game with a competitive style FPS, they are losing because their ping is usually in the 110 range with the VPN, without it is under 30 ping every time. So, I have to say, the McAfee+ VPN is definitely not gamer friendly.
I did run the Identity Cleanup for all my kids, obviously there was no issues there. I did setup their laptops with a password manager within McAfee+, this is going to save me tons of headaches in itself, so far, it works and works great.
And to talk about the title, the program uses very small amount of space compared to most others and runs cleanly in the background rarely seeing over 1% CPU usage unless running an in-depth scan.
I am super happy with the McAfee+ Premium program, I will most likely stay with McAfee after this experience with them.

Mirrorless Quality Photo at a Price You Can Afford

The Canon EOS R10 is a great camera with a few quirks but those quirks do not take away this is a 5 star camera in every way. The market needed a budget/beginner mirrorless camera and Cannon stepped up big time. We used this camera as a backup at a wedding and the photos the Canon put out were almost the same as my Sony Mirrorless with a comparable lens. Now, the lens included with the Canon is decent, it leaves a lot on the table compared to most but the only people that matters to is artists that need top tier photos for use on sites for stock photos or high end photographers.
My wife and I already run a small sports and wedding photography business and we wanted a nice backup and a dedicated 4K video source other than GoPro cameras. The pictures themselves are great with this lens but have a tendency to be a little soft on the edges, making it noticeable when blown up large or trying to use it as a stock photo. The lens is the culprit, not the camera, I found this once I used an adapter and put my expensive lens on the camera and besides losing auto focus with the adapter, the camera showed what it can really do which is nothing short of great photos with crisp edges and beautiful colors.
The video is fantastic with the stock lens, perfect for family time, blogs and vlogs, and even sporting events, we tried it at a local ATV race and the video was great in 4K but in 1080P, we were pleasantly surprised with the FPS and the ability in post edit to slow it way down for epic slow motion shots for YouTube and other social media. Also, the ability to adjust your shutter speed when your ISO is on Auto is killer for an entry level camera, not the norm for most others out there at this price point. This is huge is sports and faster moving situations but does lack IBIS, so use of a gimbal is a huge positive with the R10.
The camera does use older tech batteries, this is a must to know. The battery life does go fast but batteries are cheap and plentiful because it is not the newer style. We already have cameras that used the same battery which gave us a huge positive thumbs up from us, did not have to spend more money to upgrade.
The best thing Canon did on the R10, they designed the battery to be changed out easily as is the memory card on a tripod base. The side door is still easily opened when the tripod base is on, that is a great design aspect.
Overall, we are very happy with the Canon R10, so far, this is making us look good with amazing photos on a budget.

This lock is by far the best I have owned!

Eufy has knocked it out of the park with this one! I currently use 3 other brands for my shop or house and I needed a better setup for the front door having 4 daughters that lose keys all the time. Enter Eufy, my savior when it comes to smart door locks, this device is king in a market of many peasants.
Lets get into why it is so good in my opinion along with my 5 women in the household. First, I have to bring up te packaging, it is well put together and everything you need is in there, not one piece of hardware is needed, just a phllips screwdriver and about 10 minutes unless you needs to drill holes, I already had a deadbolt to replace. The lock is beyond well built, the heft is not something I see someone easily breaking through or off the door, this is one huge positive. The battery is also large and charges decently fast and you even have a battery backup plug from the front in case the battery dies, a power-bank or charging cable from an outside socket will have you right in if you do not have a key.
Setup through the Android app is simple and works well once you realize the app cannot take the barcode, it will not focus and we tried on 4 android devices, so we used the manual input and boom, instantly found and ready to setup and programming. I was able to add all my kids with their own 4 to 8 digit code, I made them use all 8 along with their fingerprints. The fingerprint setup is so simple and work 100% of the time. The sensor for the print is very sensitive and with the fastest touch you are right in the door. We also have had roughly 20 other people try to use their fingers and it is always a no go, this makes me feel great having it on my front door. If you are using the codes only, they work flawlessly as well. You can also lock and unlock the door via the app, Google and Alexa if you want the full smart house experience.
The doorbell that comes with the lock is loud and works every time as well, and it is loud enough that we put in central in the house and we can hear it in almost every room, cannot complain about that one bit. The doorbell button is also removable to find the backup kep lock behind it, nice little touch there Eufy, cleans up the look 10 fold against the competition.
Now the Camera is great and clear with great day or night time video. The 2K or basically 1440P resolution is plenty good for any door camera, and with the local storage with the included memory card, you cannot get any better, NO monthly fees ever with the Eufy Smart Lock. The Mic works well too, I can hear all sounds recorded without issue, it all comes through clear and smooth.
I will be replacing all the other smart locks in my house with this exact Eufy model over the next six months as I free up funds, the fact it works and works so well, I feel better having 5 women protected a little more in my home. Great Job Eufy!

This Controller makes this Xbox Guy Happy

The MGC Switchplate controller for the Nintendo Switch is my savior for when I am playing against the kids on their Switch. I am personally an Xbox guy and love the Xbox controller feel, the Switch controllers are junk imo and makes it miserable for myself to play with the kids. Enter the Switchplate Wireless controller from MGC, it is now the only way I can play the Nintendo Switch with my kids.
The feel of the controller in my hands is great, smaller than the Xbox but the same overall shape makes it sit well in my hands and I can adjust mentally within a minute or two of playing for the size difference but the feel is there. I can now play for hours with the kids on a rainy or snowy day and not have them win every game, now it is dads turn.
The kids also love the controller, they all say it is much better and an overall more enjoyable time playing using the Switchplate controller. We all said the buttons feel great and are accurate, no random movements or over powered movements, the input feels very true to what you would expect from a full joystick controller. From Mortal Combat to Mario Kart, the controller works flawlessly with all tested games for the review and simply feels great in my hands.
The white plate looks great but the black just looks better in my opinion, white just gets dirty anyways but if you buy 2, now you can know which controller is which without question.
If you are looking for a full featured controller for yourself or a child, this is a perfect alternative to the Nintendo Branded controllers or the stick controllers, especially if you come from Xbox.

A Mic that Deserves a Listen Too

I have used a very expensive mic for streaming since 2017 and wanted to compare my XLR 3 pin setup that runs through a midi convertor against a USB mic. When asked to review the Razer Seiren V2 Pro, the first thing I checked was if it was USB, I wanted this so I can possibly remove the midi controller. Well, guess what, the midi is disconnected and the Razer Seiren V2 is now my main source of recording sound for my stream with my wife.
Together, my wife and I stream us gaming and just talking about life and the world news, things we see or people we talk too and we have fun. The setup she uses is another brand as well that is a 3.5mm mic and hers always sounds great but again, we have to use an adapter cable and straight USB would make using OBS that much easier.
After the easy setup through the Razer software, connecting it to OBS was super simple and worked right away without an issue. After a one hour stream, we went back through and listened for any feedback, outside noise, muffling, and just straight quality checks. I can honestly say the sound is great and can easily be adjusted as well. There is an adjustable gain on the mic and I found for my deep and loud voice I was able to run it low, about 25% and my voice sounds natural and not overpowered at all.
With my wife 5 feet from me, there was also zero mic feedback between us and no cross sound, this was a huge benefit and I loved that this worked the way it did. Now, I do have to bring up the sound was much better the 2nd time around for noise cancelling when I put the mic on the mic boom and was able to put the mic closer to my face rather than sit on the desk. I really believe the mic sitting on the desk even with the vibration resistant bottom still picks up vibrations and sound reflecting from the desk surface. If you want the upmost professional sound, put it on a mic boom are, mine was about $65 from Best Buy.
The High Pass filter does work, the low hum of the van in the background is no longer heard through the Razer Seiren V2 but you can through my wife's, so we will be updating hers as well. The Mic also has a built in mute button if you do not have a quick key setup but I use a quick key through OBS so it is not used for myself but it is there.
I am very happy with this Mic, the sound is clear, not as good as my expensive mic but because of the noise cancellation alone, I will be using the Razer Seiren V2 Pro as my daily mic going forward because the sound difference to 99% of the listeners will not tell a difference in my voice but will have a better listening experience without the unwanted background noises.
I recommend you or anyone try this mic before buying an expensive Midi setup mic for streaming.

Take a Bite out of Back Pain with the Venom 2

The Hyperice Venom 2 back massager with heat is one high-tech unit with only two weak points, as a whole, it is the choice to get in 2022.
To start, the product itself was very well packaged with a dedicated charger, instructions and a few other pieces of paperwork. Upon opening the box, I found the Venom 2 ready to be used, not a full charge but ready out of the box. I did not try it on until I charged it to 100% and setup the unit with the Hyperice Android App.
Here is issue number one, the app setup, tons of time getting the Bluetooth to work. I spent an hour trying everything and even contacted customer support about it via chat and they left me hanging, after 20 plus minutes, I had to go and did not get one response after the chat representative said he'll be right back.
I was able to finally get it to connect on my Android device by restarting the phone, turning off Bluetooth, open the Hyperice app, turn on Airplane Mode, then turn it off and turn on Bluetooth. All of a sudden the device connected to the phone and I could use it. The reason this is a huge issue and deducts a half star is the point they know of the issue and have for a while with older products, Hyperice needs to fix this and fix their Customer Device too.

Once the Venom 2 was connected, I was ready to try it on and let'er rip. The Venom 2 has 3 heat levels and 3 vibration cycles. The 3 heat levels are delightful and powerful along with being super fast to heat up. I turned on the heat and set it to low and within 10 seconds I felt the heat on my back, to me that is insanely fast. The low is perfect and mid is great as well, not going to lie, the high is really hot, almost too excessive for myself and my wife. When I cycled through the massage, all 3 patterns are amazing, but the constant on is the best, soothing every muscle it vibrates for an enjoyable time for sure after work. The 2nd issue enters here though, the strength is not adjustable on the device or app, it is strong and for my wife that weighs nothing, she said it's too much after a while. Overall, all 3 modes of massage are great, they just need an update to allow the intensity to be adjusted or make your own pattern of massage.
Charging is fast and lasts a long time, I had over 2 hours of heat and massage and still had time left. The only thing is you have to turn the massage on after 10 minutes when it times out. Not a huge issue, this helps for sure when you fall asleep with it on, it is needed.
Overall, great design, just needs the app issues taken care of and some more adjustability in the app or on the device. If it has it, someone show me where or they need better instructions and an easier app to find the adjustments. Also, they should have included a zip carry case that holds the charger, the Venom 2 cost enough a small bag that is less than $2 to be made in China in bulk would have been a nice addition to the package with a cool Hyperice logo on it.
Great job Hyperice, just fine tune it and you have a #1 product on the market. The app is a decent app as a whole, just needs the Bluetooth fixed as every time I have to utilize the Airplane Mode to get the Venom 2 to connect.

This is why I switched to Bose!

I used to be a huge audio junkie when it came to my movies, utilizing a 5.1 then 7.1 setup with huge towers and subwoofer to enjoy the sound but with one major drawback, the size footprint. Enter in Bose back in 2019 into my home with the Soundbar 700 and 700 Bass Module, it was the start of my downsizing in my living room.
When I received the Bose Smart Soundbar 600, I was pleasantly surprised with it including HDMI, Power, and Optical Fiber Sound Cables along with a small remote. Luckily I already had all these run so the plug and play was less than 1 minute and I was hearing the great sound. The Unit powers on in 3 different ways including the HDMI ARC option, remote power and my favorite is the power on by Optical Fiber option. Yes, that is right, now the unit will power on as soon as the TV sends an audio signal through the optical cable, this is the cats a** right here and I have to say hats off to Bose for allowing this as an option in the app.
I love the 700 setup so much much but there was always one thing I was unhappy about and now that is all gone with the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 Series. You may be wondering why and the 100% reason, the 700 was lacking to me is the 600 now has ATMOS support! YES!!! Now I can honestly say, Bose is absolutely killing it with the Atmos added, the sound is that much more correct in my home compared to a movie theater, nothing will replace the movie theater in my mind but man is this close. Dolby Atmos is the most used format and seems to be the choice going forward by almost all movie production companies and I can hear why, the sound from the 600 is amazing when watching an action packed movie in Dolby Atmos yet traditional Dolby sound is still great and actually beats the 700 in all sound aspects.
How can I say it is that close? Bose did that good of a job with the audio design of this subwoofer even the bass is great for being so small. As you can see compared to my Bose 700 soundbar, the 600 is almost 12 inches smaller and puts out much better sound including 10 fold better bass. Want more bass you ask? You Bet!! How? Get yourself a Bose Subwoofer, my 700 Bass Module connected right up to it within the Bose Music App on my Android Device. We will get to the app later.
Now, for the overall sound, the highs are crisp and not overbearing even at the highest level. The mid levels are clean and soft, no hard sounds that make the audio fake, just pure sound like the movie producers wanted you to hear. The bass is clean, not hitting to low, if fades off about 45 HZ and is plenty for almost all movies but when the jets are flying in the best movie of 2022, it kills it with all around sound and brings joy to my face and will yours as well.
Once I added the 700 Bass Module to the mix, BOOM, now we are at the movies. The bass mixed with the new 600 soundbar is something to be heard. Bose back in the 90s and really before 2015 always had unusual muffled sound and the bass was always weak and the mid levels honestly stunk. Whoever Bose hired to start changing the way they sound has made me a believer in their products, simple as that. I next want to test the 700 Series Satellite speakers with this soundbar, Hey Bose, you have a test set I can borrow? Call Me, LOL.
Now, the Bose Music App, tis is the best app yet from Bose, Period! Why, because it works and worked perfectly. I cannot say how the voice commands work yet as they are not enabled at this time and are supposed to be at launch, and if it goes as well as the rest of this test, I see it working perfectly. On to the best part of this app, the audio control. The app my 700 uses is very outdated and minimal adjustments, just center volume and bass level. The new Bose Music App that works with the 600 series is by far superior, allowing full audio control with the High, Height, and Low Levels along side with the Center and Bass levels. The Bass level along with the 700 Bass Module, I can adjust the bass accordingly for all movies and music very easily. The Wall EQ is nice, I wave used it being close to the wall and it does sound different but I enjoy the traditional better. Dialog mode is decent, I actually found it works the best on YouTube channels that are talking most of the time but I have mainly left it off, we want the full experience.
You can see the different in the new 600 on top of the old 700 in the pictures below. My wife and I both will be moving the 700 to our bedroom and keeping the 600 in our main family room because we are that much happier with it. If Bose comes out with a larger unit with Atmos, that is going to be hard not to want it.

I can say this is simply the happiest I have been with a new product in a long time, Bose simply is improving with every new product and in todays world that is unusual and I cannot pass up being a part of the Bose community as they grow.

Refreshingly Cold on Hot Days

This Frigidaire three in one portable air conditioner is one of the best I have put to use in my home yet. I traditionally buy window units when they go bad every few years, this is a welcome replacement. The biggest advantage to using this portable setup is I can leave the screen in the windows, so NO BUGS!! My wife and I have 4 daughters and they are wimps when it comes to bugs, oh, who am I kidding, so is my wife. This setup keeps all those critters outside and keeps your area cooler due to having less issues with leaking as well due to this design.
The 3 in one setup is great especially with the "Dehumidifying Dry Mode", this is a HUGE plus living in a high humidity area. The Dry Mode feature helps with making the room more comfortable by removing the excess humidity in the air when cooling so you do not have that heavy air and moisture that makes you sweat when the heat rises on super hot days. The Ion Air Purifier is a great addition as well with our actual purifier, I have noticed our expensive purifier actually runs less now showing the air conditioner is actually working.
The is also an air filter that is for collecting dust to help keep the unit cleaner for many more years of service and your home as well. The air filter is washable, this is a plus, no ongoing maintenance costs which is a huge positive for all consumers.\
The included remote works great but the Alexa and Google Assistant are 10 times better in my opinion. I was able to setup schedules with my Google Assistant to turn it on 30 minutes before I get home so I can walk into a cool living room to take a 10 minute break after a hot shop all day. I can also tell it when I want it turned off and it takes care of it, this is one more step of home automation right here.
The power of this unit is rated at 12k BTU with a 550 sq ft space of cooling power. My downstairs living room, dining room and kitchen are 727 sq ft and it keeps it all cooled at 75 degrees on a 90 degree day without issue, so the rating is well under what it can actually do and that is with 9 ft ceilings. Also, all this cooling power with the sound of a hair dryer next door, it is very quiet compared to a window unit, no issues with sleeping, napping or watching TV with this unit.
Frigidaire knocked it out of the park with this unit, I cannot speak about how long it will last but I am very pleased so far.

This is a the God of Foods, it destroys everything at the flip of a switch! The Smart Choice Garbage Disposal has 1.25 horsepower of stainless steel blade turning destruction.
I already had a 15 year old disposal on its way out so it was time to upgrade. Install was unfortunately for me not a quick swap, I ended up having to bring in a plumber to redo everything, my hopes were dashed but at least it was not too expensive to have everything updated to todays codes as well.
The motor is quiet, like whisper quiet compared to my old unit. We have 6 of us in the house and my kids are horrible about throwing everything in the sink instead of scraping it out in the trash first, Well, know this, the 1.25 hp motor with take on whatever your kids throw down there, including a plastic knife, found that out already,
I did try out the small chicken bone size it says it can pulverize and yes, it does with ease just a little raise up noise during that. Normal everyday foods like noodles, veggies, fruit peels and more are just zero match for the power of the Smart Choice disposal. Waterflow is still good with this unit, making the draining of your sink just as fast without it, my left and right sinks drain exactly the same speed with this disposal, my old one did not.
The warranty of this unit is another great feature, most do not have much of anything in the way of warranties, Smart Choice stands behind their products from what I have read, making the purchase a "Smart Choice."
I highly recommend this Smart Choice 1.25 horsepower disposal, to may you cannot beat the quality, the power or the value in total when looking for a food pulverizing unit of destruction like the Smart Choice!
