Great Value

There is not much to be said about blank DVDs. They either work well, or not at all.
In my experience, the Sony DVDs work just fine. I typically write to a high capacity (above 90 percent) and have not had any issues. I can burn at 16x, also with no issues. I have not witnessed any degradation of data over time, and have virtually no issues with these.
One time, out of about two hundred DVDs used, I had one DVD that could not be recognized. There were no issues I could see visually, such as scratches or blemishes. Two different computers would not recognize the DVD as blank or containing information. It was just, dead. A half percent failure rate is acceptable for something value priced.
And that is where these stand out. The value is incredible.

Loved The Nun

I thought this was a great movie. The story was interesting, and it had plenty of scary moments. I didn't watch the previews, so those who say they saw all of the scary parts in the preview and it ruined it for them- didn't apply to me. So if you haven't already watched the trailer/preview, don't spoil it for yourself! I also really like the actress that plays the nun (she's on American Horror Story) so when I saw she was in it I assumed it would be good :)

Teenage film holds up for adults too.

First watched this movie on ABC family I think, and I thought I would give it try. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. Such an adventure, comical, action-packed, and just a fun movie. Elisabeth Shue plays (Kris) the fun, sensible, and mature babysitter just trying to keep the kids alive in this action adventure while trying to pick up her friend. Each time, they run into strangers good and bad. I'm glad I bought it because it's a feel-good, adventure, comedy. Speaking of comical, is it just me or do the brother and sister and the friend Darrell remind you and look like Hermione Granger, Harry Potter w/o the glasses, and Ron Weasley from the books and movies. I noticed right away the looks, and the hair color I thought the resemblance was uncanny! Overall, the characters, story, and the different stars throughout the movie was great! What an adventure and the parents didn't even know! Love this 80's babysitting movie, let's face it babysitting is an adventure.

The Broader Message
on December 16, 2018

I would like to offer something more substantive than how much I love this movie or how I watch it every Thanksgiving as other reviewers have offered. This John Hughes directed, produced, and written film is a far departure from many of the alleged comedies that grace the movie theatres these days that rely on gross out humor, sexual innuendo amped up to ten, or situations that are stretched to wildly fantastic levels of absurdity. Planes, Trains and Automobiles is an old school comedy with a message about finding friendship in unexpected places.
Neil Page (Steve Martin) plays an uptight advertising executive trying to get home to his family in Chicago for Thanksgiving. Page’s plans and attitude changes when he meets the loveable, if somewhat grating shower curtain ring salesman Del Griffith (John Candy). Through a series of spectacular incidents, the polar opposites become bonded together as they make their way throughout the Midwest in an effort to get Neil home for Thanksgiving.
Beyond having two comedy masters in Candy and Martin and the grand vision of John Hughes, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles succeeds in my view because the situation is highly realistic---I mean who hasn’t had a trip that hasn’t gone according to plan? The viewer feels like he could be one of these characters either the desperate to get home Neil Page who wants time with his family or Del Griffith who is desperate for a friend or in a broader sense a home.

Some Good Laughs

A pleasant surprise with plenty of laughs and a good performance by Ice Cube to boot.
This film never took itself seriously and kept the action flowing. Not the stuff of legend, just a movie that served up funny scene after funny scene and was first-class entertainment.
Jonah Hill is a recognized and extremely competent comedic actor but Channing Tatum - who knew? I guess he did because he is first-rate funny throughout.
Ice Cube's take on the classic cranky chief from 70's and 80's flicks was great - over the top, but still in control. Rob Riggle follows up his performance in "The Other Guys" with another great role as the arrogant jerk whom makes you laugh until you want to beat the junk out of him.
The film fell a little bit short in some of the details and some of the other supporting characters are two-dimensional but those issues are small potatoes within the feast of yuks you get along the way.
**SPOILER ALERT**
The non-explosions during the car chase are small bits of genius and setup the big bang that comes up later perfectly.
A great movie to forget your cares while also not insulting your intelligence (too much.) It merited three-and-a-half stars but as a math nerd, I rounded it up!

These movies are hilarious! I happily watch these with the kids and I even put my phone down so I'm not multi-tasking. All 3 are equally good which is rare. They like to play 'cheese touch'. I highly recommend the 3 pack!

Great Show

Season 3 was just coming on tv and I had always heard how good season 1 and 2 were but had never watched the show. Finally with season 3 taping, I ordered season 1 and 2 to watch to 'catch up'. This is a show about FAMILY. How just one small act can end up changing someone's life for good (or bad), or how the same thing can happen to several people but they may all remember it differently. The show is about the past, present and future and very interesting to watch. Glad I finally got on board with "This is Us'. Bonus on the Dvd's is extra material and inside talks with the actors.

Finally, one of the best shows from TV is available on DVD. This is a well-done, light-hearted "coming of age" show that just feels good to watch. A great escape from today's reality! This set is a straight-forward set and does not include any fancy extras, like magnets.
Well worth the money for anyone looking to own a DVD set of a fantastic TV show.

Dull writing disables the many good points of this
on October 16, 2018

So many good things, including art, music, voice acting, sound. However, although the plot had promise, a production cannot rise above dull writing. Every now and then it is mildly amusing but good writing would have transformed this movie. Hotel Trans. 1 & 2 were better. Still, own this and the kids do like it.

Once again, Dinos steal the show in the latest of the new Jurassic World story. This time greed and an emerging danger combine to tell a dramatic tale of a race against time as the former park faces destruction from the volcano. The actors were perfectly cast, and their interaction carried the picture to an interesting conclusion ( perhaps setting the stage for the final film, due I believe 2021) and which promises to be just as good as its previous films. Get the 4K and watch the final extra by Barbasol its great! But only on the 4K. Get your copy today!

A field trip to Europe with his classmates was supposed to provide Peter Parker (Tom Holland) with a well-earned respite from his superhero alter-ego of Spider-Man. But when he's recruited by superspy Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Spidey is soon back on the job and teaming up with the InchMysterioInch-us Quentin Beck (Jake Gyllenhaal)-apparently a hero from an alternate universe-for a dangerous mission that may not be what it appears. Zendaya, Jon Favreau, Marisa Tomei co-star in this fun-filled Marvel sequel.

I LOVE Smart Superhero Movies!!!!
By AandJ091108
After Endgame, I wondered what could be next and this movie definitely didn't disappoint! I love superhero movies that, even though they're still fantastical and obviously fictitious, explain themselves and aren't so fantastical that they're completely unbelievable. This one fit that bill to a "T". At first I wasn't sure about Mysterio and I knew that there had to be a catch and when he showed his true colors it made me like him a lot! I have to admit: I LOVE Jake Gyllenhaal and Tom Holland and I'd probably watch them in anything at least once, but I'm so glad I've purchased this and will definitely watch it again and again! Another thing: I'm pleasantly surprised by Zendaya's character development and acting chops! She's not a damsel in distress like Kirsten Dunst was in the last Spider-Man trilogy (sorry, didn't even bother with the last set made with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone) and the relationship between her and Tom Holland seems plausible and like a match made in reality, but not "in heaven" (i.e. perfect and squeaky clean). Gah. Just watch this movie. You won't be sorry!
