Moon is an odd little science-fiction film. If you don't like Sam Rockwell, don't bother. It's somewhat like 2001: A Space Odyssey in that it's a single protagonist and a talking computer (voiced by Kevin Spacey). The "real" story of the lone protagonist comes out over time. The isolation of being on the moon is (at least in part) a metaphor for existential angst and the loneliness many struggle with in life.

The first six episodes of season 23 of South Park are about Tegridy Farms, the weed farm Stan's dad started back in season 22. They were going for a Green Acres kind of vibe, but most of the antics on the farm aren't that funny. More interesting is the social commentary about immigrant children being sent to detention camps--and what long-term effects that might have (Mexican Joker!). They work in a lot of up-to-the-minute pop culture references. My favorite was the "Board Girls" episode, for the gaming references and not the gender politics satire.

Despite the, um, uninspired title, "Evil" is a well-written and occasionally chilling TV show. It's about battles both small and large with many willing--and/or unwitting--minons of evil on earth. The main character is a clinical psychologist (and mother of four) who sees demons as a metaphor for mental illness and human evil. Her partner is an aspiring priest who has lost his way, but knows that demons are real and they are causing a lot of trouble in the world. It's rare to see a horror/thriller TV show written from a female-centric perspective.

"Star Trek: Short Treks" is an eclectic trip through the new Star Trek: Discovery universe. Made of of many short films featuring major and minor characters, "Short Treks" is a lot of fun and hits many different kinds of notes--from drama to comedy to family entertainment. I preferred the live-action short films to the animated ones, but this was a good buy overall.

This animated show (for adults only, due to graphic violence and constant swearing) is SO much better than the live-action Suicide Squad or Birds of Prey films. Kaley Cuoco is the voice of Harley Quinn. She does a great job. The supporting cast is good as well. This is the "real" story of Harley Quinn becoming independent from the Joker. It's all mostly played for laughs, with many sinister DC villains portrayed as whining losers/idiots. The humor is kind of like a DC version of Deadpool. If that appeals to you, check this out!
