Enjoy brilliant color and sound with this Panasonic Ultra HD Blu-ray player. The chroma processing technology maximizes the color of 4K/HDR content, and the 7.1-channel audio output produces lifelike surround sound when connected to a home audio system. The color signals received by this Panasonic Ultra HD Blu-ray player are upgraded to produce natural textures and depth.

Best Option for The Money!

Took advantage of the purchasing it when it was on sale to replace my Sony X800M2, which recently stopped working after only a few years of very light use (of course outside of warranty). Did a lot of research before buying the Sony and it seemed like the right balance of cost and performance, but I was actually somewhat annoyed and disappointed with several aspects of it, even before it bricked for no apparent reason. The menu was bare bones and ugly, the whole user experience felt cheap, and the lack of automatic Dolby Vision detection was super annoying (having to check to see if the disc you’re playing has dolby vision, then going through the menu on the player to manually turn it on or off for every movie you want to watch). The UB820 is a far better experience on all fronts. When first hooking it up and powering on, it runs an initial easy setup that detects your TV and properly optimizes everything (something the Sony doesn’t do). The menu is clean and looks a lot nicer. And hallelujah - automatic HDR modes. It’s just painless and works like you would expect a blu ray player at this price point to work. Of course the picture and sound quality are fantastic. Time will tell how it holds up, but based upon initial impressions I would highly recommend this anyday!

The best OLED TV for the money out there

The TV is also deceptively heavy, likely since a lot of the LCD TVs, even the large ones, are light. I've seen reviewers in awe at how thin the panel is, but LG has a protruding box for the components and only the PANEL is super thin, not the entire TV.
The colors are obviously amazing. That's what you get from OLED. The blacks are simply black because there's no light bleed that you'd get from standard LED. I watched "Our Universe" on Netflix on this TV and my Lord is it beautiful. At 4k / 144hz, this TV also future proof because consoles can't currently output 4k resolution @ 144hz. The PS6 and Xbox whatever they call it should be able to however. In the meantime, I'm enjoying playing old PSX games on it.
The remote control is too big, there's too many buttons and it feels outdated except that it does have voice controls and conveniently you can point the remote at the TV to control it like you would a Wiimote if you're familiar with the Nintendo Wii. It does not require a peripheral to be added to the TV as it's built in. The stand sits in the middle which is nice because if you have a smaller TV stand, you don't have to worry about the TV not fitting. It does have VESA if you wanted to mount this to the wall of course.
The speakers it comes with are pretty good. There's a mode where you can use another sound output (like a soundbar) in combination with the TV speakers. I personally didn't like it so I disabled it, but the option is there. It has different sound modes as well but those only work if you use the TV Speakers.
It does have a sleep timer and some power saving features as well as OLED care options as OLED unfortunately has the potential to 'burn' images into the screen similar to old Plasma TVs if you are familiar with how they had the same drawback. This really only applies to people who leave CNN on or something where there is a permanent banner for hours and hours a day. Burn in is less prone even with games because the HUD and other static objects usually goes away when you pause or bring up the menu.
The processor is quick too. A fast processor is needed to keep up with the algorithms that assist with image quality but it also has the added effect of not causing any lag or delay in the menus. I purchased a 65" entry level QLED TV from Samsung and the processor they use in there is garbage. Sometimes you will hit a button and it takes, legit, 2-3 seconds to respond. This TV does not have that problem.
Overall, this is an expensive TV but if you love a good picture quality, it's worth it and it will last a long time assuming you take care of it and don't leave CNN or whatever running on it all day.

JAWS 4K REVIEW
on January 14, 2021
Posted by: AandJ091108
Verified Purchase:Yes
I could hardly wait to see Jaws in 4K! I was not disappointed! This is by far the most pristine version I’ve ever seen! I have seen Jaws in every format released to date and the 4K version was definitely worth the wait. The movie keeps the cinematic viewing feel to it and I thought as I was watching it how lucky I was to view it as it had been intended to be seen in pristine condition as if seeing it for the first time. The details and colors pop, it was exciting to discover new things I have never seen before! You see the stamp of the brand of fishing pole Quint uses to hook the shark in great detail along with the fingerprints on the fishing pole handle and the fishing line. The “unofficial” falling star scenes are absolutely stunning in their clarity and stand out. I saw the shark bites in the Orca for the first time ever. The coat that the Mayor wears is pristine in detail. The labels on the bottles of alcohol are legible as are the details of the swimmers swimsuits. I could go on and on about my discoveries in this 4K version. Universal Pictures and Steven Spielberg have done an amazing job of restoring Jaws for this presentation in 4K! This is an absolute must have for your collection and a must see!

The timeless Chinese folk tale of a heroic young woman who takes drastic measures to save her family and country is given an exciting animated treatment by the Disney studio. After her father is unable to answer a call to arms to battle the invading Huns, Mulan disguises herself as a man and enlists in the army. Ming-Na Wen supplies the voice of Mulan, with Eddie Murphy as her companion, a wisecracking little dragon named Mushu; other voices include B.D. Wong, Lea Salonga, and Donny Osmond. 88 min. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtrack English. Two-disc set.

Loved it as a Child and again as an Adult!
on January 14, 2021

I loved to watch the movie Mulan growing up--it was one of my very favorite Disney movies! I remember having sleepovers and slumber parties with friends; when we got together as kids, this was often the movie that we chose to watch. We all loved to watch it; sometimes we'd even take turns play-acting and singing the songs from the movie, rating each other on how well we did.
I just watched Mulan again last night, the 1st time as an adult. I must admit that I still think that it's excellent. I don't really watch kids' TV shows/movies anymore, so it's not often that I see the Disney (and other company) movies/shows that I grew up with. But the other day, I heard some reference to Mulan, and that got me to thinking about it. So I bought Mulan, to watch for 'old times' sake'.
Having just seen it for the first time since childhood, I must say that I was quite impressed. I enjoyed it immensely; the plot, characters/animation/voices, the precise timing of it all, the music--the entire production was superb! It is entertaining for all ages and all groups of people, and I highly recommend it! It even has some things thrown into the movie to catch the interest of adults/parents--some history, symbols, even some 'adult' jokes and double-meanings. But it is all tasteful and appropriately done--any of the more 'adult' content is above the heads of children, and even that content is not gross, distasteful, or unsavory in any way...it's just more funny to adults than it is to kids.
I give this movie, "Mulan," a 5-star rating. If I could, I'd give it 6 stars! I highly recommend it. It's a perfect movie to sit and watch with your kids, (maybe better for at least 6-7 years old kids and older). It is well done. My compliments to everyone that worked on this project!
P.S. The voice-acting of Mushu, the dragon, was out-of-this-world! I think that it literally could not be better... Amazing job!

Must Have 80's classic
on January 14, 2021
Posted by: AandJ091108
Verified Purchase:Yes
I was born in the mid 80's so during the 90's most of these films were on Cable TV. I remember seeing this many times before but never actually owning it. I was close to buying the Diamond luxe edition of the film but something held me back. I'm glad i did as this movie has been remastered from the original 35MM film to 4K. I compared the included blu ray (which has all the special features) to the 4K disc and there is a significant difference to the two. For starters the 1080p blu-ray has a brighter picture but the 4K color's shine a whole lot more. The DTS-HD 5.1 sound is good but you can hear that this movie was done in the 80's has sound effects sound outdated. Overall this classic has never looked better and it's a must have for any fan for 80's movie, predating CGI graphics and the PG-13 rating which was created in 1984 after this films release.

A slash far above the rest
on January 14, 2021
Posted by: AandJ091108
Verified Purchase:Yes
Halloween is directed by David Gordon Green and co-written by Danny McBride. It is the 11th movie of the significant horror franchise, which is by far my favorite of all the horror franchises. The first Halloween and each subsequent follow ups all hold a place, some more special than others, in my heart, yes, even Season of the Witch and the Rob Zombie movies. But this entry is something else entirely. Not only to me is it the best Halloween sequel, I also believe it is the best Halloween movie, the best slasher movie and one of the best horror movies of all time. Period.
The movie takes place 40 years after the original movie, ignoring all sequels in between. While this is not the first time they have done that, in fact this is the fourth alternate timeline in the series, this time however I believe they got it right. In a storyline reminiscent to Halloween H20, the main difference being instead of having Laurie Strode running away from her past, this time she is prepared for it, as the 40 years past has her spent honing her battle skills to ready herself for Michael’s impending return.
Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode here gives a terrific performance that is rare among horror movies; more akin to a serious drama. Curtis is believable and nuanced, allowing the film to ground itself into a level of realism, divorcing itself from the goof and lunacy from earlier entries like The Curse of Michael Myers and Resurrection. Curtis is the backbone of the film and without her giving it 110 percent, the movie could have faltered and not worked at all.
Thanks to the grounded performances and direction, Michael Myers this time around feels much more menacing. Since the victims he kills feel way less like cannon fodders like in typical slasher movies, the overall tone of the character is darker and more mean-spirited. While still having some slasher tropes, the characters in the film feel more real than ever, so when scary moments hit, I genuinely wanted them to survive, but only for my heart to sink, when they bite the dust in the bloodiest, most disgusting, brutal way.
Michael Myers is a horror icon, but he has not been frightening since the original. As the series went on, he became a generic masked killer at best and laughable at worst. The reason for that is because the sequels simply do not know how to frame him. Ask yourself what makes someone scary? Absolutely not when you explain away his curse with Thorn and turn him into a hitman for a cult, or recount his white trash family backstory. None of that. Here he is just a highly resilient, deranged man, who lacks morals and empathy, and preys on one of man's’ primal fears - at any moment someone can break into your house and murder you for no reason and with no remorse.
The best scene of the movie is a tracking shot where we follow Michael through the neighborhood, breaking into people’s houses and murdering them in the grisliest way. The camera, the tension, the lighting, the kills all make it one of the best horror scenes of recent memory. And the final showdown between Laurie and Michael was cathartic and satisfying, having been built up throughout the entire film.
As for negatives, I kind of wished they show more of the holiday of Halloween. Yes, we get a Halloween dance and background scenes of children trick or treating, but something the past movies did absolutely right was capturing the spirit of the holiday that I felt this movie kind of just skimmed through. I wanted more walks through the autumn foliage and perhaps even a scene at a costume shop would have been appreciated.
With Laurie and Michael both working as characters for their different respective reasons, the rest of the technical aspect of the film is equally brilliant. The writing, directing and music (of which John Carpenter returned for) are all top-notch. Halloween 2018 is the best movie of the series for me, topping even the original because of the much more menacing nature of Michael Myers. The movie is a slash far above the rest of horror movies of the same vein. Halloween will satisfy those who are looking for a fun, jump scare-filled movie, as well as those who are looking for intense, arthouse horror.

A field trip to Europe with his classmates was supposed to provide Peter Parker (Tom Holland) with a well-earned respite from his superhero alter-ego of Spider-Man. But when he's recruited by superspy Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Spidey is soon back on the job and teaming up with the InchMysterioInch-us Quentin Beck (Jake Gyllenhaal)-apparently a hero from an alternate universe-for a dangerous mission that may not be what it appears. Zendaya, Jon Favreau, Marisa Tomei co-star in this fun-filled Marvel sequel.

I LOVE Smart Superhero Movies!!!!
By AandJ091108
After Endgame, I wondered what could be next and this movie definitely didn't disappoint! I love superhero movies that, even though they're still fantastical and obviously fictitious, explain themselves and aren't so fantastical that they're completely unbelievable. This one fit that bill to a "T". At first I wasn't sure about Mysterio and I knew that there had to be a catch and when he showed his true colors it made me like him a lot! I have to admit: I LOVE Jake Gyllenhaal and Tom Holland and I'd probably watch them in anything at least once, but I'm so glad I've purchased this and will definitely watch it again and again! Another thing: I'm pleasantly surprised by Zendaya's character development and acting chops! She's not a damsel in distress like Kirsten Dunst was in the last Spider-Man trilogy (sorry, didn't even bother with the last set made with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone) and the relationship between her and Tom Holland seems plausible and like a match made in reality, but not "in heaven" (i.e. perfect and squeaky clean). Gah. Just watch this movie. You won't be sorry!
