Heck, Yeah!

This little family-centric comedy just keeps getting better and better as the kids grow up and the stories get a bit more complicated. From Axl's misadventures in college in past seasons, we now see him embarking on a more serious relationship, figuring out that his siblings are actually human beings, and actually contemplating life outside his own needs. Brick's quirks are still there, but he's growing into them with a bit of style! And Sue - to my mind, Ms. Sher is by far the best young comedian on TV - is still indomitable, upbeat and completely engaging. The purple glitter glue and gold stars still adorn her notebook but she has faced some adult issues: falling in love; moving on from a relationship; planning her future; and never giving up on family and friends, she is growing into an amazing young woman who marches to her own brightly clad drummer. As you can tell, I love this show! This was an excellent season of transition. Such a treat, also, to see the depiction of a working-class family, often struggling to make ends meet, but never giving up on one another. Highly recommended.

AUGH! I can't believe "The Middle is no more!

I have been a big fan of "The Middle" ever since its first season. Loved Brick, Mike, and the rest of the gang. Although to be honest, Sue would get on my nerves, and if I had a kid like Axl, I would have shipped him off to military school as soon as he hit puberty.
When I heard they were cancelling the show (and the word got out around January) I was befuddled and bereft. I let out an anguished "NOOOOOOOOO" (how Sue-like) which lasted for months. Even my seasons 1-8 DVD collection were no solace.
When I watched the final episode, (and I'd told a fellow Middleite my predictions for the characters), I found out at least one of my guesses were correct - it involved Brick).
And now that the new TV season is upon us, I still keep showing up for Tuesday, 7 pm, and my show's not there. It still hurts. (I really need to get a life.)
Still this DVD is a good reminder of why I love "The Middle."

Great Movie for Young and Old!

This was a really great movie. I really enjoyed the way it made me feel watching it. It just made me feel happy, carefree and like a kid again. I actually assumed this was taken from a stage play. Where else do you see a basketball team (all male) break into a song on the Basketball court. (Think Grease).
This movie makes us all think about the "clique stereotypes" we fall into, and how we need to think outside the "Stereo-box." The songs were wonderful! Reminded me of the music you hear for Sitcoms of the 80's and 90's. The kind of diddy's that stick in your head long after the show is over (I still have one of the songs going through my head, though I can't remember the name of the song.) Yet the storyline has a positive message.
Sure the plot is a bit sloppy at times, and I kind of doubt that the school "Play stars" are the "villains" at many of today's high schools, but that may be what the movie makers were trying to show. Even sportos and band kids can get along. I also liked how "parents" to the most part, are left out of the storyline. Sure the father was the high school coach, but the silly drama teacher was funny, and likable.
The main stars, the good looking basketball player, and the new female student "brain" were EXTREMELY likable, and you wanted to see them succeed.
Great movie, for the entire family!

"Let's rock and roll and just let go!"

It's summer vacation and the gang from East High is headed out to the local country club, either as members or as employees. Sweethearts Troy (Zac Efron) and Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) are hard at work but still have plenty of time for near-smooches. Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale), the club owners' daughter, has her eye on Troy, too, and is wooing him with a possible college scholarship.
This is one fun musical. All the high school stereotypes are here - the jocks, the brainiacs, the snobs, singing and dancing their way into our hearts. There's a big musical number about every five minutes and the productions are energetic and fun. Clearly aimed at the pre-teen audience, this movie is full of young, good-looking actors who make being seventeen look like the Most. Fun. Ever. Efron and Hudgens are an adorable and wholesome couple while Tisdale is the teen witch you love to hate.
The desert setting is beautiful and the movie oozes happiness while stressing the value of friendship. Disney brings the old Judy Garland-Mickey Rooney-type teenage musical to the current generation in fine style.

Superb Blu-ray of a good film

The High School Musical series of films is one of those magnificent rarities that has polarized a large segment of society. Many people love it... and many people hate it. This third installment clearly has the best production values and is very entertaining. For my money it is the best of the three. The choreography in particular is excellent. The songs are fun and reasonably well performed. I'm giving this a 5 out of 5 because this is a product review and the Blu-ray video is stunning and the sound is excellent. The inclusion of a standard DVD to accompany the Blu-ray is a nice touch for families. Kids can play the regular DVD to death. If you like wholesome, innocent fun with a first-rate presentation, you will enjoy this.

Mix of classic touches and a fresh new take

We loved this movie. My 13 year old had hated the original Grinch forever. She thought the original was creepy. She loved this version. Said it is her new favorite Christmas movie. She loved how cute the characters look. She loved the storyline. She loved the jokes. I love the original and I love this one. It had enough touches from the old to hit the nostalgic mark while still embracing the fun and witty nature of Illumination. Never would have expected anyone to make a movie about the Grinch that my ten old would like let alone love. Well done, Illumination, well done!!

For years I told myself I was going to stop collecting the box sets after season nine, because I felt the later seasons were fairly hit or miss. Not long ago I received season 10 as a gift, and while there's certainly some great episodes in 10 I figured if those were combined with the greats of 11 it would make a pretty good season. So that's how I rationalize this purchase I suppose.
The episodes of season 11 often get confused with other seasons, but most fans could immediately guess that it takes place after season 9. There are some classic eps here, and some easily forgettable ones as well. Unfortunately, the season felt a bit misbalanced to me with the good early in the season and bad at the end. All this is subjective of course, but I probably won't be watching the forth disc of this box set again; something I couldn't say about any of the other seasons. Also, there's a very definable shift this season in how the jokes are presented; instead of the witty, satirical humor that has been the Simpsons' MO since day one it has began to rely more on the random, off the wall humor that Family Guy has always displayed. I don't make that comparison as an insult to FG, it's just not the Simpsons style.
Another area about this collection that has drawn a lot of well-deserved criticism is the packaging. Gone are the plastic pages that usually secure the discs quite well in lieu of accordion-style sleeves that the discs must be pulled out of, increasing the risk of damage and lowering convenience. While it makes more room for Simpsons-related images, and is probably cheaper to make without lowering purchase price, but the practicality and logic of this change is non-existent, aside from the likelihood of increased profits. I daresay that the packaging choice of this season is the main reason it has a lower rating of its pre and post seasons.
Aside from the lower quality of episodes and packaging, season 11 will still bring in the laughs, and I don't think it possible for me not to recommend the Simpsons.

Favorite Lindsay Lohan movie

This is definitely my favorite Lindsay Lohan movie. She was so adorable and likable as a child plus the film has a great cast. The DVD has some great bonus features on the making of the movie, bloopers, a lost scene and a few interviews. now, I don't have to wait around for Freeform to re-air it so I can "replace" Dennis Quaid as the dad with the precocious twins.

A field trip to Europe with his classmates was supposed to provide Peter Parker (Tom Holland) with a well-earned respite from his superhero alter-ego of Spider-Man. But when he's recruited by superspy Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Spidey is soon back on the job and teaming up with the InchMysterioInch-us Quentin Beck (Jake Gyllenhaal)-apparently a hero from an alternate universe-for a dangerous mission that may not be what it appears. Zendaya, Jon Favreau, Marisa Tomei co-star in this fun-filled Marvel sequel.

I LOVE Smart Superhero Movies!!!!
By AandJ091108
After Endgame, I wondered what could be next and this movie definitely didn't disappoint! I love superhero movies that, even though they're still fantastical and obviously fictitious, explain themselves and aren't so fantastical that they're completely unbelievable. This one fit that bill to a "T". At first I wasn't sure about Mysterio and I knew that there had to be a catch and when he showed his true colors it made me like him a lot! I have to admit: I LOVE Jake Gyllenhaal and Tom Holland and I'd probably watch them in anything at least once, but I'm so glad I've purchased this and will definitely watch it again and again! Another thing: I'm pleasantly surprised by Zendaya's character development and acting chops! She's not a damsel in distress like Kirsten Dunst was in the last Spider-Man trilogy (sorry, didn't even bother with the last set made with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone) and the relationship between her and Tom Holland seems plausible and like a match made in reality, but not "in heaven" (i.e. perfect and squeaky clean). Gah. Just watch this movie. You won't be sorry!
